Mantra is a great wine tasting room in downtown Novato. A girlfriend brought me here a few years ago and we've gone back several times to enjoy a glass of bubbles. Their prices are reasonable and their champagne is fantastic. Over the summer I had a wine slushee that was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy. There is plenty of seating and also a few rooms off to the side where you can also sit and enjoy your drink. It's nice to sit outside when the weather is warm. Sometimes there is live music which is a treat. They offer food from Finnegan's which is a couple doors down. The service is always friendly. read more

While it's true that I wouldn't leave the comforts of my (Ross Valley) home to go get a glass of wine at Mantra it's equally true that their offering is quite enticing if you're in the area. And if they have a live band, as they do quite frequently? Okay, I'll leave my home and head north. Mantra Wines is a great place to experience live music. The high ceilings and roomy space attract a nice crowd. The wine offered (they have beer also) is decent though you might need to try a few samples before settling on one you like. And though they personally sell no food they have an arrangement with their neighbor, Finnegan's, allowing you to have Finnegan's food delivered to you in Mantra. This is a win-win for everyone. I had a vision for what sort of a wine bar I'd find in Novato. Happily, Mantra Wines didn't fit that vision; it was better in all regards. Fun crowd, great music (check their on-line calendar), nice space.. there's not much you won't enjoy here. read more

What a cute little winery location which is located in the heart of downtown Novato. Just with the right sized seating arrangement inside the establishment. When we walked in a man greeted us behind the counter and there are plenty of bottles of wine right by the counter. To the left of us, there's a list of wine by the glass for purchase and sample flights. The wines range from blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, barbera, Cinsault, just to name a few in the reds. there are also sparkling, Cava and rosé. in the whites, there are Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. They offer two different flights one at $30 which is tasting of four reds glasses second one is at $15 consisting of three glasses, one which is rosé and the second one is a cuve and also sparkling cava. These are all very tasty, and makes it very difficult to choose which bottles I would take back to my home state. Also live music night fun entertainment. Sweet fun times spent tasting and listening to music at this cute tasting room. I decided to bring back four bottles of wine. Will definitely come back to visit real soon in the future. read more

After enjoying Mantra Winery for years, we spent a really lovely early NYE there listening to a great regular, Eric Haley(?), who offered up Contemporary and N'Orleans Jazz. Had dinner brought from Finnegans next door; made some new friends; chatted up Hillary, one of Mantra's friendly and vivacious staff members; and even got some dancing in before the music ended. We love to come here to relax with a beautiful pink bubbly. I brought my step mom with me one afternoon, and the wait person was so much fun! He joked with us, brought us a beautiful charcuterie board, and told us a few stories about the bar and its patrons. We had a lovely visit, and my step mom was very impressed, which was important. I have never struggled this much when it comes to giving a rating. If I was basing this on my first 10 minutes-it would get 5 stars. Loved the ambience, and in the beginning our server was super helpful and attentive. Sadly, shortly after 10 minutes is when it all when down hill. She brought us a drink, and walked away. Shortly after that a gentlemen dining alone sat down behind us. She seemed like a giddy teenage girl, and directed all of her attention to him, and none to anyone else. We were there for over an hour she never once came over to us and asked us how things were going. My husband and I didn't even know how to pay as nothing had been communicated to us on how things worked. Thankfully, another person came in, who told us we needed to pay at the counter. I realize that with COVID some places are trying to limit interaction, but we were sitting across from her, so she still could have told us how things worked, and asked if we wanted anything else. Finally when we were paying the lady that happened been helping us initially finally asked how things were. We did feel slightly better about the whole experience when leaving, I almost thought of changing my rating to 4 stars, but given that we felt ignored for over an hour, I am sticking with the 3 star rating. read more

Zero stars. My wife and I walked into Mantra, hoping for a nice tasting and then a glass of wine. It was a Saturday night, 40 min before closing time and we had the whole place to ourselves. "We would like to take a tasting flight and find a flavor we enjoy so we can sit and relax in the neat layout of the tasting room." The hostess was kind but knew absolutely nothing about the wines, so there were no stories or fun banter, at all. We decided we loved their Sauvignon Blanc and liked their cab. After the tasting I asked for 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc and one bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc to drink now. She stated that that was great and would be right back. I long while later she informed us that they were out of Sauvignon Blanc but that they had an open bottle of it and could sell that. I let her know how upset I was as I loved the wine and she charged me for the taste, but didn't have a bottle to sell me. I WAS PISSED. We settled on 2 bottles of Mantra Cabernet Sauvignon. I was beside myself when the bill came back to me, 2 bottles of cab and two wine tastings from an unknown wine bar in downtown Novato $137.84. Needless to say, we won't be back and we certainly will never recommend this establishment. read more

We hosted a retirement party for a colleague and could not have chosen a better venue. Not only is the staff helpful, friendly and attentive, but their wine is absolutely delicious. Their menu caters to everyone's different tastes. The vibe is posh-eclectic comfort. Drenched in natural light and plenty of room to mingle and comfortable seating throughout. Mantra Wines is delightful. The downtown location is great and the space exceeded our expectations. Don't let the online photos fool you, it's not a cavernous space devoid of any personality. It's actually quite cozy, and there are many comfortable seating areas set apart perfect for small groups. There are also two very private areas for larger groups. It was a pleasant atmosphere; we brought our dog, and everyone who came through the door stopped to pet her and say hello. Not pretentious at all. Ok, and now the most important part: The wine. We found all of the various Cabs to be really solid. In particular, I also really enjoyed the 2014 Mantra Old Vines Zinfandel Reserve. At their price point, we found all of the wines competitive with any other you will find in Sonoma. Cute venue that is warm, inviting, and cozy. The staff who work there are very nice. Wine is OK, not my favorite. Food, like the charcuterie platter, comes from Finnegan's next door. What a cool gig! It would be appreciated if the staff paid better attention to people drinking (the party I was with was accumulating a lot of empty wine glasses on the table, cramping our space), and provided a more efficient upkeep of the facilities (the bathroom was out of toilet seat covers and toilet paper). The staff did not seem as knowledgable about the wines they had, so we did not stay long. They have some semi-private sitting areas, which reminds me a little of bottle services. Our new Wine Tasting room in Novato is Devine! It's located right in the Old Town section of Grant & Machin Avenues. It has the nicest atmosphere, with many different areas to choose from. The first time we visited, the staff told us to go ahead and seat ourselves, they would come to us - nice! A gentleman soon came over, one of the owners, Mike Kuimelis. The wines are all exceptional, it's hard to pick a favorite. The price for a tasting is very reasonable, $10 for tasting of four, with generous pours. There are other options as well. We asked Mike about the beautiful wood tables and accent pieces, he said he made them himself! He was always checking on us, it was lovely. They serve Charcuterie and tasty dishes, that complement the wines. The Charcuterie had very generous portions, as well. It's already a local favorite, you'll run into your friends. read more

Zero customer service. We walked in here after a hike around the middle of the day Saturday to sit down for some wine. Bar tender was chatting with two ladies sitting at the counter. After standing for two minutes in front of her in full view-- with zero acknowledgment of our presence -- we walked out. My suggestion: if you want to get profiled or disrespected, swing on by Mantra Wines. If you want customer service go anywhere else on Grant Ave. No other restaurant had trouble seating us right away. read more

This is a really nice place to go on a Saturday night to listen to some music and sip some wine! I had always wanted to try this wine bar and we got our opportunity a couple weeks ago when our Philadelphia Eagles were set to play the Super Bowl the next day and our nerves were shot. After eating dinner at another restaurant, we walked down to this wine bar and sat down in a very festively decorated room. I love the vibe in here. They had a one-man band and he was excellent, singing everything from Tom Petty to the Rolling Stones to the Beatles. Absolutely beautiful artwork was on the walls. Though the prices were a little high for Novato, don't let that deter you. They get really busy and they may not pay as much attention to you as you expect, but this is small business and I am happy to patronize it. Can't wait to join the wine club! read more

One of the best things to open in Downtown Novato in the past few years. Great outdoor patio that is nicely decorated and includes outdoor heaters and umbrellas. The wine is excellent and includes; red, white, sparkling, and wine slurpies for hot days. They have wine bar style small plates provided by the restaurant next door. I really appreciated that during the serious covid lockdown when everything was closed they put up their red outdoor umbrellas and reminded me of the good times, made the town look alive, and put a smile on my face, very classy. read more
