Sue's Korean Kichen is located in the Food Court at Plaza Sorrento. It has a nice selection of Korean dishes for take-out. The shop itself is small with ordering at a counter and Korean specialty items in self-service cold cases. There's no indoor seating, but there is a good amount of shared oudoor seating in the Food Court. We found a nice table for three with umbrella. We ordered (and enjoyed) three dishes: #1 Bulgogi Sliced Beef (5/5 $18); #2 Bulgogi Sliced Pork (5/5 $17); #19 Japchae (5/5 $14). Bulgogi is a popular Korean BBQ dish featuring thinly sliced (or chopped) meat marinated in a sweet, savory, and often spicy, gochujang-based sauce, then stir-fried or grilled with vegetables. Japchae is another popular Korean dish, made from sweet potato glass noodles, stir-fried with beef and vegetables. Service at the counter was excellent ... and patient with our questions. This food was fantastic! Susie's is really a small space with a counter for ordering/picking up oness food and a cold case stocked with various Korean pickles, sides, etc. to take home. Seating is outdoors in a common dining area in the midst of the international food court. Our group enjoyed an order of bulgogi beef, one of bulgogi pork, and one of japchae. All deeply and skillfully flavored and delicious. It's a counter service only place, as are most of the restos in this part of the shopping center, so can't give them the 5th star, but this is a stellar example of what a counter service only resto can be. Sue's Korean Kitchen is a hidden gem! The bulgogi kimbap was one of my favorites, and I couldn't stop eating it. Sue's gimbap (fish cake, crab meat, and ham) was good too, but the bulgogi one was even better. The japchae and tofu soup with beef were both tasty classics. A unique dish that they have is samgyetang (Korean ginseng soup) which has an entire chicken in the soup. There is also rice inside of the chicken. It reminded me of the samgyetang that I had when I visited Korea. They give you salt on the side so that you can add it according to your preference. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu, and Sue's Korean Kitchen has definitely earned a spot on my list of go-to Korean restaurants. read more

This mom and pop shop serves some delicious homestyle Korean food. The value and quality are quite impressive. My favorite dishes are the tofu soup and the chicken soup. The chicken soup literally has a whole small chicken in it. Both soups are so nourishing, warm, and fresh. I also really enjoyed the beef bibimbap and the beef japchae as these dishes were very well made and provided excellent compliments to the two soups. This place is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. The store itself is quaint, mom and pop shop vibe with no inside seating. However, there are many tables out front shared amongst all the food stores here so "dine-in" is not a problem. The staff was nice, I called in an order ahead of time so I got my food promptly when I arrived about 15 minutes later. I definitely recommend placing an order either online or by phone before you get there because they do take a while to make your food (seems like only one person works the kitchen). I got the Beef Tofu Soup lunch special, it came with white rice and a cute little box of 4 Korean side dishes (banchan). The food tastes good. However, the 3 star rating comes from the severe lack of beef in my soup. It was $14 before tax and tips so I was expecting more meat. If they can fix that problem, there would be a higher rating from me. read more

A good spot if you're looking for a korean takeout spot! I tried the jajang tteokbokki because it was the first time I've seen that combo, and while it was pretty flavorful and yummy, I would prefer tteokbokki with the spicy sauce and jajangmyeon on its own. Fast and fresh and homestyle is how I would describe Sue's Korean kitchen. What I appreciate the variety of menu options and even side dishes that you can order. I am usually not in this area, but this place has been on my list for some time because yelpers have talked it up. This does not disappoint because you can see from the pictures there are fresh ingredients used and I came right at opening and I'll tell you that it took seven minutes from start to finish and when I held the GIMBAP you could feel the freshness and warmth that they just made it. I'm sure this is a popular spot, especially in this food plaza during work hours of lunch but if you get there right when they open there is nobody waiting in line. Can't believe it took me this long to finally make my way to this place! Small place within the food court mall in sorrento valley/mira mesa. They serve authentic dishes here! For my first visit I opted for the pork cutlet which comes with rice and side salad. And a side of spicy cucumber and radish. The salad dressing was so good! The salad itself was simple but fresh and tasty. Pretty good portion for the pork cutlet, and the banchan was 10/10. Food came out fast and they are also very friendly! Omg this place is LEGIT. I was working nearby and stopped by for a quick lunch. I ordered the lunch special Bimbimbap. It was delicious and just the right amount of food for lunch. I was in the area for work around Sorrento Valley, right on the border of Mira Mesa, and decided to grab some food to go. Ordered a bibimbap and tteokbokki...prices were great and service was super fast! The bibimbap portion was smaller than some other places, but tasted great. It's a tiny little hole-in-the-wall spot with no indoor seating, but there's shared outdoor seating with a few other small restaurants. Definitely more of a grab-and-go kind of place. Plenty of parking too, which is always a win. I'm a satisfied customer and I'll definitely be back! Oh, and just a heads up... they've got a fridge full of Korean pickled veggies, beans, kimchi, etc., if you want to stock up. This place has been on my radar for a while & I was finally in the area and decided to try it out. Here they serve home made , authentic grab and go Korean food that is absolutely deliciihs. First, I tried the kimchi pancakes , which were thoughtfully packaged in a container that had a sizable air vent so as to prevent steaming and softening the texture during transport. Next I tried the vegetable bibimbap which was filled with fresh mounds of veggies , tofu, egg strips ans and a delicious sauce all over a mound of sticky rice. While waiting, the case of refrigerated side dishes caught my eye and I decided to pick up a container of regular kimchi along with radish kimchi. Both were excellent. Cute little mom and pop shop. There isn't seating inside but there are some tables outside. Plenty of parking since it's in a large plaza. It's a no-frills korean place where the lobby/ordering area is probably no bigger than a cubical, but don't let that deceive you! This place used to be ran by Sue herself, where she and maybe 1-2 other people made everything from scratch, everyday (and it shows in the food!). She has since gotten more staff but the quality of food has never changed... (I've been coming here for a while now LOL) The staff themselves are really friendly and are always making sure that you are leaving satisfied. Service can't get any better! I have been constantly craving Korean Kimbap this entire trip. I can't get enough of the stuff. I just find myself searching for Kimbap pretty much every day. This place was hard to locate, look for the food court sign, it's hidden in the back corner of this plaza. It's along the way from the dosa place. Two packets of already made Kimbap, not freshly made for $13 a pack, Perrier eater and radish kimchi and kimchi for $52.24. Service is quick, easy in and out. The cubed radish kimchi is so-so, doesn't taste as bad as the kimchi sauce. Kimchi is rather off for kimchi, comes with pieces of radishes too, if I had known that I wouldn't have bought the separate radish kimchi. The kimchi tastes quite off, can't put my finger on it, but it's not good. The Kimbap was just okay, not as fresh as I would have liked. I would have also preferred fresh rolls less the ham, but at least they were easy to pop out of the piece. Not sure it was worth $52+ for the food I bought today to me. read more

In the fridge to the left, there were many different types of banchan that I will definitely be back to try. The menu is small but has many safe and delicious options. 1) Bibimbap (Cup Bop): 9.5/10. A huge portion filled with various crunchy and soft textures. Rice was well cooked and sauce perfectly tied together all the different components of the bibimbap. A safe option for all to enjoy. 2) Kimchi Pancake: 9.5/10. Made fresh by Miss Sue in the back. Was very delicious and perfectly seasoned. We ate it 20 minutes after getting the order, so the pancakes were a little bit soggy but the edges were still very crispy. Not spicy, and we dipped it in the bibimbap sauce, which made it even more yummy. 3) Kimbap: 9.5/10. Very big pieces (which I love) with lots of filling inside. There is a crunchy texture inside that makes this so addicting. We dipped this in the bibimbap sauce that came with the bibimbap, but I wish that there was a sauce included with just the kimbap. The service is quick. I liked that you can get authentic kimchi to-go. The kimchi spicy and delicious. We ordered the kimchi pancake, Gimbap, and silken, tofu soup. I don't eat meat, and I ordered the vegetable Gimbap and it had a little piece of ham in it. It wasn't a big deal because I poked out the ham, but if you're vegetarian, definitely double check. I grew up in LA/OC so I have high expectations, and the prices and homemade taste of the food at Sue's Kitchen doesn't disappoint. Lunch special prices Monday to Friday until 2:30 - huge portions for an amazing price. Tofu soup (lunch special), seafood: pretty spicy. Interestingly contains carrots and zucchini which I haven't encountered before but not complaining. Amazingly soft and flavorful tofu, wouldn't be surprised if it was made in house. Broth is not very salty surprisingly. Only wish it had more seafood: had 1 mussel and 1 small shrimp. Cut bap (lunch special): HUGE portion, so big that it takes up two containers! I loved the potato and mushroom side dishes. Beef is a tad bit sweet for my taste but not bad. Gimbap (regular menu): comparatively a bit pricier at $13 but the best thing on the menu. Huge pieces, delicious. I think there's imitation crab, spam, fish cake as meat. To-go orders only but there is outdoor seating in the plaza. Came on Thursday and waited maybe 15 min for our food.
