I've lived in Dallas for ten years, and I've never visited E-bar. I'm from ATX and the drinks remind me of Baby A's (IYKYK)! They were so cold, strong, and smooth. E-bar might have just won the spot for the best TexMex chile relleno in my book (I was a die hard Chuy's fan before they quit selling them). The beans clearly have the pork grease (yum) and the rice was delicious. Even though the place was packed, we were told it'd be a 30ish minute wait, we were seated in less than 20 minutes. Good food and great vibes! I visited with a group of three to enjoy dinner and watch a soccer game. Although it was quite busy, the wait time is very reasonable. The staff and other patrons were all enjoying the game together--there's definitely a good community that comes to this restaurant regularly. As for the food, the portions are GENEROUS. Each guest gets their own dipping bowl of chips and salsa. We shared an appetizer and two meals, and still had plenty of leftovers. I highly recommend the fajita nachos, which come loaded with toppings. Their drinks are also very strong, so plan accordingly! With all the fun and food, I accidentally left my wallet and did not realize until the next day. The staff held the wallet in their lost and found, made sure to ask verifying questions, and asked me to confirm if all my belongings were still in the wallet before leaving. I desperately wanted to like this place because I've heard positive things about it. I've been here on three separate occasions, and the service each time has been increasingly worse. The first time I walked in with my friend, we asked if they were still serving food, and there was a long drawnout pause before they said that the kitchen was closed. I felt that this was odd she could just set the kitchen was closed and moved on, but however, we left went to get something to eat somewhere else. The second time we showed up, we ate at the bar and the bartender was OK. There was no warmth, but he wasn't blatantly rude. This last time I ordered online thinking that it would provide a better service and I was highly mistaken. When I showed up to pick up my order, I expected to pay extra for the bacon and I noted it in the online. They did not take Apple Pay and they could not charge my card that was already on file. He said that I would either have to go get a card or get cash so I left to go get cash. As I was driving to go get the cash he canceled the order. There was no warmth in him. He could not even charge me for something that was a similar price. He was rude and nasty, and I believe he assumed I was going to steal the food because he immediately grabbed it and ran to the back. I will not be going here again if I can help it because I don't think they actually like Black people black women or maybe it's just me I can't be sure. Went out to lunch with my intern group for my Birthday! Parking was okay, we parked in a lot across the street but it was a bit crowded. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos which were very tender and came with avocados and a corn salsa. There was also a lime avocado ranch sauce on the side to dip. Pretty large portion I ate one and was already full! It also comes with cilantro like rice which was really flavorful and a jalapeño bean soup which wasn't spicy at all. The service was very fast and our waiter gave us free sopapillas for my birthday! I prefer my sopapillas to be dipped in honey and more cinnamon, but can't complain because it's free! Pulled up to E Bar on a Thursday night around 8:30 PM and while they've got a small parking lot, they only had one spot left and I'd imagine it's pretty challenging to park on a weekend. I'm not a queso connoisseur by any means, but E Bar's is one that lives rent free in my brain. We also grabbed margs for the table and they are very strong. One was enough to get most of us sloshed and even the mango marg tasted like it was pure tequila. Chips were thin and lightly crunchy that just tells you they've gotta be pretty fresh. E Bar Queso (4/5): Just a really nice quality, smooth, salty yellow queso. The ground beef was nicely seasoned and the avocado added a lighter creaminess, but I think just the queso would have been a solid choice as well. Creamy Spinach Queso (4.25/5): I'm usually whatever about creamed spinach, so it really surprised me when I preferred this over the original! We tried E-bar for the first time recently and thought it was a solid tex-mex option in Dallas. Of note, this was a takeout order. We got the chips and queso, beef fajitas, and a cheese enchilada. The queso was a white queso which was delicious and also came with a great red salsa. The fajitas were good, but I have had better beef fajitas and usually like having the bone marrow butter with it. The cheese enchilada was also very delicious and I would order that again. Overall, this was a solid spot and I would be excited to go eat there in person next time and try more items on the menu. read more

I met with the family here for a meal and it was great. There is a parking lot right across the street to park at for free. They had a table ready for the 5 of us and service was all smiles. It wasn't crowded for an early weekday dinner. Oh how I do love a good Tex-mex meal. I was torn between spinach and mushroom or cheese enchiladas but decided to go with the latter without regret. I had no complaints with the fresh salsa and chips while waiting for the food. The food was ready quickly. Refried beans were on point as well as the rice. The two enchiladas were filled with a nice thick savory cheese. I had one topped with queso and the other with chile con carne. The queso was delightful, but the carne sauce worked better to break up all the cheese. I tried the veggie nachos and they were good as well. The chips were placed individually on the plate and were thick enough to hold up to the weight of the toppings. We did have a little bit of a wait, but it was the weekend and at peak time so not to be unexpected. we were able to sit outside in the area with chairs and drink a beer and people watch. We were seated the enclosed patio are which had great air-conditioning and our waitress was Mia . She was a delightful young lady that has an attention for detail and anticipates your needs. After a decent but not great meal for a party of five, I was surprised when my bill came to me with a 20% tip added in automatically. The waiter made no mention of it but I noticed it. This is what I would have tipped anyway. I gave my credit card for the waiter to process payment and return. When he brought the receipt back to me, there was nothing to indicate the added tip, but there was a blank space for me to add a tip. Fortunately I had seen the tip on the itemized bill (which was not presented when the receipt came back), and I avoided being duped into double tipping. I find this practice to be deceptive. At a minimum the waiter should have told me clearly that the tip was already included. read more

Service was immediate as we walked thru the doors. We did not have a lunch reservation but they were able to sit us right away. The staff is knowledgeable and knew the menu quite well. They even made some suggestions and recommendations that we took. The restaurant seems small but it holds several small tables with a large bar area. Everything about the EBAR is great. It's worth the journey to get to the destination. That's a great place to go if you're gonna have a meltdown.( which is actually a very strong margarita). The fajitas are phenomenal the enchiladas I've never had anything bad and it's the best text. I've taken friends who no text back that aren't from here and they hands-down think it's great as well. The seat is normal two tops four tops a back bar a front bar and the service is really good. They do get crowded so please be patient with your server the food comes out really fast as well. It seems to, but please try to save room for dessert because they've got the best flan I've ever had. read more

E bar is a beloved Dallas staple, but I personally cannot say that I am a fan. To begin, it is very disorganized leading to a claustrophobic feeling even if it's not that busy and the chairs are uncomfortable. Upon entering, we were greeted at the host stand with a smile; however, it quickly went down hill from there. Our server didn't come by our table to introduce himself or anything for a solid 10-15 minutes and we considered leaving as we thought they didn't assign a server to us. Once the server came over, he had no waters and didn't give us the time of day to ask any questions about the menu. We ended up only getting drinks and an appetizer and it was clear that the server was upset we weren't ordering anything else. For our order, we got margaritas and the stuffed jalapeños. Both were very standard and nothing special, but for the price, I expected better. They are clearly doing something right as lots of people rave about how great it is, but unfortunately I cannot agree. read more
