We have a State Water heater which it turns out is not the best kind of water heater to have when something goes wrong since they have proprietary parts that can not be ordered unless you go directly through a State distributor. On Christmas eve our pilot light wouldn't stay lit and thus had no hot water. I called Dave at Maple Valley Plumbing at 10:00 pm on the 23rd just to leave a voice mail to see if he could possibly come by on Dec 24th to check out the problem. He called me back in 5 minutes and came out to our house at 8:30am on Christmas Eve! He did a little research on our brand of water heater and found a potential solution that wouldn't require any new parts....just cleaning the corrosion off of the burner element and then put it back together. Tada! Hot water heater is functioning again. It is 10 years old, so not expecting it to last too many more years. He even gave us a credit for the money spent for his labor to go towards the purchase of a new hot water heater when it is time to replace. Our old 1950s plumbing finally failed. Never EVER EVER call Southwest Plumbing! My husband called them to deal with the initial emergency and they were incredibly expensive and they provided a solution that, in the end, wasn't efficient. We called Dave at Maple Valley Plumbing to come out and do the remaining (bulk) of the work and we couldn't be more satisfied. For the same price that the other company bid to complete one section of the work, Dave was able to do that work as well as replace all of our galvanized pipes, switch out our water heaters for tankless, replace our outdoor water bibs, added another one with hot/cold and he included additional fixes for issues identified as he found them! His crew showed up when they said they would, they were polite, careful and knowledgeable. I am so happy to finally have a reliable plumbing company I can trust. Dave undoubtedly knows what he is doing, but he was extremely disagreeable and short with me when I tried to inquire why he wanted to charge 3-4 grand labor for a 2-3 hour install. I remain very upset with him as I type this review. I had looked up replacement units, they range from 1200 - 1600. Because it is preplumbed, requiring only minor adaptations for the inlets/outlets, the websites estimate 2 hours labor. I was willing to pay for 3-4 hours. His quote was 6000. When I asked how much of the quote much was labor he said "I don't break it down that way". That's it. Then he walked away. I suspect this man has been able to up charge because of Covid and he just cherry picks his clients, but I don't know. I do know that's a huge pile of money. I have scheduled multiple other contractors to bid, I will see if he is an outlier or the "new normal" If you call him, be prepared to pay. A lot. I was not. read more

The business owner Dave is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He put us on their schedule right away. Justin and Tucker arrived friendly and professional. They got the job done except for one part that needed to be ordered. Dave said not to worry and that he would send his guys back out (no extra charge) to finish the job. They gave me a fair price and outstanding service. I had estimates from some of the big companies and was frustratd at their prices. Our water heater needed replacing. Dave gave me quotes for both tank and tankless water heaters. After getting multiple quotes and researching DIY, I called Dave.
