Just switched to this Vet from my vet in Bothell ( just too far to drive ) . Every one from Hannah the receptionist to the vet techs and the doctors are friendly and knowledgeable and kind to both me and my nine year old dog. My dog had a fractured tooth ( molar) which they extracted. I thought the cost was very reasonable. She was always itching and the doctor suggested a change of diet - to a prescription diet. We did that about 3 months ago. Her coat is shiny, she doesn't scratch anymore and her hotspot on the tail is growing back! yay! read more

I'm pretty picky about who I take my dog too. I'm a dog groomer and dog trainer after all and have heard lots of horror stories from my clients and their pets before I got my own. I saw all the good reviews from yelp when they first opened and I almost always go for word of mouth when it comes to trying out new things. I've now been going to this vet for 2 years, from when I first got my puppy. So far, we had 2 annual exams and one visit for a hot spot my B.C. mix, Addy, was chewing on her tail. They can be a pretty penny and my husband and I don't make much money. However, we don't mind paying for quality and preventative care so that we don't have to pay way more in the long run. It's worth it and we know we're paying less this way. Our pup has been pretty darn healthy so far and maybe our vet has partly to do with it! It's also very cleanly... but not so sterile it seems unwelcoming, the whole staff is friendly, and everyone I've talked to knows what they're talking about.. no one gives me the run around. ever. Even though we haven't had any major non-routine visits, i feel safe in knowing that if we do we have the care that our dog will need. Dr. Shini, by the way, is really sweet and has a happy giggle. He seems like a sincere guy although I only got to see him on our first visit there before they also added Dr. Dietrich. She's nice too. read more

You don't even really need to read the rest of my review. Just know, this is the best vet you will find in the city, possibly the nation. Captain has gotten his regular checkups since we moved out here and it has never been anything but an extremely pleasant experience. Cappy actually doesn't hate coming here. Mostly because everyone there knows him and lavishes praise and treats. Seriously, he is big pimpin when he strolls up into MLVCC! When I scheduled his most recent checkup appt the regular Doc was on vacation during my available days. The friendly receptionist said that I could come in and have the back-up vet examine him. She said that she has filled in for them before and they really like her. I trust their judgment completely and I know that they would want to hire someone who they knew would impress their loyal customer base so I agreed. Dr. Cheryl (I think that was her name...sorry if it's not!) did an amazing job and Cap really liked her. I had some questions about dental scraping and she was very nice and answered all of them. If you need another example of their awesomeness- A while back, I had tried to get some frontline from the internet. I found a really good price and ordered it. They sent me an email saying that MLVCC denied the prescription. I called up, confused, and they said they never got any word from them. They also were confused because they said that frontline is over the counter. WTF? Oh well, too bad for the online company because when I called to straighten this out they offered to work with me on the price if I bought it through the vet's little mini store. A year and a half ago I took my cats to this clinic based on the good reviews - and had a good experience. Helpful and kind front desk staff, and a kind and knowledgeable vet. Fast forward to today when I was in need of my cat records - for the second time - after having moved across the country to the east coast. I sent an email asking if they could fax the records, and I was willing to pay a fee for the inconvenience. Without a hesitation, they sent the records and replied to my email that they did so. Now knowing I am no longer a possible customer because I don't live in the area - yet quickly and happily continuing to be the helpful clinic they were when I first went to them - made me stop everything and write this review. These are quality people that just care about people and their pets. I should've wrote a review after I went to them a year and a half ago - they deserved a good review then - so here it is finally. Great experience with them. We had to let our beloved dog go... Since she really didn't like to go to the vet, we wanted a vet to come to our house to make her comfortable for her last moment. Dr. Schini showed up on time, he and his assist really cared about us, gave us perfect personal space and timing. He and his assistant were very sincere. It must be hard for them to see pet owners and pets suffering the end of life situation but he knew exactly what he was doing and dealing. We are so happy that we asked Dr. Schini to come to our house for our precious dog's last moment. And they sent us sympathy card a few days later. I've been going to Maple Leaf Vet for almost two years now. They are always friendly and accomodating. My dog actually ENJOYS going there. I have primarily seen Dr. Schini but have met the new vet once as well. Both are very knowledgable and willing to take time to answer questions. Most importanly they and their staff have a great bedside manor with the animals. It's obvious they love what they do. I once met a couple on a weekend who's dog had been bitten at a local dogpark. Maple Leaf vet was closed but they were waiting for the doctor to arrive to stitch up their dog. Dr Schini had actually been at the dogpark with his own pet when he saw the accident and offered to come in and open his shop on his day off to care for their wounded friend. That's dedication... I recently moved to a new neighborhood that has many local vets. I now go out of my way to take my pet to Maple Leaf. You should too! read more

We ended up at this neighborhood clinic during a snow storm when we couldn't get to our existing vet. This ended up being the best decision for our geriatric dog & our family. Everyone at this clinic was beyond friendly, caring, and extremely informative. They were detailed with every step of the diagnostic journey. The staff here is full of big hearted people who were also very realistic & educational for us. Our dog has always been terrified of the vet yet every time we got close to the front door of Maple Leaf, she was pulling ahead of us & wagging her tail! We loved to see that she wasn't scared to go in regardless of the procedures she'd been through. We'd highly recommend this clinic & will trust them with all our further veterinary needs. read more

Never did I think I would ever be pulling shoe strings out of a dog's balloon knot or watching him take a deuce every morning to make sure it was quality shit. I also never thought he would piss on a lady at the doggie park, on our friend's Christmas tree or puppies at the doggie park. My first dog and it took me a while to finally get one... commitment issues I'm sure. The process was challenging, so even going to the vet was a little edgy for both of us. I can't say enough about the customer service. Made the whole process incredibly smooth. I do have to say they are on the pricey side when compared to all the vets in the area. We did eventually switch vets, but only because we moved to different neighborhood...and well maybe the half the price for most procedures did make a difference for a college student. I do miss this place and it was Niner's and my first vet. read more

I moved to Seattle in August, and no more than 10 hours after we'd moved into our new house, we came home to find out that one of our cats had gone missing. There was a faulty screen, which she fell out of. We searched the neighborhood for her for a full month before our neighbors found her at a friend's house, not 5 houses up from ours. I called Maple Leaf Veterinary Care Center the night we brought her home to see if they could fit her in for an appointment the next day to make sure she hadn't had more happen to her during her adventure than just losing weight. They called me back the next morning shortly after they opened and told me to bring Calliope by and the vet would check her out in between his scheduled appointments. I brought her in at about 10 a.m. that day, and they called me back to pick her up just two hours later. Happily, she was fine. She had picked up some fleas, lost an entire pound and gotten a couple of scratches on her ears and back paw, but other than that, she was perfectly healthy and happy to be home! Everyone at the office told me how lucky Calliope was to survive a month outside of her home in a new state and confirmed that she is, in fact, an incredibly sweet cat. They even gave her a toy to play with in her carrier while she waited to be seen by the doctor. This tale of kitty woe serves to illustrate just how service-oriented the folks at Maple Leaf are to their patients and their parents. Just wanted to add an update to my first review- this place really goes above and beyond. My cat had a tiny black mark on his chin that was starting to look kind of angry, so I brought him in on a Saturday just to see if it was anything to worry about. Not only did they take a look at it right away, the doctor saw my cat for a full check- with no appointment, about 20 minutes before closing time! My cat was not in the best spirits, and the entire staff was very helpful in making sure he got the care he needed, even though he was pretty fresh about it. They also mentioned that they remember him as having been a pretty good cat and that he did seem to be behaving somewhat out of character- which surprised me because they've only seen him twice before (kind of nice to know they care enough to remember). This really is as good as it gets! I've been going to Maple Leaf Veterniary for over three years now and year over year the service and friendly staff amaze me. Today I took our puggle Ted in for an ear infection and to update his shots, not only have their prices gone down but they also waived the physical exam fee for us which was great. Their prices can get up there but its true, you really do get what you pay for and I know that Ted is in fantastic hands. They are also are always on time, and if something is going to take a while they check in with you and let you know a head of time. A day after your appointment they even call you to check up and make sure everything is OK and you don't have any questions. Great service, excellent care and fantastic staff all around. We recently took one of our four cats here after a fight with one of the neighboring cats. See my review on the Cat Clinic of Seattle for all the lurid details of why we went looking for a new vet. Anyway, this place is great. They were able to get us in on an hour's notice. Everyone was knowledgeable and understanding: Melody, who was at reception, Julie, the veterinary assistant, and Dr. Dittirich, who examined Zach the cat. It is a small establishment with two veterinarians and very quiet. They treat both cats and dogs, and I was assured that if necessary I could use a different entrance when bringing the cats in. There was no pressure. We discussed options for treatment and decided on antibiotics and observation, which turned out to be the least expensive and totally noninvasive course of action. After a few days of this treatment, Zach is totally recovered. Our previous vet intended to perform anesthesia, operate, and change us $750. This cost us $87. I really appreciated that Julie called the following day to check in on Zach. I cannot remember when a vet or even one of my own doctors ever did that. Another plus is business hours. This clinic is open until noon both Fridays and Saturdays, a departure from many clinics that are closed on Saturday and often all day on Fridays. I will keep this review current as we switch our other three, Ponce, Pasha, and Tristan for their regular checkups and vaccinations. read more

This is the best vet I have ever had the pleasure to take my cat to. My cat is a bit on the evil side (every vet she's been to has scrawled MUZZLE on the top of her chart), so we decided to try Maple Leaf since one vet, Dr. Schini, is a behavioral specialist. He is the cat whisperer, according to the receptionist. And they were right. They knew before we came in not to take my cat's temperature (that part always upsets her), they allowed me to be the one to put her on the scale (which she behaved for), and to give her her vaccinations before conducting the exam. She was nice to the vet tech and nice to the doctor when she got her shots. I was SHOCKED. She didn't even try to bite them by the time they gave the second injection. Which I thought she'd figure out after the first one what was going on. She was good until the doctor tried pressing her stomach. She leaped off the table and hid behind a chair. The vet tech tried to pick her up, but she hissed. Dr. Schini said it was okay, we can pick up where he left off another time. But, she was doing so well with the doctor I chanced getting my arm bitten off and picked her up and put her back on the table. Without any biting or hissing, might I add! My cat then allowed the doctor to finish his exam before leaping back into the safety of her carrier. (She loves her carrier, the weirdo) The vet decided it might be a good idea to give her a light sedation so we can draw her blood, clip her back claws, and finish the physical examination (i.e. looking into her toothy mouth). We're definitely going to bring her back to do that. We're so thankful that for once a vet didn't think we were crazy for asking about sedating her for the serious parts of her yearly check-up! And at the end of the visit, they gave my cat a crinkle ball. She was very happy. What a nice vet office. They even called me the day after the appointment to see how she was doing after her vaccinations. This will be my cat's regular vet for as long as I live in Seattle. read more

After moving to a Seattle recently, I've been on the look out for a good vet for my furmily. After having a bad experience at a few other places (my family are vets so I am pretty picky), Maple Leaf was a welcome surprise. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and very COVID-safe. They didn't try to add on services when I brought my 10 year old pug in to get a lump checked like the other places did and were extremely cost effective. They even sent a thank you follow up card. Amazing, compassionate, super-kind are some terms that just begin to describe Dr. Karen and her staff. We have been taking our 2 cats to see her for almost 2 years. This is a place where you get more than medical care for your pet. You develop relationships with the entire office. Everyone there clearly loves what they do. They always take the time to listen and answer any questions or concerns. You never feel rushed and you always receive the best quality care. Last night Dr. Karen helped us through one of the most difficult times in our lives as our Cat was dying from cancer. Her presence and the care that she gave to our Hisser will never be forgotten, nor will the kindness in delaying her visit until our entire family could be together. I love the care our two dogs get at Maple Leaf. The staff is excellent - wonderful communication with reminders the day before and a check-in 1-2 days after if we bring in one of the dogs for a sick visit. They clearly love animals and both our dogs get fawned over every time they go for a check-up. We can almost always get a same-day or next-day appointment, which is an added bonus. I absolutely adore our vet, Dr. Teyssier. She is so smart, wonderful with pets, thorough in her physical exams, great at explaining what she's thinking and what she wants to do, and thoughtful about choosing diagnostic studies. The facility is beautiful and always clean, and I really appreciate the educational posters around the office. One of the dogs has expensive teeth problems and we always get a little worried about procedure costs. The owner was gracious enough to allow us to pay in two installments so that the cost didn't hit us too hard but our baby was able to get the procedure he needed. We're going to have to leave Seattle in about 8 months, and I just wish we could take this vet office with us! read more

We first went to the Maple Leaf Vet Care Center soon after we came to Seattle about six years ago. Dr. Schini and his staff have taken good care of our uncooperative lively dog (now 9) and of our ancient 19 year-old cat. Today Dr. Schini and Sam(antha) came to our house to put our dear old cat to sleep. She had been in for a checkup a few days before that showed her kidneys were very bad. Then as she peed indiscriminately around the house, we hoped for a miracle, but to no avail. Her death was quick and painless with no trauma as she just stayed in her own familiar bed for a quick injection of a relaxant and then in my lap for the final moments. I've been bringing my dogs to this clinic for about 11 years, despite the clinic moving and myself moving farther away. Everybody here is just lovely including the reception staff, vet assistants/techs, and the veterinarians. We started out with Dr. Schini who was always extremely patient and kind with my pups. Most recently receiving really thoughtful top-notch care from Drs. Yanik and Baines. One of my now senior dogs has recently had multiple health problems (difficult to control diabetes, multiple infections, cataracts) and has a history of vaccine reactions. She's kind of an adorable mess. This team really cares about my dog! They know Sunshine by name when I call in, and the vets work together to discuss her care when there is difficult medical decision-making. I so appreciate them. Bonuses: The clinic is impeccably clean. Everyone is very professional. They have a few dedicated parking spots (I've always been able to get one) and easy street parking. It probably isn't the least expensive clinic, but I am willing to pay for their quality. read more

IN REPLY TO DR SCHINI'S RESPONSE Doctor Schini, here is a paragraph of an email you sent me, trying to explain why you felt it was "awkward" "As I mentioned previously, I think there was also another misunderstanding. We are being put in an awkward spot when evaluating test results performed elsewhere. Do we know if the other clinic knows we are trying to interpret tests they have performed? Will our colleagues be offended? Are they going to feel that their judgment and skills are being questioned? Would there be an impact on our professional relationships if they are? Should we be tasking staff with making phone calls to individual owners and then other clinics to find out the answers to these questions or more expeditiously having the interpretation provided directly to the client by the doctor that ran and charged for the tests? On a limited basis this may not be a big deal but multiply it by numerous clients and multiple doctors and it becomes a significant issue. Perhaps try to think of it as you would with tests performed on ourselves by our physicians. If I were to have tests run on myself by Physician A but ask Physician B to evaluate the results then the latter is missing physical information Physician A had and may feel professionally slighted." You wrote an entire paragraph on why you felt it was unprofessional. Also you keep stating that you need to physically evaluate the dog when testing..... YOU DID! We brought him in, you examined him, did a mange test (I stand corrected, you did tell me you ran a mange test at the time), and stated additional test were not needed. That is when I asked if there was any additional test we could do, specifically asking for blood test. Come on now, you are skewing the information and being misleading. read more

Been coming here for 8 years and it is always kept exceptionally clean. The staff is beyond incredible with a genuine love for animals. My dog is very nervous and shy going to vet appointments and they do a wonderful job taking their time to let my dog feel at ease. Even after trying to find a vet closer to home I came back to Maple Leaf due to the care and attention to detail they provide as well as reasonable pricing. Just for the fact that the vet was generally a nice guy it gets 2 stars, I have had great experiences before with the same vet.. She is wonderful. Traveling with my dog to Atlanta we came to get a health certificate to fly which I have done before having been raised by parents who owned a humane society. Charged for a health certificate and then Dr. Schini I believe comes to the counter and tells the receptionist.. Also an exam.. Wtf.. I have never been charged for a exam also paying well over a hundred dollars just for him to fly with me ?!!? My friends vet charges 45 and doesn't charge am extra 60 for the exam of a healthy dog! i'll let you in on a little secret. you know you're going to a great vet practice when your dog does the happy dance every time he comes in the door. microchip placement, neutering, vaccinations, scary post-surgical cone...it doesn't matter, they do it all with a smile & the pooch wriggles in abandon. Drs Schini & Dittrich are very caring, gentle & want you to understand the rationale behind what they do. Melodie & the rest of the staff are gems who love animals as much if not more than the lucky people who get to bring their little fuzzies here. we never had to deal with unreasonable waits and they were able to get us in quickly for urgent visits. their prices were also lower-middle of the road for Seattle & i never felt pushed to do tests. now, if i can only find their doppelgangers roaming around in Portland because the new vet had the pooch glued to my side with his tail between his legs but that's an upcoming pdx review.... read more

This place just opened earlier this summer. I had been using Green Lake Animal Hospital, but decided to try Maple Leaf VCC because they were so close to my house. I'm glad I did. My dog hurt her paw and Dr. Schini was very thorough in his checkup, explained everything to me fully, answered all my questions, and had a great "bedside" manner. They even gave my dog a bone and called the next day to check up on her. They were also very reasonably priced compared to Green Lake. I've now switched over my other animals to this vet and got the same level of service with them. Highly recommended. read more

Probably the best vet clinic I have ever taken a pet to. Dr. Schini is not only a very sincere and compassionate animal lover, but he is also very thorough, knowledgable and hands-on: he will personally call to follow up on your animal and to explain anything and everything about medications and procedures. On that Friday when the clinic had no electricity after the Big Storm of '06, they remained open and went through with my dog Gracie's appointment which to me is just above and beyond great customer service. Dr. Schini alsotakes time to clearly explain your pet's health and medical procedures. They phone you after the visits to see how your "patient" is doing. I took my dog here after he developed a hot spot that needed antibiotics and due to the icy roads I didn't want to drive all the way to our old vet. They got us right in and we saw Dr. Dittrich, who was very nice and not rushing through the appt like some vets I've gone to. After my good experience and realizing that my old vet has changed owners and is no longer taking walk-ins (and you can rarely get same day appts apparently), this will be my primary vet. read more

These people take good care of my Midder Pinkie. Communication is great. They told me how much everything would cost and provided different options. They provided lots of information so I could make an informed choice. The doctor made multiple attempts to contact me, so we could discuss a treatment plan. He wasn't overly aggressive recommending treatments. Example: Mr. Pink was losing weight. They did a blood test and found a problem with his liver. Instead of expensive ongoing treatment they suggested that we give it some time and change his food. It worked! A few months later Mr. had gained some weight and had no sign of liver problems. I took in my pup just today and got Dr. Schini he was sooo nice and sweet to my pup. I could tell he wanted to be gentle and caring with my pup which i really appreciated. The staff were extremely nice and made me feel welcomed. They also made sure my pup was nice and warm which was kind of them (It was snowing when we came in lol). Um i'm not entirely sure why i'm not giving 5 stars but that's not too downplay on the vet or the staff. I never write reviews. They say one bad experience, you tell 10 people. And a good experience you only tell 5. Trust me, I've had my share of bad experiences! And still never wrote a review. But with how great my experience was, I felt I had to share. I have a 16 yr old min pin that was having some pain in her mouth. She was not eating so I had to take her somewhere. With a good recommendation and believe me Lots of research, I brought her to Maple Leaf. Thank god I did. They were so great! Dr. Myers did her exam. I have to say I'm a pretty good judge of character, and she was amazing! Especially dealing with me, someone who has been scarred w/ bad experiences. Then there was Dr.Schini, who actually did my dogs surgery. He was exactly the kind of guy you would want your animal to be in the hands of. Very kind, caring, and honest! In fact as I'm writing this, they just called to check up on my little girl. Need I say more! With that said, I couldn't imagine taking my pets anywhere else! read more

We've had nothing but great experiences with Maple Leaf Vet. Dr. Schini really takes the time to explain his findings and seems genuinely interested in the welfare of my dog. What really struck me was that we were inadvertently overcharged on one visit (not known to us). On our next visit, he let us know about and applied it as a credit to us. We have taken our dogs here since we moved to Seattle in 2008. When our dog K.K. was at the end of his life because of lung cancer a month ago, we had Dr.Schini come to our house to perform an at-home euthanasia. Dr.Schini and his assistant were completely professional but never made us feel rushed, and made the procedure as smooth as possible. We are so grateful MLVCC provides this service, so K.K. could pass away quickly and without pain, surrounded by people he knew and in his own home. read more

I've been meaning to write this for a very long time- but these folks saved our dog, Lola. We had been taking her to a different vet recommended by the shelter we adopted her from; she started having issues where she was making messes but not eating- even people food! The vet couldn't figure out the issue, by sheer chance we had just received her microchip info in the mail with the name of the vet that chipped her- Maple Leaf. We thought maybe they had some health history. We set up the appointment and called ahead to ask about the issues- they gave us suggestions and then set up a fast appointment. Dr. Schini figured out the issue really quickly- Addison's disease! She had started an Addison's crash and we almost lost her- but with the meds she immediately improved and is well maintained on medication to this day- 5 years later! We have since moved to Puyallup and still make the drive every month to Maple Leaf- the doctors and staff are all wonderful and really care about the animals they work with. I would recommend Maple Leaf Vet to anyone- we will never go anywhere else! read more
