Visited Maple & Rye for the first time today...shocked there has been any bad reviews for this spot. Decor, food and service were all top notch. It's in the middle of Sun City, so maybe people are used to Denny's and jello molds. Tough leaving a bad review for what was a hopeful first visit. The service was the best thing about our visit and even that could have been much better. We ended up being seated right next to the kitchen so we heard and saw maybe more than we should have. Food took FOREVER to come, my chicken sandwich was SO greasy it soaked the bottom bun with grease all the way through and the after effects was my napkin looked like I sopped up the grease but it was just from me cleaning my hands. My wife returned her French dip as she asked for no cheese and it came with cheese...then we waited again for them to fix it. Great name and beautiful space could be turned into a money making opportunity, but they will have to get on it and fix the issues with food quality and kitchen staff for sure. read more

My husband and I have tried M&R several times, and each time we have been disappointed in the food. Yesterday, Sunday, we had lunch around 1:30 and we both ordered the Club Sandwich with fries. The sandwich was terrible, not only in presentation, but also in taste. Basically, it was just a bread and lettuce sandwich. Three overly thick, dried, slices of some kind of bread, thin piece of fatty ham, thin piece of cheese, one piece of bacon, big chunks of yellow-green flavorless bib lettuce, and only a dab of mayonnaise on one bread slice. The French fries were greasy and not fresh. On top of the bad food, when we arrived, we were escorted past several tables piled with dirty dishes - not too appealing. Went for breakfast this morning, arrived at 9:30am. Was immediately seated on the patio with a gorgeous view. Dana, our server quick to wait on us and welcome us. Took our order which was served within 5 minutes. I have had omelets from Over Easy and Biscuits Cafe and the one I had here was hands down the best. Wife had pancakes that were great as well. Well the food tasted ok I guess. If you go and love grease this is the place. Definately order the Shrimp and Grits and if in the mood for pasta the tagliatelle! See pics. The food was actually not bad tasting, although my pasta needed a bit more salt. But I dont know why so much oil ! Did the chef just pour the oil from the sausage that he fried back into the pasta dish ? Or, for my wife's grits dish, the rendered oil from the bacon ? Service was ok but the single waiter had too many tables to attend to. It's unfortunate because my wife had a wonderful time during a prior lunch visit on which she ordered fish tacos which prompted her to have me come along for dinner. This place was just okay. It definitely wasn't bad but it's not pulling me back again. We wanted to try a variety so we ordered the bacon wrapped dates, the deviled eggs, the blacked fish tacos, and the grilled chicken caprese. The fish tacos were the only thing I actually enjoyed. The dates were good but again just not great. The service was just ok. We sat at the bar and although the bartenders were friendly it seemed very forced and fake and just too much. After my negative review of Maple and Rye, I received an email from the manager in which she encouraged me to give the restaurant another try. Because of that email, my wife and ate at the restaurant last evening. We were pleasantly surprised at the improved quality of the food and service. My fish and chips was hot and tasty and her salmon dish was very good too. Our server was excellent and very attentive. The restaurant's view of the 18th hole of the Granite Falls golf course is spectacular, and my wife and I encourage everyone to check out this much-improved eatery. I'm incensed that this restaurant won't make substitutions: for example...my wife has s a vegetarian. The only item was a large salad, but it had 4 pieces of chicken on top. They would not give her anything else! so we had to pay the price of it with chicken. At a special time with friends at Breakfast, I ordered the egg dish that had bacon on the side I DO NOT EAT BACON!! They would not provide me a piece of turkey sausage in its place. Been here twice and have enjoyed both times. Yes, it's noisy, but most restaurants are these days. Going during the "off" hours helps some. Service is above good. Service both times has been outstanding. The decor is very pretty. Breakfast is my favorite. The Breakfast Croissant is very good. With the potatoes, it's just the right amount of food. My coffee cup was never empty. Loved, Loved the Hot Dog. I know they aren't supposed to be good for you, but oh my it was good! And with the onion rings............... And, the restrooms (on both trips) were some of the cleanest I've seen. read more

The four avocado slices were from a very small sized avocado. The toast was cold with a smear of butter than never melted. I suspect that was done ahead of time too. Someone else in my group ordered the same breakfast and felt the same about her order. Village Inn or Denny's serves a far superior product. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. I give Maple & Rye a less than stellar rating because of their staff. The Hostess for this Saturday at 11:30am could not conger up a smile the whole time we were there; I did not feel welcome. The breakfast meals, 2 Denver Omelets and 1 Biscuits and Gravy with eggs, however, were excellent. I was not expecting these flavorful meals as we have been disappointed to the point of not even thinking of eating at Maple & Rye in the past. Really wanted to like this place. Have only been there for lunch, so I will give their breakfast a try as we had a nice server. I had fish tacos. They came looking like they had fallen off plate and was scooped back up together and had somehow lost the fish. My salad was a bit dry and I asked for a little additional dressing. When bill came I saw they charged me .70 cents for the additional dressing. My friend had the smash burger. It wasn't smashed and the size was something slightly larger than a slider. Won't even comment on prices as the portions were so small and inadequate. read more
