I'd definitely recommend taking a stroll around before or after your meal because there's a lot to check out. I've been to Manna BBQ several times before, usually at their Convoy location since it's closer to me. However, I was further north this time and decided to visit this location instead. Honestly, Manna BBQ is still one of the best Korean BBQ spots I've had in San Diego. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is the value. The regular menu is only $30.99, which is a steal considering many Korean BBQ places charge $45+ for dinner nowadays. The quality of the meat is consistently good, especially for the price. My favorite item is definitely the beef belly, I could easily eat six rounds of it. I also love their corn cheese and usually go through two or three servings every visit. They have a great selection of meats overall, and everything tastes fresh and flavorful. Another bonus is the unlimited ice cream. The food is very consistent across all the different mannas I've been to. All delicious and I love eating here for AYCE; never disappoints. I recommend the beef belly! It is basically like the bacon of beef! Fatty but has enough meat where it also may have a slight chew but can melt in your mouth. The best balance ever! The restaurant has some updates so it is unclear if we are to ring the bell or order through the iPad. Regardless, the servers are attentive and it is nice that people walk around and offer the grill change without needing to ask for one. We came by Manna in need of some Korean BBQ to start our weekend in San Diego. We had 4 people in our party and waited about 25-30 minutes before we were seated. You have to place your name and your phone # on the tablet at the front of the restaurant. You cannot reserve in advance. After being seated, we placed our orders right away. Our waters were prepped for our party, and the server was very attentive to our needs. We had the beef belly, brisket, pork belly, galbi, manna steak, and intestines. We also asked for kimchi, rice paper, ssam, jalapeno, garlic, gochujang, corn cheese, and fried rice. The meat came in very quickly after placing it on the tablet. The servers are also attentive to our grill, changing it when it's time, and refilling our waters whenever we're running low. There is even complimentary ice cream after our meals! First of all, the food here is DELICIOUS! Great selection of different meats. Personal favorites were pork belly and beef belly, but the sides were also great! We got steamed egg, tofu stew, and corn cheese. They also have self serve ice cream that comes with the standard dinner menu! For some reason they don't tell you it comes with, but it does! That leads me into the service - they are definitely not the most attentive here. Not the worst but not the best. Maybe it's because we sat in a private room and had a big group but it felt like they were pretty slow to bring the food or do grill changes near the beginning of our meal, even when it didn't seem too busy outside the room. Just in comparison with other KBBQ places I've been to. They also forgot one or two dishes from our orders and we had to remind them. Also the ventilation in here is pretty bad so be ready to smell like KBBQ for the rest of the day. Didn't help that in the middle of our meal, around 8:30 or 9pm, they started cleaning up outside and spraying harsh chemicals, so that was flooding my nose so much I pretty much couldn't taste my food anymore. Everything that could've gone wrong went wrong during our visit here... We came in before 5pm on a Saturday expecting it to be semi-busy but not packed to the point where the service was terrible and boy were we wrong... at 4:30 I checked into the waitlist, and got a text at 4:46 saying our table was ready so we made our way to the host stand and waited an additional 15 minutes for someone to come and seat us. After being seated, we waited a FULL 30 MINUTES before someone came by to get our beverage order and start the grill. As we waited, I noticed the actual grill had a lot of pieces of food from previous customers' meals lodged in between the grill & the actual heating element. Eventually we get our food, I figured I was just hangry and tried to enjoy my experience at Manna with my grandma. As we're enjoying our meal, a staff member passed by our table while delivering what I assumed was a marinated meat to the table behind us AND HE SPILLED RAW MEAT JUICE ALL OVER OUR TABLE AND SIDE DISHES. I tried my best to politely bring it to his attention, he replaced our side dishes and handed us a stack of napkins to deal with the mess... it would've been much better if he could've grabbed a rag with sanitizer and wiped the table down. We wanted to order more meat and tried utilizing the ordering device attached to the table and found it does not work and you have to order directly from the staff (why even have the device there if this is the case?) Whatever, we finished our meal and enjoyed some of the complimentary ice cream and asked for the check. The check came and they tried to charge us for 3 guests when it was literally just me and my grandmother dining the entire time... We didn't even have any leftovers to be charged for, so I spoke with the staff and thankfully got them to charge us for the correct amount. It's been YEARS since my last review of Manna and this specific location has def gone downhill, especially when other locations have actually (surprisingly) gotten better. We came on a weekend which is understandably busy. We put our name down for the waitlist and it seems like they did away with the Yelp system in favor of a janky one of their own. It was annoying to use on the tablet but worse in terms of notifications as it didn't tell you you were signed up or give you a time estimate of when your table was ready. You just got a text whenever it was finally ready which could be any time. People also started complaining anout the wait and somehow skipping others in the queue which was extremely annoying. The front of house was incredibly disorganized when we went. When we were finally seated after we got our text and complained of others after us being seated prior, our table wasnt even fully ready. It still had a used grill with leftover food from a previous party. The test of the table was cleaned, but I found this to be incredibly disgusting. Literally still a front of house problem tho from what I saw. During our meal, it surprisingly didn't take long for a server to approach us, but it did for other tables around us. We had an older woman as our server and she was incredibly on top of it. When she was helped by other servers, most of our stuff kept getting missed. She was the only highlight of the service here. She was friendly and efficient, and everyone else was disorganized. I understand being short staffed but it was honestly just such a bad experience. Lastly the food. Manna is generally consistent food wise and we like the beef belly, nuk gan sal and pork jowl. Things still come out fairly fresh and decently sized for the party IMO. We had an alright experience. We came here for a birthday and they were able to seat a party for 10. The food was subpar at most, I'd definitely pay more money for higher quality meat. However, I do like the fact that they offer small intestines (곱창), on both their menus so it's not such a bad thing after all. I frankly could eat them all day. I also wish they served thinly sliced pork belly, it's way faster to cook than their pork belly slabs. It's more of a preference for me but that would've been game changer for me. For noobs (who have never grilled before), the beef belly is the easiest to slap on the grill because it cooks the fastest plus everyone gets to grab and eat it fast. Their banchan (side dishes) was poor. Usually Korean restaurants give lots of banchan and Manna was severely lacking in that department. If they withheld banchan because of lack of space on tables, perhaps they should reconsider because I love a good banchan. I'd highly recommend ordering through the tablet rather than the waiter taking our orders, because 50% of the order came out wrong lol. Like we ordered soondobu, but instead we got ramen. My work hosted a team meal here, so I was able to order things which I usually normally wouldn't. We go to this Mira Mesa Manna regularly since it is more convenient and the other closer ayce kbbq place is Gen (which is just too dark and loud for us). Once you arrive, you sign into the waitlist. Then they will text you a link to check your place in line and text you again when your table is ready. Service is decent, not amazing but also not horrible. We have our specific items we always get so I have it saved in my phones notes and show it to the waiters when they ask what we'd like to order. I like how they have steamed egg here while some other kbbq's don't, and you can choose to have it with green onion or cheese. As for all the other sides, it's the basic typical common kbbq options. We are always satisfied with the cheaper A2 menu. Favorite go to meats are: Galbi, Beef Belly, Jumoolak, Pork belly. If you've never eaten ayce kbbq, it's an experience. An okay KBBQ spot if I'm being honest, there's nothing special about manna that compares to other places. Basic appetizers like corn cheese, gyoza and japchae which is pretty decent. The meats they offer for whatever side of the menu you choose from are good for what youre able to get. I haven't been here for 10 years. I was at the kearny location and I remember giving them a scathing review. This one isn't much better. Lol. Today I decided to go to the mira mesa location. In this location the inside is sort of narrow and small. Its loud in here as it seems a lot of people come here. My gripes about this place and decade ago was the limited items, quality of meat, and high prices. That seemed to have changed. After a decade, their menu changed quite a bit. They added so much more! Options are good! Its affordable at 31$ for their A2 package.and 38$ for their A1 package. The basic A2 is all you need. It has everything that most people eat anyways. I enjoyed the flat iron steak most bc it was tender and the hint of rosemary and butter was nice. The beef belly was cut a bit thick for me. Those were the only memorable meats. The galbi lacked a lot of flavor. Disappointing. The meat still lacked quality. Some of it smelled funky. The sides, especially the corn cheese needs MORE cheese and mayo. Very disappointing and just yuck! The steamed egg was delicious though. The soondobu had a nice touch with the bits of beef in it. The jap chae was really good also. The spinach and bean sprouts was very bland and the kimchi tasted spoiled. The eggrolls and pork dumpling is a NO NO. I couldn't even bite into it bc it had a rubbery texture. Very odd and turned me off. A lot of disappointments and little to make up for it. I gave this place a 2 star bc the service absolutely sucked. I am not sure if it is bc they have an electronic menu pad on the table is why service is lackluster, but it seems this is the case as the same service was produced at Q-Pot in San Jose. At first the waitress takes your order, then you can order whatever, whenever as much as you please on the mini pad. There is also a call server button on the pad and on the wall. My water needed to be refilled. I needed napkins and our grill needed a change. We pressed the server button and we waited about 7 mins. We actually timed it. Lol! Later I needed some more water and another grill change. That took about 5 mins. The servers do not check on you at all. Perhaps thats how it's supposed to be bc if you needed your server, you can just tap the server button. The food came out slow and when you got the attention of your server, you'd tell them you needed more salt, but before you can add to that request like "i also need more sesame oil", they already walked away and turned around. Not bad, but there are so many KBBQ options around I'd revisit first. Selection is Regular or Premium, and the Premium was worth it for the beef finger flavors and rib eye. The rib eye needs some trimming, but hey, you have scissors, get to work. Side dishes were good, with excellent traditional kimchi on request. Smoke management is ok with the side-vacuum gas grill, but the airflow made the sides of the grill pretty cool and the center hot. Not uncommon, but just know there's not as much cooking area as warming area around the edge. I don't understand the need for every KBBQ to be at night-club volume, but it's a thing, and this place fits. We were right under the loudspeaker, so it was impossible to shout to anyone not sitting right next to you. That got tiring; pretty much shut up and eat your KBBQ in loud silence, since repeating yourself gets old. Should have noticed this before sitting down. So the selections and meats were maybe 4-stars, but then we got clamped after two orders. I don't know if that's just their strategy or they were understaffed, but we couldn't flag anyone down for a good long while while the grill just sat there empty and charred. We gave up and called it done. No dirty grill changes either, so it got pretty carbonized. The service people were certainly hustling to reset tables and shuttle things around, but there was only one person to put in orders and she just vanished for a good bit while we cooled our jets under the blasting rave music. Another review said you order from screens, which would have been GREAT, but we didn't have that. So that takes half the value away from KBBQ if you're just sitting there poking your chopsticks at empty kimchi plates with everyone desperately trying to make eye contact with someone. This place has been on my list for a looong time and I was finally able to come with friends. Parking was easy but there was still a wait on a Tuesday evening which was unfortunate. Thankfully we took a walk around the plaza to kill time. We did the cheaper tier (A2) since nothing was standing out to us in the premium menu. Food was very average. The beef belly was probably the best protein there. I liked how there were so many different sides you could order like cheese corn and dumplings. Lots of banchan too. Service was ok; waiter took a long time to arrive at the beginning but you can order from an iPad after the first round. His attitude was great but there were times we were waiting a long time for food to come. I think the iPad wasn't working properly or they were short staffed. Either way, the service (mainly length of time to speak with someone and get our food) could be better. I never leave reviews at restaurants but due to how horrible my experience was I had to. The service was HORRIBLE. It took about 15 minutes to just get the sauce and waters and then the server doing that was super rude practically throwing the plates on the table. I guess the iPad where we sat wasn't working and the lady who helped us can't remember her name kept trying to fix it but to no avail. I was super uncomfortable she was there at the table trying to fix it for like 10 minutes but it wasn't working at all. Then we were waiting at the table for another 30 minutes for someone to take our order but no one came . I saw multiple workers walking around and no one helped us. The quality of the food was amazing people there were quick and fast they for some reason lost us in the waitlist are named disappeared, and no one knew what happened. However, they accommodated that by quickly seating us immediately afterwards the environment was pleasant and it was calm and a lot of people seem to enjoy the food. I took my older brother here for his 30th birthday and it did not disappoint at all. All of the food was incredible and by the end of the evening, we had finished a total of 21 plates of meat not including sides. It was kind of hard to stop eating because the food was so good and there was so many different options to choose from. Carne asada, marinated pork loin, I recommend the manna steak, bolgogi beef, short rib, and Hawaiian pork loin. Everything tasted amazing!! The service was pretty decent given we went on a pretty busy night. We did have to wait a few times in between ordering plates but I understand it was busy. They could have had maybe a couple more people working the front and changing out the grills but I just saw a few people and they looked very busy.The taste of the food however totally obliterated any impatience I had and was completely worth it. (*pro tip) If you get a smaller booth, there is a little tablet at your table you can order more plates and don't have to wait as long for someone to take your order. As soon as we walked in the restaurant, the smell was so good it only made me more hungry and excited to eat. They also gave us a free little dessert for my brother! I would definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't already, I am 100% coming back!! read more

I came here for lunch because the Kearny Mesa (KM) location has been temporarily closed. The service was prompt and friendly. Ordering more food was easy and it came relatively quickly. This is my children's favorite KBBQ restaurant. They love the meat cuts and all the extra side dishes that this restaurant carries. Fav meats: LA galbi (bone in), and jumooluk boneless short rib. Specifically this visit, the rice paper was so moist and soft. Fried rice was not the sticky rice we're used to at KM location. Corn cheese was excellent. Kimchi, beansprouts were perfect. It is well lit inside and they play k-pop. There are several large TV screens with TV programs playing also. read more
