Breakfast and Specialty Sandwiches/Salads menus behind the counter
Maria L.

Came here for an early lunch yesterday for the first time. Even though it was early, they still had a constant stream of online orders and customers coming in, mostly regulars. It's a mom-and-pop shop at the back of an office complex, with 3 tables indoors, and 4 tables/2 benches outdoors. The menu at the entrance had quite a number of Vietnamese items. The breakfast menu and the specialty sandwiches/salads menu were behind the counter. They did accept credit cards/Apple Pay. The prices listed on their menu included a 4% cash discount. The shop was clean and service was friendly. I ordered the chicken banh mi and Vietnamese coffee combo. It took a few minutes as the sandwich was freshly prepared. The coffee was pretty strong. While the sandwich was not as flavorful as I would expect, it tasted healthy and super fresh. I also loved how crispy the outside of the bread was. It was quite expensive considering the size of the sandwich, but not surprisingly as it was Los Gatos.

***USP: Tiny little restaurant/cafe with less than 5 or so tables. They serve pho, Vietnamese sandwiches and some western style "specialty" sandwiches. ***LOCATION: they have plenty of parking but are tucked away in the back of a building so I had some difficulty finding them. ***FOOD: I got the chicken banh mi. Priced at $12, it's inline with most other sandwich places and surprisingly not expensive given the location. The sandwich was exceedingly fresh, I thought I would have 1/2 of it but ended up chowing down the whole sandwich by myself. Though the ingredients were great, bread was crusty outside and soft inside, I missed flavor. The jalapeno slices provided a much needed element of heat but they were very few. The pickled veggies had a tartness but failed to rouse the taste buds. I think they can be a little more generous with their in-house sauce.

Ordered takeout of their Grilled Pork Banh Mi and the Spring Rolls. The Banh Mi was decent, but I thought the grilled pork lacked juiciness and flavor. It was served in a baguette and was very crunchy. I'm more of a fan of softer bread. The spring rolls were very good. Very long and packed rolls, and came with one of the best peanut sauces I've ever had with them.

Turn key $16 Vietnamese sandwich And a cafe cold coffee Bing! Place is busy, efficient And the standard American sandwiches look hearty and good. The grilled pork was tasty I will be back It was recommended on Yelp to me!

Hmmm reviews seemed legit and that's why we went. Unfortunately we weren't impressed. I ordered the Grilled Chicken. It was bland. I didn't see any pesto or sun dried tomatoes on it. Disappointing to say the least. The owner recommended my sandwich and my boyfriend's too. He was unimpressed with it also. It's a good location for them because they're the only food offering in the vicinity. Businesses in the area essentially have one choice if they need lunch. The price point is not worth the sandwiches. At least not the ones that we had. Inside is a regular sandwich shop with a few tables to sit at and a few places to eat outside. It's ok. Similar to other sandwich shops in the environment but definitely better choices in town for certain. I gave it 2 stars because the owner seemed nice and helpful when we told him it was our first time and what he recommended. Otherwise it would probably be 1 star. We won't be back.

Our first visit here, so excited! I had to take a Friday off to take sandwiches over to the King Tides this weekend.

Meh... Premium price for mediocre sandwiches. Sandwich Maker is hard to visit because they're only open on weekdays and close early afternoons. I finally took a Friday off and we were able to grab a to-go order & take it to the Santa Cruz Wharf to see the king tides. We told the owner it was our first visit and asked him what he liked. We went with his recommendations so I got The Californian and my gf ordered the Grilled Cheese. Mine was just okay and I expected much better based on the reviews. My gf didn't care for hers and she didn't finish it. Service was friendly & each sandwich is made to order but lacking anything to make them amazing like others are saying... our orders didn't stand up to the hype. So on top of a mediocre sandwich I was disappointed too. Inside you'll hear the owner behind the counter talking to customers on the other side of the room. The topic during our visit was the Mike Tyson boxing match happening later that evening. If you work in the surrounding offices it would be super convenient spot for lunch but at a high price. I can't think of a reason for us to try it again when there are fantastic sandwich options in, and close to, downtown Los Gatos.

Stopped by here on a Monday afternoon since we were craving some pho and there was no wait! We ordered the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, Chicken Pho, and Shrimp Spring Rolls! Everything was delicious and the service was so fast. There was a wide variety of sandwich options here but since we were in the mood for some Vietnamese food, we didn't end up trying out their sandwiches There were both indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant was clean. There were the sweetest ladies working there too so I'm glad we were able to support their cafe/ restaurant!

Stopped in during a road trip because of the positive reviews. We were not disappointed! We tried the grilled pork bhan mi and tofu banh mi sandwiches which were very flavorful and hit the spot for what we were looking for. The place is a no frills location tucked away in an office park. Ordering was easy and service was good. We came in during the lunch rush and there was a bit of a wait but the team did a great job managing. Worth a try if in the area!

The Sandwich Maker looks like a standard sandwich shop hidden in the back of a Los Gatos office complex but it has a twist. While it serves good versions of the Western style regulars (main board) it also offers a selection of very flavorful Banh Mi sandwiches (side board). I got a bbq pork Banh Mi served in a crunchy roll with all the trimmings. No pate offered so traditionalists take note. But .... Yummm! (See picture) The guy at the counter said they'd been there for 28 years and were part of the neighborhood. Given he knew half the folks who came in by name and where they'd just vacationed I'd say he's not exaggerating. He went on to plan a club meet up with the UPS driver (Mamma Kin's in SoFa). From what I saw today half came in for the Banh mi and half for the conversation. Oh ... the owner also handed out some ice cream snacks to all for free! Yep, I'll be back soon! (Closed on Sat/Sun)

This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it!! I got the shrimp pho which was FILLED with FLAVOR!! The shrimp were not peeled but it added an authentic touch ;) the broth was just incredible though. Food came out quick, service was great. There are not a lot of tables inside, but there is also outdoor seating so they can accommodate a few groups. Definitely will be coming back.

Great little place to grab lunch. The owner is very friendly and he's diligently working to clean up the chairs and tables, including the outside. It's a family affair with all the ladies working in the back of the kitchen. The place is nice and clean with no frills lots of pick up orders coming through, which is a good sign. Looks like they have bought me sandwich but I didn't have room to eat all three dishes. I tried the chicken phoa and it was very good. I really enjoyed the spring rolls. Majority of places do no longer include the Thai basil, but this one had it.

The dining area is spacious. Even with lots of tables, the space didn't feel cramped. There's a mechanical burger station against the wall too. Someone ordered a burger so I was able to see it in action. That was fun to watch. Everything we ordered, from the small bites to the dessert, was excellent! Rice Bites was tasty, and the rice had a good crunch. Truffle Fries was good, though I've had better. Caesar Salad was good as well. Shake'n Beef was tender with good flavor. As You Wish - the chicken was moist and delicious. The Ube sticky rice gave the dish a nice sweetness. Couch Potato cocktail paired well with the As You Wish entree. The chocolate dessert (can't remember the name) was very rich. Have with coffee. The banana dessert (can't remember the name either) was very good. Too easy to eat, very light and not too sweet. I will definitely be returning!

We made reservations for 7:30 PM on a Saturday and were surprised that only a few tables were occupied, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the entire staff was welcoming. A special shoutout to Sean and Taylor. Taylor was behind the bar and crafted some phenomenal cocktails that were easily one of the highlights of the evening. For food, we started with the mushrooms and crispy rice bites, both of which were fantastic and full of flavor. We also ordered the Burger Bot with fries. The concept was fun and unique, but the burger itself fell a bit short for us. The fries, however, were perfectly crispy and seasoned. While I wouldn't order the burger again, everything else we tried was spot on. Pricing felt appropriate for the area, and between the excellent drinks, delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and genuinely friendly staff, we'd absolutely come back. Next time, we'll just explore more of the menu and skip the burger.

The menu online and what we got slightly differed. At first glance the options feel limited to a typical Thai restaurant, but we loved everything that we ordered! My parents are hard to please, and also loved the food!! -Dragon Balls (5/5): deep friend minced chicken with added flavoring. It was really good! Could have used a side of sauce, but it disappeared quickly :) -spicy eggplant (5/5): I love eggplant dishes and this one did not disappoint. The spice was the right amount and didn't feel over the top. Since it's a side, it's a smaller portion -pad see ew (4/5): they warned us that they ran out of the wide noodles so we got thinner noodles, but the noodles had a toughness to each bite. The sauce and chicken were great -pad grr pow (5/5): I have never tried this before and we asked to make it spicy with tofu. I really loved it! It doesn't come with a side of rice -crab fried rice (4.6/5): I'm not a huge fan of crab but my husband raved about this rice and the butteriness of the crab. It was seasoned pretty mildly, so if that's something you like, it's one of their popular dishes! Overall really loved the food, the outdoor seating! Service is a bit slow on getting us plates before the apps, etc. But I would absolutely come again!

Disappointing Experience - Won't Be Returning…read more We really used to enjoy coming here--in fact, we were here exactly two weeks ago and had excellent service from a different waitress (who we didn't see tonight). Unfortunately, because of how we were treated tonight, we won't be returning. We arrived right when they opened at 4:00 PM today and specifically chose to sit outside at a table for six to stay in the shade. There were three of us--two adults and a child. The restaurant was not busy at all; in fact, it was completely empty except for us and one other person. Shortly after we sat down, a woman who appeared to be the waitress (or possibly the owner) began opening the top shades, exposing the tables to the direct sun--the exact thing we were trying to avoid. She then asked us to move to a smaller table. I asked if she could please pull the shades back over so our family wouldn't be stuck in the sun, but she refused. Her excuse was that she needed the shades open for when they turn on the patio heaters later. It was 81 degrees out, so forcing us to bake in the direct sun for heaters that weren't even needed made absolutely no sense. What made this double standard even worse was that the only other customer there--a woman sitting alone at another 6-seater table just waiting to place a to-go order--was completely left alone. There were plenty of seats outside the actual dining area she could have used, yet she wasn't asked to move or bothered at all. There was a very easy solution for us: the waitress could have just separated the two-seater table from the four-seater, allowing us to stay put out of the sun. Instead, she chose to target our family with a rigid ultimatum to either move to a different table in the direct sun or sit inside. The weather was beautiful, so we wanted to stay outside, just not sweating in the sun. The rigidness of her refusal, her bizarre excuse, and the clear discrimination in how we were treated versus the other customer in an empty restaurant left us feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Ultimately, we opted to just leave. It is incredibly disappointing to go from such a great experience two weeks ago to being made to feel so unwelcome by this individual. Good customer service matters, and we will be taking our business elsewhere.

I can't say enough about how consistently good the food has been here every single time we visit…read more As vegetarians, we especially love that they have a whole separate veggie menu with so many options to choose from. The drunken noodles and fried rice are always packed with flavor, and the fresh spring rolls are such a refreshing starter. This time we tried the Taiwanese bamboo shoot dish from the Chef's Recommendation section. It was definitely spicy, though not quite as fiery as the last time we had it. Maybe they toned it down a bit... or maybe we were braver last time We also ordered the Khao Soi, which was pretty decent. Fewer sides compared to some other places, but still really tasty overall. And honestly, one of the best parts? You can bring your own alcohol to enjoy with dinner, and there's no corkage fee Overall, such a great spot for vegetarian Thai food!

Worst service ever…read more My friend and I were dining at Golden Triangle when, in the middle of our meal, an older lady server came to our table and told us we had 30 minutes to finish our food or move to another table. This was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. We were paying customers actively eating our dinner. Being rushed in that manner was disrespectful and completely unacceptable. I have never been treated this way at any restaurant. At the end of the meal, I made it clear to her that her behavior was wrong and that customers should not be treated this way. Because of this experience, I will not be returning.

I'm not sure if I like this or not just quite yet…read more DoorDash has a special on an, open late night noodle delivery, with a special 20% off up to $5 special to promote. Why not? I honestly didn't know what to get so I did build your own which started as $7.99, not including add ons of course. The options were intriguing, the price seemed standard, up until you get to the toppings, which made no sense on pricing. The first three toppings you choose are free. Everything else is $1 each, including a wedge of lime....? The most notable, is you definitely get a lot of Thai herbs, I highly suggest to make that one of your three free toppings. I picked tonkatsu with rice noodles, Pork Belly and Brisket as an additional $4 each. The three free toppings was the Thai Basil, the bamboo shoot and kimchi. It's important to understand that you have to boil water at home, they make you tap a disclaimer that the bowl arrives cold. What it doesn't tell you that the bowl arrives sideways in a tiny paper bag. The broth had spilled out of the lid and got onto everything inside the bag. They did give me candy though. After Cleaning up the mess, had a taste of the tonkatsu broth base and it was pretty good. The noodle was packaged into a small spiral ball, perfect amount I might add. Especially since I can't have much on keto. Everything was flavorful, from the herbs to the bamboo shoots to the kimchi (even though it was a tad small kimchi portion). But what made me not like this and I am still trying to determine if it added to the flavor or took away the experience. Both the pork belly and the brisket was cut into cubes. Maybe to disperse the flavors better? I had a difficult time trying to eat it. And that got annoying pretty quickly. Over all experience with the odd pricing, the messy package and the cut up meat, I would give 3.5 stars. But since I can't do half, I'll just round up to 4. For delivery and convenience(if you're at home or at a work place with water and microwave accessible) this is ideal for something quick. For an everyday thing with cut up meat, I don't think it's for me. I do suggest giving it a try, it was a pretty good deal. Cheers.
