Nice place, nice people, nice food. Although it's on a major state highway, this has the feel of a local place, the type of diner where the staff knows the regulars, no pretense, nothing modernized. And they call it Taylor Ham! Bonus points right there. I wanted to cover several food groups with my meal. I had my partner's cream of turkey soup, and I can say it's really just turkey and rice soup. So that was disappointing, I was hoping for something a little more... cream based. It felt stocky. I also got special banana walnut pancakes, no butter (just not my vibe). Unlike some places, they listened! And I spread some jelly and enjoyed my meal. A nice amount of fruit and nuts scattered throught the batter. The over-medium eggs came out pretty much exactly as ordered. Water and refill came without ice as asked. I checked out the dessert bar, but everything looked rather on the small side. Verdict: Classic diner experience, if you're into sandwiches, breakfasts, or the standard list of apps and "specials". Nice place, nice service, and not much else to compete in the Whitehouse area at a reasonable price point. If you're hungry and you don't want to eat among a million people in a place like Somerville or Flemington or Clinton, here you go. read more

This diner has definitely changed under the current management, and not for the better. Our experience was far from satisfying due to misinformation. When we wanted the owner to contact us to share our concerns, it became obvious that our opinions were not going to matter. As a result, they lost out on complete meals. Way out on Route 22, is this classic NJ diner, featuring a lot of well polished chrome outside and inside. Interior is spotless and well decorated. Service was friendly and checked in often. We had the homemade onion rings (excellent, battered and with breadcrumbs, perfectly crisp; chicken noodle soup (well seasoned broth, shell noodles); matzo ball soup (very good); incredible eggplant sandwich (crisp eggplant, ample peppers, well cheesed, fresh and crispy toasted hoagie roll). My wife had the meatloaf Parmesan sandwich (also delicious). Fries were crispy. Excellent diner. Looking forward to trying breakfast at our next visit. Lots of parking. Unfortunately, I can't consciously recommend this diner due to my personal experience. I'll start with the good, the location is spacious with ample parking and service is friendly. However, it's a little slow and whilst on a highway not necessarily convenient. In addition, it's looks old and pretty unkept. As for the food, it seems like a hit or miss. My friend ordered a ham and egg cheese sandwich which he claimed was tasty, i however order a plain stack of pancakes and a side of crispy bacon, while the bacon was great, the pancakes tasted like sand. They were pretty inedible, and for a diner this is kind of their staple so I was pretty disappointed. Overall, I won't return or say I can recommend unfortunately. read more

Came here for lunch after searching for a diner in the area. My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the very affordable price. I had a lunch special with an omelet. It came with home fries, soup, toast, and dessert. It was only $14.50. My daughter had personal cheese pizza, and fries. They were excellent. Tiffany was our server. She was very friendly and attentive. The entire restaurant is old. Because of that the bathroom is really small and old, and the booths are tight. The spinning wheel and pond outside are very nice. I went with tomato, and he ordered French onion for a slight up charge. His salad was the grilled Cajun chicken salad. He really liked the flavoring and the moistness of the chicken. I ordered the tuna salad platter. It came with a healthy scoop of tuna salad, potato salad, and coleslaw with vegetables around the sides and underneath. The tuna was delicious. The coleslaw was creamy and yummy. The potato salad was not what I was used to (no mayonnaise, not German), but I still liked its sweet flavor. Service was super fast. The inside is clean. This diner is a great option for the area. The interior is very retro, which usually means gross and sticky to me, but not for this place. Everything was very clean and bright. There was a mix of travelers and senior locals at the time we visited. Our waitress was very competent and friendly. I had a BLT with a substitution of curly fries. Both were delicious. Surprisingly, my order came with a side of soup! The matzo ball soup was hot and tasty. The only downside to my experience was the banana pancake. It was flavorless and mushy. Not pictured is my husbands corned beef hash and eggs. He always asks for the corned beef hash to be very well done/crispy and it almost never comes out that way. Mask up and have respect. I've been coming here since childhood. This was our first outdoor dining experience with my senior citizen Mother since covid. They have signs for mask wearing, social distancing and sanitizing bottles are conveniently located around. Unfortunately, they do not enforce social distancing or mask wearing. There were several ANTI-MASKERS leaving the indoor dining area and a group of ANTI-MASKERS that showed up as we were dining. They were aggressively loud mocking how ridiculous people are for following precautions and how they supported Trump. They had no respect for other diners or employees whatsoever. Our waitress was very nice and I was able to see their unease with the trump tshirt wearing customers. It is a shame that management did not make any attempt at all to enforce covid precautions. The food was typical diner food but unappetizing due to the hostility of the ANTI-MASKERS. I believe everyone has a right to their own political opinion but being safe and following necessary covid precautions is an entirely different matter. read more

We're in a road trip so stopped for breakfast at Spinning Wheel Diner. What a great stop! The host was very pleasant and seated us promptly. She even shut the blinds for our comfort before we asked. Our server, Amanda was lovely making sure that we would get what we expected. I had the Jersey Border, a wonderful variation of an eggs Benedict. My husband had the standard eggs and bacon. We both enjoyed our meals! I especially liked that the hollandaise sauce was served in the side for me to put the amount I prefer. The coffee was good. Will stop here again! This is a very good, clean diner with an extensive menu. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad which came with a large bowl of soup of the day. The Tomato Orzo soup was delicious. The salad was very good with plenty of ranch dressing - the chicken was hot and moist and had the right amount of heat. Delicious! This is a true diner setup. It's spacious and full of life. Seating is comfy and the counter seats are old school stools, counter has plenty of space to read a paper, great for solo diners. Spinning wheel is one of my absolute favorite diners. I came here often with my dad as a kid, and I still enjoy coming now on my own as an adult! It has your classic NJ diner look and feel to it and the service has always been great. I've had breakfast and lunch/dinner here and the food has always been very good! I was mainly focused on my infant nephew when I was at the Spinning Wheel because he was six months old and he's a lot cuter than any baby in your family. The service was prompt and friendly enough and the food was acceptable. It wasn't anything that would knock my socks off and nothing happened that would cause me to warn you off the place. This diner is somewhere in New Jersey along the highway*, we stopped here on our way to bucks river tubing in PA on July 4th. So this was a little bit off the route. We came for breakfast around 9am and to be honest The scrambled eggs were over cooked and hash browns weren't rly tasty but I still feel I had a good time here. If I ever came back I'd tell them to cook them less or order something else. The 3 of us each got the " any 2 eggs " special which came with a big stack of buttered toast and hash browns for 4.95$! Great deal. One of my friends added sausage and orange juice to hers and our bill came out to $20 all together. This had been our favorite diner for the past 35 years and we always made a point to visit it for breakfast when we were in the area. But this last trip will be my last. I ordered just eggs over medium with home fries as I always do. The potatoes tasted of rancid grease and were largely inedible. The eggs arrived over EASY; the yolk and uncooked whites spread all over the plate when I dug in - indicative of very low quality and/or very old eggs. I had them remake the eggs and they arrived closer to MEDIUM - but had the same disgusting tasteless runny consistency. Their prices are quite a bit higher to top it off. It appeared that they have new owners who are not maintaining the quality. It is a shame. read more

Came to this diner on my husband and I way home from a wedding the morning after. Not from the area. Outside was inviting and it was pretty crowded for breakfast . Menu had a lot to choose from! This was ok. Service is great (waitress was nice) and super quick, but the food was not. My brother got a Reuben and it looked way better than what my mom and I got. We started with Matzo ball soup, which was actually pretty good. I would recommend this one as a starter. But our lunch was super dry and not flavorful at all. We ordered vegetarian paninis and the eggplant tasted strange - my mom couldn't even eat it so she took it off. I wish this sandwich had marinara sauce on it - it would be much easier to get down. I ordered the fried flounder sandwich, and when it arrived, I picked it up and it immediately fell apart and made a huge mess. Usually go here for a meal, but this past week was a disaster. I ordered the Spinach Pie for dinner, and what was served to me was completely inedible!! The phyllo dough was overdone, and the spinach was black and so hard you couldn't even cut the pie! I asked for it to be taken back and I swear they served me the same pie! They must have made it in a microwave or stuffed it in a toaster oven. I was looking forward to my meal and received an inedible piece of crap. My dinner consisted of a small bowl of seafood bisque, and the small side salad on the plate with the spinach pie, and a small bowl of ice cream. We were charged for two meals, which I shouldn't have been charged for because I couldn't even eat mine. Very upset with my visit.
