As a fellow Filipino-American, it brings me great joy to support my people. I enjoyed trying this new spot! The cafe was busy when I entered and I could tell that people were enjoying their meal. I shared a pork adobo rice bowl with my friend. It was genuinely one of the best adobo I've ever had. The meat was sooooo tender and flavorful. I got to try the Salamat cookies as well! Both tasted great. I preferred the pandan over ube though. For the chai tea lattes, my friend and I tried the Pandan Chai and Ube chai. Although both were tasty, the Pandan was a little too sweet for my taste buds. Both were still good though so I don't mind recommending it to anyone who has a sweet tooth! I also got to meet the owner who was super nice. I didn't know this place only opened 3 weeks ago. Hopefully the cafe can hire more people to help handle the amount of success it's been acquiring already I am super people who excited to see this place grow! read more

Been here couple of times, and their drinks are a hit or miss. Cant say for food, but I ordered the black sesame latte and pandan latte and they are oddly bitter with minimal flavoring. Black sesame 5/10: I usually love black sesame drinks so maybe it was my fault for having expectations, but it was extremely bitter and had an odd texture. I had to add some extra milk and sugar at home and blend it a little more to make it palatable. Generally, I don't like my drinks that's sugary to begin with, but it was even hard for me to drink. Pandan latte 7/10: Much better, it was light and sweet. Pandan flavor was strong. Service: Like the coffee, hit or miss. I've had very nice and welcoming service, but also times where they were on their phone and I barely got the time of day. Ambience: During the afternoon on weekdays, there are less people and a solid study spot. There's a wall with cushions that's quite comfy. Weekends are busier and lively. Overall, I've had good coffee here previously, but could be hit or miss. read more

Always love to see another Filipino place to dine but fell short coz I was disappointed. Food was so so and in small portions. Combo was a piece of longganisa and a piece of bacon cut in half in a small bowl of rice. The Ube Latte was not really good sorry. But what really got me was the lack of Filipino Hospitality that we Filipinos are known for. Had eye contact with owner and he never said hi to us. We left and not a single thank you. I mean if your food is not that good at least give us a wonderful dining experience. The place felt cold and I am not coming back. I hope they level up after this review. read more

What a wonderful surprise in West Town. Great cafes are opening all around Chicago, finally. This Filipino cafe has great milk substitutes for excellent coffees and teas. Good is light fare but well seasoned. I'm looking for more from these folks. read more

Mano Modern Cafe is a new space in West Town that serves Filipino inspired bites and coffee drinks. I decided to venture out into the city with my friend to check it out. The space is quite small and probably seats around 30 people at most. Tables are very close together but not to the point where you feel like you are eating next to a total stranger. The service is very quick and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Mano gives off a very classy vibe, with its dark emerald green walls and hints of Filipino culture through the decor on the walls. I was disappointed that they ran out of the adobo bowl. As a new place expected to be busy, I think it should be a priority to have your entire menu available. I opted with the tofu sisig. It was savory and unique in flavor. The sauce it was topped with was very tasty with the rice. My friend opted for the longinisa bowl. The longanisa was very sweet and a solid option. However, he did say that the portion seemed very small for the price. The real highlight of our visit was the hot ube latte. It was smooth and had a deep, rich ube flavor - not artificial at all. Overall, Mano is worth a visit. It is a great addition to the list of Filipino eats in the city. read more

Cute little cafe. I'm usually pretty critical about Filipino places that open up. But, I still fully support! So, I came with an open mind, we started with the lumpia, got the combo silog, the tocino cheese burger, tiramisube, panda, ube and white rabbit lattes. Everything was delicious, but not as I expected. The tocino was subpar because it wasn't really tocino. It was essentially candied bacon, still delicious, but not what tocino really is. the latte were delicious and I would come back just for them. The workers behind the bar were kind and helpful. They helped us make decisions and were nice to speak with. Service was quick without lessening quality of the food. Would I come back? Maybe just for a latte, there are so many other filipino spots in the areas now that I could rather one of them instead. read more

Me and a friend came in this morning when they just opened(8:10am) to try them out for the first time, but didn't get a chance because of their bad customer service. Couple team members saw us come in but did not greet nor seat us. We had to ask where to sit, after we did, nobody came to the table so we decided to leave and go somewhere else to dine. read more

maybe i just caught them on a bad day, but i didn't like mano modern as much as i wanted to. it was just OK, and it was expensive to boot. 2 iced lattes (one ube and one pandan) and 2 mochinuts was almost $30, with tip. my latte didn't really taste like...well, anything. didn't taste like espresso and certainly didn't taste like ube. can't speak to my friend's pandan latte. the barista who took our order seemed annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted right away, despite there not being anyone behind us. i don't think i can give a fair assessment to the vibe of the place, since our ordering experience threw me off. if this was closer to me, i might give it another try, but i'm not exactly racing back. that said, i can't say it was a complete miss, either. read more

The rice bowl was just okay, a little smaller than expected and I probably wouldn't order the rice bowl again. Mano has a great ambiance and seems like a great place to hang out for a quick meal. Food is just okay, mainly that their protein to rice ratio is off, thought they were stingy with the amount of protein and the garlic rice could be a bit more flavorful - tried the adobo chicken adobo, longanisa, and beef mechado. My friend and I ordered an iced americano and got coffee flavored water, it looked more like iced tea. To be fair I did go within a few weeks of open and their staff seemed really inexperienced. Tiramisube was fantastic. Hoping that after a few more months, they find their rhythm. But my recommendation would be to stick to uncle mikes or kasama until then. read more

Was really looking forward to visiting this place because there's not many Filipino inspired cafes in Chicago but the two items I ordered fell short of my expectations. I ordered the Ube latte and was very surprised that there's no coffee in it but that's my fault and I should've asked. Regardless the latte tasted like 90% milk and 2% Ube powder and 8% cinnamon. There was so much cinnamon in the drink that after a while that's all I could taste. I also ordered the ube tiramisu. I was really expecting the cake to be layered and rich like a a traditional tiramisu with ube but it tasted like regular cake mix layered with ube cream. The cake was okay but not impressive and tasted like something I could make at home. For a $9 cake, I was expecting more. Anyway, that's just a review for these two items. read more

Always love to see my people/cultures getting more mainstream . Saw the sign last week and have the time to check it out. Cute modern place , not too big or small . Love the color of the building and minimal decor . Gotta get up a few steps to order which could be challenging for older or disabled patrons. I ordered Ube latte with almond milk and silog bowl-combo of longanisa and Tocino. Not sure about the latte cannot really taste the Ube might need to try it colder or with regular milk. The bowl , good size servings, I love the longanisa but the Tocino is not ur regular pork shoulder Tocino , it's sweet bacon , the rice was a little hard cold not a lot of garlic . I would like to go back and try one of the sliders/sandwiches and entree. While I'm waiting , good amount of people are coming in, maybe being curious like me or return customers .
