I've dined at Mano Bella several times. The focaccia bread appetizer is always solid. The bread has great flavor. The calamari is even better - I love the pesto aioli for dipping. I've tried several of the sauces and my favorite hands down is the vodka sauce. I like to add spinach and mushrooms to it. I have a few critiques though. I think the pasta water is under-salted most of the time. The noodles could use more salt content in my opinion. The salad proteins are always overcooked - edges are often hard. Finally, the service isn't great. Trying to get a water or tea refill is all but impossible. I will keep going bc the food is mostly good and I enjoy the ambience. read more

It was worth the try. To start you must get the house focaccia. We gobbled it up and ordered a second serving for the table. The oil that you dip it in is also delicious. Forgot to take photos of the bread because I was too busy enjoying it. Oops! We ordered meatballs as an app, and I had the lasagna for my entree. Both were pretty good, though I wish the lasagna had a bit more of a "noodle-y" bite to it, if that makes sense. I felt like I was just eating a bowl of cheese and sauce. The ratio of noodles to cheese and sauce didn't feel balanced, and felt more like lasagna soup, but overall, it was decent. I think I'd try something different next time. My husband had the mussels and said they were okay- basically mussels and tomato sauce. As for the ambiance, it's casual Italian dining experience, and includes a market at the front of the store for take home breads and pastas. read more

The food i had was delicious. It was the Bugatti pistachio pasta. Perfection. While is why I recommend the pre-made pasta dishes and not a create your own. Two people at the table did create your own with the cream sauce, and one tasted perfectly seasoned and maybe with a nice bit of parm while the other tasted bland and awful. Mano Bella continues to be a nice Italian restaurant with great food and a cute and small market selling fresh pasta that gives it a nice vibe. I am a regular here and usually come for business lunch meetings. This time I went for an Arnold Palmer to drink and for food I ate the Amatriciana pasta (fresh bucatini, spicy tomato sauce, pancetta). It had a really nice texture, the sauce was tasty and the right level of rich, and the small pieces of pancetta were just my preferred size to get a not too meaty bite. I had no issue eating the entire serving. I ended with the affogato with stracciatella. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS! As always, service is friendly and helpful. I was craving homemade pasta, and Mano Bella delivered! The folks at the restaurant were very friendly. We went as a group and shared a few appetizers--the prosciutto & burrata hit the spot, and the fried ravioli were fun and surprisingly not too heavy. For the main dish, I chose the vodka pasta, subbed in radiatore, and added spinach. The pastas had a really nice texture, the sauce was tasty / the right level of rich, and the small pieces of meat were just my preferred size to get a not too meat-y bite. I had to push through a bit but finished the whole thing. We split some desserts--I thought the tiramisu was a bit unconventional due to the fluffier/cakey lady fingers, but it was still good / not overly sweet. I really enjoyed the affogato with stracciatella gelato and would get that again :) The interior is nice and not too crowded/loud, and they have a cute Italian store section. read more

Mano Bella is a nice Italian restaurant that also doubles as a small market selling fresh pasta. The ambiance is lovely and ideal for a date night. It can get busy so service may not be the quickest, but everyone is very friendly. I got the House Focaccia with Burrata and Prosciutto and Ricotta Tortelloni with Chicken Breast. I wish bread service was free here, but it is not. But I feel like getting focaccia bread with a cheese and a meat is a must at any Italian place! Their House Focaccia was delicious, especially paired with the Burrata and Prosciutto. My Ricotta Tortelloni with Chicken Breast was drenched in this lemon butter sauce that was really good. However, I have learned that I am not a big fan of tortelloni as it is usually stuffed with cheese (in this case, ricotta), which I found to be too cheesy for my liking. I also thought that the tortelloni as a pasta was a bit stale? Overall, I think that this place is decent for Italian food. If I could, I would probably rate it a 3.5/5 stars. Delicious! This was our first time trying Mano Bella and we were blown away. We made a reservation online and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is nice since they have TVs playing that show how all their food and treats are prepared. We ordered the bread with the truffle ricotta as an appetizer. Such a great combination and the ricotta cheese was delicious. If you like lasagna, you're going to love their lasagna here. Every bite had me wanting more until there was nothing left. The salmon was also very good and cooked to perfection. They offer a lot of baked goods at their market that you can purchase to take home with you as well. read more

Mano Bella is a great little spot! The moment you walk in you are kindly greeted and their cute little market will immediately catch your eye! My friend and I went on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. They do not take reservations, but we didn't need one. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. We decided on the fried ravioli for an appetizer. The dipping sauce was my favorite part of the appetizer. I decided on a custom made pasta dish, which was exactly what I was looking for. The freshness of their pasta is refreshing and evident immediately upon eating. For dessert, I had the season gelato and house made amaretti cookies, which were AMAZING! My daughters and I stopped in for lunch at Mano Bella. It's a cute and cozy spot that shares space with a small market, which gives it a unique vibe. We did experience a bit of a wait before being greeted, but once our server arrived, she was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome. This restaurant is known for its pasta, so we were excited to try it, but the dishes we ordered didn't have much flavor, which was a little disappointing. Still, I'm glad we got the chance to check it out. It may just come down to personal taste, so I'd encourage others to give it a try--you might enjoy it more than we did! read more

Food was delicious and I would very much consider coming back or going to the Uptown location. However, service was severely lacking. The time it took to wait for our appetizer and main dish was long but we can chalk that up to being busy (despite people around us arriving later and getting their food sooner), but when we ordered the dessert, it took almost 10 minutes before we were told they were out of it. Then when we ordered just the ice cream and the check, the check arrived well before the ice cream (which was delicious, wish I could've taken it home). If I didn't flag down the server as often as I had to, we would've waited longer at the restaurant. The food is great and the attached mini shop of goodies was a nice perk. Overall ambiance was solid and pleasant. However, the service could use improvement. read more

I was finally able to check out this place in South Park...and what a great discovery! The place was mostly a restaurant, but with a deli addition. A nice, casual ambiance with great jazz music overhead. I tried their Fried Calamari, and it was one of the best versions I've had in a long time! LOVED the super-crispy, flakey batter! I also tried their Alla Boscaiola...and requested a Vodka sauce (instead of its creamy sauce). I liked, but didn't quite love it. I felt that it needed a kick...maybe some tomatoes or something. Still, the pasta and the ingredients were very fresh, so points for that. Although I didn't love the pasta that I ordered, I loved everything else about the place...and felt they deserved 5 stars. Outstanding Italian meal! The pasta was the star of the meal. There was 9 of us for my youngest daughter, Katy's 13th Bday. We had reservations and they had our table ready when I arrived. Everyone opted for BYOP. See photos. We started with the house bread with EVOO. I love the videos they show making the burrata and pasta. The setting is casual at the same time the food is very refined. I am half Italian and the pasta reminded me of the homemade pasta I made with my grandma in her kitchen when I was a kid. It had a certain texture and taste that made the meal. I ordered bucatini with Italian sausage and vodka sauce. For Katy's Bday they brought her a large piece of tiramsu which we all enjoyed. MB will be on my short list for high quality Italian food. I love that they have a market in the restaurant where they sell the homemade sauces and pasta. Great service, food and atmosphere. Food was not good at all. I came here for hand made pasta, I got bland at best. My cream sauce was unseasoned and extremely bland. The chicken breast had NO SEASONING NOT EVEN SALT! It was terrible. The olive oil for bread dipping had barely any herbs and tasted sour. Portions are rather small for the price. I paid $20 for a bowl I could've made better at home with store brought pasta. The service was okay and I appreciate the host squeezing us in with no reservation. The restaurant itself is beautiful. But y'all gotta do better on the flavors with yall food. My advice? Skip this place and go to Olive Garden or make your own pasta at home. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise! Went to lunch on a whim but we were so happy we tried it. All of the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The place itself is very cute and the fact that you can order at the counter OR straight from the QR code at your table, is wonderful. It's not full-service, so don't go in thinking it is. There's a mini market right as you walk in. The food was very good. I could skip the focaccia and ricotta ($12), it wasn't what I expected and I wish the focaccia was warm. The salad was good and filling but the winner was the make-your-own pasta! Worth it!!! I'm looking forward to trying their menu pastas! From the friendly faces as soon as you walk in, to the market finds you can grab like fresh made meals and imported goodies, to every incredible dish on their menu, this spot is the real deal. Pasta is tasty. Sauce is mild so for those of us that have sensitive stomachs - perfection. The Parmesan doesn't have much flavor so needed to double the extra to be even have an impact. I'm more of a Romano girl for that reason. I'm not sure how much boar was in the pasta. There were at least a couple pieces but not as much as I was expecting. Service for a counter or order yourself via app 5 star. We had a group and many were technology challenged. They were super helpful in making sure everyone received their orders. 4.5 stars, rounding up. My husband and I tried Mano Bella one Saturday afternoon for an early dinner, and we are already thinking of going back very soon again! You can either order with their staff at the counter, or use the QR codes placed at each table to scan for the menu and create your order via Toast. Some customizations and written instructions are available, which makes this a really easy ordering process. You can order alcoholic beverages, and even keep your tab open if you plan to order more throughout your meal. We started with their homemade sourdough focaccia and ricotta. The four slices we received of the focaccia were moist, chewy, and absolutely delicious. Their homemade ricotta is more the consistency of cream cheese than the ricotta you buy in a store, and we loved the mild flavor. We only wish the ricotta had more olive oil in the bowl, but I bet we can add that to the instructions at our next visit. For our entrees, I had a $13 build-your-own pasta bowl with radiatore, a combination of cream and pesto sauces (you can choose one or two sauces at no extra charge), spinach ($.35 extra), and shrimp ($5 extra). The pasta was chewy and paired really well with the flavorful sauces. I got four shrimp which were medium-to-large in size, and perfectly cooked. I only wish I had tried their garlic confit ($1 extra), but I'll definitely add that the next time. I was on,y able to eat half my bowl, and took the rest home for another day. My husband tried their $16 lasagne. This lasagne was the BEST we've had anywhere, and I'm still salivating thinking about it. There were many layers--five or six--of thick, chewy noodles with a delicious meat and cheese filling. Spread around the plate was their sauce, also very good. He ate EVERY bite (or at least those bites I didn't snag myself), so no leftovers for him. We also tried their drinks. My husband had a glass of Pinot noir ($10), and I had an Aperol spritz ($13). Both were generous pours, and we enjoyed them. Their staff came around to check on us and remove plates, but were unobtrusive otherwise. The dining room is spacious, and I only wish the music had been turned down a bit, because some songs had vocals that were so loud it was hard to converse. We appreciated their choice of music, however--there was no pop here! They also have a refrigerated section near the door with their homemade pastas and sauces to take home. We didn't buy any, but may do so the next time. They also sell their pastas at the Matthews and Davidson farmers markets on Saturdays. We can't wait to return! read more

Beyond Excellent! The most simple well made Italian food in all of Charlotte. Fresh from beginning to end. The Bread Service is a must- the crunch on top is enough to bring you back the next day for more. The best hand made pasta and the sauces are simple and delicious. You can see your pasta being made right in front of you with the pasta window. I love that it is an order at your leisure from the QR code at the table. Which also allows for a quick no hassle check out. My service has always been great. Yes I have been here already a half a dozen times. - Yes it's that good. Brought a new to town couple here for fresh pasta. Began with the focaccia and fried ravioli. Food came out very quickly and was very good. Amazing dipping oil! While still chewing we ordered our entrees which came out seconds later along with hands picking up our unfinished finished starters. Received the Ragu (excellent), pear salad (very good) & Alla Vodka (incorrect). Had to rerun and redo and came back rushed and watery. Part way through meal we were asked if we wanted our check. The food was ok. The service was overly attentive until I gasped at how quickly they were rushing us out. Felt like we were being pushed. Wasn't appreciated. Overall a fair experience that needs some work and could be very good. Hopefully someone that cares can help work on this. read more

I came here to try a new Italian place in Charlotte and was overall very pleased with my experience! I loved how it was a little more casual of a place and everyone was very nice. For appetizer, we shared the bruschetta which was very good! The bread tasted very fresh as well as all of the fixings for it. For the entree, I got Radiatore alla Vodka without prosciutto and it was the best pasta I've ever had! It tasted super homemade and the sauce was incredible. My wife ordered the pasta with fresh mozzarella (burrata) and my son created his own with tagliatelle, sausage, onions and a red sauce. All the dishes were outstanding! Homemade pasta that soaked up the sauce and delivered one of the best pasta meals in Charlotte. The amatraciana had a rich flavor and the guanciale strips added a perfect texture and meatiness. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli and the affogato. Both were delicious and I will return just for affogato. The chocolate chip gelato was nicely covered by the strong, flavorful espresso. In the beginning of the review I mentioned the staff was proactive. There was a party on one half of the restaurant and it was quite loud. Nobody was being obnoxious, but having a party of 20-25 people naturally produces volume. Without saying anything to the waitress, the dessert was comped because of the noise. Came here looking for a Affogato! Found it ! Loved the lovely market inside and the ready made meals you can take home and fresh pasta. Nice casual atmosphere inside for dining and outside. It was a lovely fall day so we sat outside. My only beef here is I hate ordering off a QR code. That's the case here. Ugh. They have a nice menu of salads, pasta and appetizers and some other nice unique dishes. All freshly made. My friend ordered a limoncello spritz and the focaccia and olive oil. And had her a nice little pre dinner app. The focaccia I tried and. Was nice and soft inside and crunchy outside. I got my affogato and it was delicious, not too big as it can be in some places. And served with fresh strong espresso. Yum! Definitely hit the caffeine sweet spot! I also had a nice glass of Prosecco. Service was pretty prompt after you get your order in.
