I went for Valentine's Day and it was a bit crowded but not too bad, the wait was about a hour. The place isn't that big but they do have an enclosed patio area. I enjoyed jumbo shrimp and lobster with garlic mash potatoes, my husband had the creole shrimps. The appetizers we had were tasty as well, fried pickles and BBQ shrimps. The drinks were to die for, I had a zombie (fruity cocktail) hubby had a jamieson. A welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Maple Tree Inn- newly relocated to Homewood, Illinois. Great atmosphere. Incredible food. Good service. I was a frequent visitor to the original location in Blue Island. Became a fan then and was very curious to know if they would still be the same. Two thumbs up- but I remember the drinks to be a bit more... voodoo! Ha. Either way- you are appreciated and I wish you a long run here in Homewood! A must visit! read more

This place has an amazing atmosphere, with great staff to match. Everything started off great. The crab cake was great, my fiancé loved her gumbo. We personally couldn't believe how great it was for this hidden gem. The out entrees came and I had the Brisket. She order the catfish with picked peppers. I was completely let down with how dry the brisket was. It lacked a lot or flavor and the bark was great instead of black as if they boiled it or steamed it. I ended only eating the mashed potatoes and sent back the actually meat and was still charged for it. They sent out Beignets to comp, but these little pastries tasted of wayyyyyyyyy to much yeast. How ever the bartender was a great help, she kept a great attitude. I don't know if this was just a bad night, but I do want to give this place a second change for being so close to my house. read more

Good is really good. The catfish is my favorite, wish they had a few different sides to choose from but other than that it's good.

Glad we ran across Maple Tree Inn! Nice ambiance, good portion sizes, reasonable prices, and great service. We hadn't heard anything about this restaurant, so we didn't have any expectations. Surprisingly, the food is southern, like New Orleans style and had a very nice taste. Much better than restaurants like Dixie Kitchen. My jambalaya was really good and I loved the cornbread! Morgan was our waiter and did a fantastic job. He was very personable, attentive, and patient...he was also informative and provided good recommendations. Some of the worst food, I have eaten in a long time. When the restaurant was in Blue Island, it was excellent. Tried a carry out when they moved to Homewood, I blamed it on being a carry out, so thought we would give it another chance, what a mistake. Our server was great. The food, from fried oysters, gumbo to our entree, was terrible. I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but this time our $200 was completely wasted. Never again read more

Oh my gosh, what a gem! Impeccable service! The staff was really friendly, knowledgeable about everything on the menu. If the waiter didn't know, he asked the chef and was back in less than a minute. (The catfish is from Texas, in case you're wondering.) Fantastic food! We got the special chicken n waffles appetizer, fried catfish, and honey barbecue shrimp. I came here for my friend's birthday. Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised there was a nice Cajun restaurant like this in Homewood. I enjoyed the music and ambiance which brought back pleasant memories of New Orleans. We ordered fried oysters as an appetizer with pickled cantaloupe on top. The pickled cantaloupe was a great pair with the oysters. The only thing I didn't like was some of the oysters were very chewy. I also had the Redfish ettoufee which was tasty. The fish was a little overcooked and I felt the side dish of rice could've been more. I definitely enjoyed the Zombie drink. Very tasty. Overall the staff was nice and the food was decent. Although there are some opportunities it's a nice place and I will visit again. read more

On September 27, 2020, my wife and I dined at Maple Tree Inn Homewood. The discrepancy occurred when the dining bill arrived. The server, named Cortez, alerted me that our bill was charged $73.82, however, he informed me that he mistakenly charged another patron's bill in the amount of $195.36 to my card. This action is beyond a common mistake, it's pure negligence and incompetence. Consequently, my wife and I attempted to speak to the manager to address the erroneous transaction. Unfortunately, the manager wasn't helpful in rectifying this issue with any sense of importance. The manager's snide response to the incident was, "Well what compensation do you think I should do". This dining experience resulted in frustration, anger and disappointment. An example of poor service ruining a dining experience!!! read more

Unique and a diamond in the rough. You would not expect this little gem tucked away in the heart of old Blue Island. While the neighborhood has gone through many years of change, the Maple Tree Inn remained the same. They've suffered a major fire which caused a total loss and demolishin of the building, but I've been assured THEY WILL REBUILD! read more

I had been hearing about this restaurant so I decided to stop by and check it out. The lighting is dim and it is a small, intimate restaurant. The staff were nice and the service was quick. The food was not so impressive. I got the jambalaya. It was a pretty good portion size with lots of meat but the flavor was bland. I don't think I'll be returning. read more

The new building houses the same great flavors as the old site. The catfish was not over seasoned or over fried. The oysters bienville were flavorful. The alligator soup was no imposter!! Then for dinner had fried chicken with some kind of really delicious glaze drizzled on with a side of Mac and cheese (Which is never my favorite, but I loved it). I've been here several times and it's about time I sat down and wrote a review. Maple Tree Inn is a New Orleans themed restaurant located on old Western Avenue in Blue Island. Everything about this place screams NOLA. The interior, the drink menu, and the entrees all make you feel as if you are in the Big Easy. Drinks: The bar changes craft beers out periodically. There's no less than 24 beers on tap at all time. Check online for the current lineup. On my most recent visit I enjoyed several Revolution Crystal Hero IPA. Delicious! Zombie Dust is also featured quite frequently. The drink menu is outstanding. Maple Tree Inn's drink menu is designed by their very own mixologist and it shows. Try a Pimm's No. 1 Cup, a Whiskey Smash, Stormy Night, etc. You will enjoy them all. Appetizers: Jalapeno corn bread is terrific. Voodoo nuts are just as good. However, get the deep fried pickles. They are served piping hot but when bitten are full of flavorful juicy pickle. Yes!!! Entrees: I'm not a big fan of seafood but even someone like myself can find a great entree on the menu here. The Tower of Pork is flavorful but I prefer the Braised Beef Brisket or Blackened Prime Ribeye. On my most recent visit Erich offered Chicken and Waffles as a special. You will not be disappointed with any of these options. Remember, I hate seafood so there are many other entrees that I am not qualified to comment on. Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake is good. Beignets (weekends only) are available too. However, the best item on the menu is Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Eat a slice and order one to go. If you've never been here you must try it. It's gourmet quality NOLA food in a historic neighborhood that quite frankly could use more places like this. I recommend making reservations. If you do make them arrive early and sit at the bar for a bit. The staff is great. From the hostess to the bartenders to the waiters everyone is pleasant and knowledgeable. I've been served by John the last couple times and have been very happy. The price is right too. There were four of us on my last visit. Drinks, apps, entrees, deserts, etc. ran about $240 with tip. That's one hell of a deal for a great dining experience. The same meal would likely run you $400 in downtown Chicago. The crowd is mixed too. Everyone respects each other and there are no problems. Great food brings the world together. Again...I don't like seafood. People who do like seafood are thrilled with the Crab Boil, Gumbo, and a bunch of other entrees that I can't pronounce. Parking is available on the street but there is also a large lot at the end of the block. Maple Tree Inn - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Anniversary dinner was delicious. I had the ribs. Excellent! Tender and well seasoned. Served with sauce on the side and you don't really need the sauce. They give you a huge portion. I couldn't eat half. Husband had the blackened crawfish etouffee. He said it was excellent as well. He went to college in New Orleans and enjoyed the nostalgic feeling. read more

My experiences here have never been short of amazing! The food is always absolutely delicious and although you will experience a wait during prime times, it is worth the the wait and that wait gives you the perfect opportunity to sample one of their hand-crafted cocktail masterpieces or sip on a craft beer. Their bartender, Emily, has a definite skill in her libation creations. I had her Ancho whiskey sour this weekend and the cocktail was utterly fantastic. My friend and I split the crab cake as an appetizer and we were both tempted to lick the remoulade sauce off of the plate. She had the jambalaya and it was bubbling with N'awlins flavor and I had the brisket cakes which were fantastic. I selfishly don't want to add to their amazing reviews to keep this place my secret favorite spot but the word is out on them already and they deserve the kudos! read more

I ordered the fried oysters and found the oysters tasty. However, for the $16 price, I was expecting more than only four small oysters. I also ordered the Redfish Etouffee topped with crawfish to be far too salty. This was served with two reasonably sized filets of Gulf Snapper . The vegetable served and rice were about a tablespoon of green beans and rice each. This was priced about $27. The total bill with a soft drink was $50. I feel that the total bill was about $16 overpriced. Maple Tree Inn a few years back had a price fix menu with dessert which was totally priced at $22. I would like to see this restaurant return to those days. read more
