Alex was a true professional. It took him a while to come and fix my small job and I can totally understand...small jobs get pushed a little behind the bigger ones. His work is quick and tidy...he was able to repair a small section of my fence within two hours. For yelp and the cry babies that left 1 stars- Until these cry babies that left bad reviews for him understand what it's like to have your own small business, don't mind their Karen/Ken asses...they simply don't understand that as an owner you can pick and choose your job. If you're being a douche, I would push you behind till you get the message to go elsewhere too. I found Alex here on Yelp. In our backyard, we have a VERY LOW wall. Basically, if we are eating outside, and people are walking by, they can see everything in our backyard since they are looking down into it. It was actually so low, that even I could easily climb over it. We had options. Either grow some tall plants, build the wall higher or install a fence. We tried the plant thing, but that was going to take forever. We got an estimate for the wall and originally was going to go with that, but we decided to use Alex at the end. (Side Note: for walls/fences, the City of Rancho Cucamonga will only allow you to build it up to 6ft tall without a permit.) We called Alex up on a weekday around 4PM and he came at 7PM that same day to look at our yard. He provided an estimate the next morning and came over the following week to do the job. We asked him to build a privacy fence and match the height with our neighbor's wall. The work took 2 days. On day 1, he had an assistant with him and on Day 2, he came alone. I felt bad since we had a heat wave last week (Thursday) and it was a bit over 100 degrees. Alex and his partner had plenty of drinks and sungear on so they were prepared. I'm still adding things to my house and wanted to put in a nice vinyl fence to enclose my backyard. I called up several places to get quotes. Unfortunately I only needed about 16' of fencing with a gate and a couple of the bigger places didn't even send out a person to quote me a price even though they said they would and I called twice to confirm it. The other places had bids that were well over 1500-2000, I've put them in myself and while they are somewhat a PITA, it's sure not worth 2k and I was dreading having to dig holes and plumb lines. It was a breath of fresh air when I found Alex's ad on craigslist. I gave him a call and sent him the dimensions and he immediately worked out three quotes for me with varying materials and itemized prices for each. He let me know which would work best for my situation (I was worried about high winds blowing down the fencing) and we choose the fence to suit the job. To save me some cash he recommended I order a particular gate from Home Depot and have it shipped to my house. I ordered the gate and tracked the shipment, when the receiving day came close I let Alex know and even though the gate had not come in yet, he still held a day for me just in case it came in on time. I really appreciated that because I was in a rush to get that fence up. The gate came in on time and he showed up today. The job was pretty labor intensive and required digging up a dirt mound that had several big roots, Alex did this by himself on a fairly hot day and did the install perfectly. The whole thing took about a day, Alex pours in cement to hold in the posts and uses pressure treated wood on the inside for rigidity. He cleaned up when he was done and didn't try to up the estimate, he was very honest throughout the whole ordeal. Alex saved me a lot of money, the whole thing was less than half of what the highest bids were. I would highly recommend you contact him if you are looking for any fence work, when I chatted with him today he said he does wood, aluminum, block, chainlink, drive gates, decks, patios and a lot of outdoor projects. The worst, most disrespectful and condescending service ever. Maybe he can only do fence, who knows. $550 later, the work is undone, stuff is left messy and absolutely everywhere. He ordered the wrong things, denied it; he didn't follow instructions, denied that too. He scheduled the wrong appt, he blamed that on you; he can't tie up the metal wire, he charges you for his learning curve while he's at it & called you unfair when he took 6 hours to tie up only 2 sails, except that one of them just broke off the next day. Each sail is like $25, and most people get it done on their own. I figure hiring help for a few hours would do it, to make it better. It ended up taking 2.5 days to tie up some sails while being accused and insulted by the guy that I hired, who really sucked at math by the way, he ordered the wrong parts & blaming it all on me. And guess what? Even 2.5 day later, the job is only 60% done if even that. Like really?! What have you been doing?? And do you know what you are doing?? Even if it takes more than a few hours, it should not take close to 5 full days to complete such tasks to say the least! Are you that incompetent?? I wasn't out there monitoring him, I don't know fully what he's doing. I was only there the 1st day on and off moving the sails around. But day 2 he came back to tie things up, he barely scratch the surface. Absolutely ridiculous. I was beyond fed up w his excuses & personality quirks. He walked out on the job in the middle of it irresponsibly by overbooking himself. He picks and chooses what he wants to hear and make up stories as he sees fit. Absolutely disrespectful if you ask me, as well as insulting. Imagine hiring a guy who throw personal attacks to defend his error while refusing to hear anything you have to say. This is a dismissive & combative person w a passive aggressive personality. The conversation is completely one way street. He estimated 2-3 hr to finish the job, he took 6 hours and he only finished 10 % of the job. I asked him to honor the estimate or flat rate to finish. He kept wanting more $. And he insisted that he's doing this as a favor, he's just such a nice guy applauding himself as he speaks. It's a sunshade sail for god sake, NOT rocket science. I don't know what he does for fence. Maybe he does that one thing well, who knows. But if you wanna hire him for anything else, good luck. He will eat up your wallet like a faucet and excuse himself for any excuses he can think of while making you the bad guy as he can do no wrong. So yes $25 per sail at 5 sails is like $125 and after paying this guy $550 later, it's NOT even half way finished. Stay far far far far far away if I were you. Zero humility and zero respect. If you are doing something outside of your "expertise", you might practice the virtue of humility and learn to take some responsibilities. read more

I had three companies come out to give quotes to do a fence installation in mid-September. Manzo's was the mid-range price, and able to start the next week. His yelp reviews were positive. He sent my contract to me through email and said I could print it out and sign it but that it would be the final contract. And it was. He and three other men arrived around 8:30 and immediately began tear-down. No waiting, no messing around. They just got to work. I went out to talk to him to clear up a couple questions I had, and as always he was pleasant and answered my questions clearly. Then back to work. They had a lunch break at noon and went back to it. At 4:30 the fence was done! He had recommended a different metal pole than the one I had originally asked for and I went with that. He sunk the poles into 30" of concrete, which is deeper than necessary! He also used redwood which he guaranteed for 25 years, and did it in the same style as the fence I had on the other side of the yard. Here's where it gets interesting... My neighbour had agreed on the fence. Everything was fine when I told her what was going on. We had been discussing fences for two months. But after the fence went up, her boyfriend came over and said he didn't like it. He didn't like the poles, and he didn't like the gate they put on her property. Both were fine, and both were guaranteed by Alex. But this yokel wasn't in the negotiations on the fence because HE WASN'T PAYING. Not his house. However, he persuaded the neighbour not to pay. So I ended up paying for it all. I wasn't going to short the contractor (Alex) because THEY were being nasty. I called Alex later that week and talked to him about the neighbour's concerns. He said he would come back out and talk to us and see if he could make them happy. Remember ~ they had not paid him for the gate he installed on their property! But he wanted to make them happy, and try to help me get the money they owed me. So he built them yet another gate, dropped MORE cement into the holes and put a board over the poles (???) that does absolutely NOTHING (and he knew it wouldn't) but it seemed to make the neighbour happy, and they wrote me a check. Through it all, Alex just smiled and was pleasant, doing his best to make these incredibly difficult people happy. He did all this alone, as his crew was at another job. Alex will do EVERYTHING he can to make you happy with his work. He's a top-notch guy. I'd use him again. If I could give six stars, I would. read more

I had the hardest time finding someone to even give me a quote. I called and left a voice mail for Alex and he never returned my call. Because I was not able to find someone else, I called again a couple days later. He apologized and agreed to give me a quote. I hired him to do the work and everything went as smoothly as possible. We didn't know the difference. We thought a general contractor can do anything. It could be our fault perhaps. We have a really old fence in our backyard where we had a couple sections starting to topple over. Due to the age of the fence we thought for sure we would have to replace the whole thing. We called Alex who was so laid back and fair in his assessment. He saved us so much money, instead of buying all new panels all we needed was to replace one support beam.
