2nd visit to Manny's brought G ma for some lunch. Have to say they excelled once again. Jose was our server and he was attentive throughout service even being very busy. On to the food I tried the tortilla soup, chicken broth with vegetables, avocado and lots of white meat chicken. Delicious Tiki hubby did not venture out and had the same dish as last visit. I have been a long time customer of this location, and everytime we go we get excellent and fast service. I am not sure if management changed since the last time we visited but today around 8:30 we went. We were seated and ordered our drinks, I ordered a manny taxi with tajin and a water. I received my drinks with out tajin and no water. After about 10-15 min of being seated our server was nowhere to be seen and there were at least 5-6 servers standing around. We waited about 25 min to place our order and no one helped us. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. I told the front staff our server forgot about us and we would like to leave and pay for our drinks, not one apology they just rang us up and we left. Most of the hospitality and attention seemed to be for the Caucasian customers. We were not entitled to the same treatment and hospitality as the other customers around us. This will probably be the last time I will attended Manny's and it's unfortunate because we really enjoyed the food and service they used to provide. read more

Amazing service; we arrived at 9:15 they closed at 10:00. Sat immediately, greeted by busser (I think?) he took our drink order and they were perfect. Soon after waiter brought chips and salsa and took our order. He didn't write anything down but our food was exactly as requested. Honestly, there's not anything too special about this place. The service was friendly and the food and drinks were average. The queso dip wasn't my favorite so I'd probably skip that. Beware they add zeros to the tip..... Came out to the Downtown location from Irving to support the restaurants and have a nice meal. Everything started off very good food was done promptly when we arrived and we did enjoy it. Now here's where my one star comes in. it's not for the food it's not for the service but for my bank account the next day. My bill came up to $32 and I gave her a $10 tip due to the fact that I know they're not making much money and a lot of people picking up food really don't tip all that much. The next day I wake up to $100 overdrawn on my account. They put in $100 Tip instead of a $10 tip. I contacted the manager and was told it was going to get refunded but as of today four days later it's not refunded. I've worked in the restaurant industry before and I know that tips get paid out at nightly so it should've been questioned when the tips were so high and obviously not doing that much business due to it being takeout only. We live in the area and have always loved Manny's. We keep giving it another chance lately. The food is still great, but the service is incredibly horrible. Waiting on chips and salsa for several minutes is not acceptable at any Mexican food restaurant. Some of the servers have been there forever & they are great. We cringed the last 3 times we have been when we get the new same servers we have lately had. It is unbelievable the amount of time it takes to get water, chips & salsa, or even the check. The manager sits at the bar and talks to the servers/bartender & does not seem to motivate anyone. The servers are in the kitchen & at times,,,,, you would not know they were even there. Chips are now served in a cup that my family goes through in 1 minute. You ask for more chips and wait 10-15 minutes. Then they arrive with chips & wait 10 more minutes for salsa. I sure wish they can get this figured out. I am a fan of the restaurant & hate even writing this bad review, but someone needs to know. If it was only one occasion this happened, I would not even think about writing a review,,,,,,, but this is a pattern that we have experienced on our last 3-4 dining experiences there. read more

The old uptown location was awesome, both the old house it was in and the food and drink. But it burned down. It's as if the Mockingbird location is completely unrelated to the old location. Maybe all their recipes perished in the fire. Food is blah. Drinks are blah. Atmosphere is blah. Did I mention it's blah? We gave it a few tries, but we're done now. (The fajitas are some of the worst, least flavorful I've ever had, and we're in Dallas, people--land of ubiquitous fajitas. How hard can it be to make good fajitas?) The only redeeming quirk was that their menu used to feature "cowboy meat"--a pretty funny typo, but they fixed it with newer menus. read more

It was hard for me to locate only due to my navigation thinking it was entirely somewhere else. Once inside, seating went fast. The hostess and waiter were very accommodating. Waiter serviced the table numerous times without asking for extra water or chips. We ordered the cheese quesadilla, lunch beef fajitas, table side guacamole, quest blanco and our table also ordered the quest chorizo which comes out normal and then the waiter sets it ablaze and wraps it inside the tortillas. Everything was good. Not the most amazing fajitas or quesadilla and the quest blanco wasn't the best we've had but not bad for Tex-mex. The salsa and guacamole stood out the most. They make the guacamole at the table or at least pretty close and serve it in a large guacamole stone dish. The salsa was authentic and had just the right amount of spice. In fact, the place was nice but when I go to Tex-Mex restaurants, I usually wind up seeing the same things over and over and they don't appeal to me but on this situation they had a couple of items that I thought they were pretty good so I ordered one, but I got the wrong chili sauce. I asked for the green chili and it came in red. The waiter offered to take it back but I declined because I don't like food going to waste. I like both the styles of sauces but I was wanting the green sauce so that was not a big issue so really the only thing is that I'm not a big fan of Tex-Mex restaurants. I usually just get fajitas. You can hardly mess up fajitas. The cocktail was a little weak. It tasted like they forgot to add alcohol lol maybe I'll go back and try the fajitas. Can you tell that I'm a big fan of fajitas? I have eaten here so many times with my service animal and was never turned away. I went tonight for dinner and was turned away and told they do not allow service dogs. I spoke with the manager and educated them on the law and how it is agaisnt the law to not allow a certified service Animal and also told him I come here frequently (every two weeks at least) WITH my service Dog and was always allowed in. He told me He was sorry but the OWNER doesnt care about the law. I was refused service. This is appalling. The owner should be ashamed of himself for discriminating against people with special needs that need service animals! read more

The grilled fajitas were full of onions and seemingly the pieces of chicken, beef and shrimp were counted one by one. Portions were skimpy considering it was $30 for the plate. I bet money the tortillas are from the grocery store across the street. They are the Mission tortilla brand is my guess. There's other Tex-Mex places nearby to eat, choose wisely.
