Mantra is a fun community gathering place in the center of Novato. A variety of musicians play several nights a week, and it is a quite a lively scene on the week-ends. The wait staff are all exceptionally helpful and hospitable; Denise is especially kind and generous. You will often encounter the owner Mike, who seems to enjoy chatting with his guests. With comfortable and welcoming seating areas, you can either sit with other friendly customers or get a little alcove all to yourself. And the reasonably priced wine is good too! read more

Fellow Novatians - how has Mantra not been reviewed yet? Mantra Wines is a great addition to the Novato downtown "scene" - combining both an entertaining venue as well as a great selection of wine. OK, so what do you get? - A great renovated space with plenty of "private-ish" rooms for large groups (we've had over a dozen in one of them) as well as open seating for smaller groups. Lots of reclaimed wood, and comfortable seating. A shuffleboard table. - Over a dozen varietals to choose from, everything from their take on bubbles (very good), they're heavy on Cabs, a good syrah, chard and I think what is their standout - an Alexander Valley Merlot (for you Sideways snobs - get over yourselves, it's good). - WiFi Access: great for Work From Days ;) - Super Friendly Staff - You can get cheese and charcuterie (compliments of a special deal with Finnegans). - For me, it's bike distance from home! The only con I can see is there is only one uni-sex bathroom - during a busy weekend, a line can form. Keep on doing right Mantra - I'm a fan! read more

Had a fabulous day with my Special Angle Katrina. This is our first time at Mantra had a nice flight of wine our favorite was the Zinfandel. We purchased a bottle to enjoy later. Hey the weekend is still young. We plan to Mantra wine tasting room. read more

I would like to be able to review this business, but every time we try to go there, they have been closed for a special event. My advice is to call first! Don't assume they will be open on a Saturday. read more

These are some STRONG wines! I could really smell the alcohol....Whew! Could only enjoy a glass and thought I was going to fall over. I head the whites were good but didn't try them yet. This place is very cute though and I love it! Rachel is very sweet and we had a lovely time! You can even bring in food from finnegans next door. What a great place and much needed in novato! Finally! Novato has a nice and friendly downtown location to sip good wine, listen to music and just relax. After a few visits there, I joined the Mantra wine club and it has been great to have a "go to" place to take family, friends and even host book club at. Last weekend, I hosted a bridal shower for my daughter and worked with Denise to arrange food, beverages and decorate the back area. She met with me on several occasions to ensure all went smoothly. Thank you, Denise and Hillary for what my daughter described as the "Perfect" shower at the "Perfect" venue several times. read more

The wine is decent. Nothing great though. Not crazy about the tasting format. You only get 3 tastes - nearly every other winery I've been at offer 4 or 5 tastes and also have better wine. For Novato Mantra is a decent tasting room. Better than Trek Winery but several steps below premium Napa and Sonoma tasting rooms. read more

MANTRAAA! This place is as good as it gets in Novato. Great people working behind the counter and a wonderful wine selection. We got a bottle of the Mantra Zin and a chardonnay (I forget which but it tasted like the feeling of sipping on honeydews on a white sandy beach). Both wines were a hit. Decor is warm and cozy with a couple alcoves where you can sip your wine away and vent at the kids playing shuffleboard. Oh, did I mention shuffleboard? One of the workers overheard my group talking about playing and mentioned that he could relocate the kids playing. We took him up on his offer and in under 30 seconds we were blasting off. Just one example of their great customer service. All of the glasses were dust and lipstick free which I am ultra particular about so way to go polisher! Generally have had good experiences here but took a colleague who was retiring in for drinks on an early Friday afternoon. Once we were seated in one of the side rooms, we were asked to move to make room for a birthday party. I think this could have been handled a bit more tactfully. Kind of undermined a special gesture I was trying to create for a colleague. I won't be back. read more

My new Mantra is.......Mantra !!!! And why not? I don't know.....it's got about everything ANYONE would want. 1. Wine lovers: wine, check 2. Vintage game lovers who like to stop staring at a screen everyone in a while: shuffleboard and chess as well as board games, (something for the geniuses and the not so geniuses) , check 3. Joanna and Chip Gaines fans: reclaimed wood everywhere., and homemade furniture, check 4. Chit Chatters: a staff who is friendly and approachable, check 5. The person with a sweet tooth: a great candy/ice cream store next door for you grab something SWEET on the way home. This place is a must visit. Only Cons are: Hours. I wish Sat. And Sunday's they opened before 1pm and stayed open past 7 on Sundays. And prices are a little pricey. read more

This place was MADE for the moms of Novato. I mean, I'm happy for them, but I feel like I'm about ten years too young and childless to fully appreciate Mantra. You can do a wine flight or just get a glass up at the front, and then go find a spot to sit and chat. I think you can have food ordered from Finnegan's next door and brought over if you get hungry. If you are a single guy in your 40s...this would be a good spot for you to hang out and meet people. Just sayin'...statistically speaking, the odds are in your favor. read more

If you have not had the chance to drink their amazing wine, sip and laugh with awesome friends or just want to do nothing but have a glass of wine in "Your Happy Place" this is it. The Staff 2nd to none.... Try it !! Its pretty amazing. Some of the negative said things about the rudeness I find hard to believe, but then again some people take things differently. Rest assured the staff is far from rude. Love the music vibe also. It seems Grant Ave has been given a breath of fresh air and the other businesses have taken notice and stepped up there game. I walked into this place and stood near the bar for ten minutes only to be ignored. Maybe it was because I was wearing a Dodgers hat or maybe because of my brown skin, or maybe a combination of the two. What a shame, guess my money wasn't good enough for them. What a lovely little place. These folks We go to once a month to have a sit down glass of wine with each other or if our kids are with us, they have ice cream from next door and sit in the patio with us when we have a glass of wine. They are freaking amazing. read more

Small place with plenty of seating options. Only one person working the tasting bar on a Saturday. I got a smile and a hello, that's it. No real interaction, with one person sitting at the tasting bar and 3 ladies at a table, so I expected more interaction. I glanced at the taste menu and left. They get a 3 star for the ambience and comfortable setting, and 0 stars for service. Maybe the pourer was having a bad day. read more

Mantra Wines is a boon to Novato! This is a beautiful space with a welcoming atmosphere right in the heart of downtown. Just what we needed! The best part is that the wines are really good! I have enjoyed two lovely experiences here and just joined their wine club. This is a true family business with employees who really care. Even though their closing time is 9:00 during the week, they do not rush you out. (Shocking for Novato!) They seem to be happy to stay open as long as customers are enjoying their wines and their space. I will be a regular visitor here for sure. Well done, Mantra Wines! P.S. Great rose on a hot day. Impeccable attention to detail with high ceiling ex-bank decorating to work with. Well done. Couches, swanky cubby holes with interior design in mind. You can't go without the corned beef sliders. I wish I could invade you with a Vulcan mind meld, they are that good. Brought from Finnigan's Irish restaurant next door, exclusively made for Mantra... We were misplaced from the Sonoma area wildfires. Found this place while on our "vacation". Wonderful place to go, owner and his wife were great last night. Good wines and a very relaxing place. We all had a great time, and we're made welcome by them. I would highly recommend them if you want to stay out of the traffic of San Francisco, but relax at a nice spot. read more

Very inviting atmosphere. Staff is very warm and friendly. Wine is good. Finding myself liking the Mobius Cabernet, and their Red Blends are amazing. Loved the wines and the live music! We had the $15 sparkling, zinfandel, and cabernet sauvignon wine sampler. All three were delicious! The guitarist/singer enhanced our experience. We were members here for a while and loved coming when they first opened...then they switched up their member benefits and we came in for an evening of tasting (as known members) bought a couple bottles of wine and we were then charged for glasses we got because "they weren't on the member list for included glasses, they were exclusive wines". We ended up being charged 12-15 a glass. When asked about it the ladies said there was nothing they could do and punched our member tasting card for the month for tastings we paid for. We thought we would give it another try but on multiple follow up visits we were treated poorly, stood at the bar waiting our turn only to have older people behind us helped first, and have ourselves and our guests from out of town be treated with rudeness from Denise on multiple occasions. We cancelled our membership and won't be back. (When canceling we were not even asked why or if there was any issue, seemed like they were just happy to have one less member to deal with) Cool atmosphere and something novato really needs, they have good wine but seem to have lost the emphasis on customer service as they have grown over the last couple years. read more

Way to go Novato! You have another premier tasting room. Life is great here. If you are looking for a great tasting room for date night, girls night out or a special event....Mantra Wines is where it is at! The tasting room is beautiful. You can sit down and lounge in their special little alcoves or just take a seat at a slab of redwood and hang with your friends. I walked in on a Thursday (to restock my cellar) and the place was so much fun. Hilary made me feel right at home as if I were in my own living room in Sonoma County! The wines are outstanding. If you are on your way to Wine Country, you must take a pit stop and pull off the ever-busy 101. You will not regret stopping by. Not only do the wines have numerous awards but they are quite approachable in palate as well as price. The next time I grill a side of beef, I will definitely pair it with the 2015 Mobius Cabernet. The 2013 Mantra Old Vine Zin was quite pleasing paired with my favorite Humboldt Fog Cheese. Love this place. read more
