They have amazing fresh donuts. Never dry and so fluffy. Depending on the day, the donuts sell out fast so arriving earlier is best! The sandwiches are a little pricey, but reasonably so. We tried the BLT and the breakfast croissant. The croissant is so soft and fresh and the bacon is fresh. A high quality meal for sure!

Rollo's is an unassuming store that sits on the corner of Jackson Street and 13th Street. I can't believe I never knew about this place. I've driven by it hundreds of times, going back and forth to Japantown. They've been in business for over 30 years! They make classic old-school donuts and tasty breakfast/croissant sandwiches, coffee, and other drinks. They have a few tables inside the store. I got 1 dozen assorted donuts for $20. They accept credit card and cash. I only tried the glazed raised donut, which was fluffy and lightly sweet. The others went to workers doing some piping.

Great spot to get a cup of joe and a donut or breakfast sandwich. Stopped by while working on something and ordered a cup with a fried egg sandwich with turkey and cheese it comes with let and Tom and some mayo on the roll. It was bigger than it looked but it was a decent sandwich. With a good cup of coffee to wash it down with. Good service also very welcoming.

Found this cute little coffee and donut shop nestled in a cute neighborhood by JapanTown and decided to try it! The owner was super nice and even gave me an extra donut because it was my first time there. We ordered the iced coffee, glazed donut, and egg croissant sandwich. The coffee is milky and sweet, donut was fluffy and lightly glazed, and the croissant sandwich was hefty. Everything was super good , I will def be coming back!

Where do I start ... breakfast or donuts? Both good with a side of nearly awesome but missing that something. The service was really nice and friendly. Surely it felt that there were regulars who stopped by often. And then folks like me ... Breakfast sandwich comes in various forms from croissants, bagels, etc. I got a croissant vessel when bagels were none to be had. The croissant was tasty and the eggs smooth plus not overcooked. Bacon was hard so that was a let downs. Made through the whole thing and it was filling. Sorry no pic! It was a 4.5 rating for me. The donuts were fluffy and huge except for the smaller ones and holes. A dozen for my friends and colleagues. Not super sweet like others so you could probably pack a few away. I liked the Apple fritter also without being annoyingly sweet. So there is definitely consistency and a theme going here, so super sweet tooth need not apply. I would have liked a bit more moisture in them so I feel the decadence but having said, they are solid donuts. Ranking them a 4+. Enjoy!!

I can't believe it took me this long to check out Rollo's, but I'm so glad I finally did! The exterior of this place kind of looks like it's been frozen in time for 25 years, and the inside is slightly retro, as well. When you walk in, you're instantly welcomed by the very sweet store managers, Karen and Eina, and the vibe is VERY mom & pop. I visited on a Saturday morning, so it was busier than usual, but the line moved quickly. I tried to order a Thai Iced Coffee, which was on the menu, but they were out of iced coffee completely, so I got a hot coffee instead. We also got a few donuts - a Maple Bar (maple frosting, custard cream filling) and a Glazed Donut. Despite the lack of iced coffee, the overall experience was very pleasant. When my boyfriend had stopped in the morning before, they had even snuck a bunch of free donut holes into his box. We ended up eating the donuts in Backesto Park, which is right across the street, and it was a fantastic way to start the morning. Both donuts were delicious - not too sweet, great texture, SO much filling inside the Maple Bar. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Occasionally burnt espresso but I love them too much to mind. I am a matcha snob to say the LEAST. Hands down best coffee shop matcha in the Bay Area. The classic iced matcha latte with honey is grassy and earthy and creamy and a little sweet. The iced banana pudding matcha latte had people lined up around the corner for months when it came out. It is deliciously worth the wait. Best banana cold foam in my opinion because it's made with actual bananas instead of flavoring so it's much more mellow. The double matcha they had for awhile is also awesome. Banana cold foam also goes great on an espresso latte. Now they let you add whichever cold foam you like to whatever drink which is great. Basically you can't go wrong. They are always changing up the menu for the new season and have lots of unique drinks on their menu. Not much seating inside at this location. The winchester Blvd one has more if that's what you're looking for. Their pastries are also all yummy and they sell their matcha powder for $60 for 100g which is a GREAT price for a great matcha. I would've gate kept this place but everyone already knows about it so I HAVE to show them the love they deserve!!

We ordered a Cortado and the Honey Sea Salt Latte -- both were excellent. The espresso was rich, smooth, and perfectly pulled, which really showed in both drinks. They clearly have strong breakfast options overall -- the cheesy toast pictured on their page looked amazing too. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. In this case, one of these spots is Arisan. Since Matcha has exploded in popularity to my annoyance, (I say this because I was into Matcha before it started trending), I had to try. Once inside, everything looks aesthetically pleasing with seating on either side up against the walls. The layout is clean and non cluttered which I can appreciate from a design standpoint. The menu is clearly displayed on the countertop and it's nice to see that you still have an actual person to take your order. No iPad ordering here. Please keep it that way! I also loved the high ceilings and bright light from the floor to ceiling windows in the front. As you look to the right, you can also see all the Arisan branded products including canvas tote bags and loose leaf tea canisters lining the wall shelves. Nice touch. Now let's get to the good stuff. They specifically told me about one drink that was so unique and refreshing. Which drink was it? **Matcha Cloud Coconut Water $8.95- 100% fresh young coconut water + Matcha cream: This drink was so unique because the coconut water was so distinct and refreshing. The Matcha cream sat on top before slowly trickling down to mix in with the coconut water. I would have never thought to put these 2 flavors together. It was delicious especially on a day where it was 97 degrees here in SJ.

The strawberry matcha einspänner was beautifully presented, with strawberry jam at the bottom and a thick layer of strawberry foam on top. Unfortunately, the flavor and texture did not quite live up to the presentation. Even after mixing it thoroughly, the matcha tasted thin and was overpowered by an overly sweet, artificial strawberry flavor. It may be a fun choice for someone looking for a cute, sweet drink to photograph, but serious matcha lovers may find it underwhelming. The honey matcha was an even bigger miss for us. That said, they offer several unique drinks, including pennywort-based options, that I have not seen elsewhere and may be worth trying instead. Overall, the space and presentation were lovely, but the matcha itself fell short of expectations.
