We were able to book an appointment via an app that was super easy. Manny himself is super kind and you can tell he prides himself on his craft and customer service. He talked me through what he was doing (I'm sure because it was my first time there). Don't hesitate to stop by here and get an awesome fade and cut. I've been going to a different barbershop for years and decided that it was time to go to a different barbershop that fits my goals, so I booked an appointment at 1984 Barbershop. Excellent service - Manny and Jr were very friendly and greeted you right as you entered the door. The environment was very calm, relaxing, and clean, and complimentary hot towels were offered after the session. I've never seen my hair look better. I'm a huge LA Galaxy fan and always thought Roman Alesandrini had a dope haircut. I'd show barbers his picture in hopes that they could replicate but I always left disappointed. It wasn't until Roman posted a picture and tagged Manny that I realized I could get a haircut straight from the same guy who cuts him up. If you want an experience barber, here it is. I have been going to Manny's Barbershop for more than one year and every time I go, I really like the results. When you come in, you get this semi retro style barbershop. You are always greeted by Manny and Jr and they always have a smile on their face. When you get cut by Manny, he always definitely ask you what you want and what he can to do the job well. I noticed that when he fixes my hard part which is always butchered by someone else, Manny makes sure it is done right so it looks slick and clean. The only thing I must say about Manny though is that sometimes you literally have to book him like one to two weeks in advance. I am the type to decide literally the day of to get a hair cut but that shows how precise and intricate he is to make sure you get your haircut right. He always for sure makes me feel safe whenever I get my haircut by him and takes his time to make sure that it is precise. I would say if you go there, at least almost expect 45 minutes to cut your hair because he definitely wants to make it perfect. The coolest thing also is that he cuts the Mexican soccer teams' hair. It is very cool to see that someone so popular is here in the area. The haircut forsure is decently priced. I definitely have gone to places that changed more than $35 for a hair cut and sometimes I try to tip nice so it comes out $45. Manny normally charges $30 and if you want he can sell you his own line of pomade for $13 which smells so good. I definitely recommend him to anyone who wants a really nice haircut! read more

We stopped by due to a very short notice. My son came down from Berkeley due to a dinner. We found this spot on yelp and decided to stop before going anywhere else. It's very rare to find a barber like Manny. I'm extremely picky with who I allow to cut my hair. I had the same barber for nearly 7 years and unfortunately I was forced to find a new one in Long Beach. I visited a few other shops in Long Beach and I always left disappointed and unsatisfied. This time was different. The shop is clean and organized. Definitely a 5 star feel. There wasn't a flock of dudes waiting since it's by appointment. There's Dope Spanish music and drinks! If you want a cheap or quick hood cut... This is not the place. This place is legit and professional. Like I said. A 5 star feel. I'll definitely be going back. I try not to leave 1 star reviews, but wow seriously they did me dirty. I had made a penciled in appointment with Mannys Barbershop and I was told to text back to confirm. When I texted back, they told me ok, but it took too long to text back so now the appointment is 3:45. I said yes. I called texted them at 3:20 that I was running 5 mins behind. I'm literally walking up to the the shop from parking my car and they text me with "ready?" and I let them know I was walking up. They text back not even a minute later that my appointment was dropped, but that I was next. I was relying on making an appointment because I have an event to go to. Maybe this was a sign though, that their haircuts are like their customer service . . .extremely lacking. I was offered, 5 bucks off to offset the inconvenience. Lol, why would I go back if I had a bad experience without even stepping foot inside? Everyone knows that a haircut appointment on a Friday afternoon is extremely important. This is one of the best barbershops I've ever been too. When you walk in, you're greeted by the owner Manny who has great barber experience and is very friendly with everyone. The other barber Andy cut my hair and he is also really friendly and cut my hair really nice. It's worth trying out this place. It's best to make an appointment if you're not that patient waiting. Imagine a small, local restaurant run by a local guy who learned to make food at a world-class level, and gets brought in by stars to cook, but still serves up the same quality for an incredible price to the people of the city he's from. That's Manny, just with haircuts. If you go to his Instagram page, you'll see him doing private cuts for, literally, the biggest soccer stars in the world. You can get that same guy, same quality, for a price that makes a weekly haircut affordable. Make no mistake, this is a neighborhood barbershop so don't expect too many frills. You can, however, expect the highest quality. On top of that, the guys are really cool too. Not trying to hard to be a macho barbershop, just straightforward and friendly and good at what they do. I pay about $20 for a haircut, and he takes his time to make sure it's done right. Lines and hard parts and such cost a little extra - not a lot. To put it another way, I live in Belmont, I work near the Towne Center, but I'd drive twice as far to come here. It's that great. Tip: the door is usually locked, so knock on it when you get there. I wish I could give negative stars on the worst haircut I've had years.. Which is funny because Several years ago my hairline was pushed so far back by this dude it wasn't even funny, but I don't hold grudges & the other day I was in the neighborhood and decided to go in for a trim.. told the guy (manny) to leave the front longer to comb up and fade the sides. I was surprised when it looked odd in the mirror but didn't think much of it. I showered at home and there I saw it, a huge batman looking McDonald's arch on my head where my comb up is supposed to be, also noticed he pushed up the corner of my hairline where my temple is making my face look strange, maybe if I could see me hair being cut I could of prevented this embarrassing haircut. Not to mention he sliced up the back of my ear when "cleaning me up". Overall thanks for the cut dude never going back there again, I'll cut my own hair before I step foot in there again!!!!
