Broiled Salmon & Mixed Tempura Bento.
    Tiffany L.

I thought I would update my review from before since it's been a few years and am sad to report that it has gone downhill. I know times may be tough, but yikes! BROILED SALMON & MIXED TEMPURA BENTO BOX: I ordered this to go and it came with a scoop of rice, 4 spicy tuna cut rolls (used to be 6), a small clump of salad, tempura (came without the tempura sauce), miso soup, and the saddest/hardest clump of fried/broiled salmon (came with side of teriyaki sauce). The portion has SIGNIFICANTLY shrunk especially for the salmon. The salmon was basically the size of the sauce dish container...I finished it in 2-3 bites. Due to this, I will sadly not be returning.

The restaurant is located along the side of the street. I was able to find parking on the street right in front of the entrance. Dont miss it by pulling into the market plaza, but im sure you may park there. The place is small and not too busy when i visited. They offer a physical menu with limited selections, along with a QR code on the wall to scan that includes additional dishes. Before we even ordered, they quickly brought out complimentary salad, miso soup, and steamed edamame. What a nice surprise! Uni Rice Bowl was listed as market price but was very reasonably priced . It had about 4-5 pieces of uni, served in a very presentable sea urchin shell. It was light and very good. I can never pass up uni when it's on the menu! We also ordered some rolls, a variety of sushi , and toro sashimi. They do prepare sushi with a lot of rice, but I loved that they generously portion with large pieces of fish along with it. The fish was fresh and were great quality. Oh and free yummy green tea icecream to end our meal too!

Slow service but otherwise good. Parking is very small but doable. Went during lunch and got a lunch box special which includes ice cream. I got the chicken one and it was a bit dry. Side dishes, on the other hand, were absolutely amazing! I'd say this is a decent lunch spot.

I love this place, the woman who works here is so friendly and nice. Me and my family came here for a birthday and they made it really special. The sea urchin bowl is really good and unique. The sushi boat as well. And the lobster seafood hotpot. It is casual but I think because of the staff it is special. Would recommend!

Great quality sushi in a friendly mom and pop restaurant! The restaurant itself is very cozy, limited seating but luckily on a Tuesday evening, there was no wait. Small private parking lot adjacent to the restaurant was convenient! The meal starts with complimentary salad, miso soup, and edamame. These were a nice surprise! We then went on to the fried calamari and baked mussels. Calarami was nice and perfectly crispy with a drizzle of a sweet sauce, it was perfect to share amongst three people. The baked mussels were amazing!! Topped with cheese, a sweet and savory sauce, the mussels were juicy boys and definitely got us excited for our main sushi entrees! We went with the albacore roll, spicy tuna roll, eel sashimi, salmon roe sashimi, dragon roll, and yellow tail sashimi. Initial impressions - great presentation, and came out relatively quick! The sashimi was FRESH, and the perfect amount of rice. I dislike when there's any more than a pinch of rice and Mansun did the portions just right! The salmon roe was a generous portion, and with each bite, they popped heavenly in my mouth. The rolls were meticulously made as well and tasted amazing! For the three of us, I think we did well with the portions and by the end, felt quite satisfied... This is when the waitress offered complimentary ice cream! How could we say no...so we all decided on the green tea ice cream. It wasn't too sweet, and was the story book ending to our meal. They do offer bento box style meals with tempura as lunch and dinner specials as well, so in the future I'd absolutely like to try these out! Overall, highly recommend and will definitely be back. Don't let the unassuming exterior appearance of the plaza dissuade you from giving Mansun a try!

Esther was an amazing server for my friends bday dinner! The food was so good , she was so friendly and funny. Made us feel like family! We had a private room that was great for an intimate bday setting.

I can't believe I've been driving by this place for years without stopping in--what a hidden gem! The food here is absolutely amazing and unbelievably fresh. The fish quality blew me away--so high-grade, so clean-tasting, and not fishy at all. I was genuinely surprised at just how good everything was. I tried the sea urchin bowl, which was insanely fresh and flavorful, and the lunch special teriyaki chicken with tempura--the portions were very generous and satisfying. I also ordered the sushi lunch special, and honestly, the fish quality was mind-blowing. It felt like something you'd expect at a high-end sushi spot, not a casual place you just stumble into. On top of the food, the service was excellent. The owner is so kind and welcoming, and they even give out free ice cream at the end, which was such a nice touch. It really feels good supporting a local small business when the experience is this good. (5/5) -- Fresh, delicious, generous portions, and amazing service. I'll definitely be coming back again and again.

This place was amazing. Our server was very quick and sweet. As teens we normally don't expect such great service but everyone in the restaurant had positive energy and was very efficient. Along with this the food was great.

Ordered to-go around 11:40 a.m. on Sunday. Food came out fast and was nicely packed. Few sea urchin spines were mixed into the rice, which was a little disappointing, but everything else was fine. Side dishes were light and tasty. Regular size was $33 (large $44 with tax). I'll probably go for the large next time--it was better on my last visit.

The food is always so good here! The sashimi is fresh and the uni bowl was soo flavorful and yummy. I came with my boyfriend and the sushi chef was sweet and made us the most adorable swan couple out of an apple. The owner is a nice Korean lady who has the nicest smile. Service is 10/10 and the food is also a 10/10! I highly recommend this place especially if you like uni!

My go to spot for sushi in the Diamond Bar area! In my opinion they have the best combination of quality, price, and service. The owner/lady in charge is super nice and provides great recommendations, and the sides come quickly when you sit down. One of my favorite things about this place is the Banchan they provide since it's Korean owned. The place itself is small and cozy and really never too crowded so you can get seated quickly. Great place for casual dinners as well as celebrations (love their sushi boat, it's a great deal)

The food is fresh and large portion. The service staff is friendly and gave us great recommendation. There were five of us and we have our room.

The food are amazing. And the prices are reasonable. Miso soup is amazing. Highly recommend to come to this restaurant if you around the area

What a unique experience!…read more Grilling, bbq-ing, etc is a norm but steaming your food on the table? Now that's something else! I really enjoyed the dinner I had, they offer lots of options, from freshly made buns, dumplings to fresh seafood. The menu is pretty extensive and they also offer cooked dishes from the kitchen. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They made sure we get the best experience as it was our first time dining at this place. We had the big eye fish as they called it and they steamed it at the other empty table because our buns and dumplings were steaming at the same time to save time. They finish the fish at the kitchen with the hot oil and sauce. We also had the pork and shrimp buns, and beef dumplings. They were delicious! You can make your sauce at the station too and they provide good options. We also got the baby oysters appetizer that was soaking in some sort of light soy sauce marinade. Also got the soft shell crab and you get 3 whole crabs for $10! It was so worth it! The whole restaurant looked clean and inviting. The booths were spacious. I would definitely come back here and try other dishes!

The meat was sweet and tender, and the sauce had a nice balance of savory flavor without overpowering the natural seafood taste. You can tell the quality of the seafood is solid. The sea urchin egg custard was super smooth and silky. The uni added a rich, slightly briny depth that paired really well with the delicate steamed egg. Definitely a standout if you like uni. Each dishes had its own highlight. Ambiance is modern and clean, giving a slightly upscale seafood house vibe. Service was decent and the food came out nicely presented. Prices are on the higher side, but for fresh seafood and quality ingredients, it feels reasonable for a special meal. Would come back again to try more of their live seafood options.

Fortunately, they serve both. We both love siomai, duck, and crispy salted squid so we ordered the trio. The siomai was fresh. Tasted as if it was just off a lunch cart. It's delicious and the serving size is quite generous. The price is unbeatable too. We really enjoyed its balanced taste. Sometimes, siomai can be a bit bland but this was packed with flavor. The Peking Duck was great too. Reminded us of our time in Hong Kong. Less oily but still delicious. The buns were great too. We both enjoyed every bite. The sauce was excellent too. It had sweetness to it from the pineapple sauce. The salted crispy squid is balanced. Salty yet a bit sweet. It's definitely more of the indulgent side of things. Best paired with rice. We skip the carbs that night, but we'll definitely order this again paired with something else. The service here is great. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. It doesn't feel like rushed service. Ambiance here feels like your typical Chinese restaurant. It's clean and you can tell it has aged over time. You're here for the good food though, not the aesthetics. For two people, we ordered steamed chicken feet, shu mai, shrimp rice rolls, ham sui gok (deep fried meat dumplings, and creamy egg yolk buns. Food wise, taste as expected and portion is plenty for two people. It's good enough if you are craving for dim sum locally, and don't have to travel all the way to SGV. Food was fine, but the service needs a lot of work…read more It was our first time coming here, so I had no idea how anything worked. When we first arrived, the front was completely disorganized, and there were no lines at all. People were just crowding around the hostess table, so I had no idea how to add my name to the waitlist. There were no signs that showed where the line starts, and no line was being formed at all. The hostess kept having to walk people to their table, so it was nearly impossible to grab her attention. When I did manage to do so, she was very rude and prioritized other people before us. She obviously saw us come in before other people, but ignored that fact and just added other people to the waitlist first. Ridiculous. Their waitlist system is through Yelp, which sends you a text when your table is ready. Based on the app, it said that our table wouldn't be ready for about 1.5 hours, so we decided to walk around the outlet in the meantime. After nearly 1.5 hours, I saw that we were 2nd in line and decided to have our family walk back to the restaurant. While we were waiting outside for me to receive the text, we heard the host call my name and say that our table was ready. We met with him, and I said that it was odd since I hadn't received the text yet. He said, "Oh no, the hostess told me about you guys. You said that your phone was dead, so you'd hang around the restaurant and wait for us to call your name." No. We never said that. They have us confused with a different party. This means that if I hadn't checked the waitlist regularly and had just waited for that text, it never would've come, and we never would've gotten seated. What a messy system. Also, I've never been to a seafood boil restaurant where we have to ask for the bibs. Normally, they're given to us right when we're seated, so it was weird. We noticed other people were given bibs right when they're seated, so we're not sure why this happened. Other Kickin' Crab locations also give you an entire bottle of ketchup, whereas this place only gives small plastic cups. Weird. I think the employees and other customers would agree with me when I say that the entire place is completely disorganized because multiple orders around us were being messed up. The table to our left was missing its piece of corn and sausage in its bag of shrimp, while the table to our right was missing crawfish in their bag. The workers were obviously trying their best to straighten things out, but it didn't seem to be working. The menu is consistent with their other locations, but the market prices are a bit higher than what we're used to. Compared to the location that we always go to, this place offers bigger frozen crawfish, but the bags were mainly just the claws, so it seemed like a big ripoff. * Cajun Fries: 8/10 - nice cook, but there was only cajun seasoning on the top * Shrimp (Head-On): 9/10 - good flavor * Crawfish (Frozen): 6/10 - big crawfish, but the bag was mostly just claws and not enough garlic The place is located at the Shoppes of Chino Hills outlet, so parking is relatively easy. After being seated, the servers were nice, but it was difficult to enjoy the experience because of everything that had already happened. Overall, the service was a huge letdown, and we did not feel comfortable eating here. Places like this are why tipping is optional. The workers at the Kickin' Crab location we usually go to are way more laidback and friendlier, yet still maintain impeccable service. Would not return.
