As I lost the heat in the house sometimes in the middle of the night and woke up to 55 temp in cold morning, my NEST thermostat showed no power. I called Mannix, my trusty regular HVAC company for everything from maintenance to any AC/HEAT issues for the past decade. Without any delay, the phone rep scheduled me right away to send a tech. Within 3 hours, I had a technician, Silvio at my door! He was knowledgeable and immediately found the problem, condensation pump not pumping and replaced it. Oh boy, where to begin. Let me first say Mannix has always been great...until they weren't. They installed our new system in 2020 and have been our go to option since then. Our hvac froze over the first week in July and we called them. They sent someone out, gave our system a clean bill of health after we did a servicing and signed up for a contract for them to come in the fall as well. 36 hours later, our system frozen over again. They sent a different tech out and he said the fan was bad and the capacitor needed to be replaced. Okay...waited a week. They replaced both but the tech said he wasn't confident that fixed it...I don't think he was out of the driveway before it shut off again. That's when things went dark. They have yet to call us back. We resorted to diagnosing and fixing the problem ourselves...a dead condensate pump. Not sure why TWO techs missed that? We understand techs mess up, trust me, we get it and we have always been very reasonable with them and scheduling. But enough is enough. Needless to say, we will be finding another company to work with. If you chose Mannix, I hope they treat you better than they treated us. read more

Very disturbing as bought AC from them and then try to take advantage with ripoff prices when needing a repair when hot. Asked over $3k to replace a txv valve and they offered a 10% discount which got it down to $3k. They never replaced anything under warranty in 2024 as I paid for it. I strongly suggest every longtime customer of mannix to always get a 2nd bid from others. I did get them to give me a quote for a water heater in 2025 and they were also way overpriced relative to other very reputable companies . Not sure if they changed ownership in recent years but something has definitely changed. I did get other bids from other very reputable companies on this txv valve replacement and they were anywhere from $1k-$2k less. If others have issues with mannix I suggest you go to Carrier and other MFG sites and provide feedback. Note that refrigerant is supposed to be recaptured by law. And that the current cost of R410a is $399 or less for 25lbs to any hvac license holder. Of course some markup is needed. Also if you see any technician from any HVAC company ever venting Freon without recapturing it make sure you report to the EPA. And if you and an employee of an HVAC company that allows venting you can report it to EPA anonymously and get a percentage of the fine read more

Mannix HVAC is a very reliable and well managed company that works in teams that really deliver great service. They installed a new HVAC system at the beginning of the year (which works wonderfully). Then on Friday, when a light came on saying it needed a filter change, I called them because I have a special filter that connects to an ultraviolet light system to prevent bacterial and mould formation. They sent an excellent technician the same day! Emanuel Trejo was efficient, polite, professional and very helpful. Also, at their booking and information office, both Liz and Ashley were fantastic. I don't understand the negative reviews since everyone I've interacted with at Mannix has been honest and both products and services seem very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them! read more

This review is for Mannix's HVAC tech Rember Bonilla. This guy is amazing. He came out to our house to look at our 6 month old HVAC system, which has never worked right since the day it was installed. Rember asked detailed questions, listened to our lengthy complaints, and did a thorough investigation. Rember was able to figure out that the original installer wired the zoning ducts backwards! No wonder the system was always behaving bizarrely! Rember corrected the the zoning duct wiring, and then tested things carefully using a special camera to get inside the ducts and verified that the ducts were working correctly. Rember's patience and professional attitude is amazing, and he FINALLY solved our problem. I cannot say enough good things about Rember. Rember, if you see this, Thanks again. Called last night with an emergency AC outage. Left a message with the after hours line for a call back the next day to see if they had anyone available. Received a call at 7:40 AM this morning to confirm some details, and they let me know that, while they were quite busy, they would move me to a priority and let me know if they could get to me today. I fully understood and wasn't expecting to hear from them. By 1:30 PM, I received a call that they would be out within the next hour. The rep quickly confirmed our issue, repaired it, and gave us the final payment all within an hour after arriving. Cool air has returned to the house, and I couldn't be happier! My old Air Conditioning system went out and it was 87 degrees in my house (even though it was set to 72). I didn't know until 4 pm on a Friday. I called several places and they either didn't answer their phones or they said they could not send anyone the same day. I reached Mannix and they said someone would be there soon. Justin arrived in about an hour and quickly diagnosed the problem. He was able to repair it so it began working again, but explained to me that it would likely need to be replaced soon. He discussed some general options, but said others from his company could come out and discuss in more detail if I wanted to replace the system. The cost was $325, including $100 for replacement of a capacitor and the balance for emergency service. Justin provided excellent and timely service with a clear and patient explanation of what he was doing. I would definitely hire Mannix again and will turn to them when I replace my system. read more

Mannix had the best installation price in 2018 for my new Carrier Infinity series system, about $13K total. Hal was very helpful when selling the system, and proposed to replace the humidifier up high on the ductwork. The technicians were nice but I was extremely upset when they started cutting the side of the coil box (against manufacturers instructions) to put the water-introducing humidifier right on the coils. It was too late, the box was cut. Three years later, A/C doesn't work. I called Mannix with the error code, low system pressure. It's out of their 2 year labor warranty so they say $100 diagnostic and $185/hr. I had a competitor come look at it and there is no refrigerant left in the system whatsoever! He also showed me that the electrical connection inside the furnace was illegally connected with tape instead of a code compliant junction box. Great! So when I sell the house, there will be issues with the inspection. I contacted Mannix after the competitor visit and they held firm on not taking responsibility for these issues. I will be hiring the competitor to do full scale leak detection, refrigerant at about $1,000 and complaining to Carrier about the original installation. WARNING!! This company uses predatory "up" charging for parts installation. As an example, they costed a replacement part for $400 that actually costs $15 dollars using their "company cost sheet" that does not distinguish between parts and labor. This all during their annual paid inspection visit. This practice results is GOUGING the customer for a 5 minute remove and replace task. Again WARNING, this company is predatory and should be avoided at all cost. They did remove the charges after my phone call, but stood by their standard cost sheet as non negotiable and that this is industry practice. Oscar, the service tech, arrived at my house at 8 am on the dot, reviewed what services he'd be performing, donned his protective shoe covers, and went about doing the performance checks. Once he was done, we reviewed everything, making a few suggestions regarding things I should be mindful of to make sure my unit keeps purring along, all in a very professional yet friendly manner. He also was quite careful to clean up the area around my furnace once he was done - and he cleaned up so well that you'd never have known he was there! Mannix obviously prides itself on prompt, courteous, and expert service, something I've seen first-hand from installation through maintenance that really distinguishes them from other HVAC maintenance firms I've worked with in the past. Beginning a year ago in July our Air Conditioner died. Mannix came and replaced the unit with a new (more energy efficient unit). The system has worked perfectly (and so far this summer has saved us around 50 bucks a month in cooling costs). Our hot water heater was original to the hosue (12 years old) and died in January right before the big storm. Mannix was there, got a new hot water heater in (larger than the old one) also more energy efficient. Great team. Great work! Really highly recommend this group!!!! read more

We hired Mannix to replace our HVAC in 2 phases. That is, when the 2nd floor AC broke it was replaced followed by the ground floor only recently. We received a generously discounted price for the ground floor unit that was installed a few days ago. We got an AC unit, evaporator, gas furnace, thermostat, labor, and taxes for the about the same price as another competitor who offered only the AC unit. The installers were courteous and efficient. Our house gets uncomfortably dry in the winters and causes a lot of static electricity not to mention dry, itchy skin. So I had Mannix install a whole-house steam humidifier. There were a few hiccups in the first season but were resolved satisfactorily. At one point, the owner even offered to remove the equipment and refund my money if I wasn't happy but we ended up keeping it and I'm glad we did. Relying on Angie's List reviews, we chose Mannix to come to our home and perform the work. We had to wait over a month to get an appointment for a tune up on our older AC unit. The unit was working perfectly all summer long before Mannix arrived on a very hot July day. The young tech arrived on time and was professional, however when he saw our unit he seemed confused and nervous. Before he started working we told him we were thinking about replacing the system in the next year and wanted to get a quote for that as well. He said he would set up a sales appointment and have someone contact us. While working on the unit he spilled coolant or some type of fluid, and then said we needed to put more in which would cost us several hundreds of dollars. Later that evening when we were getting ready for bed we noticed that the house had heated up substantially and adjusted it down more. We woke up in the middle of the night and realized the house never cooled, and was now sitting at 85 degrees while blowing hot air. I was on maternity leave and ran to my newborn baby, whom I had in a sleep sack, worried he overheated since newborns cannot sweat. He was incredibly hot and lethargic. I immediately called the emergency line of Mannix and was told that if they came out and the unit wasn't working because it was our fault, we would be charged a large fee because it's after hours, so I left a very teary voicemail with management about what was going on. The rest of the night was miserable. I called Mannix first thing in the morning crying about the experience we went through all night and she said she would get someone to us immediately. No one came until late in the afternoon, but they were sure able to get their sales team to our house first thing in the morning. Since the representative broke our system the sales team offered me a 10% discount on a new system (yes, you read that right!) for the "inconvenience" of sleeping and living in a home close to 90 degrees with a newborn. A new tech came out later that afternoon, assessed the situation, and in more or less words said the guy that came out earlier, which he said was a newer, younger tech, should have never done what he did to our system because of the age, and broke it. No one from Mannix followed up with me to see how things were going or apologized to me. Their inexperienced employee broke our unit, then they tried to sell me on a new one through them with a bonus 10% discount for my troubles, and I had to live in a 90 degree home with a baby that was only a few weeks old for an entire week until I could get another company to come out and install a new unit, setting me back close to $6,000. They also never refunded me the tune up fee which adds insult to injury. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They lack the proper training and customer service when they make mistakes. read more

Two days ago, Mannix replaced our hot water heater. As I expected from previous experience with Mannix, Sales rep Eric and installers Matt and Billy were the epitome of professionalism, knowledge, experience, and people skills. In our case, Mannix was able to send Eric out the same day I called (!!!), and he explained our options. Not long after leaving, he called to say he had e-mailed me a proposal. I accepted it, and Mannix scheduled the job for the next day. Ours was not an emergency, fortunately, but it was great to have the new unit and not have to think about water all over the basement. Matt and Billy were efficient as well as informative. (I didn't know that our high-calcium water was hard on hot water heaters). The new unit, per code, now has a pan around it to hold water if there is leakage---a nice feature. Of course I cannot promise that Mannix will give you a promotional discount, but they did give us one, for which we are grateful. Mannix already does our heat pump, humidifier, and water heater maintenance agreement checks, and also replaced our humidifier not too long ago. And when a capacitor went out on the heat pump last July, Mannix was prompt in sending someone out, who diagnosed the problem and fixed it. All those experiences made it a 'no brainer' to choose them for this job. read more

I initially went with Mannix because the guy who used to service my AC (Daniel) moved to this company because "It's a better company and they treat their employees welll". Companies that treat their employees well usually have better employees :) So I stuck with Daniel at his new company and was glad I did. I had Mannix out to my townhouse twice shortly before I moved out - once to replace the AC compressor and once to do a routine maintenance for home inspection. The compressor replacement went very smoothly, it wasn't Daniel but I was very happy with the service, work and cost. For the routine maintenance there a little confusion, again not Daniel, very nice guy though, however he thought he was doing a heating maintenance - maybe an assumption since it was in September. He asked me to turn my heating way up...err why?? Anyway, once cleared up he requested some bleach to clean out...something. Luckily I had some but that's only because I had a bunch of 'weird' cleaning stuff in preparation for move out. Maybe holding back a star for not having bleach is a bit harsh and maybe he would have had it if he had known he was there for AC not Heat maintenance - my point is just that I shouldn't have to provide "supplies". Shortly after I got a service call from Jerry. I was so surprised that a company owner would go out of his way to make sure new customers are happy that I actually didn't believe he was who he said he was and thought maybe he was from Daniel's old company and i was going to get him in trouble for 'stealing customers' or something! I have used Mannix 3 times so far. 2 years ago they fixed a broken thermostat, then for a fall checkup, and the other day they replaced a bad capacitor on the compressor. They came out very quickly every time, even in the middle of a heat wave when they must have been swamped, and they diagnosed and fixed the problems within half an hour. This last time the owner himself Jerry Mannix came. He said they were so busy he was taking some calls himself. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I kept asking him all sorts of questions and he took the time to answer all of them patiently. The other techs were all professional and had a good attitude. I would highly recommend Mannix for any heating/AC problems, they are way better than the big-name companies with the non-stop ads on TV. read more

Today was the second time we called Mannix. The first time was in the fall of 2013, for our annual fall maintenance. The technician Eric R. was pleasant, on time, and very helpful. The service and recommendations were excellent and we definitely knew we'd be calling them again in the future. Today, being a hot day in July and our AC wasn't blowing any cold air. I called Mannix and they were able to get someone out to take care of it the same day. Again, the technician Bill A. was friendly, and on time. I just phoned Mannix on 1300 626 649 and a woman answered with the word "Hello" As there was no company name mentioned I asked "is this the air conditioning company" to which she replied in an angry tone "yes but we are closed". I said that's to bad and hung up. I then looked at the website where it does note closing hours are at 5pm. I called at 5:07pm... The point is she answered with a terrible phone manner and lost my business. First, if the place is closed how come she answered the phone? Second, where the hell are your manners? This woman just cost her company 2 sales... We are ready to purchase 3 split systems for one home and a ducted system for another... would you call this service? I think not. Mr Neville Mannix, you have a breakdown in your miserable system as one of your staff needs the boot or you need to seriously re-engineer your customer service systems and staff. read more

Mannix Heating and Cooling installed a carrier heat pump for the previous owner of my home. The system is undersized for our house and does not heat and cool the house adequately when the temperature is below 35 degrees or above 85 degrees respectively. Worse yet, they only registered the heat pump for a five year warranty when it's within their ability to register it for a ten year warranty. Make sure they register you for the full warranty or better yet, find a company that has your best interests in mind and installs the right size system for your home and gives you the full warranty you deserve without having to ask. read more

Replaced HVAC w\Heat Pump, Humidifier, 80 Gallon water heater, Electric Panel - ~$14K in equipment and labor I cannot recommend Mannix highly enough. We had a 20+ year old HVAC system, a water heater that was even older, and an electric panel from the original construction in the late 1960s. The HVAC had failed a couple of times in recent months - among other issues, the system was overheating - causing either the fuses to blow or melting the wire insulation in the unit. After the last repair attempt (a company different from Mannix), the technician said he could not recommend our turning the system back on - and would note the same in the repair report he would submit to his company. So, I could no longer put-off replacing the HVAC. I had five different companies come to the house, do an assessment, and provide a quote. Without prompting they all made the same recommendations (replace the HVAC and electric panel). Several suggested replacing the water heater as it was likely to fail in the not distant future and they could offer a discount if all the work was bundled. I narrowed my decision down to Mannix and one other vendor. Both had solid online reputations (Angie's List, Yelp, etc), but what decided it for me was the combination of Mannix's responsiveness and willingness to strike a deal that was equitable for both of us. I had many questions and Jerry was not only very quick to respond, but was detailed and professional in his answers. And when the crew completed all of their work, he came to the house personally to inspect the work and ensure that I was satisfied with all the work (which I absolutely was). The crew that did all the work was very professional and kept me informed of their progress and made sure to ask questions to confirm what I did/didn't want. They were very careful in removing the old equipment and installing the new - ensuring there was no damage to the house or the back yard. And they did a solid job cleaning-up after themselves when everything was done. The panel was replaced within a couple of hours and the HVAC, Water Heater, and Humidifier were all installed the next day. I don't think I could have asked for a better experience - I recommend Mannix, without reservation, to anyone. read more

The booking process was polite and professional. I was told that an engineer could come out in the afternoon and I was made aware of the service charges - all good. Jerry arrived and was very polite, very professional and walked me through the problem and what needed to be done. I was made aware of all the costs involved before he carried out the work and I felt very put at ease with the costs and work to be carried out. The work was completed quickly - new capacitor, additional coolant and the AC was working again within an hour and a half. Perfect! I cannot thank these guys enough - and the cost was very reasonable. Wow, Brian is the absolute best tech! He's just so honest and trustworthy which is hard to find in this business. That's the most important point, now to the details. I live in a townhouse where the heat blasts upstairs in the winter to the point where we have to sleep with a fan on upstairs. After messing around with dampers at first I could only find one but then found another in a very tight and hard to reach place which for some reason was taped down by the builder. I called around a few places and finally settled on Mannix as they seemed to have the best customer service and were able to schedule an appointment immediately on New Years Eve. Unlike other places, they seem to have a great system set up with a dispatch and they call you 45 min prior to arrival. The first tech that came by, Tom, was honest and after looking at the issue, he found that the damper the builder installed was broken and not functioning so I would need to either install a new one or do something like zoning which would be more complex. What made it difficult to assess was again the poor design of my town home and how remote of a location the damper and vents were. Instead of giving me a half-ass quote and BS'ing me, he said he's going to have Brian look at it since he would know the best solution being more of an expert. He then took pics of the situation and told me Brian would take a look or come by to provide a better assessment. Off the bat you could tell they weren't about making money as much as they were in finding the best solution. So then Brian comes by, quickly diagnoses the issue, and then repairs the issue in his own time. Brian was very informative, provided detailed descriptions of the issue and how he remediated it. I was just so impressed in how honest he was and providing a solution that didn't cheat me when he easily could have. You may think I'm over exaggerating when I say he was honest and trustworthy but I am not. I was so impressed with his dedication and diligence to my issue that I offered him a sizable tip which I felt was fair and well deserved. However, Brian would not accept. I then proceeded to insist and even hassle him to take it and he just would not. I mean who does that now days?!?!?! Good honest people, and that's what Brian and the folks at Mannix seem to be. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone and will do so to all my friends and family! read more

The workers were clean and polite and waited in front of our home at 7:15 a.m. for their 8:00 a.m. appointment. They finished the job and showed the entire work to me. What is the greatest thing about this company, is that they are reputable, and they are less than 1/2 the price of Cardinal Gas. read more

I called them recently for an afterhours problem, left a voicemail, and got a call-back in minutes from the admin lady on site asking if I needed emergency service or if it could wait til morning (I told her it could wait). Then ten minutes later, I got another phone call from an actual technician who talked to me for a bit. It's always nice when a company cares enough to respond quickly AND follow up. The next day I received a prompt visit and had my issue solved. The tech was very honest and thorough about my options - didn't try to con me into saying I had more of a problem than I did. I was impressed and will use them for my bi-annual HVAC service. As far as quality of service, responsiveness and honesty, the only comparable business I have seen in the NOVA area is Bradham Auto in Alexandria. A high compliment from me! read more
