My kids love this place. They have an all you can eat salad, taco and burrito bar. GREAT VALUE!!!! I love their Chili Verde over Mexican rice... fried ice cream is good (not great). They have homemade tortillas and coke products. Bathrooms are never super clean or clean at all. Right off Main Street in Clearfield, however it's not in a real safe location. It is a challenge to find a restaurant that serves posole. Manuel's not only has it on the menu, but it is the best posole I have had since moving from New Mexico. If you're nit a posole guy, do the right thing and order the #5. read more

The lunch buffet left me stuffed, but honestly it was pretty average. Chips and salsa were good. I brought home a carne asada burrito to my wife and it was very dry. The food was very good and well presented. My wife's taco was vegan style and she said she has had better. My enchiladas were very tasty and the tamale was good as well, though a little dry. The service left a lot to be desired. Our server was not very interested in serving us and had to be reminded to refill the chips and never returned to check on our satisfaction. I've never had this bad of service. Came here with my family, and was served by an older lady with long black hair. She didn't wear a name tag so I unfortunately cannot call her out by name. We ordered, got our drinks, and everything was okay until that point. I wanted 2 smothered burritos and she INSISTED I get the buffet because it's "cheaper." I don't think it was unless a single burrito is 5$, then in that case, yikes. Not to mention I am pregnant so I am not supposed to eat buffets but I gave up trying to argue and just said whatever. When she came back with our food, 3 out of 5 plates were wrong. They had corn tortillas when we specifically asked for flour. Her response was "Are you SURE none of you want corn? I have to pay this out of pocket." There's a reason we asked for flour, obviously corn is not okay. We did not want to hear her complain about messing up our order and her having to pay for it multiple times and try to guilt us into eating the wrong food due to her mistake. Double check before you send the order in next time! She practically threw my moms food down on the table, and when she did, my food ended up all over me. I planned on feeding my son, but I appreciate you trying to feed him by dumping it all over me and not apologizing. When I looked up, her hand was out and she was glaring and snapped saying "I'm waiting for your trash!" As if I had mind read abilities or something. After she said that, she walked away. Okay. Don't take the trash. Ugh. Already I'm annoyed. She brings the food back correctly, and we waited for awhile for drink refills because she had forgotten a couple times. She brought back an iced tea for my dad which didn't taste right, and when my dad tried to ask for another, she said "No that's tea, I just filled it up right over there." And walked off. Seriously? How unprofessional! Just refill the god damn drink! If it's "okay" to you, maybe taste it yourself and tell us why you deemed it acceptable to not just give us a new glass. When we tried asking for a cup of water instead, she asked about 4 times "are you sure? This one is tea." And that's when I she could tell we were all obviously very annoyed so she said "I can fill it up in the back?" NO. WATER PLEASE! I felt like we weren't heard here, and the service was continuously horrible throughout the entire dinner. Despite my begging, my dad still left her a tip, bless him. If we ever come back, I'll make sure we don't have her as a waitress. She needs to find a new job. She is not a good fit here. read more

I don't mean she didn't visit our table often (which was also true, but we'll forgive that since everyone is short staffed), she cleared our table while we were at the buffet (we hadn't paid yet) . And the lady at the buffet was complaining because she wanted to close at 8:30 and was running out of food.... The restaurant closes at 9:30. Another successful pandemic, curbside pick up. We're trying to get Manuel's take out once a week to support an outstanding local Mexican food gem. My dad has been eating here for nearly 40 years, starting with co-workers for a delicious lunch at a great price. He got to know Manuel Sr. and then Manuel Jr. and many of the servers. The family and staff are welcoming, eager to create positive experiences, and, most of all, deliver the best Mexican food in Utah. The cheese enchiladas on flour tortillas and chili rellenos are family favorites. The chips and salsa are lovely, some spice but not much. I've been disappointed by the fish tacos, served with lettuce not cabbage and bland tartar sauce. Also the tamales are a little dry, being more corn masa than yummy shredded pork. However, all is forgiven when it comes to the chili verde...a family recipe handed down for generations. The pork is tender, the seasoning a perfect balance of zippy and flavorful...no gristle, nothing but chili heaven. When I was in the Peace Corps, I hung a Manuel's El Burrito tee-shirt on the wall to remind me that I would, one day, return to enjoy the chili verde!! I'd like to give a shout-out to Manuel Jr, his family, and staff. This is the friendliest group of folks you could hope to meet. The food is delicious, but more importantly, Manuel's El Burrito is a precious resource in our community. Okay, that's a little over-the-top, but...damn...I love that chili verde. I'm sad because my waitress was just the cutest sweetest thing ever. The only reason it's getting the second star. Ordered chicken fajitas. Was served what looked like a half order. The waitress was so embarrassed that she comped my drink. Got about half way through the fajitas and realized the chicken had a funny texture. Cut into the last piece and the chicken was 85% raw. We didn't get the buffet this time but we did look it over after we had ordered. The buffet looked fresh and appetizing. Food arrived quickly and everything we had was delicious! Came here with family several months ago and everything was pretty good. We ate in the early evening and even had their weak margaritas. This is Utah, so I understand drinks aren't strong. Took my friend, who was visiting from California, here a few days ago for lunch. We decided to split the chicken and steak fajitas. Mostly green pepper and onion. Barely any meat and it was cut up so small we had to dig to find it. Our waiter was a real sour puss. Never smiled! We had a margarita.....yuck! It was warm and ice melted fast. I love the enchiladas here! My husband and I came here for dinner on a friday, it was on the busy side. We were seated immediately and our server came by with chips and salsa pretty fast. The chips and salsa are so yummy! We ordered some beers and she brought us water. We gave our dinner orders and those came out very quick. Unfortunately, we never recieved our beers. No big deal, she apologized and took them off our bill. My husband got some shrimp tacos and he devoured them. We also ordered the queso dip. It was also awesome! We didnt finish so we got to take the queso and my enchiladas home and even reheated everything was still amazing! read more

I felt the need to update after giving them another chance on 7/22/16: We'd been there twice before, and the food was so-so, though the service was not good. Tonight my tostada tortilla was soaked through and slimey on one side, tough on the other. My taco shell was so tough I couldn't bite through it. And who has combination plates with NO BEANS AND RICE? I ended up scraping everything off my tostada (not an easy task since the tortilla was squishy and kept coming with it), to eat with cold chips. WORSE WAS THE SERVICE. No silverware, and the waiter walked off after we asked for some when he set our plates down. Apparently he had heard us, because he did bring Forks. WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN. Well, that's not entirely true, since he took the occasional order from nearby tables (there were maybe 6 other diners in the entire place, so he wasn't overburdened). No refills, and we had to hunt someone down to get our check. The cashier had disappeared, and I had to wait, standing at the counter, several minutes after I finally rang their little bell. Finally our waiter showed up to take my money. I felt robbed when I forked over nearly $40 for food none of us could eat. Well, this was their 3rd chance - we will NEVER go back, and my review will be everywhere by the end of the evening. ============ PRIOR REVIEW (truly it has gone from bad to intolerable): The food here is not too bad, but the service is definitely lacking. Twice we have waited more than 10 minutes at our table before anyone thought to stop by to see if we would like to eat, or were just hanging out. I ordered one of their "special" $2.99 margaritas, only to discover they don't contain tequila. When I said I wanted the real deal, the waiter asked for my ID. I am 51 years old, and have earned every grey hair on my head. I hadn't brought my purse in with me, so I wasn't served a real margarita. They are also pretty good at mixing your orders up. But our last visit the food had no flavor, we didn't get offered to try something else from our waitress and when the host cashed us out and asked us how our visit was we told her we wasted our money and didn't enjoy our food at all.
