This place has great food however there prices tend to be a little high for some of the food choices. We orders the Caesar salad and it was mostly lettuce that cost 13 dollars. I understand that some salads have expensive ingredients on them but this was just a Caesar salad with no chicken. So that was a little disappointing. On South Hill, you have a great spot if you are a true beer connoisseur. This place serves over 60 types of quality beers on tap. 11 of them I believe are also gluten free. Also, the food is all made from scratch and made to order. I had the best French Dip sandwich and fresh salad with bleu cheese vinaigrette dressing. Waited 25 min for a table while staring at empty tables that needed to be bussed. No one seemed in a hurry to do that leaving us and many others waiting long past what would have been a quick process. When we finally got to our table we waited ten min without seeing anyone. They were busy but not overwhelmingly so. Not one server came to check on us or let us know they would be right there so we just left. Too bad cause I really wanted that strawberry cream ale. This place is my inspiration for joining Yelp in the first place because I was that unhappy about our time there. We went here last saturday at about 2 in afternoon. I was super excited to try this place, since we drive by it all the time and totally disappointed when I left. Dry Dry Dry and absolutely Flavorless was the theme for the day apparently. The Food: Started with the soy caramel chicken wings. The meat was super dry. The slaw on the bottom was better than anything else on the plate. I actually ate ALL of that slaw, because I liked it that much. The wings stayed on the plate. The yam chips were fine. My husband is a french dip fanatic and ordered the Canon Park French Dip. He didn't even finish it, which is pretty much unheard of for him, like ever. The meat was dry and the au jus literally tasted like warm, MILDLY salted water. No flavor at all, whatsoever. We actually passed it around the table so the other two adults could taste it. I ordered the Carne Adovado and was so disappointed. AGAIN, the meat was dry tasting, even though it was obviously grease covered (not super greasy, but you would expect by looking at it for it to be moist and tender.) The entire plate was absolutely void of flavor and magic. The tortillas were cold and rubbery. We all ended up passing everything around to see who actually had a good tasting dish. My brother in law had the best thing at the table with the Five Spice Smoked Pork, the flavor was great even though the meat was again dry. My sister in law had the fish tacos, which were fine and at least had some flavor to them. My husband and I both got the green chile mac and cheese on the side. I absolutely love gourmet Mac and order it everywhere. If it had been fresh, I'm sure it would have been better. It tasted like it sat in an uncovered crockpot for 24 hrs. The Service: I asked the waiter to tell me what the favorite menu items were and he said"what do you mean?" and then stared at me with annoyance. I was a waitress at the same place for 10 years and that was a question asked by every new customer we ever had come in to the place. Pretty standard line of questioning for the hospitality field. I felt like this guy pretty much hated his job and thought that waiting on us was the biggest waste of his time. This continued for the duration of the visit. We still tipped him appropriately, but were turned off by his attitude. The food was flavorless and dry, and therefore overpriced. The service was fine if you can overlook the fact that your waiter obviously can't stand you. We will not be recommending this place and I don't think I will ever return. read more

As a vegetarian, I was skeptical of the bunless South Hill Veggie Burger, but, while a little messy to eat, was wonderful and the yam and brean patty was very flavorful! (A concept that some meatless burgers struggle to obtain) Get it with a side of their perfectly seasoned fries so that you have good balance of healthy and not-so-much. Im now a believer of a bunless "burger". The service was very prompt and great. read more

Anybody who has anything bad to say about manito must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. Their food is amazing, and CONSISTENT. I go to GU and my friends and I love to eat there, but it's nice to have a place I can take my parents when they visit and know it will be good. Hit the Manito Tap House for a brew and a burger on a Thursday evening, around 6pm. BUSY!!!! They were pretty busy but 4 of us managed to score a table without having to wait, which was nice. Our server was there b promptly and it wasn't long before we had water and beers in front of us. And speaking of beers, there are A LOT!!!! They definitely have quite a selection to choose from, light to dark, hippy to mild. If you can't find something you like, you must be a mutant from another planet:) The food is tasty...... between the four of us there were wings, beef lettuce wraps, a Gouda burger and an open face pork belly sandwich with a Sunnyside up egg....... all very good. The only word of caution...... I asked for some mayo and the world stopped. I asked my server for some and he promptly forgot.
