I was in the area & googled donuts which led me to Rollo's! I found parking to be difficult on a Sunday morning. There was no street parking, across the street is a nice field area where people had a soccer game & playing tennis so of course limited parking there, but I ended up finding a spot and it was a nice little walk needed for the donut consumption. The inside is super casual, good amount of inside seating. The staff were so so nice, super friendly service, very welcoming and didn't feel rushed when I was looking at all the donut options. The donuts were so incredible!!! Soooo fresh , and light and not too doughy. My favorite was the cake donut with strawberry icing & rainbow sprinkles. Great place for breakfast, the egg is actually seasoned! It taste homemade because it is.

They have amazing fresh donuts. Never dry and so fluffy. Depending on the day, the donuts sell out fast so arriving earlier is best! The sandwiches are a little pricey, but reasonably so. We tried the BLT and the breakfast croissant. The croissant is so soft and fresh and the bacon is fresh. A high quality meal for sure! read more

Was in the area and am always down to try a new donut place. Stopped by about 11:30 on a Saturday morning, supposedly 30 minutes before closing (Google Maps says they close at 12 noon, whereas Yelp and their website say they close at 1pm, not sure which is accurate). They only had a few varieties of donuts left, so I got a glazed donut, a cinnamon twist, and a blueberry cake donut. All pretty tasty, but their yeasted donut doughs are definitely denser and not as fluffy as those from Stan's Donuts. However, the employees were super friendly, and they also threw in an extra glazed donut, so I was able to score four donuts for $7.50 -- quite a good deal for fresh donuts in this day and age! read more

Rollo's is an unassuming store that sits on the corner of Jackson Street and 13th Street. I can't believe I never knew about this place. I've driven by it hundreds of times, going back and forth to Japantown. They've been in business for over 30 years! They make classic old-school donuts and tasty breakfast/croissant sandwiches, coffee, and other drinks. They have a few tables inside the store. I got 1 dozen assorted donuts for $20. Found this cute little coffee and donut shop nestled in a cute neighborhood by JapanTown and decided to try it! The owner was super nice and even gave me an extra donut because it was my first time there. We ordered the iced coffee, glazed donut, and egg croissant sandwich. I enjoy supporting this local business! I am not much of a donut person myself, but the people working here are always kind and efficient. They tend to throw in extra donuts or donut holes if you're ordering a decent number of donuts. They also have bagels and croissant sandwiches, which I tend to prefer for breakfast. I recently got an egg and cheese bagel sandwich, and it was cooked and put together wonderfully. They give you a little separate side of jalapeños, which I appreciate. Pricing as of May 2024 was $20 for a dozen regular donuts (+ they included two extra donuts), $12 for the sandwich (not the cheapest, but again done very well). There's just a tiny bit of seating inside, but everything is packaged to go and it's no frills inside anyway. Street parking is usually available on side streets or by Backesto Park. read more

It's been a while since my last visit to Rollo's but I'm glad to see that they are still as popular as ever. I used to have their glazed and chocolate covered raised donuts at work on Mondays and have always thought the dough quality was top notch. I came by for donuts myself maybe once or twice a couple of years ago, then sadly stopped coming around because I moved away from the area. More than once I'd stop by after sneaking away early for lunch only to find that they had sold out of donuts an hour before closing. During my most recent visit, I made sure to head over during breakfast hours to avoid being disappointed again. I would recommend getting any of the raised donuts, especially the glazed since that one always looks the best. I'm usually a donut hole lover but the donut holes here just don't have the same draw to them as the donuts themselves (not that they're bad but just notably less great). I'm not personally a big fan of cake donuts but I heard that the ones here are done with a little extra cinnamon, so if that's your thing then go for it but if it isn't then steer clear. They do take credit card which is always one of my concerns when it comes to donut shops. On the latest visit I was surprised to find one extra glazed donut in the bag, reading other reviews I guess a bonus donut or two isn't uncommon but I thought that was only for orders of a dozen or larger. Guess it doesn't hurt to mention which donut is your favorite while inside the store. read more

Surely it felt that there were regulars who stopped by often. And then folks like me ... Breakfast sandwich comes in various forms from croissants, bagels, etc. I got a croissant vessel when bagels were none to be had. The croissant was tasty and the eggs smooth plus not overcooked. Bacon was hard so that was a let downs. Made through the whole thing and it was filling. Sorry no pic! It was a 4.5 rating for me. The donuts were fluffy and huge except for the smaller ones and holes. A dozen for my friends and colleagues. Not super sweet like others so you could probably pack a few away. I liked the Apple fritter also without being annoyingly sweet. So there is definitely consistency and a theme going here, so super sweet tooth need not apply. I would have liked a bit more moisture in them so I feel the decadence but having said, they are solid donuts. Ranking them a 4+. Enjoy!! read more

I can't believe it took me this long to check out Rollo's, but I'm so glad I finally did! The exterior of this place kind of looks like it's been frozen in time for 25 years, and the inside is slightly retro, as well. When you walk in, you're instantly welcomed by the very sweet store managers, Karen and Eina, and the vibe is VERY mom & pop. I visited on a Saturday morning, so it was busier than usual, but the line moved quickly. I tried to order a Thai Iced Coffee, which was on the menu, but they were out of iced coffee completely, so I got a hot coffee instead. We also got a few donuts - a Maple Bar (maple frosting, custard cream filling) and a Glazed Donut. Despite the lack of iced coffee, the overall experience was very pleasant. When my boyfriend had stopped in the morning before, they had even snuck a bunch of free donut holes into his box. We ended up eating the donuts in Backesto Park, which is right across the street, and it was a fantastic way to start the morning. Both donuts were delicious - not too sweet, great texture, SO much filling inside the Maple Bar. I will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Rollo's has excellent donuts, perfect texture and flavors, not too sweet. The chocolate donut was light and fluffy, plain with a simple layer of chocolate glaze on top... tasted similar to what could be found at Safeway (that's not a bad thing). The blueberry donut was more dense like cake (old fashioned), crumbly in your mouth, blueberry bits evenly distributed, and a thin layer of glaze all around. These were mini size, about 3 inches in diameter. Blueberry donuts are hard to find, so I was happy to see this option on the menu (and I'd pick this place over Dunkin donuts anyday). I visited at 4am when the store opens...well actually the owner/worker arrived and opened up about 10-15 minutes later. The donuts were fully stocked, wide variety of choices, the lady helping me was kind, answered my questions about different donuts, and provided top notch service. Another employee helped serve a fresh cup of coffee, so hot that my fingers were burning as I walked to my car, even with the cardboard sleeve. I thought I'd be the only customer so early in the morning, but there were also 3 police officers hanging outside (not coming in at the same time, necessary to social distance since it's such a small shop). I stopped by mid-Friday morning to celebrate with donuts after my COVID vaccine. From what I can tell they don't have a parking lot, but there was plenty of parking across the street by the park. The staff were very friendly and I didn't feel rushed. When we got home we noticed they have us extra donuts!! Thank you so much! The Apple fritter was not too sweet or greasy, which we loved. I never knew there was a donut shop at this corner it's just by sheer luck that I came upon this goldmine. Like so many other business social distance is the norm and they have tape marks indicating 6 feet apart. Was the only customer and the staff was very helpful and attentive. Notice the prices were not listed so I asked the lady and the glazed, plain and chocolate were $1.50 each and the large glazed croissant and twisted roll donut were $2.50. not the small size version. They also have cold/hot drinks and breakfast croissants. Definitely be back and not very far from Japantown.
