I Highly recommend the Mann Eye Center to anyone looking for excellent eye care. The staff is polite and professional staff. With that said, however, I had to go 5 times with an eye pain issue before they diagnosed the cause. Once I saw Dr. Wright for the first time, after four previous visits with one of the other doctors, he quickly identified the possible problem and had lab drawn to check to check for an "auto-immune" disease. In addition he diagnosed glaucoma, too, of which I had no family history but learned it can be an additional result of his suspicion of an "auto-immune" disease. Lab confirmed his initial diagnosis of "auto-immune" disease, identified it as Rheumatoid Arthritis which totally surprised me as I had no symptoms of RA much less knowing it could affect your eyes causing scleritis and glaucoma. He recommended I see an internist/rheumatologist to confirm the diagnosis. I have been confirmed as having RA and am receiving medication for it. He answers all my questions without making feel like he's in a rush. He has suggested but never pushed for a surgical procedure to resolve my glaucoma. He let me choose the option of daily eye drops which are working effectively. Without Dr. Wright's knowledge regarding "auto-immune" diseases as related to eye health, my problem could have gone undiagnosed with labs done in a routine primary care doctor's lab work since I had no other symptoms. Without symptoms, normally lab is not drawn to check for RA. I am very grateful for his knowledge and promptness in diagnosing this problem so I could seek proper treatment to prevent further health issues. read more

Went to see Dr. Morello for a routine eye exam for the first time. They were so efficient and quick with the preliminary steps. Then Dr Morello came in and did his exam. Made me feel very comfortable , answered my questions and made me feel like it was a thorough exam. Then I had to order new lenses but didn't have spare glasses to wear while the made them. So they were able to find where the previous ones were made even though I had gone to a different doctor on the computer. So now I just need to go back when they come in and get them replaced with my current ones. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I was really impressed. read more

I'm really dissapointed of this place and had a bad first customer experience. I chose this place because of the positive reviews, not sure if they are fake. I originally made an appointment to see an Ophthalmologists for my symptom and the phone operator that i spoke to on 12-3-18 at 12:39PM even confirm I will need to see a Ophthalmologist NOT a optómetrist. After the exam, I found out that I wasn't seen by a Ophthalmologist, he was optometrist. To top it off, He had to refer me to a Ophthalmologist because he couldn't properly diagnose my symptoms. Another issue is I had to pay out a big amount of copay. This could have been prevented, save me money and time if I would have seen directly with a Ophthalmologist. Now I have to make another appointment with another Ophthalmologists and take off another day at work and not get paid. . I called and made a complaint to the office manager but he didn't seem to care about it. To provide good customer service, he could have done is reimburse me for my copay that I paid since there was an error made. I'm really dissaponinted of this place and do NOT recommend . read more

Great staff, very friendly. Had cataract surgery which is done in downtown Houston. Excellent results. A little over 5K for one eye but 20/20 result, no pain during or after. My experience at the Mann Eye Institute in Katy, TX was very positive. The staff were friendly, helpful and comforting. My LASIK procedure was easy and exciting. My husband watched the entire process in the observation area. It was fun to give him a thumbs up every now and then so he knew I was doing just fine. Dr. Brian Wright walked me through each step and communicated with me during the entire procedure. He personally called me that afternoon to see how I was feeling. i went in for a "free consultation" to determine if i was a candidate for Lasik and what a complete disappointment. i thought i had chosen a group of professional doctors with a great reputation... not so much, the exam was performed and a trial pair of contacts were given to "try out" how the modified vision would be, as i am nearsighted and over 40 so i have distance and up close vision issues. i was told someone would contact me in a few days to see how i liked the modified vision and we would proceed from there. well that was over a week and a half ago an no contact from the clinic. i called the clinic to find out what is going on and was met with a very defensive staff, after being put on hold several times i then learned my insurance had been billed for an eye exam, which explains the co-pay i was asked to pay (and was told it was "customary") well now I am out of my annal eye exam and still no contacts i was told they would have to check with the Dr. to see if she was going to release contacts for me (funny i have been wearing contacts for over 30 years). I have just booked an appointment with my eye doctor whom i trust with my sight (which i will now have to pay for out of pocket as Mann Eye has billed my insurance for a "free Consultation")and who does not resort to "shady" business practices to lure customers in the door with offers of free consultations only to bill their insurance for an exam. When i spoke to the person in charge of customer service i was told it was my fault because i paid the co pay!! i did inquire what the charge was for and was told "customary" not that i was being charged for a full eye exam. I have contested the charge with my insurance company and will file a complaint with the BBB as well as any other professional organizations or regulatory agencies, and rest assured i will share this experience with everyone i know and caution them to Stay Away from Mann Eye. Extremely dissatisfied with the staff at Mann eye institute in Katy. Went in for a diabetic exam and needed a form filled out today. After the appointment they would not fill out the form as requested and said they would give me a call when it was finished....keep in mind this was a 2 page form that would take less than 1 minute to fill out. I cannot wrap my head around the fact they don't have 1 minute to complete this when that was the sole reason for my appointment. Now I have to free up time out of my schedule to make a trip back to pick up this simple form when it could very easily have been completed on the spot. They clearly have no care or respect for their patients. read more

Always a wait even with an appointment, hour plus and multiple stages to get a basic refill on a prescription. Stick with smaller chains like vision source if you need basic stuff. Clearly for LASIK this place excels but it's overwhelming and unsatisfactory for normal glasses/contacts. read more

I had an overall fantastic esperience with the entire process of getting my lens implant surgery. From start to finish, everything felt professional, and I never worried at all whether I was in great hands of not? The office runs like clockwork, and the employees are not only extremely friendly and kind, but they are also very qualified and efficient at their jobs. I can't state this enough. Dr. Mann is very nice and did a wonderful job, and made sure I felt comfortable with the whole process. I am now a couple of months out of surgery, and so glad I decided to go through with the IOL implants. I got the symphony, which are multi-focal, so I am able to see close-up, middle, and distance vision without glasses now. read more

Just had a wonderful experience at the Katy Mann location for much needed eye exams for myself and my young adult son with special needs. I was concerned about how some health issues over the last year might have affected my eye health, and getting a thorough eye exam for our son has not always been a pleasant experience. As our appointments were 30 minutes apart I was getting very anxious about how it would go with me running back and forth between two rooms from my exam to helping with my son. My fears were soon alleviated when Laurie called me back for my initial screening. When I asked if he could tag along until it was time for his exam Laurie graciously offered to do our appointments together so we wouldn't be apart at all. Laurie not only did a great initial screening on my eyes but she was exceptional with my son, making him feel very comfortable during the entire process, and knowing just how to ask the right things in the right way to get his responses during the vision screening process. She also graciously put up with all the questions my son normally asks of new people he meets (although he is still confused as to how such a nice young lady is not married). Our pleasant experience continued as we saw Dr. Stephanie Turk for our detailed eye exam. Dr. Turk conducted an extremely thorough eye exam on me, especially relative to my health issues, and fortunately no damage was evident. During my son's eye exam, Dr. Turk and her assistant were extremely patient and and sensitive with my son's limitations for the required eye movements and with the bright light used. Though no serious problems were evident with my son's eyes she took the time to let me know of some vision changes to look out for from potential issues related to his special needs. She also suggested an OTC product to help keep his eyelids cleaner to diminish his eye rubbing. All in all, it was one of the most thorough, informative, and pleasant eye exams our son has had in along time. If any other families are in a similar situation I would highly recommend the staff at the Mann Katy location to meet their needs. read more

Worst experience ever. I had my appointment for a contact lens prescription 3 weeks ago, still have no prescription. They are withholding my prescription because I must pay a contact lens fitting fee, even though there is no change to my prescription. There is no explanation of why there is a fee, except that is normal policy. I PAID FOR MY APPOINTMENT AND HAVE NO PRESCRIPTION. - Still wearing glasses and refusing to pay your silly fee. read more

I can't thank the staff at Mann Eye Institute in Katy enough for their care through my LASIK procedure. I visited several different doctors before deciding to go with Mann. From my first conversation with Ashley Hassen on the phone I knew I made the right choice. Ashley was very informative and laid out all the options for me. I actually waited another 3 months after that initial visit to have the procedure. Ashley would check in with me during that time too. Procedure day couldn't have been any better. Dr. Wright and Tina Doring were awesome. Talked me through the whole procedure. All I can say is WOW. To go from not being able to see a foot in front of my face to clear vision is amazing. I really don't know why i waited so long to have it done. The followup appointments with Dr. Wright and Tina Doring were excellent. Explaining how my eyes were healing and what I could expect over the next weeks and months. I have been a patient with the Mann Eye Institute for many, many years, but the reason for writing this review is to talk about my most recent visit. I had an issue with one of my eyes. As it turns out it was an infection. On this particular visit I saw Dr Turk and Kelly. Wow, I always thought these guys were fantastic, but there was something extra special about this team The way Dr Turk explained my issue after giving me a thorough exam made me feel confident that I understood the problem and exactly what I need to do to resolve it. I think it was the time and words that were used that made me feel really good. And Kelly could not have been nicer and seemed to also understand very well what needed to be done. She made sure that my prescription was called in exactly the way we discussed. I am about to go in for a follow up and I can't wait. Went there for my routine eye check up. First time to try this place. We were greeted by the staff they were friendly and introduced themselves. However I felt so rushed. The female doctor who saw me Dr. Turk was speaking too fast and did not even tell me if my eye grade level went up or stayed just the same. She said something that I didn't get that she saw in my eye when she was examining it and told me she will explain it but did not get to. From the first staff down to the doctor, all they kept on telling me and talking about was availing of the lasik. I am a patient and I expected care not rushed and being sold something. I felt like I was a dollar sign and not a human being. A lady named Paige who was supposed to talk to me more about the lasik procedure greeted me, shook my hand and then immediately SANITIZED her hand in front of me now that is sincerity to the max! She can't even wait until I leave before doing that! Sad that this eye institute looked promising however I am very disappointed of how I was treated. read more

August 25, 2011-Eye exam and glasses ordered. I was told it would take two to two and a half weeks to complete. Three weeks later, I had to call them to check status. Was told they were not ready. After another 2 weeks, I called again and was told that the glasses had been completed but there was a scratch on one lens so they would have to remake them. Allow 2 to 3 weeks more. Now we are in early October, and I call yet again and I am told the glasses are here, but they are not right. I call back and issue a cancellation on the glasses and request a refund. They come back and give me these two options. Option 1: Full refund of $381.00, I get copy of prescription., (done, I get my glasses somewhere else) Opton 2: They send my prescription. to their lab to get glasses done. * I get the same frames * 2 to 2.5 weeks to get done * I only pay my co-pay amount and the difference between cost of frames and my insurance frame allowance. Total out of pocket for me-$34.00 Full refund amount less the $34.00 out of pocket for me leaves me with a great refund for all the hassle. Refund will be processed and should take 72 hours to hit my card. Mann will eat the cost of the lenses. (as far as my costs are concerned) and they will file and fight with insurance company for their refund from the lab and the frame allowance. So I take option 2 because after all is said and done, I need glasses Sounds like a great deal right? Well...not so much! Now the glasses (picked up finally on October 19) are here and they are really bad. I am wondering if they actually even had the new second pair of glasses done at all and instead just dispensed the first pair they said were bad , or, maybe they sent the bad pair to their lab to try and salvage them. Either way, the glasses I have in hand are completely not wearable. The reason for this thinking is that the glasses I originally ordered were to have had all three vision corrections in them (near, computer, far). However; when I picked these up, they told me they only did "office lenses" which only contain the computer distance and the reading distance. They gave me a copy of my prescription, and it clearly says on it that the glasses are office lenses. When I tried them on in the office, I could tell then that there were more than two levels of correction. I think they pulled a fast one and never had the second pair done and gave me the original bad ones (which were supposed to have the 3 correction distances in them). I have worn them all day for 2 days, just to make sure and give them a chance, and the prescription is all wrong. It is almost like my distance vision has been added to the entire top half of the lens. The mid-vision (computer distance) is almost missing altogether and the reading lens is this tiny line on the bottom. There are major problems: 1. The distance correction is fine-vision is clear from across the room. 2. The computer screen portion is blurry and extremely narrow and to even find it on the lens, I have to tilt my head back and forth. When I look at a document on the computer screen, I can only see the middle of a sentence and it is blurry. Both the left and right of center of the sentence is completely blurry, like there is no correction at all. That makes me think the correction area is extremely small and narrow in the center of the lens. For working on a computer 8 to 10 hours a day, this is completely unacceptable. I can't sit and move my head back and forth all day like I am watching a tennis match. 3. The reading area is so small at the bottom of the lens that I can hardly find it at all and when I do find it, my vision is very unclear. Since they gave me a partial refund, I doubt they would be willing to re-do the lenses, so I am going to have to go someplace else and start this entire process all over again. All along, the staff in the optical department at Mann has placed total blame for this mess on my insurance company. A large part of the problem most likely does reside with them since they botched the glasses in the first place. But I was constantly given the run around by the staff at Mann, and even though they knew I was frustrated and the whole project was taking way too long, not once did they initiate a call to me to say sorry, thanks for your patience, nothing. They demonstrated "very poor to none" in the customer service department. Only after I called did someone call me back, and only when I requested a refund and told them I was done dealing with them did they take steps to make things right...or so I thought. Given the current situation and the completely unacceptable pair of glasses I now have in hand, I am thinking that they did whatever they could to cut their losses (dealing with the insurance) and left me holding a sub par product that I now have to have redone by someone else. I will never use them again. Look elsewhere if you need glasses! read more

I had lasik surgery two weeks ago at Mann Eye and I'm already seeing 20/15! The staff was amazing! Ashley answered all of my questions. Dr. Wright was so great, as well as Tina, and Laurie. I had a minor panic attack while they were cutting the flaps on my eyes and all three of them talked me through it and helped me calm down so that they could finish. They never rushed me and were really sweet and calming in talking me through the procedure and bearing with my anxiety. This was one of the greatest decisions I've made and I would do it all over again. I've been recommending them to everyone I know! They were all so friendly, professional and did a wonderful job! What an exceptional organization. From the minute I walked in, the customer care was phenomenal. The front desk folks were incredible. The assistant's were diligent and helpful, and my doctor, and I apologize because I forgot her name, was the best. I understand that doctors need to see "x" amount of patients every day, but never once did I feel rushed by her. She took the time to review everything. Explained everything, so there was no "gray" area. If you don't give MEI a chance, you will be selling yourself short, I promise. My wait was a little long, but I would have waited another 30 minutes just because they were that good. I am not complaining about the wait. I have sat for much longer in other doctor's offices. i recently moved to houston for work and needed to find an optometrist. i somehow came upon Mann Eye Institute and was very glad that i did. the staff was amazing. they were professional, courteous and exuded a level of customer service that is hard to find in some of these dr's offices. the standout for me was tina. let me tell you, she is the bomb.com. after my appointment there were some things i needed. she went above and beyond what i asked her for and did it with a smile. hopefully she see's this and is recognized for her efforts. for anyone considering an optometrist, this is the place to go. read more

Consumers beware - I had Eye exam mid July, was told I needed a new distance script - used the on site glasses facility (as it would take my insurance). Picked them up, just couldn't see out of them, took back 2 days later, they did a re-examination -- and the script was 2 times as much as it should have been - doctor took NO responsiblitiy for his technicians error - and the re-do was on me and my insurance. pick up re-done glasses - I asked -- Did you check the lenses against the script - OH YES we double and triple check here.....pfffttt There was something still not right - stopped in a 2 other eye places, had them check the lenses against script, 1 lense was WAY off - took them back again...the lady at the glasses facility agreed and I said I specifically Asked you if these had been checked and you said yes, she said, well not me personally....she was making excuses - and I just said -- this isn't on me -- re-order a new lens and call me. Didn't get an apology, sorry for the inconvenience or anything. Will NEVER do business with this center again. Frankly they don't even deserve a 1 star but the system makes you pick at least one. read more
