So when the decision came to find a place, we said why not? We came on a Friday, which was even better, because we were able to take advantage of their Friday fish fry. I looked on Yelp to see what we should order while here and the fish fry got a lot of mentions so we decided to try that and some of their BBQ. The fish fry was worth the mention. It was AYCE but I would be surprised if you could want more after the first plate with their generous portions sizes. The fries were in-house hand cut and covered with Parmesan cheese. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It was a great Up North-style fish fry. The BBQ was very good as well. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and it came on a giant bun. Once again, the portion sizes were very generous. The sandwich came with a side of homemade BBQ sauce but honestly the meat had such a good flavor I didn't even need to add any to the sandwich. I have to give them a thumbs up for making many of their items like sauces and sides in-house even though it seemed like they could get away with less quality for being a small town bar & grill. This place really hit the spot, we were looking for no frills comfort food, and that is exactly what we found at The Shack. Price point vs. portion sizes were great and the service was small town friendly and prompt. Looks can be deceiving but The Shack isn't the dumpy bar I thought it was at first and I am glad we gave this place a shot.
