I've been to PV a few times and Manatamar is possibly the only and best beach club in the Romantic Zone. As soon as you walk through there's music and a lot of energy. Depending on what time and day you're there, it gets really crowded. If you're looking to relax, I would skip the cabana and get a beach chair instead. Just be aware that if you're on the beach, you'll be approached by vendors almost every 3 minutes. The food menu is available both in the club and the beach. I ordered some sushi rolls and nigiri. I'll be honest, the food isn't anything spectacular. But when you're at a beach club, food isn't the priority (at least for me). One thing that I really like about Mantamar is that you get a designated server throughout your visit (when you reserve a chair or cabana). I had Lisa on this visit and she was great! She checked on my group and I frequently and got us food and drink refills quickly, despite how busy the club is. Overall, a really great place to let loose and party. I had to talk to a manager cause apparently you can't have a cabana by the pool and use the beach chairs too. Even though I'm an actual guest at Almar where beach access is included with my stay, they refused to serve me food and drinks at the beach. "Rules are rules". Every experience has always been great during our visit. Depending on the day and if there's an event, prices are different for beach lounges. As that's what we took advantage of. Weekend was 800 peso and weekday was 500. It was great to be greeted with a familiar face during this visit. Irving, who took care of us during our prior visit remembered us when we walked in. There's always a good amount of lounges offered on the beach. You could also reserve poolside cabana, hot tub or lounges upstairs. I'm here for the beach so beach side was what's up. Just like the last visit a couple months ago, service was great. The cocktails were excellent. Always started with a mimosa to lounge before anything else. Food was always great. We stuck to mainly the seafood dish of ceviche, shrimp aguachile, and octopus served on crispy wonton. Sushi is good but limited to only rolls mainly. They do have a full menu with sandwiches, pasta and salad. Just like every visit, it's t always the seafood and beer that calls our name. The lounges are nice and come with towels and umbrella. They're all lined up as the front tends to be reserved for hotel guest. I believe the pool also is included with your day pass. Plus the beach water is actually nice and swimmable compared to certain parts in Cabo. Service is always good, food was always great and drinks were nice. You apparently can't use their beach chairs if you got a cabana by the pool. I mean you can, but they won't serve you food or drinks. Even if you are already a guest at Almar where beach access is already supposed to be included in your stay. "It's the rule"... so the rule is they don't give you good customer service. My partner and I came here expecting top notch service since there a 25$ usd entrance fee. So far the drinks take forever and my food was terrible with nothing to offer from the waiter. This is one of if not the best beach clubs in zona romantica. The cabanas by the pool are placed perfectly for some sun and no sun. It's a cool vibe with good music and a d.j. spinning just the right beats. Our waiter, Ramon was amazing! Drinks were always excellent and never empty. Do not be discouraged thinking that sushi at a beach club isn't good because the sushi is incredible. All of the food is wonderful. Good food, great service and eye candy for days! We have been owners of Almar for almost a decade. We have seen the property grow over the years in size and offerings. Over the last several years the prices especially in the bar at Mantamar have become far beyond normal for any other beach club in the Zona Romantica. In addition to the prices, the current bartenders are playing a game of hide the house brands and pushing the premium liquors as the only option. I can deal with price increases, but intentionally pushing higher cost drinks is gross and disgusting. This is something the family (ownership) should look into and ensure the staff is acting in their best interest. read more

I would NEVER ever stay at this hotel, and I feel very badly for all of the great guys who waste their money on this outdated place. Don't spend your money on this POS hotel. If you want to get a cabana or a day pass somewhere, then there are much much nicer resorts in PV and Punta de Mita where you can do so for less (Mantamar is so overpriced). There are such beautiful places to stay at in PV with incredible rooftop pools and amazing service and staff. I recommend Pier 57. I had some good sushi at this place and some of the wait staff are great and super friendly, but the management sucks. They put away chairs before the sun sets so that guests can't even enjoy the sunset. Mostly, I find the management super inhospitable and terrible at public relations, and the place seems super outdated. So many really nice and new Airbnb's in PV, and most nice restaurants at the beach have chairs and umbrellas for less, great service, and no ass hole security staff who give you a hard time for having friends come say hi (who are buying drinks and food). read more

This place is hip and has it going on. If you don't have a reservation, you only get access to the bar area. They have a pool area upstairs and also chairs on the beach. The service staff was friendly and everyone spoke at least some English to make it easier. The service time was a bit slow however they were crowded. The drinks we had tasted avererage for the area and were served in plastic cups. If you are looking for a place with a crowd look no further. They got it all! 3 stars only because my friend and I couldn't get the full experience (pools were under renovation) and the food was a quite expensive (I think I remember it being over $15 USD or something ridiculous for chips and guac) Other than that, the service was awesome and everyone was super friendly! My friend and I had our luggage because our flight was in a few hours and they were kind enough to store it away for us while we were on the beach. We got two beach chairs with towels and had an awesome server and were around really fun people (also traveling to PV for the first time) Food was expensive for what it was but I'm ok with it since I don't get to eat on the beach in the states. Got the guac which was good and a huge portion. The ceviche was OK but not my favorite! Passion fruit marg, I could've gone without. I'd definitely give this place another shot! read more

We came here everyday when staying at the Almar resort for our 10 day vacation. The food and service was great. You get to lounge all day by the beach and have service at your fingertips. Although the drinks were average, I did like that they had a great variety of food (sushi, ceviche, burgers, nachos etc) My favorite waiter was Xilo, he recommended the perfect drinks when we were too hungover to drink anymore. The staff go above and beyond getting you an extra towel or umbrella should you need it. This place has pool, hot tubs, cabanas and the perfect dj to get you in the party mood. Man, there are some HARSH reviewers on here. I thought that this place was great. My friend and I stayed at Almar, came down at least twice daily to the pool... the swim-up bar is amazing. The hot tubs were fun. Granted, it was White Party weekend, but the men were gorgeous and fun too. Just a great experience all around. Four stars instead of five because, perhaps the weak link in the chain, the bartenders here were really stoic and all-business, expressionless and without really and personality put out there, compared to Almar and other places we spent time, where people were engaging and personable. Yep... this is my Happy Place. I've now been to Mantamar four times, and it's been fantastic each time. Things might not be 100% smooth, but that's sort of been my experience everywhere in PV. I say roll with the punches. This time we did a cabana. They gave it to us for free so long as we agree to spend 1000 pesos each during the day. Considering that's something like $50, we figured it was a no brainer. After a very full day of drinking and eating we ended up spending about double that, but for a space this great, that was fine by me. Fantastic music. A great beach. Always fun - and pretty - people. I've always had friendly service. For specifics: I really liked my baja fish tacos, but less so my shrimp tostada. The tequila was tasting off to me (weird for Mexico) but other mixed drinks were great. And you can't eff up shots and beers, right? Every time I've been there, the guy running the show was a handsome man named Angel. He's fantastic. Super friendly and accommodating, and works the room in a way that shows he really cares about the general vibe. Someday I may check out the other gay-centric beach areas, but really... Mantamar is 100% my speed and I know that I'll be back soon. read more

Due to a horrible experience last year, I was dead set on not coming back, but it was our last day here so I bit the bullet. Mmm, that bullet tasted good! While we got a cabana on the beach again, this time I utilized the pool for most of the time. It was such a fun place to hang out in and drink beer. So much so that I forgot to eat lunch that day, lol! The bar has swim-up service, the bathrooms were close and the place wasn't overly crowded. Mantamar is a true beach club. You decide if you want to pay for a lounge chair or cabana. The lounge chair is 500 peso per person and the cabanas are 1500 peso per person. The prices for the cabanas go up to 5000 on the weekends. You also get a price break if you stay at their resort or have a membership. With entrance fee you get a large beach towel and full access to the facilities (lockers, showers, bathrooms, restaurant, bar, hot tubs, and pool). The facilities are new and well maintained. The chairs sit in he sand and overlook the ocean. Beautiful view! The beach is clean and not busy. The only downside to getting a chair is you will have many locals come up and try to sell you stuff. All you have to say is no thank you and they will leave. A server will come around and offer you drinks and food. I would recommend getting a menu so you can see their full selection of items. You will be given a wrist band so all your drinks and food will be applied to the same tab. The drinks are creative and delicious. I found the classic margaritas to have the most alcohol, where the other drinks were good, but only had one shot per drink. The food was actually outstanding! Both days I had the sushi which was well prepared, well presented, and reasonably priced. I spend most of the time in the pool. The infinity pool offers many seats along the outer edges, a swim up bar, and hot tubs. The water was a perfect temperature for lounging. The lockers were close by so getting more sun screen was easy. The music was lounge/club music. It was the perfect volume as you could still hold a conversation and have fun. It tends to get busier around 2pm, but in October I never saw it packed. I would imagine during events and gay cruise days it can get busy! When you leave you will be provided the receipt. Check over your receipt to ensure they didn't add an extra drink (both days it was accurate for me). Then calculate the tip before handing over your card. The server will ask you how much tip you want to give or ask for a % so if you haven't predefined you will have to figure it out on the spot. I personally wouldn't tip on the charge for the cabana or the chair. I highly recommend Mantamar! read more

High prices but the experience can't be beat. We shared a cabana and ordered food and drinks. Some of us got massages too. Everyone there was there to have a good time. The pool was clean. The drinks came fast and the food was good. Service was friendly. Alcoholic drinks are strong. Beach access was very nice. As a woman, the bathroom was not great (toilet wouldn't flush), also there was no soap or paper towels all day. Makes sure everybody is having a great time and runs a tight ship at the bar, doing exactly what he can do with the ingredients that management has provided. ZERO stars. Hands down the WORST I've ever had. Icy and cubes of ice not dissolved. No fresh ingredients either. I have to take my own fresh fruit and demand they use them. Come on management. Really fun place for LGBT clients. The experience was a tiny bit marred by a billing dispute after a day of being there. I had been ordering doubles for the start of the beach day, and tapered off to singles. The issue is that the bill kept the doubles. The staff didn't seem to understand the issue once brought up, so I paid the extra 20% to my bill since it's vacation and I didn't want to deal with a dispute. I'd recommend ensuring that you close out your bill each time, or ask for confirmation of what you were just billed, and the price after each order. read more

Mantamar is a beautiful gay focused beach club at the end of Los Muertos Beach. They have a large infinity pool with attached hot tubs surrounded by cabanas, a smaller glass dipping pool on the upper balcony, a private lounging deck with private hot tubs, and several comfortable loungers on the beach. Full food and bar service are offered all day. Staff are friendly and usually prompt with service. Prices are a bit high for the area, but on par with all the private amenities they offer. Absolutely stellar way to spend a day! read more
