Hey there Party People I had heard of this place from friends so I decided to try it. I confused this place with another restaurant when I did my first review. So I want to set the record straight because Los Gatos Cafe was a really good experience. It's a small place but there are outside tables as well. You can order lunch at any time as well as breakfast. We started with Banana Chocolate Chip pancakes. Holy smokes they were the bomb. They had a ton of fresh bananas inside as well as a nice amount of chocolate chips on top. I had the Hot Turkey and Pear sandwich. I know the combo sounds weird but it was super tasty. The pear added crunch and sweetness to the sandwich. There was also a good dose of grilled onions to go with the owie gooey cheese....yum. Hubby had the Granite Flank Steak Sandwich . It was smothered in Gorgonzola cheese with a good portion of Flank Steak. The steak was tender and well seasoned. It was the perfect flavor bite. Not very good. Thickest Swedish pancakes I've ever had. Can compare with fast food or ihop (actually I like ihop more). Service was very prompt and fast. When the lady shoved the pancakes on our table the lake of molten fat the Swedish pancakes were swimming in poured directly on to my pants through the gaps in the metal table (the tables do not have tablecloths, they are totally bare). They even brought the check soon after bringing us our food and told us we could pay whenever we were ready. UPDATE: 5 hours after eating here, still feeling over full and sick like I ate something with a lot of the wrong kind of fat. Won't be coming back. read more

Crab omelette 4/5 - this dish was very good! The eggs were so fluffy and the crab was sweet. Portions are huge too! I was only able to eat half. Potatoes were also good. I did find a hair in my omelette but the waiter took it away and gave me a new one. Cinnamon bun 3/5 - huge cinnamon roll but I wish it was softer. Absolutely amazing brunch!! This diner/cafe is right in downtown Los Gatos. The outdoor seating was all shaded, perfect for the hot summer day and if you are bringing a dog. The staff were great and gave us plenty of water refills. I ordered the Gorgonzola scramble sub feta and was delicious. The hallmark to me of a good brunch is the breakfast potatoes which were outstanding and unique, crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth coziness in the inside. This is an excellent casual, neighborhood breakfast spot! Despite the busy crowd of people out front waiting, we were seated very quickly and service was fast overall. The food hit the spot! My boyfriend ordered the pancakes and I ordered the crab cakes with poached eggs. First, these are large portion sizes and reasonably priced. The pancakes were large and fluffy, and they didn't skimp on the crab in the crab cakes. The side potatoes were nice and crispy! We've been to its "uptown" location several times, but not this original location. The fares are similar, the facility smaller, and the services quite a bit better. Never tried their clam chowder, it was surprisingly good. Order crab Benedict and also crab omelette, both were excellent, as expected. Then we got the Swiss pancake with strawberry spread, also delicious. At the end, an excellent place. Why not 5-star? The deco is really showing wear and tear and on the dark side. Visiting a friend who lives in the area. Decided to try this restaurant due to some diet restrictions that my friend had. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The menu was quite extensive but was primarily a breakfast place even though they did have salads, sandwiches etc. It's been a while since I had French Toast so I went with their traditional French Toast. The portions were quite large - there were 5 pieces of French toast in my order. Came with powdered sugar on top and syrup and butter on the side with a slice of orange. I ate the first toast while it was still warm and it did taste good. A little dry. However, the second and subsequent pieces did not sit well with me and it was greasy. I was not able to finish my meal but felt uncomfortable all day afterwards. Not sure what it was but it felt like I had a ton of greasy fried food. My friend ordered some scrambled eggs - which looked dry as well. Came with a bowl of fruits and a slice of pineapple coconut bread. My friend said her order was good. Servers were friendly and checked in on us quite frequently. Also refilled our water glasses whenever we needed a refill. Not sure that I would come back here to order the same dish. The energy is this place is off the charts! Cheerful, friendly, and full of happy diners. I saw a lot of tantalizing pancakes and waffles go by, but what really stopped me in my tracks was an enormous cinnamon roll about 5 inches tall and dripping with frosting! Next time for sure. I had a patty melt with fries. Perfectly cooked though it could have used a bit more salt. Easy enough to remedy. It washer and made two big meals. Never in my life have I had hashbrowns like this. After a chiropractor visit in the area I was too hungry to drive back to east San Jose, and I can't believe I've never been to Los Gatos cafe before. From the outside and even inside it's an unassuming diner, but the cooking is absolute chefs kiss. Got seated and served immediately at the counter. When I used to live in San Diego I'd get brunch all the time but always associated it with a beach day and never really got into it in the bay. These hashbrowns are so good. Absolute crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Unfortunately I have no clue which Benedict I got, but that was also excellent. Their prices are affordable and portions generous. We came here for a friends' lunch, and we all chose breakfast entrees, even though there are many other options! Crab Souffle Omelette, $20, served with a bakery item and choice of herb potatoes or grits. Basic breakfast, $17, 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, herb potatoes, sourdough. Lite breakfast, one French crepe w/apricot butter, two slices of bacon, one egg, $12 (I added a side of raspberry coffee cake for $4.) Chicken Apple Sausage Benedict, $19, served with herbed potatoes, and an added side of raspberry coffee cake $4. I would've ordered a side of herbed potatoes for $6, but my friend offered to share her generous portion that came with her entree. It was the perfect addition to my Lite breakfast. It's a got a good energy and vibe going on for a weekend brunch, the wait can be a bit long depending on your party size, portions are decent sized and they are great with keeping your coffee cup full. Party of 6, seated right away on Veterans Day around 11:30 AM. The host was super polite and pleasant -- great first impression. They had a few specials listed on a whiteboard way up on the wall, but our server didn't mention them when handing out menus, which would've been nice. We ordered a mix of things -- Benedict, omelette, quesadillas, and burgers -- plus coffee cake for everyone to share. The food came out hot and fresh, and the portions were pretty generous. This morning I ended up at the Los Gatos Cafe on Santa Cruz avenue, a small diner-like experience with counter service and an extensive breakfast menu. Chimichurri flank steak showed up in a lot of dishes. I hadn't seen that before. So I asked for a recommendation and was guided to the chimichurri steak benedict with gorgonzola. I went with grits over potatoes since you don't get grits much out here. This was amazing. The perfectly poached eggs and well seasoned steak makes the dish a delight. The hollandaise was perfect The heaping dollop of butter made the grits a heavenly experience. The friendly counter staff kept my coffee full and my space clean. Small and friendly, with an extensive breakfast menu. Outdoor seating with people watching is available, but I enjoyed the counter today. Came on a Sunday around 11:30am which had some pretty bad congestion around the area, but fortunately the line here wasn't too bad. Nice and quick service. Great flavors, options, and generous portions for the price. Highly recommend to all and I will definitely be back to try more of their menu! Plenty of parking in the area is convenient as well. Some street parking in front, but otherwise a few lots are around in the area. Crab Soufflé Omelette - definitely can taste crab but wish there was a bit more pieces of crab. Plenty of avocados in the omelette which I love. It's super fluffy too (hence the soufflé)! Love the light and plentiful of hollandaise sauce on top of the omelette. One of my favorite omelettes at a brunch restaurant to-date. Ham and Cheese Soufflé Omelette - Lots of ham in this one and the flavor + texture is awesome! Entree comes with a bakery item, so we got the raspberry coffee cake and upgraded to the cinnamon roll (+$5). Raspberry coffee cake was pretty standard and good. But the cinnamon roll...! Came here for brunch on a Sunday. It was crowded, but my party of 2 only had to wait about 3 minutes to be seated. Crab Soufflé Omelette (5/5): This comes with a choice of grits or potatoes. The omelette includes crab, avocado, mushrooms, and tomatoes but I asked for no tomatoes. What makes this omelette unique is that it's extremely fluffy and bouncy. The overall omelette was great, but I wish the toppings were more spread out as it felt like most of it was on one side of the omelette. The crab was nice, but an increased portion would've been great. The potatoes took me by surprise though. I thought it was going to be plain salt and pepper, but it has a curry flavor that was amazing. Cinnamon Roll (4/5): This is worth the $5 upgrade. It was huge! Went on Sat morning. It's been a few months since our last visit. We used to come here all the time, before we moved. Service: 5/5, as always. Food: 3/5. My omelette was way greasier than any previous visit -- I ordered the same thing I almost always did, a ground beef omelette sub chorizo. This time it was served in a puddle of grease. Never came out like that before. Potatoes were as crispy and delicious as ever -- still tops for breakfast potatoes, in my book. I could only eat about 1/3 of the greasy omelette before I started feeling sick, so I got a box and set napkins in the bottom to help it drain. It worked, thoroughly enjoyed it later! Also: we went at around 7:15, looking forward to a cinnamon roll. They don't have cinnamon rolls ready that early. :(( read more

From waffles to scrambles to omelettes we had a filling meal to start the day. It elevated our spirits and the coffee kept pouring as well. The service was a highlight of the meal, attentive, local-like, hospitable, and polite. This is an experienced staff and crew. They were not phased by the large groups and folded out the necessary tables in a very efficient way and got everyone to fit. Having gone to both Cafe Establishments I would say that both are equal in their food quality. Their menu isn't anything complicated and thus makes it easy to be satisfied by a well made meal. Food quality and portions are really good. The omelets and Benedicts are delectable and so light and airy. It shows that they take pride in their work. The Herb Avocado and Chicken sandwich is just perfect, I personally prefer crispy over grilled but I make an exception here. Topping brunch off with a raspberry coffee cake and trust me you should try it. It pairs perfectly with a latte or a black coffee. Los Gatos Cafe is a comforting, old school diner located in LG Downtown. It gets crowded on the weekends, so I usually avoid it during peak hours, but the restaurant is pretty efficient at moving tables in and out, so I've never had to wait too terribly long. LG Cafe is breakfast food done well. The portions are massive, they keep the coffee flowing, and they make enormous cinnamon rolls, dipping with icing that I'm dying to try. Overall, absolutely worth a visit when in LG. read more

I was here after a hike with my friend. We decided to have lunch here and as soon we reached we got the seat when we chose to sit outside. The service is great, I had ordered California Benedict which doesn't have sides I believe but when the order came it had potatoes as the sides. The ambience was great as busy with hustling and bustling with people inside and outside the restaurant. They have clean restrooms, and the food was delicious. My friend also ordered steak Benedict and their famous Cinnamon rolls which was huge for even two people that she had to pack it to home. I ordered a souffle omelette, but the omelette itself had a lack of flavor. I don't know if it's because they put water/milk in the eggs to make it fluffy. Hands down, one of the best brunch experiences I've had in the Bay Area--this cozy spot in Los Gatos is a hidden gem!
