The convenience... Nothing beats it when it comes to shopping centers as it offers most of all parking especially in places surrounded by residential neighborhoods which is totally Salt Lake as this location is no different offering Safeway a full grocery store, fast food like McDonald's and various other restaurants as well as services from T-Mobile, banks and even gas station. The con is that it's very very dated along with many of the businesses as well the bathroom I hear is quite the adventure that I'll pass but with little to no vacancy it does serves it's community the use it needed I do find myself stopping at Long's and Safeway for various reasons and with that I do love the various selections they have here that does save me time which is enough for me. Don't expect to use any coupons that are from Mid-Week paper they don't accept them. It's up to the owner to use them but they are so cheap they won't let you use them. You would think that the couple times a year that Subway puts out coupons they would require the franchise to honor them, decisions to not honor is bad business. Number one thing to know about Salt Lake Shopping Center is that the parking is tight and can get pretty busy. Exiting or even entering the shopping center on the Pizza Hut/American Savings Bank side can be kind of weird since it's a short steep hill. Lots of shops in this center like Longs Drugs, Safeway, Texaco gas station, American Savings Bank, and restaurants like Pad Thai, Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Soon's Kal Bi Drive Inn, McDonald's, and Islander Drive Inn. I'm sure there are more that I missed, but just saying that this is a convenient shopping center. 4 stars based on convenience of all the shops, but I have not visited every shop here. read more

This is my 2nd time joining in the fun at Salt Lake shopping center with their Easter event. My grandson finally got a chance to ride the horse. although we stood in line for over 2 hours. It was worth the smiles and laughter. They have a lot of other small games, bowling -pin or throw the bunny tail on the bunny, spin the wheel, fishing, arts and crafts, decorate your own easter cookie and even a petting zoo that you can enter for a food bank donation or $1.00. This place is conveniently located in the heart of the Salt Lake Shopping Center. I've been coming here for a few years now and typically order the same items, house fried rice, sweet and sour pork, won ton soup, beef and broccoli, minute chicken, garlic shrimp and have never really been disappointed. The service is really good. The ladies are really nice and helpful if you dont know what you are in the mood for. It is not China Town but it is close and the next best thing. The food has been consistent each time I ordered and arrives quickly. They do have generous portion sizes and I always have plenty to take home. They have great daily specials on the white board when you enter. I know they have some questionable reviews on Yelp but all my experiences here have been very good. Lived in housing area by Salt Lake before anything was even built here. When the shopping center was built like back in the early 70's, it was great. Well since those early 70's, NOTHING has really changed except a few stores closing and opening. Other than that, this place is sooooo GHETTO now. I mean NO upgrades to ANY of the facilities. The rent must be ridiculous because closed store space will sit empty for like 2 yrs. Their idea of something new was a laundramat. The Safeway and Longs are great to have, but please UPGRADE these dumps. You look at other places and their new Safeways and Longs are AWESOME. No community would be complete without the neighborhood shopping center where people head for groceries, gas, medications, a late night snack, or even that cup of coffee before work. The salt lake shopping center is no "5 star experience", but at least fulfills the needs of the surrounding community. One of the best things about the shopping center is it's location as it's near bus routes, schools, the library, and within walking distance for some residents. For the residents that do walk, however, they sometimes "borrow" the shopping carts from Longs or Safeway to transport their goods home. And for residents that are brave enough to attempt to cross busy street that is Ala Lilikoi from the apartments across, one word of advice: RUN!........or at least walk fast as you've chosen to cross one of the busiest streets in Salt Lake not using a crosswalk. Salt Lake Shopping Center is like your hometown shopping place; offering stores like Safeway, Longs, T-Mobile, and other small shops and a laundromat. This place is like your one-stop-shop for home. You can fill gas here, pick up food from one of their eateries, get some groceries, and you're on your way home. The one thing I would say about this shopping center is that, it is outdated. And it has an opportunity to welcome updates to its property, such as a total face lift to its buildings, repaving the asphalt, adding charging stations for electric vehicles, and possibly even thinking of adding solar panels to it's parking area, to help offset costs of electricity, and giving itself a tax credit/write off. It would even help to think about the tenants that they have, and how they could update/improve the shopping options that they offer. As a resident, I do frequent Safeway, Texaco, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, the Chinese Restaurant, and the laundromat from time to time. Not that I'm suggesting to replace any or all of the tenants, but to maybe thinking about updating the place; much like how the Stadium Shopping Center recently updated parts of its property. Located in Central Oahu in an area locals refer to as Salt Lake is the Salt Lake Shopping Center on Ala Lilikoi Street, just off of Salt Lake Boulevard. This local community shopping center has the two popular anchor stores, Safeway and Longs Drugs on each end and several tenants in between including a few casual dining eateries, a couple of banks, a few Doctors and hair and nail salons. Helpful to have within the community, but definitely needing an upgrade and some renovations. The center feels old, dark and dirty. I am sure everyone knows what it is like now. Moreover, please be CAREFUL when WALKING in the parking lot. I ALMOST fell down after getting out of my car. I STEPPED into a HUGE POTHOLE! Salt Lake Shopping Center is one of the nearest shopping centers nearest to the Honolulu international airport and that's pretty neat! With that said, I had been here a few times to pick up dinner to avoid the pricier meal options available at the Honolulu international airport - whether its a red eye out to the mainland US or an evening jaunt to the neighbor islands. Other times was to explore this bastion of another Oahu community disconnected from my own world of Kaimuki and east Oahu, where I am normally, and see what hidden gems are abound here at the shopping center. This is your quintessential shopping center, where your basic needs are met. From a few restaurants and eateries, to banks, and supermarkets, the Salt Lake Shopping center has the basics and whatever you need is here. While there are really no higher end establishments here, it does service your needs in a real and fashionable way. The last time I was here was that of just choice. I wandered around Salt Lake Wine and Spirits to buy some wine for my upcoming 35th birthday, check out Sweets Fanatics, and hung out at McDonald's before heading back to Honolulu. On a previous trip, I checked out Pad Thai for a meal before heading to the airport. There is no right or wrong way to do Salt Lake Shopping Center, just got to see what's good here and hit this place up for your shopping needs. The Salt Lake Shopping Center is served by The Bus route #3, coming from downtown Honolulu, which is probably the only major connector to the Salt Lake area. Although I can be wrong, I'm pretty sure that's the case. There's always bus routes #19, #20, and others which pass through Nimitz Hwy near the airport, but it's quite a walk from there to get to the shopping mall. The parking can be good and bad. Plenty of spaces here, but can be a hassle when there are alot of people wanting to shop and do business here at peak times. Plan accordingly. Many stores and businesses here accept major credit cards, which is great. Can't do commerce these days without it, or else it'll be a great challenge. Not the easiest shopping center to get to, but it has its purpose. While I do enjoy going to Pearlridge shopping center, the Salt Lake Shopping center does fit my needs and is a good alternative if you don't like the afternoon crowd of kids and after work shoppers during the weekday afternoons. On the weekends, it tends to be emply, since many people do other errands in other areas of Oahu, but I enjoy the quietness of the malls on the weekends - whenever I am not traveling. I do agree with some of the yelp reviews that speak of the shopping mall being dated and could use a fresh coat of paint or a miniature revolution of sorts. It's a community shopping center and it's cute the way it is. It's serving its constituents and that's important. I've been finding myself here more often that usual lately, quite often actually and its grown on me. It really is a meager little strip mall and at first I viewed it as inadequate with not many shops I would necessarily use myself but it has grown on me. Yes the Safeway is small, old and not up to par with its newer siblings but once you get over that and accept it for what it can do for you then you can appreciate it for its handiness and see that it is in fact...cute. Longs is what is everywhere else but smaller and still has that familiar "Longs smell" thankfully its not a Wallgreens. You can get what you need when you need it from a familiar face that every community has. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, a solid coffee joint here in the SL area isnt anything special but provides you with what you need. In a community with as many early morning/evening walkers as Salt Lake, CBTL carries its own weight thats for sure. Salt Lake Shopping Center has value that those who live in the area can appreciate, it's humble, convenient and loyal. I've been living in Salt Lake for over 20 years and I've seen the evolution of neighborhood shopping center. Gone are the days of Libert's, the crack seed store, Morning Glory, Pay and Save, and Sizzer. Thank you God Soon's is still there. I find myself here almost every day for different reasons. Usually I can pick up a bunch of things and do my errands in one trip just from the shops here. When CBTL first opened I was disappointed because it wasn't a Starbucks. Now that I frequent CBTL from time to time, I am glad it ISN'T a Starbucks. Wines & Spirits has gone through its share of owners, but it's still there. I hope the Mama at Young's Ramen won't ever leave. Love her. Hooray for new management at Bluewater Shrimp. Finally, steak in Salt Lake that ISN'T a Blazin' Steaks joint! I recently saw a 'For Lease' sign at Jewels Paragon...does this mean that they'll be getting a new tenant? We shall see. I noticed the increase of HPD patrols here. It can get pretty crowded and loud after school lets out and HPD presence at nighttime reduces the risk of people doing questionable things. Yelp 365: 023/365 This is another "shopping center" similar to the one in McCully. Yes, it is bigger and has about the same number of shops. The biggest reason I like about this place compared to other shopping centers, Ala Moana AND Pearlridge included, is that this center includes a Long's AND a Safeway! These two along with the mini shops that have dry cleaning, barber services, and even a small liquor store have pretty much every thing you need. One of the main kinds of shops located here are the restaurants or little eateries. Places such as McDonalds, a kuru kuru type of sushi place, as well as an L&L franchise. These all around places are good and need very little improvement. This is probably the reason why most of these shops have been around for a while. With the exception of the kuru kuru sushi place which has changed four times in the past fifteen years. It was still a sushi house, but with different names and different managements. The places I enjoy going here are the Islander Drive Inn, (used to be before they closed down) the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, the Long's and the Safeway, and also the kuru kuru sushi type place here (sorry, forgot the name of the place). This shopping center pretty much has everything you need in a small community. The problem is that it much of the stores there are really just shabby in condition. Take the Safeway and Longs for example. They are the anchors of the shopping center and they look like they were forgotten during the 1990's. As someone living in the community, we are grateful we have something, but I always wish there was something much more modern. Take the Chevron gas station here. Being that there are no nearby competitors besides a Tesoro a few miles down Salt Lake Boulevard, the prices here are incredibly high. I just normally fill there if in an emergency and that's it. Safeway, longs drugs, mcdonalds, liquor store, bank, hair and nails salon, etc. there are quite a few eateries to choose from. And lots of seating to sit at. After school hours are the most busiest with the surrounding schools coming over for a snack or to hang out. Parking is usually never a problem unless it's before thanksgiving or Christmas! On Friday, March 12, 2014, I stopped by Cold Stone's Creamery in Salt Lake shopping center for some ice cream. It was around 7:30pm after a long day of training and I was hoping that there wasn't a long line so I can just order my ice cream and leave. So I showed up and thank God there wasn't a line and I got my ice cream fast. But I did hear that the place can be packed sometimes depending on the time of day and what not. I was impressed that the service was really good and the employees had good attitudes and didn't just make my ice cream angry and frustrated. A lake, at one time 1.5 km across (20 ha) but very shallow, formed in the bowl of Āliapa'akai fed by freshwater springs or possibly seawater seepages (Alexander, 1926 in Maciolek, 1982). When cruising around the Salt Lake/ Moanalua area, I keep forgetting about this shopping center. I think this shopping center is underrated for a lot of reasons but it is definitely a go place for anyone living in the area. There are some pretty key stores and shops down here such as Longs and Safeway. They also have some other popular eating and beveraging places like McDonald's and Coffee Bean. The McDonald's is always poppin' especially during the morning time, both the inside and outside through the drive through is always busy. The parking area is decent but not the most spacious and widest parking spaces in a shopping center plaza area. If you are not familiar with the Salt Lake/Moanalua area this place might be hard to find but for the most part just stick to Salt Lake Blvd. and when you see some shops along the corner. There are also some practicing small businesses around such as dentists, cleaning, salons, etc. which adds more value to the shopping plaza.
