I was stuck at the DMV waiting and had the smell of bacon stuck in my head from the walk in. I decided to go find that bacon taking a break from the monotony of the wait. Right next door I found maple leaf donuts. As I got closer I saw the signs in the windows said "bagels" and "sandwiches" so I knew this had to be the place. When I walked in I was pleased to find a nice clean place with a display counter filled with all kinds of freshly made tasty treats. I went for the bacon omelet bagel on an onion bagel and it was great! Bacon (a bit sparse) and a fluffy egg omelet with an herbed butter spread on a freshly made, super soft, onion bagel. $4.61 including tax. Definitely hit the spot and let me forget that I was at the DMV for a minute. I hope I never have to go back to the DMV but I would definitely go back to maple leaf, give'em a try! read more

I got a call from my office manager that she forgot the donuts. Fortunately I was early in my commute and was able to stop by here and grab two dozen doughnuts. You get a free glazed one when you check in on yelp. Super nice lady and she picked a variety for me. Only downside was Apple Pay was not working. The doughnuts were devoured by staff. We did not have any leftovers. They have a variety of breakfast sandwiches and they carry peerless coffee which is awesome. I also appreciated that I was asked nut free or mixed. I was walking by and need sustenance. I saw on Yelp and the small Maple Leaf sign. It is sadly hidden behind the Subway and bath store. So if you are not a local you have no idea it is even there!! Well I went in and wanted to get my egg and cheese sandwich on a croissiant but they were all out of crossiants. Shame. I also didnt want to leave and not support a small business so I got a bagel and Snapple. It held me over until I had some lunch later on. They do take card here which was great. Not many donut shops in Los Gatos. The owners here are very kind. You'll get good donuts with a smile. Great drink selection. I have not had the bagels but they smell good. If you're a fan of apple fritters and happen to be in Los Gatos...Maple Leaf is definitely worth a stop!!! The apple fritters here are amazing. Only $2 and the doughnut is full of apples (every bite!) and the cinnamon/sugary goodness that we all enjoy. It's HUGE too, so you can easily share it...or eat it yourself and do cardio later lol. Get yourself a coffee and you got a satisfying sweet treat!!! Besides that, the donuts here are great. Light and airy...I cannot complain. This shop is great and a little over 5 min walking distance from my house! yAY! A great treat for ....a small work out hahaha. too bad they close early... Love this place. Subway; open 24 hours but you kind of get tired of 3. 7-11; which I am guilty going to almost every week to buy a snack or two I really hate driving into Downtown Los Gatos (especially during lunch time) because once you're in, getting out would take you about 20 minutes due to the parking and traffic. There is truly almost no escape!! Even if you THINK you've found a different route! Anyway, that's when I found this wonderful donut shop.. on an early morning when downtown isn't full of new DMV drivers. To me, first impressions mean everything. I don't know if some people may be misunderstanding the woman behind the counter because she speaks limited English-- but she is truly nice. She greeted me with a smile along with a hello, the moment I walked in. I was afraid she was going to tell me they don't serve any other sandwiches, besides breakfast sandwiches, when I ordered the premium chicken sandwich on a croissant (BOMB, BTW). But nope! She just said "okay!" and went on to making it! I also decided to treat myself to a chocolate donut and some orange juice. My total was about $10. And it may seem a little pricey... but the quality of the sandwich is great and it truly hit the spot when lunch time rolled around!! Opted for the chocolate doughnut with chocolate sprinkles. Doughnut was crispy on the outside & soft crumbly center. It taste fresh (without the oily aftertaste that some shops has) 3.5 star When I check in on Yelp, it got me a free doughnut. Mine mine... decisions decisions decisions... I settled for the maple glazed doughnut & had it to go. Had it for teatime once I got home. OMG... this doughnut is so fluffy/airy inside with a nice crisply layer in the outside. The maple glaze was just right, not too thicker & just the right amount of sweetness. 5 Star! I'll definitely go back when I'm in that area. Love some of the cafes nearby but will have to think how to enjoy doughnuts from here while I sip some coffee in those cafes read more

I grew up in Los Gatos and moved back in the last year. I work down in San Jose and often will have a donut or two with a carton of milk to start the day. I stopped by Maple Leaf Donuts and got two donuts and an elementary school size carton of milk. I was on 17 headed towards San Jose (in front of Vasona) when I took my first swig of sour milk coming from the carton. YUK! I was too far down the road so just bit the bullet and finished the donuts sans milk. I went back on Saturday (6/15) to get some donuts and grabbed another elementary school size carton of milk. I explained to girl behind the counter what had happened on my previous visit and asked if she might compliment the milk this time to make up for the sour carton. She said she would not. Surprised, I explained to her again what had happened and all I was asking was to have her acknowledge that I had been sold undrinkable milk and to have them take responsibility. Her argument was that all expiration dates are current and it was not her problem. I have been taught that the customer always comes first. The way she responded to me, I felt like a liar. I asked her if she was willing to lose a customer for her lack of sensitivity. She was and she has. The $ amount is trivial but the principal is huge. My brothers found other donut shops that day. A few months back, a friend on yelp sent me a random email asking me, "If you were to buy me a donut, what kind would it be?" I was thinking about this fellow yelper yesterday, and wondering what he was up to when I parked in front of Maple Leaf Donut, right across the parking lot from Salon Rouge. I decided to run in and get a donut in his place, since he's far to healthy to eat one anyway. I got one donut and a large mint tea. The man behind the counter was soft-spoken and had a cute smile on his face, and smiling back, I didn't for a second feel guilty that I was getting something I probably shouldn't. The menu displayed behind him was long and from the looks of it, everything was inexpensive. They have freshly made donuts & bagels, a variety of breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches, and various types of coffee and tea. The best doughnuts I have had are found at Maple Leaf Donuts. The raised are much better than the cake-style. Sure, the place isn't pretty, but the flavor crushes Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, tea drinks, and donuts. I ordered a Turkey Avocado sandwich, which came in a surprisingly large croissant. While not as big as a large sub from the Subway next door, it was certainly very filling and much more tasty. It's been awhile since I've had a good Turkey Avocado sandwich. The croissant itself was excellent and held together very well. Would definitely come visit again.
