Prices range from $12 to $16 depending on the options you choose. For example, you can select one carb plus one or two entrees. Options include rice, pancit, or half and half. I like to get the garlic rice for additional $.50. The entrees choices change from time to time but I think the chicken and pork BBQ are staples that are always available. Other options include kare kare, adobo chicken, fish dish, etc. Today, I got the Kare Kare Pork and BBQ Chicken. Wasn't the best Filipino style I've had in the bay area but adequate. The Kare Kare Pork was surprisingly good. I usually have Kare Kare with Oxtail but this version was quite tasty. I found Turo Cafe in Excelsior/SF kinda by accident. We had driven by, and decided to turn around and grab a quick snack. This is definitely a place for cheap eats, but it's not quality cheap eats. Ordered lumpia, and was super excited because I love lumpia, egg rolls, that's all my jam and this was pretty disappointing. The lumpia was overcooked, and actually did not taste very fresh, and on top of that it was pretty bland. The pork and rice dish... The pork was really overcooked, to the point that it was super tough, and really difficult to eat. It pretty much got pushed around the plate. The rice was good, but nothing to really be excited about, except there was a really generous amount. The people that work in the restaurant are incredibly nice, and super sweet. Quality Filipino food at a respectable price tag. Good service too, they welcome you and are efficient. Mainly a takeout spot but there is available seating to eat in. They still haven't figured out the tocino supply/demand issue which has been happening for years. Be sure to call in to check if they have tocino left even if it still the morning. Very oily buffet style filipino food. Sinigang was the only dish that tasted how it's supposed to. I got a side of Bicol express they forgot to include in my delivery so I had to pick it up and it just did not taste like it at all. Meat was tender, flavor was not there. No coconut no spice. I also got monggo and instead of it being savory, it was sweet. Every single dish had a layer of oil on top. The rice I was served was that burnt bottom of the rice cooker. Turo is a wonderful place to get Filipino food for a good price, the service has always been quick when I stopped by, and the people there are very welcoming! The store is located right next to the BART station; just cross the street, and you can't miss it! I remember coming here a month ago and grabbing a Tosilog, as I personally enjoy a nice marinated pork. The food was delicious and just as I'd imagined when I used to visit my friend's home just a few houses down. They have many hot options and some vary daily depending on what is cooked. The morning longsilog with garlic rice and egg is always a nice touch. I like the 2 item combo with white rice usually with a chicken, beef, or pork dish. This spot is great for trying lots of Filipino dishes. I came in for a small 8 oz al a carte pork Kare Kare which came out to $6.25. It paired well with rice when I reheated it at home. They had ran out of precooked lumpia when I ordered and made me a fresh batch! It was $6 for 10 pieces. I should have gotten more because my family ate them super fast. You can also get silogs here. Hell yah! I love this spot and always get my combo! Garlic rice, chicken afritada, and Pinakbet. I enjoy the mix of it all and soaking the liquidy dishes with the rice! First of all LOVE the food here...BUT...what are the actual operating hours?!? The "current" and "updated" website says open Fridays and Saturdays 7:30am-Midnight but tried coming here twice on a Saturday night between 6pm and 7pm and they are closed. Called to confirm what time they close today (Saturday) and the person who answered said 6:00pm...when I referred to their website saying otherwise all I got was sorry. No explanation if it was just tonight (Thanksgiving weeekend hours, Holiday hours) or if the website was just wrong, or if it was going to be corrected. I came here at 4 pm on a weekday. They didn't have much other than the ready made hot foods. I ordered a large pork sinigang and a medium afritada. The pork sinigang was the perfect level of sour. Most of the pork we received had more fat than meat. There weren't many vegetables added to our container as well. The afritada was delicious and barely came with vegetables. Hopefully I'll get to try a silog when they have some available. The parking is a bit tight and very close to the bus lane when backing out. Can't believe I haven't updated my review in 6 years lol Lost a star because they don't sell the chicken on skewers anymore! And it's more expensive! Guy at the front said since Covid.. guess it's really been a while. The alternative options are buying pieces of chicken in a small, medium, or large container with the large being $20 for what he said was 4 or 5 skewers. Large is probably the size of a tall soup container you'd get your pho takeout in. I took his word for it and bought two large containers because I know 10 skewers would feed a small party (it was a potluck). It was not 4-5 skewers worth of chicken lol. It was more like 3. If I remember correctly, each skewer would have at least 4 pieces on it. Not a huge deal in this scenario cuz my party had a lot of food to choose from but just a heads up. If the skewers were like $3.50 each, that'd be half the price of what I paid for one large container. I've been coming to this place since high school for the past 5 years. My boyfriend and I graduated from Leadership High, and we've been coming here together for years as regular customers. I genuinely used to love this place, which makes this really disappointing to write. There are actually a handful of employees here who recognize us as regulars, know we've been coming in for years, and always treat us with the utmost respect. Because of them, we kept coming back for so long... Unfortunately, there is one specific employee, a young Filipina woman who usually wears a mask, who consistently treats my boyfriend and me very poorly. Her attitude is rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming, and it's reached a point where it's uncomfortable to even order. The issue isn't the place as a whole, it's her. On top of that, our orders are constantly inconsistent when she handles them. We're often missing items like sauce or fries, and when we order a popcorn chicken bowl, the portion is shockingly small, barely any chicken at all. When I order pancit, it tastes old, like it's been sitting out all day... and I used to love their pancit :( After years of loyalty, it's just so disappointing. Every time we come here now, we leave with another reason not to come back. Good food and respectful service go hand in hand, and being treated poorly over and over has completely turned us off. A casual joint on the corner of San Jose Ave and Geneva Ave, right next to the Balboa Park BART station, this late-night Filipino restaurant is the perfect place to stop by if you're hungry for good food. Closing at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant's interior has a cozy seating area with Filipino music/TV shows playing on the TV. I do want to add that the parking right in front of the restaurant is such a huge plus since it takes away the inconvenience and potential danger of finding parking in SF! The best option is to get the 2 entrees with 2 scoops of rice, so I got the dinuguan and sinigang as the entrees. The dinuguan and sinigang were both very sweet, sour, and savory. Turo Cafe and Grill is one of the few places in the Bay Area to get good quality, Filipino food. Turo serves the same dishes that I grew up with at home. In the past, I've ordered popular dishes, including: pancit (noodles), silog (breakfast combos w/egg), pork sinigang (tamarind soup), BBQ skewers, and of course, LUMPIA. It's rare to order lumpia shanghai (finger food pork egg rolls) at such a girthy size. And there's is kinda girthy for a shanghai. Believe me, I've had shanghai in other places which were either "too skinny" and/or "too short". There's one place I know of that tends to roll their shanghai in extra wrappers to almost deceive customers that it's actually filled with enough meat! LOL. In any case, Turo's Shanghai is "fat, tasteful and meaty" for the discerning lumpia lover in you! Turo Cafe deserves 4.5 stars!!! @feastyle approved! The tocilog was alright. Though it tasted good, the meat was tough. Can't tell if the eggs were overcooked poached or over hard. The garlic rice wasn't aromatic or flavorful. A cafeteria style set up that features a plenitude of Filipino dishes and even some desserts. one may order single items or combination meals and I chose the latter (2 items w/either pancit noodles or white rice) with a leg/thigh cut of chicken inisal, a small container of bicol express and a fairly large portion of pancit noodles stuffed into a mid size plastic clamshell. the chicken inisal was deeply marinated and flavorful but unfortunately dry from sitting under the heat lamp and the bicol express (savory pork stew with coconut milk, sliced peppers, possibly some shrimp paste) was luscious, devourable and had a pleasant sting from some unidentifiable spices...not something i'm too familiar with compared to the other offerings and ideal over some steaming rice or even noodles. the pancit was cooked well although some of the pieces of meat were also a bit dried out like the chicken inisal. I arrived in the late afternoon which probably explains the texture of the meats in my dishes so I'll have to revisit during earlier hours to get better quality food. located across the street from the Balboa BART station and is pretty much at a super busy intersection with multiple MUNI bus and light-rail stop all around. limited car parking out in front and around the area. read more

You can't go wrong with anything here, but my favorites would have to be their pancit, pork sinigang and dinuguan.
