I was excited for Manpasand to be our one stop shop for desi groceries and halal meats but had some poor experiences lately. We have had instances of meats rotting in the freezer within 2 weeks of purchase. It states the packaging date which is the same date we bought so that must mean that the meat itself is old. I'm also not trusting of the quality control for some of the fresh produces that are put out. If you know some practices in the sub-continent, you would know what I am talking about. I had only been to the smaller location down south so was curious to check this out when I was in the area. It was a mixed bag experience - check dates because several items were expired but still on shelves. Their produce wasn't too fresh either. But they did have some specialty items I don't find at the other main Indian grocery store. So if you're seeking something specific and don't find it elsewhere, it's worth a shot to check here. After living in Austin for 7 years, I witnessed how this grocery has gone way down hill in last year. Lack of quality control, poor hygiene and cleanliness makes it unappealing to even walk thru the aisles. The sanitation and cleanliness is so poor I witnessed a big wasp nest right in middle of store where pooja items are stored. I learned this place has recently switched ownership, which makes sense how/why this place is now shambles. Perhaps the new owners only bought it to slow-bleed and kill the business. read more

We went rather late on Sunday. It was slow. The store seemed clean and well stocked. It is a very large ethnic store. We just perused it since we were next door. I would say the only disappointing aspect was that not one employee, including the two that checked us out, spoke to us. No one offered help at all. It's not that different than most large supermarkets. Sometimes you get lucky and someone offers directions, sometimes you don't. I will definitely go back, if I'm in the area. They have a nice little cafe area inside. Although not important to me, they also have a butcher, which I imagine is the halal part of the store. read more

Name of this store needs to be changed to Moth Pasand. Moth larvae found in my rice. Pics Attached. I have shopped at this and other Manpasand stores before and overall been satisfied. Unfortunately this past visit resulted in a moth infestation in my kitchen and after a complete pantry clean out was found to be due to moth larvae found in the rice I purchased here. I contacted the store and spoke with an individual by the name of Zeri. Her reply to me after hearing about the moths was a question of when I purchased the rice. When I told her it had been approximately a month and a half her reply was not any empathy or apology, rather simply that she cannot do anything as they have a 14 day return policy. I then asked to speak to a manager only to be told that there was not one in that day. I was asked to leave my name and number and told that I would receive a call the next day-Monday. I not only left my contact information but also asked if I could send a video taken of my opening the bag (was still new-unopened) and clearly showing the infestation. She provided me with their email of curbsidepickupmp35@gmail.com to which I then sent not one but three separate videos. It is now been 10 days and I have not heard anything. Went grocery shopping yesterday, very disappointed with how the staff talked and behaved. With things that I bought, I had a piece of Jack fruit. There was another customer after me, she pointed out to the cashier that the piece of jack fruit she was about to pay had mold on it. Since I was still there I checked my grocery and that piece also was rotten and molded. So I asked if I can return and get my money back. She said you can't return vegetable or fruits. I asked her what am I supposed to do with this rotten item. And she said sorry. REALLY! She called this male manager who gave me such a hard time to take back this rotten item. He was very rude and harsh, as if it was my fault that this was my fault that their fruit is rotten. Also there were only 1 more customer at the time of checkout. The other lady asked him "why don't they remove rotten item and trash it". He became very furious and told her off as she is not allowed to call food trash. Again REALLY? He told her not to come to the store. Manpanad needs to hire mannered staff. I am pretty sure if this was any other grocery store customers will not be treated this way. I will never be going to Manpasand again. I wish the system had a zero star because that's what their staff deserves read more

This is the worst place to go for food. Please don't waste your time at this location. I order food exactly at 11 before coming to store. They didn't finish with food until 12:45. There was many other costumers waiting for food almost a hour. They all were very disappointed. Unfortunately, Myself and my family members won't be coming here anymore. read more

After having bad experience with expired products at Manpasand on Highway 183, I was very excited that a new location is being opened up closer to where I live. I drove by there several times eagerly waiting for the store to open, only to be disappointed and disgusted after my first visit. I entered at around 8pm and the store was filled with a horribly smell - a mix of rotten produce and meat. Though my immediate reaction was to leave, the curiosity got the better of me. I walked through the aisles to find the floor in the freezer completed wet. Not wet from cleaning, but with a layer of water which can only indicate that the freezer was turned off and water seeped out. I tried to get information from the checkout clerk and she said there was absolutely nothing going on. I'm no grocery store expert, but when the whole store has a rotten smell and the floors are soaking wet near the freezers...one can put two and two together. The practices of this store is very questionable. Not sure if the Manpasand here is associated with the one on hwy 183. Just disappointed and sharing my experience for both the stores on yelp. read more

First time coming to Manpasand in my part of town. Some things I first noticed - lots of parking, huge store, lots of options. I found exactly what I was looking for plus more. They have a large selection of vegetables. They also have a small restaurant in the back. I didn't get any meat from here but it's good to know I have that option. Good selection of beans, nuts and seeds, some organic. Started shopping here more when Wheatsville drastically reduced their bulk secton. Very good prices on quality tea, spices and ayuvedics. OK produce selection. Staff is polite and helpful. Cashier is usually masked, rest of staff not. I've never seen it crowded. Could be cleaner or perhaps better lit. read more

Recently bought Kohinoor brand Basmati Rice, 10lb, within a week noticed pantry insects from the rice. Few weeks ago, bought Gopi brand paneer, cheese, I did not realize it was a repackaged item, showed the lady manger of the shop, comparing it with nice package, but she was not polite and she does not have sense of customer service, then without getting any refund or store credit left it there and walked out of the store. Hi, I normally shop at this stores twice a week, but yesterday Sunday I had a bad experience with expired products and the service on the meat department I can't believe they way they provide the service, this person was very rude I ask question about the meat he was very disrespectful. This incident never happen before I was disappointed after I try to pay the few items and only one register is open a long line of people waiting. Fantastic store! Can't beat the prices for the volume you get on quality spices, I would however agree on the produce part of other reviews definitely check the stuff your buying, I bought mushrooms once and 2 days later in my fridge they were bad, but only slightly but still threw them out, they may have been nearing the end of shelf life and got bad in my fridge, but I do realize this is more of a mom and pop shop setup, they don't just throw away massive amounts of food like Walmart and heb do I imagine they just inspect to see what's good and what's not at least for produce since I'm sure veggies get mixed in with other older veggies, and it would be wasteful to just throw away that much, still five stars for prices and selection, for the size of the store itself pretty good not everything but definitely enough selection to satisfy the majority of folks needing Indian groceries, but again just be mindful and inspect the produce and try to pick the freshest looking stuff just basic produce picking sense :) it was only a one time occasion on less than $2 mushrooms and I shop there about once every two weeks or so and never had any further issues but have seen other produce that looks maybe not as fresh not rotten but not as fresh so again just look at your produce, they even sell bell peppers of every color for $1.69 a lb, most places sell bell peppers each for $1+, I like the store I enjoy shopping there, they even have gloves at the entrance for customers to wear since Covid started, just pick your produce and select meats sensibly and you'll be fine. read more
