This review is only based on the pizza, I have not yet had any restaurant service. I usually stop here once a week with my son. We will normally get a grandma, Sicilian white or salad slice. Pizza is fresh and above average. I also usually take a slice of pepperoni to my daughter before she has dance and she enjoys as well. Would like to try sit down service one day. I want here for a quick lunch. It was pretty crowded but the line was moving pretty fast. The prices were reasonable. The pizza was pretty good. I would like to go back a second time to have more time to actually enjoy my slices. I got the salad slice and a fresh mozzarella tomato basil slice. My friend got a chicken Parm slice. He stated that the chicken Parm slice was very heavy and only needed one because he ordered two and it was super filling. My salad slice wasn't the best. A lovely little spot in Smithtown centrally located to Northern State pky and LIE. They may have excellent food but they have terrible customer service. I contacted them to order food for my mom and sister's family to have as a holiday gift. I was informed to call back and place the order on the day of the pickup. I called a 2nd time on the pickup day and was told to call only 45 minutes before pickup to put in the order. I called the 3rd time and was now told they are not taking orders. Basically leaving me stuck at the last moment when they could have told me in advance with people waiting for dinner. In my opinion service is as important or more than the food. This is the 2nd time I've had poor service from this establishment. They charge $1.00 for a side of marinara sauce, even if you've bought numerous items. That's the best way I can describe how they treat their customers. There are many choices in the Smithtown area for pizza. Mannino's shouldn't be one for PIZZA. In my opinion a good regular pizza should have thin crisp crust that won't wilt when you fold it. Their pie has way too much cheese, would slide off the dough and the 1/2 sausage pie we had had all the meat in one area not even spread out. Had dinner at Mannino's a few weeks ago, first time there. My sister and I shared an arugula salad. My entree was a special of filet of sole and my sister had a salmon special. Excellent service for a midday lunch with 6 young at heart seniors. From drinks to dessert, everything was a little different than the same Italian dishes I've eaten elsewhere, and quite delicious! I went into Manninos of Smithtown to grab a quick lunch. The first time I was in this place was about a year ago. At that time I got a slice of marinara pizza that was awful. It wasn't marinara sauce at all, it was chunks of barely cooked tomatoes, with no garlic, on an overcooked wad of bread. The second time was a couple of months ago. I thought I would try their regular slice of pizza. That was tasteless, and soggy. Today I figured let me give them one more chance and let's try a salad. What could go wrong? Well......I was stunned when they brought me a grilled chicken Caesar salad that was the same size of the one in their side salad to go container and charged me $13.75! (with a small soda) In their defense I did ask for a small salad, but I didn't think the guy behind the counter (Mr. No personality) was going to charge me almost $14. I wouldn't even call that a small salad, It was definitely the size of a "side salad" with a tiny cut up filet of chicken and huge pieces of toasted bread, that I guess they consider croutons. Three stars because I'm usually OBSESSED with this place, my husband and I have been in town for a month and stop in at minimum twice a week for slices the owner has gone out of his way to make us feel welcomed. But this time I was very disappointed. Our friends wanted to grab dinner here so we decided to dine in which we never do, the server was horrible. Not very friendly or helpful. We bought a bottle of wine, a couple appetizers and some entrees. The people we were with tried to get the servers attention numerous time and I'm not sure if he could hear us or if he was just ignoring us. What really got me was at the end when we asked the server to split the bill he told us to tally up each of our meals ourselves and tell him what we wanted on our cards... last time I checked it takes two seconds to split a bill. Pizza is good, but the man behind the counter needs to grow a personality. Every time we walk in there I feel like I'm inconveniencing them for grabbing a quick slice of pizza. The food is average at best here. It's really difficult to mess up basic Italian dishes. The reason this restaurant earned one star is because of the incredibly rude owner. He really ruins the ambiance and makes the patrons feel uncomfortable. One of our dishes came out completely wrong and almost inedible. After we told the waiter, the owner came over and started to argue with us about it, telling us we were wrong and he analyzed the dish we sent back personally. If only he put the time into the food that he puts into defending it, the food may have been better! I have never been spoken to like that at a restaurant before. Rude mustached creep behind pizza counter was rude to three families trying to eat there. Completely unaccomodating. After bill, told us that they don't accept coupons for eat-in despite fact we have used it to Eat in before. Then moron behind counter gave us trouble for bringing up bill to cash register instead of a waiter (who was busy and we had to go. A reasonable and typical situation). Yet... Rude again. Then gave us trouble over the bill/cash. Then didn't bother to give us our leftover pizza which was to be wrapped up to go. This was deliberate and beyond the pale for a professional establishment. We believe guy behind the counter deliberately tried to make us overpay, as well. We were told after the fact that others have had trouble with a counter person when they came with kids, also. Not only never again, but I suggest anyone who takes their kids to Smithtown Performaing Arts for shows to never go here. The sweaty angry grease-riddled creep behind the counter deliberately attempted to rip us off. Beware. Go to Buena Sera instead. We eat out quite a bit and situations occur from all parties... Customers or place. Usually we let that slide. Human error is human error. But this is/was simply unacceptable by someone being unprofessional. I come here only when I am in the parking lot already and don't feel like driving to buona sera. The staff are not the most friendly people. The pizza slices are small and taste is not the greatest. My review encompasses four different visits to this restaurant. Once to sit down for dinner, once to sit on the pizzeria side, and twice for pizza take out. So, as I alluded to above, Mannino's is actually two restaurants in one. When you walk in, if you go to the right, it's the Pizzeria, if you walk to the left, there's a considerably more formal italian restaurant with a full bar area and table, etc. Let's talk about the restaurants side of things first, the staff, the food, and yes, the owner. My wife and I came here for dinner and we were seated promptly. Our waiter was very attentive at first, he read off all the specials, and took our drink orders. My wife ordered a chicken dish and I ordered a special which was a steak dish. ...so on a side note, generally, the music in the dining room is the Frank Sinatra channel from Sirius, but for some reason, it was on really, really loud, and it was playing back some 1950's game show. We complained a bit asking if it could be turned down, as it was obnoxious. The owner came over, explained that it was on the Sinatra channel, and that music should resume shortly. Well, "shortly" was another 10-15 minutes of this crap, and it was LOUD.....it sort of put me off big time that it couldn't at least be turned down for the time that the music wasn't on..... So back to the food....our food comes out and I will say that it was quite a bit of food and it was delicious. Our waiter came over once to check on us, which I like. We had ordered a bottle of wine, so there was no reason to come bother us anymore, which I also like. Aside from the loudness of the speakers playing back the old game show nonsense, it was a decent experience, but I will agree that it seems that while the owner means well and is interested in his patrons, that he has a flippant attitude. Now, in terms of the pizzeria side, I came here with my 5 year old son to have pizza. He loves the pizza for some reason. It's a simple enough set up....you walk up to the counter, order, pay, and the guy's or girls behind the counter get your food and you walk to one of the booths and sit down and eat. I would grade the pizza as a 6 on a 10 scale for traditional pizza, and and 8 out of 10 for the buffalo style chicken pizza. Both times we called for takeout, I either got italian food or pizza, and it was just as good as I expected. I give this place three stars because I think there's definitely room for improvement. Oh and I almost forgot....I did bang on their door one night after closing begging them to sell me some leftover food after I had a late night at work. They let me in, put some food in a box for me, charged me $5 and sent me on my way. They certainly didn't have to do that. read more

What was once a neighborhood spot to grab a slice when you were in a drunken state has now turned into a full on Italian restaurant. Although my nostalgic taste buds were pleased to see the pizzeria aspect is still in tact. I love that Manninos offers both sides and they pull it off pretty effortlessly. Living in Brooklyn, it's hard to find a place with an extensive menu. Things are very seasonal or very limited so when I was handed a menu with dozens and dozens of options, I was ecstatic. Went with a large group. Service (waiter named Freddy) was spot on. He pulled off the professional aspect and friendly jokes pretty nicely. Food was excellent. If you go I BEG YOU TO TRY THE MUSSELS IN GORGONZOLA SAUCE. It will give your mouth an orgasm, straight up. I would say from start to finish we were very pleased. Noticing a few reviews about the owner being a snob, but at the end of our meal he greeted us, thanked us, and was very gracious for our business. Maybe he listened up to what people had to say. This is not only a pizza place but a decent Italian restaurant. On one side you have a typical NY pizzeria where you can get pizza, heroes, sausage rolls, even dinners. On the other side, it is a more formal, restaurant setting. I've eaten here twice in the past 2 months to have very good food, not pizza. Although the pizza did look good. Each time I ate here I had the pork chops with cherry peppers and roasted potatoes over broccoli rabe. it is really a great dish and comes with 2 full pork chops - I always wind up bringing one home. My hubby has had pasta there as well as a chicken parm hero and a soup. The lentil soup was good but extremely hot as if it were microwaved which turned him off a bit. I was a bit annoyed that when we ate on the restaurant side on a quiet Wednesday evening my hubby requested to order a hero and they told him they couldn't do that. (the same kitchen prepares all meals). That really annoys me - we're talking a restaurant in a pizza place.When the table across from us got a hero when their dinners were served I of course,called our waiter over at my husband's embarrassment and they gladly made him a chicken parm hero (after the waiter checked with the manager of course) sheesh! Also, the tables are a bit on top of each other. So if you are going and wanting to be able to speak without others hearing your conversation, don't go here. Upon dining at this establishment before I took a date here, and it certainly did not disappoint. I'd admit the space is cramped, and it gets awfully loud. Perhaps too loud for a restaurant, but the food was on par if not over. Her shrimp dish was delicious, as my bolognese was as well. The date went well, and the price was nothing of what I expected. When you're treated like family. I came to celebrate a birthday but had lost my voice. Karen heard me and immediately asked if she could fix me a hot toddy. I graciously accepted the offer. All I could say is wow! It really did the trick. My mom even asked her to make me another one. LOL My voice started coming back the next day! It usually takes me 3 days. My voice is one my most valuable toolsas I am a teacher, health coach, motivational speaker and performance poet. So as you can imagine I was very happy to be on mend so quickly! Lived in Smithtown for 25 yrs. Have seen this little pizzeria evolve through those years to the place we love to frequent on Friday "date night" with hubby. Always greeted with my favorite cocktail, the Coconut Martini. Perfected by our lovely mixologist Paige! I usually like the food here. I take out from here 3-4 times a month. Last two times food order was incorrect. I called and explained what was wrong. I've come here for years as they are a bit closer than Emilio's, but lately been going to Buona Sera down the road when I'm lazy. The pizza here has been shrinking in size, toppings and flavor, yet the price keeps climbing every month. Always check the price before you order, as the cashier/manager randomly and frequently over charges. The Sicilian pie has shrunk smaller than the Neapolitan, yet costs several dollars more and is basically a square pizza like any other. I love maninos pizza, I've been here a few times but never got to review! Maninos has a very cozy atmosphere, and their food variety is great!!! Stopped by for walk in pizza today unlike other times I have dined in, and they still had great service as well as options!! I love the eggplant slice, that's what I had today, as well as the cheesecake! Nom nom nom! My sis tried their broccoli penguin , lol, I think that's what they called it, a little round Bowl shaped thing stuffed with brócoli and mozzarella cheese. She also had their spinach tomato slice. I only have amazing things to say about the food here.. sooo delish. Our waitress was wonderful. However we arrived at 630pm on a saturday. We were not suprised to see a small wait which is fine. We went to make our way to the bar and there would have been room for us. They may have 7-8 seats at the bar 4 were being used by children waiting with their parents. I was with my parents who would have love to sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited the 30 minutes. This was a bit disappointing. Children should not be sitting at a bar drinking water or soda. We would have prob had a few drinks but werent able to. I worked in this business for a long time and never did we allow children to sit at a bar. We mentioned it to the lovely girl that took our name she agree but I dont think she wanted to say something to anyone.
