My kids were craving Korean bbq and we were in Mesa so we decided to go to Manna BBQ. I had been to the Manna BBQ in Glendale so I figured this one would have the same great service. We about 30 minutes to be sat which was not bad at all considering we were a party of 7. Service was not what we expected. The waitress was not friendly and seemed overworked. We were not greeted and felt rushed when ordering. We had to ask for hot sauce and other things that are usually brought out at the beginning . My husband was still eating when the waitress came and asked him if he was finished using the bottle of hot sauce , when he said no she very rudely picked up the bottle and poured a massive amount of hot sauce on his plate without asking if that was ok. I came here, with my gf (party of 2) 15 mins before a party of 4 came in, they sat them before us. Because we didn't have enough people for the medium size table. Ended up waiting another 30 mins to be seated when no one else was even In the lobby, she came to us and said once they clean the table we will sit you. Well 30 mins past she walks over and ask the new group that just walked in how many people and was getting. Ready to sit them down. I had to speak up, she said why didn't you go sit down, I told her you said wait till the tables clean to be seated... so she ends up sitting us down after 30/40 min wait. Next issue. Took forever for server to com and even get drinks, ordered my meat. Once I was half way though my protein, I wanted to order more she said I had to wait till I ate all the food to order. I thought this was a all you can eat. Didn't think I was limited on the meat I could get cause there's still some on the grill. I've tried their Glendale location and felt this one was just as similar. Great meat marination and friendly service. Had lots of fun showing my friends how to experience their first kbbq. Only thing I noticed was some of their raw larger meats could be cut in smaller pieces such as the spicy chicken. Very overrated. MSG apocalypse. Pessimistically full empty cup of water I like Gen's better first of all. Despite people complimented how savory the food is, there are only 2 dips: soy sauce, salt and pepper. At Gen's there are more dipping sauces. The food is alright. They were filled with MSG. I was so thirsty. The soybean paste soup contains high level of salt. I couldn't finish 5 spoons of it. I felt left out by the waiter. No one ever refilled my water after several times walking past two empty cups (one was my father's). We literally had the cups placed at the end of the table so their hawk's eyes could see. Nope. I didn't know if my table was assigned a specific server or not because the lady who first took my order came back only 3 times. A young lady also came by to take an order. A young lad cleaned up the plates. This very same young lad filled up the water of the table across from us one table down and could not bring his eyes to see that our table also had two cups of empty water. After walking past as 3 times without doing anything, I had to bring up myself to tell him to refill the water. A customer shouldn't have to ask. That was supposed to be automatic. Well, maybe if the restaurant didn't put that many msg in, we wouldn't gulp down our water and waited for over 15 minutes afterward without anyone filling them up. Although, I have to give one star more because they give a lot of food per plate. This place has the most tastiest meats! I was so hungry and occupied with the fun grilling of meats that I forgot to take a picture. It came with your typical Korean side dishes in the beginning. The meats you order 4 at a time. We started with bulgogi, terryaki pork, beef brisket and pork belly. All very amazing. Got full pretty quickly. People keep talking about G*N BBQ being the best Korean BBQ place in the Tempe / Mesa area but I've now been to both G*N and Manna multiple times and there is absolutely no comparison in terms of the quality of the meat and sides. Second time visiting this restaurant last night around 7pm and I took my family with me to try it out. Our server was great and really attentive. He brought out multiple servings of glass noodles, gyoza, and assorted veggies whenever we ran out. We ordered servings of the bulgogi, spicy pork, and garlic shrimp. Everything was great. We also had Sapporo soju bombers that he recommended. Didn't grab his name but he was on top of it! Changed our hot plate multiple times, and had great conversation. I convinced 3 friends to drive in from Phoenix to try this place that I've heard so much about. Upon entering, we just stood there and waited, even though someone was bussing a table right in front of us and a waitress saw us. After about 5+ minutes, a waitress came to the front only to tell us to write our own names on a running list at the cashier desk/area. Once we were seated, we waited about 5 more minutes for a waitress to greet us by asking what we wanted to drink. We chose to place our orders (5 different meats and 4 different appetizers) for food then...unfortunately, once the food started to arrive, they forgot one of the meat items and one of the appetizers. One waitress is not friendly and the other is clearly forgetful. They were clearly understaffed. The food was ok; however, the Hawaiian chicken was off with a funny texture. Unfortunately, this was not the best experience and the food was only ok to begin with, which has led me to give the rating I did. The staff is mostly Korean (which is a plus when you're going to a KBBQ place. The meat was delicious!! I was actually quite surprised with the fried chicken appetizer. It tasted great and had a lot of meat on it. We ordered brisket, manna steak, pork belly, garlic chicken, tofu bowl, bulgogi, and some more. All of them tasted great with the highlights being the brisket, and manna steak. The brisket cooked fast and tasted great! The manna steak was a big hunk of meat and that was great as well! I'm not a big pork belly person but my brother enjoyed it. The bulgogi was a slight salty but that's because it's marinated in that juice for a while. The lunch price is very decent at $18 per person. The only downside is that they don't have rice paper available. However, the quality of the meat definitely shines. If you're in the area, come here to satisfy your meat cravings. Be warned, you'll probably end up with the meat sweats. But that's part of the fun for these places. read more

This has been our spot for Valentines day/anniversary dinner since my boyfriend and I started dating so it definitely has a spot in my heart. I like to say Manna is a good middle price range for the meats you can get. I dont eat beef but they still have a good selection of grill items that I can eat; the chicken bulgogi is one of my favorites off of Mannas menu. Yes chicken does take longer to cook and it has to be cooked all the way through, but I find it so worth it. Manna also has some of the best banchan (side dishes) is the game I would say, the best in my opinion is the cheese corn! When you hit up this place, order the cheese corn and you wont be disappointed. The prices here vary based on the time you go. If you go during lunch time it can range from $8.99 (if you're a kid) to $17.99 for all you can eat meat! Dinner is $12.99 (kids) to $24.99. Go hungry to eat your money's worth! read more

One time we came on a Saturday evening and the wait was an hour and a half. I believe they start getting busy around 7pm since we came here on a Friday evening at 6pm and didn't wait for a table. I like coming here because their food is good. However, they just need to have a better waiting system and a strong team. Other manna / restaurants have the electronic check in with an iPad. This will have better management on them. Less stress on them instead of using a clip board, losing track on people, and time. I don't know how they treat their employees. i would say my experience here has been a rollercoaster, this is my go to kbq spot but when a few days or so i brought my friends here to eat some kbq and when we had the marinated steak, we were ready to put it on the grill and we found hair on the meat, that's the first that has happened and we let the waiter know we found hair and then they made it seemed like we plant that lol? like i said i've been here couple of times okay so after that i told them if it's possible if we can at least get a refund for that incident and they were like " yeah that's fine" then we had this one waitress, his name is JOSUAH and we really liked this guy because he would play along with our jokes and was a funny guy until we literally said as joke the dna of the hair was him, a white male and he started laughing and messing around with us? then he comes back and gave us our check and was like " i don't appreciate the racist comment " and i was just confused ... cause we weren't even trying to be racist .. and just the way he handled it was not very much ideal, i don't know why he felt that way... but retrain your people (: esp josuah ! i would've went off on him after his lil comment anyways that's my lil rant lol read more

Korean BBQ spots are popping up all over the valley and I'm all about sampling the goods to find which ones work. The location is probably the best thing for me as it's conveniently located for dinner or lunch with my coworkers. If you do have to deal with a wait, you can slide over next door to the market to look around and pick up a few things. The selection of food has some variations towards some of the other spots and the menu is broken down into 2 price categories (A1 Premium which is around $29/person & the A2 @ $21/person). I have to admit that I struggle to pronounce a lot of things so I pointed out which numbers I wanted on the menu to make sure. When the food came out, we all were looking trying to figure out what it was as it didn't match our order. My kiddos were hungry and said whatever... When we were ready to order again, the 1st thing requested was Shrimp and that's when I realized someone "assumed" the wrong thing. That's probably where the low star rating comes... service... Granted their were plenty of people that night, but while I was pointing to the menu, our server just assumed we were ordering from the lower priced menu. She was quick to point it out and I was even quicker to give her "AND YOUR POINT IS WHAT" response and look. We like baby octopus, we like shrimp, we like Goutal... hence why I pointed to that list. When the shrimp and the other items we requested came out, we go a double order for the stuff we initially ordered.. Not sure how we were gonna good it all but we figured it out. After that, everything went pretty smooth for the night and then we wrapped up. The place has another room in the rear with 2 TV's and is excellent for groups and celebrations. Each time I've gone I've been in that back area. If you're big on soft drinks you will only get a can as it's not all you can drink beverages... Yeah, this place pretty much rocks. I hadn't had Korean BBQ in about two decades, but was still extolling it to the wife. When the time came for lunch today, I said to myself, "Hey, howabout Korean?" A bit of a search on Yelp yielded Manna. The cook-it-yourself model looked perfect. It was. You pick from an A or B selection at two slightly different prices per plate, and then it's all-you-can-eat pigout time for two hours. You get a variety of different things to stick on the table grill--beefs, porks, chickens, and seafoods, marinated (or not) in specific sauces. I wasn't too thrilled with the octopus (literally 4-5 inch whole octopi). The texture was not my thing, but that's not Manna's fault. The beef was thin and like paper, but quite tasty. I loved the chicken bulgogi and the pork. I also got glass noodles and some rice. Extra tasty, left with a full stomach. If the pieces are large, you can cut the servings with food scissors. Great, attentive service. If you're looking for Manna from Heaven Korean-style, or maybe even Gangham-style, come here. read more

I am giving 4 stars for the food only! The meats and side dishes are always good. I really like that they have the King Oyster mushrooms with the veggies. Most of the other korean bbq joints in Arizona just serve you regular white mushrooms. I love to get chadol baegi, steamed egg and the soon dobu soup at least. If i had to rate the restaurant on service or comfort, I would give less stars. The staff is not rude, it's just that food items were forgotten every single time that we have gone and we have had to ask for items several times. The booths are really small. Hello fellow Yelpers!!! This was my first time here, but not my first experience with Korean BBQ. I did not take photos as the experience is almost identical to previous related dining experiences of similar concept. On arrival, very disorganized as there is no host or hostess to check you in...you simply write your name down on a list. As tables open up, one of the employees comes out, grabs the list, and starts calling out names. If you fail to answer, you get skipped. So, stay close and listen for your name. We waited about an hour and 15 minutes to be called. Once seated, we were greeted, drinks were quickly brought out, and then we started ordering items off the menu...some cooked, others not. The nice thing is that there is no time limit, so you can order as much as you want, and have awesome conversations with your guest over a joint cooking experience. I scored this a 3 based on a couple of factors: the unorganized check in, the wait, and then the amount of smoke coming from the grills made it a bit hard to breathe...the ventilation was not great. I believe this place has the potential to be awesome, but needs a few tweaks to elevate their customer experience. Once seated, service was good. Kinda rushed, but good. Come ready to eat, don't wear super nice things as the smoke penetrates everything, including you wallet or purse. The food was typical Korean BBQ, nothing really stood out. On the fence about returning here, but might potentially give it another shot in the future...maybe. My overall experience was right in the middle, not fantastic, but also not bad. Score: B- read more
