There wasn't a bad bite of it. They were my favorite. Portions were great. $8.50 for the fried rice is excellent. We also ordered Sago Gulaman and halo-halo. There's an 18% service charge added to the check. Contrary to what a lot of reviews have noted, we weren't required to buy bottled water when we asked for water. I am always searching for good Filipino food, which is tough to find in Broward County. So, when I read about Manila Grill, I had to try it. Because they close at 7 p.m., my husband and I opted to go for luner on a Saturday afternoon. The small restaurant is in a mall that houses the popular Chow Time restaurant, medical offices, and other businesses. And it's just east of the Bravo Supermarket. It's a simple eatery that houses about 50 diners. And it seems to be a Mom and Pop place with just two people, the cook and the server. Service was spotty with just 7 people (3 tables filled) in the place. They also seem to do a brisk take-out service with about 4 or so pickups during the 90 minutes we were at the restaurant. We always had to signal for service, including the check, and tables were not cleared quickly. But I guess that's what happens when you have so few people to provide service. The food is good. Our favorite was the lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) that came 6 to an order for $5.95. They were hot and crispy and scrumptious. Next was the Pancit Canton. The dish was egg noodles that were just right, not too firm and not too soft, with a wonderful flavor and bits of crispy pork skin, pork, shrimp, and veggies (with a hint of cilantro). Our only disappointment was the pork adobo. Although it was a bit salty, we didn't detect the soy-vinegar marinade that makes the dish adobo. Instead, we ate what we dubbed a stewed pork dish. Adobo is a national dish of the Philippines, and when done right, its distinctive flavor stands out and is very tasty. We splurged on dessert and had two. First, the Ube Halaya, which was more like a brownie with a coconut topping. The combination of the bland, soft dessert with the sweet sauce was perfect. We also had the Halo Halo (my fave). It had shaved ice with beans, gelatins, egg custard, a bit of ube, ice cream, and more. This one even had bits of ripe plantains (I never had that in my Halo Halo before). I also really enjoyed the Sago Gulaman beverage (shaved ice with jelly and tapioca pearls). Dinner for two with 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 beverages was $71 including tax and an 18% tip that is automatically added to the bill. Not bad. We definitely will be back. But, for now, I think I will stick with my homemade adobo using my (Filipino) friend Joe's recipe. read more

I just finished a late lunch of lechon Kawali, grilled liempo and rice with the rice being complimentary! The first being pork belly that's fried and the other one is grilled. I can't say which one I like the best because they both were delicious. The fried ones have the right amount of fat to meat combined with the crispness from the skin! The grilled ones have a great sauce/marinade that gives it a great flavor. They both came with a sauce that is really good but I like them both just the way they are cooked. I call the order in on my way home from golf and my order was ready upon my arrival. I really like the simplicity of the interior design and overall layout of the interior. We've been loyal customers of this restaurant for years, which is why this experience was so disappointing. We stopped by just to order halo-halo. When I tried it, I noticed it wasn't sweet at all, so I asked my husband to go back and let them know. The woman at the register admitted they had forgotten to add the condensed milk. Unfortunately, by the time my husband returned to the car, the halo-halo had become watery from sitting while they corrected the mistake. What upset me most wasn't the mistake itself--everyone makes mistakes. It was the way we were treated afterward. Instead of apologizing, the employee blamed the weather and said, of course, it melted because my husband had taken it outside. She even rolled her eyes and gave us an attitude, as if the situation was somehow our fault. As long-time customers, we expected better customer service. A simple apology and a more courteous response would have gone a long way. I hope management addresses this, because we've always enjoyed coming here and would hate to see customer service decline. read more

I really liked the ambiance and various pictures of the Philippines hanging in the restaurant. My favorite was the dessert, Halo Halo! Loved all the toppings it had and tasted great! Came for lunch time and the menu had a lot of options for meat, chicken, and seafood. I ordered the Pancit Canton with chicken and pork as I'm allergic to seafood. A coworker turned me on to Manila Grill ages ago and I unfortunately moved too far north to eat it regularly, but it is absolutely worth the trek. My partner lives nearby and had never had Filipino food before, so I suckered him into taking me. He too, is now a fan. The service is quick, this is not a fancy place. It's very in and out but there are plenty of tables to sit at. We ordered lumpia, pancit, and lechon kawali. The lumpia came incredibly hot and fresh. I'm absolutely OBSESSED with the pancit and fantasize about it often when I want comfort food. Get it with the rice noodles, texturally it's amazing. The broth it's in slaps and I could eat it for DAYS. The lechon kawali has huge portions and is very crispy. This trip I missed out on the halo halo but anytime I've had it here it's been on point and filled to the brim with goodies. My friends, and I found this cute, quaint restaurant after having Jollibee. We came here for the desserts, and they did not disappoint. This was my very first time having the oh so raved about Ube and Halo Halo and let me tell you I GET THE HYPE First off, I had the Ube ice cream. It came with two scoops and it was amazingly rich nutty and sweet, but not too sweet. I devoured those two scoops like nobody's business. Next I had the Halo Halo. And at first glance, it is very intimidating. It was huge and very colorful with the Ube ice cream, the jelly, the beans, the corn flakes and the Ube jam. I tried every component individually and to my surprise at the bottom of the cup, there were more ingredients such as bananas and sweet potatoes, I will say this dessert is full of surprises and surprisingly GOOD I thoroughly enjoyed both desserts at this establishment. I even got a little lesson from my Filipino friends about how these desserts originated, and all in all I would recommend Manila Grill and BBQ for the desserts! Manila Grill and Barbeque is one of my favorites if I'm craving for Filipino food. I love their Tapsilog, (Tapa, Sinangag at Itlog, and the Longsilog (Longanisa, Sinangag at Itlog. I like the skewered pork barbeque and the tokwat baboy (crispy pork belly and fried tofu with soy sauce and vinegar) for appetizers. For vegetables I like Laing which is Taro leaves cooked in coconut milk with chili, pork and shrimp, and the Pinakbet which is stir fried asian vegetables with shrimp paste. Bicol Express which is spicy pork stew with coconut milk, Fried Rellenong Bangus (stuffed milkfish), Grilled Pusit (stuffed squid), Sweet and Sour Red Snapper are some of my favorite entree's. For dessert Halo Halo Special is a must have which is mixed fruits, sweet beans with shaved ice, evaporated milk, ube jam and leche flan. Great service and great food! read more

We started with BBQ pork skewers beautifully charred and smothered with a tangy sweet sauce. Meat was tender and easily eaten off the stick. My husband's Kare Kare was nutty and unique. It is a peanut sauce based stew made with oxtail and beef. It comes with lots of veggies like eggplant and green beans. It's loaded with a ton of tender oxtail meat. I ordered a fried fish dish and I'm not a big cooked fish lover but this Bangus Sisig was amazing. Bangus or Milkfish is known as the national fish of the Philippines and its a light flaky white fish that absorbs the flavors its cooked with. It came on a sizzling hot plate with some onions, peppers and other veggies. You can actually eat the whole fish as they creatively stir fried the fish meat and loaded it back on the crispy butterfly fish body with nice crunchy skin. The staff is nice and efficient. The restaurant itself has around 6-7 tables and it does get a little warm inside. There were also a few flies that wanted to dine with us but unavoidable with the door constantly opening for customers. read more

I love this place. My fiance's family is Filipino so when we don't eat Filipino food at home, this is my favorite place to get it. I love the eggplant torta which is like eggplant and egg. Then, I got the bangus sisig, which is like a milk fish friend and mixed with onions. Then, I got my favorite noodles dish, palabok, which is like thin rice noodles with a sauce and pork, chicharrones, and pieces of shrimp. So good. They also have like pork BBQ sticks, lechon or friend pork... All the Filipino dishes you can think of. Their signature dish Halo Halo or "mix mix" as the translation goes (lol) is my favorite. It is a condensed milk and shave ice with corn flakes, red beans, coconut jellies, flan, taro ice cream, and more probably that I'm missing, but its so good! We came here for a late lunch today because of a review we saw on instagram. When we arrived the restaurant was packed with Filipino people, a good sign! We ordered what was recommended by Josiaheats which included the lumpia, pork sisig, kare kare and the pancit canton. The lumpia are good but not much different from any spring roll you'd get anywhere else. We also got the pork belly appetizer which was similar to Haitian griot and also included fried tofu and it was DELICIOUS. I sort of regret not going a bit more adventurous with the second appetizer and getting the baked seafood dynamite as that's one of my fave things to get on sushi nights. Of the three entrees we all agreed the pork was the best. There was a drizzle of a white sauce on top that was to die for. I don't know what it was but I could've drank it and wish it had more. The oxtail was cooked well but the stew has a smoky taste and the description said it would be peanut sauce so I was anticipating something sweeter? It was good but not something I'd order again. The pancit was a simple noodle , meat, veggie dish but was really good. We also tried the halo halo for dessert and boy was that ....different. It was so strange eating dessert with chunks of beans and potatoes lol. It turned into a weird slushy mess pretty quickly. The food is very authentic Filipino food. We love the pork adobo, eggplant omelette and the stuffed pompano. The halo halo is YUM !!! If you like the Vietnamese che 3 mau (3 bean desert), the halo halo is up the same alley. We have never eaten in the restaurant. We have only ordered take out. The restaurant closes very early...on some days, it closes at 7PM so order early. Also give it plenty of time... sometimes we arrive 1 hour after ordering and the food is JUST ready when we arrive. My year has just been made! Up untIl today, Pampanguena was my go to place for authentic Filipino food. That was until my two Filipino coworkers informed me of this hidden gem that is literally 5 minutes away from my home. It's located in the same plaza that I get my pizza from Pizza Hut (go figure!). I was lucky enough to get there before the lunch rush. Unfortunately the BBQ skewers weren't ready but that's an easy excuse for me to go back...as if I need one. I really had my tastebuds set on those. Anywho I ordered the Pancit Bihon and the Lumpia Shanghai! My absolute favs! Everything was made fresh and I love fresh pancit! The portions were plentiful and very delicious. The pancit was better than Pampanguena's pancit. I think it was the generous amount of cabbage that was in it. Filipino food IS home cooking, and this cafe lives up to it without exception. This is what my mother-in-law served non-stop, and what my wife makes and more with an impressively complete menu. These folks have been in Pembroke Pines for a while now, and I soon saw why it has staying power. Prices are extremely reasonable. The family running Manila Grill eat their meals here, too, as do Filipinos looking for authenticity. It's a mixed crowd, though, and I saw people from every walk of life come in as well as picking up orders. I had the pictured "Bulalo" soup, including generous portions of beef on the bone with soft tendon and marrow. The broth was fragrant with healthy vegetables as well and this premium specialty fed both my wife and I with plenty of table fare and nostalgia for visits to her hometown where I first encountered this delight. My wife had the grilled Asian eggplant battered in egg, garlic, and ground pork (Tortang Talong) which was even better than her own cooking (sorry, dear!). All dishes are accompanied by rice, since failure to do this would be practically a jail-able offense in a Filipino restaurant. Service was attentive, warm and helpful. I even got my side dish of complimentary "labuyo" (tiny firecracker chilis) and "patis" fish sauce upon request to salt and spice up my tongue with a snap. Unlike Thai food, Filipino food is not normally spicy by most measures. My preference here. If I had to find a quibble, the ambience is just a simple cafe setting, and once we found the doors closed without explanation a few months back. There really aren't a lot of Filipino restaurants around here and when I find out there is one and got invited to this place by a fellow Filipino friend made me super excited. We definitely ordered a lot for just the two of us... but don't worry, we took the left overs home and it was well worth it! What I absolutely love about this place is that they have breakfast and they open at 10 am! How lovely is that! I got to have my breakfast lunch and dinner in one joint. I came here as I was in the area and had read the reviews. It was 12 o clock when I arrived on a Friday afternoon and it started to get busy around 1, always a good sign. The lady who served me was very friendly smiley and sweet n helped me choose my dish. The location is in an outdoor mall complex, so plenty of parking. The inside of the restaurant was clean, as was the bathroom. Prices are reasonable and plenty of choice. So me & my mom came here because my Dad, who had been recovering in the hospital from heart surgery, wanted to eat Filipino food for the first time in a long time. So I was able to benefit and eat some as well. We had Filipino BBQ sticks, Garlic rice, Pancit and Lumpia. I believe the Lumpia is sourced from multiple places as sometimes it's the flaky exterior and then sometimes in the more egg-roll like exterior, both are good but for those who are precise in their Lumpia preferences just know that it's hit or miss if you like one versus the other. The BBQ sticks were good and at a reasonable price at $1.50 for each. Pancit Bihon was a little too saucy but still had good flavor and the garlic rice was a nice touch but they add soy sauce to it and as tons of Filipinos just use garlic, oil and the rice itself with maybe a pinch of salt the soy sauce may come as a bit of a surprise. Whether it's a good surprise or a bad surprise that's up to each individual patron. Overall, I like the vibe of the restaurant, the service was great and it's nice to be around fellow Filipinos as I eat. I look forward to trying other dishes and overall I had a very very good experience which is why I'm giving a strong 4-star rating. Next time I'll go after the Kare Kare. read more

The check included a service fee of 18% and they wanted a tip on top of that. Literally the only service was taking the order and putting the food in the table. A friend of mine told me I needed to try Filipino food so I searched for a local spot and headed over. I'm not familiar with their food or menu items at all so I asked for a little help from a woman behind the counter. She wasn't really that helpful in making recommendations so I asked for a noodle and vegetable dish. While I waited, I observed a steady flow of people that seemed like regulars because they spoke with the staff as if they were friends. The vibe was very positive. My food came out quickly and I grabbed my bag and headed to my sisters house, 2 minutes away to eat. Truthfully, I tasted nothing but salt. There were no other components that stood out in the dish, not garlic, not herbs or spices, nothing tangy or sweet no special regional specific flavors...Just SALT. Not that It was too salty. Just that I didn't get any other flavors that would have made the dish tasty. It was very bland and flavorless aside from salt. I nibbled a little and threw the rest away. Maybe I chose the wrong dish but I was not impressed at all. I don't find any need to want to return. read more

Located in a strip mall, it's a small mom & pop that has good food, good portions, good price. We were able to order multiple dishes to pick from family style, & we were all happy with our orders. There's a decent variety of things to choose from, & the menu's even divided into different categories to make it easy. My sister ordered the chicken sisig (seasoned chicken chunks with vegetables) and her friend ordered the kare-kare (ox-tail in peanut-based gravy). I think my dish was the most delicious because it was well-seasoned with a creamy rich sauce. It reminded me of a non-fried version of country-fried steak and gravy. All dishes were served with plain, white rice (not Jasmine rice). My sister's dish tasted okay. It did not have enough sauce for my liking. The oxtail was tender but did have a good amount of cartilage and gristle. The peanut-sauce was savory with some fresh string beans. I'm used to Jamaican style ox-tail so this was a little plain for my taste. My sister also ordered a taro slush with boba which had a great, creamy, perfectly sweet flavor. We shared a halo-halo. It was plenty for 2 - 3 people. Some of the best halo-halo I have had. I love that they add frosted flakes a topping. It gives it surprising, unique crunch. I'm not mad at the food here.
