Nondescript and unremarkable from the outside, observed while driving by...at the legal speed and paying full attention at all times...but a truly surprisingly-good dining experience had thereafter. Ordered for takeout, and everything was at or above best case scenario expectations. Amazing burgers, fries, tots, and beer-battered onion rings ... and the none-healthy food was pretty good, too! Personally recommend the South of the Border burger for a nice twist of customary Americana with a spicy edge...crispy bacon, jalapeño and guacamole. Do NOT forget to order the Cronuts! We checked out Manny's on a recommendation from a friend and were pleasantly surprised at what a great little place it was. Nice bar area, very chill atmosphere, excellent service and great food! Everything we had was very tasty. My French onion soup was one of the best I've tasted in some time, and it's a dish I order often if I see it on a menu, but most places version is terrible. Yay! The old Elmhurst Public House has been fabulously transformed into Manny's Ale House! Fresh renovations and a shiny new beer menu are some of the highlights. That big clunky bar in the center of the main room is still there but looking much spiffier. Lots of big screens to watch sports. Dining room off to the side is nice for families. Our baby LOVED the aquarium. Two thumbs up for the awesome local craft brew selection on tap. Everyone was friendly and service was fast! Might need a hostess at the door though... Steak sandwich with seasoned fries is a winner. The flat bread was cardboardy rather than crispy. Meh. PLEASE consider putting a good house made veggie burger on the menu for us veggies! Bruschetta Burger ... doesn't that sound awesome? Well, it did to me. That's why I ordered it. But, alas, to quote my friend Jim, "while I was eating the burger I was trying to remember what I ordered." That was, unfortunately, the experience that all three of us had at Manny's Ale House (formerly Elmhurst Public House) last Friday. I wouldn't even say the burgers were "ok," I would say, don't order one. Despite the toppings, they had little flavor. Fortunately, the fries were really good, the coleslaw not bad, and the drink prices very reasonable. I was disappointed in the burger, but they did a really nice job on the remodel! My son and friend would rate Manny's at 3 stars, I would give them a solid 3 1/2. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. I had almost every item from the appetizer list . All very good( the spinach deep /w pita, the calamari very yammy ). After a cancelled baseball game for my nephew, we decided to hit this place up for lunch. In a nut shell it's a bar. That being said they have a pretty extensive menu to choose from as well. Pool table toon. Which from the looks of it could be a fun place to hand out later at night with the younger crowd. My Mother and I had the Manny salad which was very good. Grilled chicken with a raspberry vinaigrette on the side over a bed of spinach, cranberries, apricots, shredded cheese & nuts if I remember correctly. The place was clean, waitress was a doll. Space is ample for my daughter & her wheelchair. It is handicapped accessible with a ramp in the parking lot. Overall great first visit. They open at 11 am and we opened the joint for lunch. I went here the other day for lunch with three other people. We were all told we were going to back alley burger and then the person who told us that was like no we're going here. Boooo. I would have rather had back alley. Ok, so as soon as you walk in the smell of bleach hits you right away. I guess that's good? Idk I don't really like the smell of bleach. If you go to the bathroom beware that room smells like straight sewage. Gross. They need an air freshener or something. One of my lunch mates is extremely picky they didn't have anything that really appealed to her. She ordered hot wings extra hot and they barely had any sauce on them. One plus side was she really wanted fried pickles so they made some for her. Myself and another lunch mate went with the Mediterranean burger. It had a weird taste. There was two types of cheese. I know one was feta the other I have no clue. I tried a bit by itself and it was disgusting. Weird flavor and texture. The fries were honestly the best part of the meal. One person had the fish tacos and loved them. Not one complaint from her. Ps if you order mikes hard lemonade they only have cranberry not regular. The picky one made them take it back and they did. That's why I'm giving them 3 stars and bc they made her her fried pickles. The best part of my whole experience was the other customers. The two guys to our left and the two girls to our right. Very good adult macaroni and cheese with chicken. nice little pub with good service. Has a good size menu and daily specials.

Everything inside was clean and brand new. The bar is huge and is surrounded by big flat screen tv's. The food tasted great and was perfect for watching the Hawks game. I had the pulled pork sliders and a side of loaded fries. The BBQ pork was tender and the fries were nice and crispy. They have a bunch of local beers on tap and was told they change them seasonally. The place was bustlin with people inside. They have tables located all around and a designated dining area. They even have a 150 inch projector playing the game. Staff is friendly but u can tell they just started out. I was told they opened in September so service will improve Will comeback for the food tv's and drinks. read more

Went here today as friends of mine bought a house nearby. I like the place itself. Great place to watch a game and I like the setup of the bar in the middle. It was totally empty when we went, but whatever on that. The guy who served us didn't seem interested in serving us; he was slow, unattentive. Had to get up and flag him down a couple of times. Didn't even bring waters until we asked after we got our food. And that was only to two people. I got the cream of chicken soup and that was good. I ordered a burger, which I followed the advice of other reviewers. Someone wrote they have "out of this world burgers." That person was wayyy off. The burgers seemed frozen to me (although my friends disagreed with me). My biggest peeve with burgers is not melting the cheese and this had that problem. I liked the guac and onions, but that's about it (I got the Mexico burger). I ate it, but still. I liked the weird fries/wedges, but they definitely skimped on that, should be more on the plate. Great drink menu with lots of beers. The bloody mary was from the bottle. This place I feel could do a lot better but they just don't want to. That was the vibe I got. read more

There is honestly not a bar within a 10 mile radius that I have been to where I can say that the food was better. What the HELL? Can't any establishment that rests in this lot get anything right? Well, at least Elmhurst Public House started on a good note. It's too bad that I can't say the same for Manny's. Interior is clean and spacious, but doesn't have any particular motive or theme associated with it. Food tastes and looks frozen bought. Completely over-priced for the amount and quality you receive. Service is like watching a flying trapeze act - especially when it comes to getting your bill. There's nothing unique, quirky, quaint, etc. about this place. If they were to revise the menu and just focus on some really good home-made items, I would consider coming back, since we only live five minutes away. I anticipate a CLOSED sign in the next 6-8 months. read more

I live just down the street from Manny's, and I've been in a good handful of times. Today, I came in for the Barcelona / Real Madrid game. I was hoping to watch the game with fans, on either side, and unfortunately it was pretty quiet today. Regardless, the fiancé and I enjoyed the game and the service. Manny, the owner, is great. Very friendly, and he always makes you feel comfortable, and is always making sure you have everything you need. The food is good, not great, and although they have a good selection of beer, they lack in their stout beers. I had to settle for a Guinness. This place should be drawing in more people. With an owner like Manny, who is invested in his business and his customers, it should attract more people for a Saturday afternoon. Add some more stouts, and I'd be back more. The key to Manny's is to know what to order! The good is great, the bad is really bad. This is what I gathered from half a dozen visits. Pros: excellent burgers and pulled pork. But don't ask for a burger not on the menu, I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger, and got. Their Mediterranean. Sent back 3 times. Finally they asked "what's on a mushroom Swiss burger?"! Sereously? Great beer selection, apps are ok Cons: horrible corned beef, shoe leather style, terrible salad dressings (home made, my butt!) service is still in the weeds, but getting better. I really want this place to work, and it has enough pluses to succeed. Awesome redecorating, lots of tv screens. I just wish the menus was good across the board. read more

The bar was pretty empty when we went there. I thought with the Blackhawk's game on, it would be busier. The beer selection was okay and the apps were 50% off which was cool. The bbq wings were good. My turkey club was terrible. The turkey was slimy. Yuck. I choked down 1/4th of my sandwich and just couldn't. For a $10 sandwich, I wasn't impressed. We actually went there for karaoke (didn't realize there was a game on) and the place pretty much emptied after the game...okay...yeah it wasn't a fun atmosphere since karaoke happened after the game. The dj tried his best but my friend and I kinda took turns singing cas no one else did. It was kind of a disappointment. The worse part is we left the bar to find my friend's car had been towed from a local strip mall parking lot! Not the bar's fault, just thought I'd mention that you should be careful where you park around there... Any way, we don't plan on going back. There are better karaoke places in the burbs. read more

Friendly staff. Came in a little early on a Saturday and sat at the bar for a few minutes while they wrapped up my order. Very clean on the inside not too busy so there was only one worker behind the bar and maybe one chef or two. Pretty standard for noon on a Saturday. Place looks a little dingy on the outside but don't let it fool you everything is updated and clean on the inside and even had a fish tank! Food was reasonably priced as they gave you good portions. My girlfriend and I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich and the drunken burger. Both Tasty as the chicken sandwich came on a chibata roll that was nice and fresh and the burger was packed and seasoned well.
