I'm incensed that this restaurant won't make substitutions: for example...my wife has s a vegetarian. The only item was a large salad, but it had 4 pieces of chicken on top. They would not give her anything else! so we had to pay the price of it with chicken. At a special time with friends at Breakfast, I ordered the egg dish that had bacon on the side I DO NOT EAT BACON!! They would not provide me a piece of turkey sausage in its place. Ordered a California Omelette. It was not warm, and more like a flat browned edged scrambled egg. I suspect it was made ahead of time and reheated. Other ingredients were very skimpy! The four avocado slices were from a very small sized avocado. The toast was cold with a smear of butter than never melted. I suspect that was done ahead of time too. Someone else in my group ordered the same breakfast and felt the same about her order. Village Inn or Denny's serves a far superior product. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. Really wanted to like this place. Have only been there for lunch, so I will give their breakfast a try as we had a nice server. I had fish tacos. They came looking like they had fallen off plate and was scooped back up together and had somehow lost the fish. My salad was a bit dry and I asked for a little additional dressing. When bill came I saw they charged me .70 cents for the additional dressing. My friend had the smash burger. It wasn't smashed and the size was something slightly larger than a slider. Won't even comment on prices as the portions were so small and inadequate. read more

Since this was the first time there, purposely choose brunch, leaving you with breakfast, or lunch options. One of our guests choose breakfast, and his hash browns were cold and soggy. They brought him a replacement order. I ordered soup and a side salad. The salad was fine. The soup was disgusting. It was cold and the flavor was to be desired. I was pleasantly surprised by Maple & Rye this last weekend. It has not been my first choice for a meal with company, but I can make reservations, so we tried it again. I give Maple & Rye a less than stellar rating because of their staff. The Hostess for this Saturday at 11:30am could not conger up a smile the whole time we were there; I did not feel welcome. The breakfast meals, 2 Denver Omelets and 1 Biscuits and Gravy with eggs, however, were excellent. I was not expecting these flavorful meals as we have been disappointed to the point of not even thinking of eating at Maple & Rye in the past. Food was fine - breakfast. Service was mediocre as servers seemed to be stretched thin; maybe one or two at the hostess stand could have pitched in. The disappointing thing about our visit for Sunday brunch was total disregard for the fact that we had made a reservation for four on the patio. We had to wait, were offered a hi-top in the bar, and were told the patio was very sunny. Saw several parties enter w/o reservations who were seated with the same sense of urgency(?) as afforded our party. Finally seated on the patio in partial sun BEHIND A POST completely blocking the view of the golf course. We were very specific when we made the reservation as we wanted a GRAND experience for our out-of-town guests. Several parties on the patio were seated in the shade and were walk-ins ahead of us. No sense making a reservation or expecting any preferential treatment as a resident with a W/S Concepts loyalty card, which was provided at the time the reservation was made. The restaurant was very nice. Our waitress was sweet and efficient. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. The coffee was fresh ground and brewed but very weak. It looked like the only table they had for 8 was a high top which for older people is not especially good. We managed and had a nice time. We truly wanted this place to be a great new stop in our dining rotation, really...we did. But after eating here (I simply can't call it "dining") our level of disappointment is off the charts. House made pasta was rubbery and crispy on the edges, and the sauces were barely there, not to mention completely flavorless. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates for an appetizer and the look of them alone was nearly enough to send us running; then we actually ate one. (Oh, the horror!) After all the waiting for this place to open, and one that was supposed to elevate our experience in The Grand, I can only say that I miss the Coco's that used to be in this location. The deviled eggs were our absolute favorite literally so so good! I got the French dip and seasoning and aju just so good. I will say the meat was a bit tough so a bit of chewing involved. My boyfriend got the breakfast croissant sandwich and the bacon was VERY hard. Our server was new so knowledge wasn't quite 100% but she was very sweet! The vibe is very busy. Very loud clinking. Loved the open kitchen concept but I think it adds to the very noisy environment. I want to try more but pretty pricey! read more

What a disappointment for my first visit for breakfast. I ordered the patriot breakfast with sausage links, it had only one link and the hash browns were so overcooked they were beyond crunchy. My wife ordered one of the Benedict's and the poached eggs were overcooked. She spoke with the waitress and they ordered two more eggs. Meanwhile the rest of the breakfast was getting cold. When the two newly poached eggs arrived they were almost raw so we asked that the dish be taken off our bill. Perhaps we'll give them another try but not for breakfast. read more

Food: This is the first time I've been disappointed with the food. I had the Cranberry and Chèvre Salad with shrimp. I absolutely did not like it. It had 4 shrimp on it and it was supposed to have "candied walnuts." Sorry, those were not candied. Then it had a dollop of goat cheese on it which apparently is chèvre. Yuck. Service: Waitress seemed a bit distracted brought ice tea when Diet Coke was requested but it appeared she was the only waitress. She corrected that right away. Appeared there might have been two managers there. They could maybe have pitched in? Then, we were 10 minutes late for our 1pm reservation. We were dealing with a wheelchair. You would have thought we committed a crime the way the manager acted. The restaurant was half empty. Ambience: as usual other than a bit noisy, it was perfect. I'll go back. After a reorder that took forever, the extra ham ordered was not on the order. They put a small skimpy piece of deli ham on the Benedicts. Waitress didn't come back to check how reorder was. Service was great. Server gave opinion on dishes as we made our choices. Unfortunately, 2 of the 6 appetizers were overcooked (Fried Green Tomatoes & Brussel Sprouts). The Shrimp & Grits entree looked like scrambled eggs. They were yellow & chunky. Not at all like how Grits are supposed to be (white and silky-smooth). 2 in our party ordered the Fish Tacos. One was good, the other had a lonnnnggg hair in it that made us all lose our appetites and not finish our meals. Too bad. We were all looking forward to a new place to frequent. Service was very good. The meal that I had left much to desired. I had ordered a Cobb salad and it looked like they had placed all of the condiments of the salad on the bottom of the bowl and just threw lettuce on top. Most of the time I order a Cobb salad, it comes neatly presented and the condiments are assorted around the outside of the bowl. In addition, I ordered a cup of their clam chowder. It was atrocious the portion size had to be less than 4 ounces and was watery. I do not recommend this item. My friend had a hamburger and fries, it was acceptable not great. The French Fries were very good. The presentation of Al items was poor or forgotten by the staff. read more

Good food, prompt service, and mostly reasonable prices--breakfast mimosas are a bit steep at $10. Food has good variety and nicely prepared. The place has far more staff than the last two restaurants that occupied the space, so service has been good. Chase the bartender was quick and very personable--and even after the crowd has cleared out, service and ambiance remained very good. Let me start to say that our waitress was nice and gave us good service. The restaurant is well located on the golf course and it is in our home community so we were really looking forward to having a good experience. Unfortunately we are only giving it a 1 star. First when my husband ordered a vodka gibson, we were informed that they do not have cocktail onions. How hard is it to stock cocktail onions?! When our entrees came (Shrimp Scampi and Bolognese) both had dry toast on the side but nowhere was there any butter for that toast. The plates were filled with noodles, lots of noodles and nowhere was there any parmesan cheese. We asked the manager for some soup spoons and she very quickly and I think rudely told us that they only have regular spoons which she eventually brought for us. I think we interrupted her helping someone else. We were not impressed and are truly disappointed in this restaurant especially since as I said before it is located in our home community of the Grand. read more

Having eaten here last night, I felt the need to address the food. The service was excellent, but the food was awful. Since the last time I've eaten here, the selection seems to have become smaller. I made the mistake of ordering the smash burger after returning a totally overcooked roast beef sandwich. They have good onion rings, but have you ever had them served without a dipping sauce? Why did I order the awful smashburger? I have no explanation but stupidity. I would like to say that I'd eat there again because it's close to me, but I will just have to drive further.
