Man oh man, I've said it once and I'll say it to the end of time, I love a good family owned establishment. WoodBarn is a charming gem here in Gilbert, with the ambiance truly living up to its name. It features a small, but doable outdoor seating area, and as you enter, you're greeted by wooden panels lining the wall, just like...well...a barn. The staff is incredibly friendly, and service was stellar. I mean the time it took from ordering to the food hitting the table clocked ~3 min. Now the food. As always I judge a BBQ joint on its pulled pork and Mac n Cheese! So we started with that as well as a Johnny cake. The pulled pork was tender, seamlessly swooning under the gentle press of your teeth... The bun also stood out. Some places put awesome pulled pork on a mediocre to bad bun, but theirs is really solid! Mac n Cheese was thick, flavorful, and very filling (Glad I went with the smaller size). And for those of you who like a good cornbread, I give you the Johnny Cake! Sweeter than an average cornbread, but moist and delicious! Overall WoodBarn gets the 5 star treatment from me, a testament to the service they provide our local Gilbert community!

I had the brisket sandwich and a loaded potato with brisket our second dish. Run to this place and run fast. The quality and the quantity of the food is more than worth the value. The staff is super nice. We grabbed a to-go menu as I'm old school and like reading off a paper menu. I will be ordering takeout in the future and bringing family and friends for future meals.

OMG, this is the place for great BBQ and smoked meats. This afternoon my husband and I went for a late lunch. He had the Brisket and I had the Stuffed Spud, which had your choice of meat and toppings. I got the Brisket too. Everything was so delicious and the Brisket was fork tender. WoodBarn is family owned and the owner and staff is so friendly and helpful. Dining is casual, family friendly, and really relaxed. The prices are very good and there are daily specials and really good packages. Don't miss this wonderful spot!! AND, they have HOMEMADE Vanilla Bean Ice Cream...again so delicious. Thanks, Penny and John

I saw this on TicTok and had to give it a try. It was about a 45 min drive. They had a couple handicap spots close to the front. I ordered the small family pack. 1lb brisket. 1 lb pork and 2 pints of side which I chose potato salad and beans. Service was wonderful. It was very clean. This was the best pulled pork I have ever eaten. The brisket was moist and tasty. The potato salad was good and so were the beans. The cornbread was so good I had ordered 6 and went and got 4 more togo. I will most definitely come back and tell everyone.

How a two meat plate is served with the size of the serving of a side. .

I wanted a two meat plate. The menu doesn't have a traditional selection for plate combinations. They specialize in sandwiches and family combinations for take home. It looked like they did sell meat by the pound and half pound, however ordering portion sizes for a meat plate, the choices are 1/4 pound increments. I chose the sausage and brisket. There is a single choice of sauce, sweet. The sausage had a consistency of a hotdog, not a typical BBQ joint casing or texture or consistency. The brisket was moist and well cooked, but felt colder to eat quickly while on the plate on a few minutes. They have a way of wanting to direct customers to their way of BBQ and ordering. It works when you are the best. I wish they were but I do not think I will be back. This just isn't what making it easy to order BBQ is all about.

Ribs not so great rib tips never again, brisket was good. Coleslaw too sweet.

The food is always great and the service friendly! My wife and I like to get the lunch special brisket sandwiches, side and a drink.

A Hidden Gem You NEED to Try - Don't Let This Place Stay a Secret!…read moreI've been to Sage & Barrel Craft Eatery a few times now, and every visit leaves me wondering why this place isn't packed every single night. We stopped in on a Monday evening and had the whole vibe almost to ourselves--such a shame because this spot is seriously awesome and deserves a full house! The atmosphere is so vibey--warm, inviting, perfectly lit with that perfect mix of casual and upscale that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It feels special without being stuffy, great for date nights, family dinners, or just unwinding with friends over craft beers (their selection is impressive--40+ local options with plenty on tap). But the real star? The food. Everything is scratch-made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care in every bite. Deeply flavorful, innovative twists on classics, generous portions, and consistently excellent. Whether you go for the Nashville hot chicken and waffles, fish & chips, burgers, or whatever catches your eye, it's all done right. No frozen junk here--just real, delicious food that keeps you coming back. Queen Creek (and the East Valley) needs more places like this. Support local, support quality, and help keep this gem thriving so it doesn't disappear. We'll definitely be back--next time on a busier night so more people can discover it! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go. Tell your friends. Mondays (and every night) deserve Sage & Barrel. You won't regret it.

We were able to replace the sides with more rice at no extra charge for the plate which was really nice. Honestly, it was way too much rice, so next time I'd just omit the sides altogether if I was to reorder this. The mini katsu was more than enough as well. Each piece was perfectly crispy. I loved the steamed veggies. They were unseasoned and balanced out the katsu very well. Worth the price (which was very accurate to the meal and the quality).

The chicken was really good and cooked pretty much perfectly. It doesn't have that "char" to it that Hawaiian's cook it like (if you know, you know), but it was cooked almost perfectly imo. The rice wasn't a true Hawaiian sticky rice, but close enough. It almost had more of an Asian texture to it. But it was still good. There was a lot of food, of which I'd expect from a Hawaiian spot. The teriyaki sauce was pretty tasty. It wasn't the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had, but it's a lot better than Ono's Hawaiian BBQ (their chicken teriyaki is trash!). The service was good and fast! The inside was clean and tidy. Was it the best I've ever had? No. But it's good enough to share it with my friends, invite them to go, and go back myself. I'll need to try the chicken katsu and bbq short ribs next time.

The woman who gave me my food talked up the jam but it was really tart & we didn't like it. In addition, I paid $6 for coffee. I went up for a refill & there was only decaf. The bartenders said they were brewing more but kinda blew me off. They were way more concerned with the alcohol buying/tipping customers. After 10+ mins I went back up to just wait. After all the bar customers left, a bartender finally acknowledged me & she took my cup & filled it up behind the bar. Supposedly, they'll have a dedicated coffee area ready at the end of August. But, at this point I feel that you shouldn't go to the Olive Mill for hot food, especially at breakfast. They're soo popular that they've stopped caring about flavor. Sad really. Olives & salads your best bet. Nice live music was outside but it was so hot our group decided to go inside.
