I love me some Manley's.... full stop. So beware. This may hamstring my ability to review objectively, here. I stopped here recently, again, often... enjoying very much the snow that completely covered everything in sight - and allowed for one full "cookie" in the parking lot before strolling inside for a tall glass of water and some grub. Manley's (especially with a good snowfall) just feels like a place a guy might pull up to in a horse drawn wagon. Or a snowmobile. Or a quad. And sure enough, it is that kind of place (though I'm still hoping to see the wagon/horse guy. Someday...) I love the warm rustic interior. I'm a huge sucker for open ceilings and exposed wood framing. And then there's the food. Manley's is like most other places. They have food items they really do well... and others that they are mediocre at. IMO... they aren't exactly the place to go for halibut fish & chips, or even chicken strips. But they're a great place to go for burgers, broasted chicken, or even a reasonable steak. For me though... the experience is much less about the food and more about the mix of people and the building itself. I wouldn't say they're the cheapest at anything, but not the most expensive either. YMMV, of course. Manley's is sure to offer something to get your belly to hush. And if you don't love the food, there are pool tables. Or the truck stop out around chemult... there's a subway. :) read more

Some of the better fish and chips I've had in a while, not necessarily traditional, as the fish is Panko breaded, then deep fried, but delicious! 3 big pieces of fish, comes with a choice of fries, green salad, or cole slaw! I had the green stuff! It's a cool, old fashioned bar, it has Lotto machines, at least 6 draft beers, and a friendly group of folks working there! Solid food, priced fairly! read more

Read a lot of good/great reviews, decided it was wort a try. We like dive bars if they have good food and service, neither was the case today . Chicken was very bland-tasteless, potatoes, JoJos were over done, oily and tasteless. The chicken here blew me away, best I've ever had! The "jojo's" (house cut potatoes) were crispy on the outside/soft on the inside and they make their own horse radish sauce which my boyfriend couldn't get enough of! I can't handle hot too well so the waitress (who was doing an awesome job running the place pretty much alone!) gave me the tip to mix it with the ketchup and ranch to still get the flavor without too much spicy. This is the quintessential Oregon tavern. There are so many animal's heads mounted on the walls that I can't count them all or name their species. Most of the creatures have a large rack of antlers on their adorable stuffed heads and they eye you ask you eat. Manley's caters to the hunting, fishing, and outdoor crowd that can be found tucked into Oregon's Cascade mountains. Customers either smell strongly of pine or just plain strongly. They only serve domestic beer (by which I mean Bud or Coors) and a single hefeweizen (which is actually pretty good). But the real reason anyone goes to Manley's is for the Broasted Chicken. You are probably thinking that's a typo, she means Roasted chicken. But alas, I really mean broasted. After asking what exactly that meant, the woman who worked there explained that they pressure cook the chicken in hot oil. I feel my arteries cinch tighter and realize that is why the meat always tastes so succulent and juicy. In either case, the chicken looks like fried chicken, it arrives on a piece of wax paper (on a plastic tray). No plates are distributed so you and your dining partners are free eat the chicken and joes stright from the wax paper. Of course it is traditional to dip the chicken in one of the three sauces they bring out with your meal (watch our for the spicy mustard, it will clear your sinuses for days). I long for the day I can return to Manley's. Prices are dirt cheap--but you have to pay with cash. Pool, darts, and video poker for your after-dinner entertainment. read more

I wish it hadn't taken me over 30 years to realize broasted chicken was the BEST WAY TO EAT CHICKEN EVER. But at least it didn't take me 60 years, right?! Manley's is the best place to get a bite while you're in the Junction. It's laid back, comfortable. You can waste some time looking at the rest of the menu, or you can just order the broasted chicken. You'll thank me. (But for the record, the fish is also good) For a place serving such a small community, I'm surprised at the depth of their beer and wine selection. They may only have a handful of draft beers, but they have a more than decent bottle selection - including some Oregon craft beers - all at good prices. My family has property nearby, and I spend lots of weekends up there. One requirement is that Manley's be on our menu for at least one of the nights we're there. The service is always as fast as it can be - magical chicken takes time and is made to order - and the staff go out of their way to make us feel at home (including one incident when it was looking like hubby would miss a huge basketball game on TV, and Manley's was kind enough to convince people to let us change the channel. A total disaster was averted!) It's so unfortunate that the magical chicken must reside so far away from me, but I think my arteries and waistline are glad about that! Cash only. Pool tables. Well, sad to bring down the star rating, but let's face it folks.......if you are a "local" your food and service is going to be better than that of a "drive by". Stopped here today for famous broasted chicken and jo jo's. Only one person working the bar and the floor (it was 12:30pm - busy lunch hour). You couldn't have pasted a smile on this ladies' face - she was not a "happy to serve you" type person. Service: It took us about 30-40 minutes to get our food. Others came in after us and were served before us. No one ever came back to our table. The guy working the kitchen finally brought our food to us. Three people sat behind us and no one helped them for about 15 minutes. We tried to make contact with the wait staff when they went to that table and they totally ignored us. We had to go to the bar and ask for another beer. Food: We ordered two separate orders of chicken and jo jos - they put it on one serving platter. You are given a fork, knife and piece of thin paper to eat your food on the surface of the table. No plate. Yuck! How many germs are included? As soon as the hot chicken is placed on the paper you can see right to the table and it sticks to it and makes everything greasy. We also noticed when people came in and were welcomed "by name" = "locals" they had immediate attention. Plus, thier food was served separately in baskets - while ours was on the table on thin paper for both of us. Their portions appeared somewhat larger also. We asked for a "to go" box and it consisted of a small narrow long bag which we had to stuff chicken and potatoes in - while the "locals" walked out with nice brown bags with handles. We had 8 pieces of chicken and about one large potatoe between our two orders. The potatoe was pale and not broasted, roasted nor had any type of coating or seasoning on it - just a somewhat "steamed" potatoe for the two of us to share. Look at photos others have placed here - broasted potatoes and chicken are not pale and always have a crust! We heard several comments by the wait staff about "how busy they were" however, having worked in food service many times and in many different types of restaurants - they were NOT busy - they just had a typical lunch crowd, which you would expect. Either poor planning or poorly trained employees were the problem today. Also quit noticeable was the fact that as soon as we left all we could tast and smell was the oil the food was cooked in. Fresh oil does not leave that type of smell or taste. Seems like we caught the tail end of the fryer/broaster oil's life span. Will we come back? Who knows? Maybe it was a bad day due to employee shortages or poor planning. We have heard nothing but good about this place for years. We looked forward to our Sunday outing and famous broasted chicken....maybe we will give them another chance. If they want to stay in business and grow, hopefully they will make some changes and recognize every customer, not just the ones they know by name. read more

Rite of passage in my family. Broasted chicken is a must everytime I visit the family cabin in the area. Waitressess are sassy and its cash only, but you're in the middle of the wilderness for crissake. I love taking people here for the first time and having them experience manleys in all its glory. Trying to explain it to those who've never been just doesnt work- they'll think your're crazy. Wouldnt recommend the pizza as i think its out of a tositos box and put in the microwave. Clam strips and soup were both good. Theyve been skimping on the ranch the past few years so always ask for extra. I wish they would make the jojos thinner like they used too as well. All minor gripes, because its not everyday you can feed four adults with 4 orders of chicken and multiple pitchers of beer for $75 I will always be back. read more

Can they cook broasted chicken! It was outstanding! The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The chicken is served with sliced potatoes called "Jo-jos", which were tender and crispy. The chicken and potatoes are served with ketchup, hot mustard, and ranch dressing. We also ordered fried mushrooms, fried cauliflower, and onion rings, which were delicious. They were cooked to perfection. As you can see it is heavy on fried foods, so if fried foods are not on your list of likes, this is not for you. They have a full bar, slot machines, pool table, and a huge fireplace. The building is rustic inside with clean restrooms. Love the animal heads on the wall as it adds character to the place. Their menu is heavily fried and chicken based, so if you don't like that kind of food, you're SOL. We've tried the potato wedges, and they were alright. Prices are decent. Good service, although not a busy night. Came in on recommendation from host of camping site we were staying at. Husband got the chicken and enjoyed it very much. Potatoes could use some seasoning to make them more "jo-jo" like. I had the burger with pepperjack, not recommended. Cheese was not "real" and burger patty was performed, frozen type. I understand the need to keep costs down and with limited inventory I wasn't expecting fresh beef but this patty was bland and boring. Fries are crinkle-cut, not my fave. I fondly remember the day we decided to hop on our Harley and ride specifically to Manley's for some chicken. The best chicken I have ever eaten. Also, one of the coldest rides of my life, but the chicken was so worth it. I long for the sun to come out so I can return to Manley's. When we visited Manley's the forest fire was just being put out so lots of hard working fire fighters were having a good meal. Our waitress asked if we wanted a whole or half chicken. These are your options, it comes served on wax paper on a plastic tray with joe's and several dipping sauces and boy is it hard to stop eating. We almost got another chicken to go! My wife and I own a cabin about a dozen miles from Crescent Lake, so we dine at Manley's at least once on every trip we make there. We always get the Broasted Chicken and Jo-Jo potatoes (their house specialty) and THEY... ARE... AWESOME. (Anybody who says differently is probably from California and used to sushi bars.) The atmosphere is great and the service is outstanding, with friendly attentive servers (Hi, Sheryl!) The only downside is that they only take cash, but it's a small price to pay for the meal and the experience! (Plus, they have an ATM machine on site, if you're a little short on folding green.) My husband and I used to love this place. We frequently ride our motorcycle here. It is a beautiful scenic route. After our last trip here on July 5th 2020. WE WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. It is my husbands practice to put his motorcycle up on the rack and due a full inspection before we ride, fluids, air, safety check etc. All was well on ride up. We got there at 3:30 PM and was there for 1 hour. We were dressed in full leathers and of course mask due to covid restrictions. We had a wonderful meal as always. We left, got our motorcycle only to find that someone must have been offended by our presence and let all but 2 pounds of pressure out of the front tire.
