Found a cute lunch spot within walking distance of the convention center (approximately 3 min walk). This place is so stinking cute! Use the right door to enter and grab a menu. Once you get to the front, you place your order and then put your menu in the basket. Love the mix of causal and cute with a sit down vibe. My colleagues and I ordered the chopped salad and the goddess greens. You can add a protein - various skewers are available. I ordered the salmon skewers! They were made perfectly and a great add on to my goddess greens salad. To start, we got the chips and guacamole. Everything was delivered to our booth except beverages. There is a water/drink station, which I love! You can fill a bottle with water or just a glass. This made it easy for our table. I liked the vibe here. The staff was friendly and accommodating . Lots of interesting combos for a brunch type meal. I stood in line for awhile just thinking about options. I ended up with the roasted chicken sandwich w/ aioli it came with a side salad I added fries, and a double chocolate cookie for later. The cookie was packaged in one of those paper bags and I actually ordered the last one. My tip: If you see it as you go through the line order it . It may not be there later. It was a hearty sandwich with a bit of a surprise inside . As I was chewing I bit down on a green bean and when I opened the top of the sandwich I saw two more.I'm used to greens in Cali, but I've never had green beans in a chicken sandwich . Ohio thing? My friends and I visited Maplewood Kitchen and Bar for Saturday brunch. The restaurant style is you order and pay first then seat yourself. I ordered the Chicken Hash which was okay. They forgot I requested a fried egg and had to recook the poached one they brought out. The chicken was a little dry and not seasoned enough. Overall the food was okay. My friend really liked the omelette and the pancakes were good. There was no table service. If you wanted to order anything or get a refill on a drink you have to go to the bar. Maplewood is very cute inside. The concept reminds me SO much of Northstar Cafe in Columbus. I ordered the omelette that come with a salad. The omelette was hearty and filled up, which I love. The salad was kinda lame :( Not a big portion and not enough dressing. I would've enjoyed a different side. There wasn't a waiter who checks on you and I was stuck in the middle of a big booth of eight so I sucked it up. I tried my friends pancakes which were huge and tasted great. I came in here off the recommendation of a coworker and Yelp reviews. Up front, I have to say I wasn't super impressed...it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. I walked up to order my food and I was literally the only person in line, there were 2 people behind the counter and they both ignored me for about 2 minutes. After I was finally acknowledged they said "hold on a minute, someone will be along to help you..." and walked off. Another 2-3 minutes goes by and a lady finally walks up, but doesn't even say hello to me, she just started messing around with the register. FINALLY she greets me and asks what I'd like, but not in a very friendly way. I order the eggs my way and ask for a water as well. She doesn't even hear me because she handed me my order number and walked off. Customer service was very poor! The food came out pretty quick and the presentation was good, although the description said 3 eggs and it looked like there was barley 1 there. Bacon was good, thick cut and tasty. The hash browns were crispy and good. The toast looked like it was maybe 2 inches by 2 inches, incredibly small pieces. All the food items were tasty and I enjoyed it overall, just wish there was more. I never did get my water, and I never got to ask for one after I sat down because no one was around to ask, or even ask how everything was. I can't say this was a great experience, and honestly next time I'm around here I'll probably look somewhere else to eat. read more

This restaurant is set up so that your party orders at together at the counter and receives one number for the table, yet each person in the party can pay their portion separately. Once you get your number, you bring it to a table (we were told which table to sit at) and a server brings your food to you once it is prepared. We were asked several times if we had ordered and why we were sitting at the booth we were, so it seems like the servers and cashiers might need to work on their communication to avoid any confusion in the future. Other than that, food was delicious and came out not long after ordering. Everything was flavorful and the portion sizes were generous. Wow! I was in Cincinnati, overnight for work, and looking for somewhere nearby for lunch. So glad that I chose this place! I arrived just before the lunch crowd, ordered at the counter, given a number, and found a nice table by the window. My food arrived a short time later. The Mediterranean bowl was excellent. Brown rice/quinoa mix, fresh tomatoes, sliced radishes, yummy hummus, topped with crunchy chickpeas. I also added chicken. The combination was delicious, each ingredient was flavorful and plentiful. This place may have great food but it's a downer on service. My wife and I stopped by before the Reds game and we noticed plenty of empty tables. So we walked in the host was pouring drinks at the door, when I asked for a mimosa he said,"in a minute".The way this works is you stand in line looking at a menu while you're waiting for a drink, which never came, you order at the kitchen, get a number and wait for a table. This place was a joke, rude host , no AC , it was very hot, and a crowded line. I guess they don't want to pay servers. What a terrible experience before you even get mediocre food. read more

The food was a m a z i n g. Not a food that you can get easily from a restaurant. It had a combination of western style + little bit of Asian + little bit of Mexican feeling, which was very nice. The only downside was the egg. I usually like it sunnyside up, but the egg was just too dry. Not because of the yolk, but the egg itself was very dry. Water/drink is self served, which I like because I drink a lot of water, and sometime I get thirsty when our server doesn't come to our table often. It was a pleasant experience that we were able to enjoy our food without worrying about things like that. The view/mood is excellent as well. read more

I loved this place! If I could decorate my apartment like this I would, but sadly I can't because I don't own my apartment It had a contemporary, modern, minimalist look. When you walk in, I was unsure if you got seated or had to walk up. There were a group of women in front of us just standing. I think my brother has been to this place before so he knew you had to walk up. We ended up asking the women if we could walk around them. When we did, they didn't know either about going up to order. So TIP: Walk up. You order first. If you're dining in, they give you a buzzer and tell you to wait by this long standing table across from the ordering area because someone will seat you. Suggestion for business: Perhaps place stools or a bench but for those that need to sit. We were with our parents and they wouldnt be able to stand for more than 10 minutes. Luckily, we didn't have to wait for a table and got seated immediately. If you order coffee, they give you mugs and you serve yourself from 3 choices of coffee. Water was also serve yourself. They provide glasses and empty glass bottles that you can fill up and bring to the table. I loved being able to pick between sparking, still, and cold water. They even had lemons slices there. My parents were confused as to why I was the one serving them their coffee and water I said they should tip me. FOOD: the real reason you are reading this. Chicken Tinga Chicken Hash (without goetta) Pastel Omelet Ponzu Salmon Bowl Extra Hash Brown Chicken Tinga: My Dad got this dish. He's not a very critical man when it comes to food. He liked it, but wasn't impressed much. I don't eat meat so I can't elaborate on this dish. Pastel Omelet: I really liked it. I loved the asparagus; it was different. There was a little oil water coming out from the mushroom but it didn't make the dish taste bad. It just wasn't visually appealing. Coffee: Great! All of them! Free refills so go try! Chicken Hash (without Goetta): because Goetta is made from pig and we don't eat pork or anything from a pig. My brother said it was good. It was a decent size dish, but nothing too special. Trendy but with substance, Maplewood is a super cool concept. We walked in to immediate mimosas at the door and a line of menus on the wall. Confusing at first but then we quickly realized we were to order first and then be seated. I like this concept because it's like you're in control but you're still treated with great hospitality. While hubs poured our coffee, we were seated at a great window spot up front. It felt classy! As for the food, I was a little underwhelmed with the lemon ricotta pancakes. Flavor was great but they were tougher to cut than most pancakes and lacked moistness. However, the compote was to die for; I'd happily take home a jar of this stuff. Hubs enjoyed his eggs your way and the hash browns looked delicious; I'd order them next time. Coffee was a high point, it was very good and I'd love to know where they order their coffee from! They were very much so on the sweet side. I don't mind sweet but I'm glad we also ordered something savory to balance it out. The maplewood hash was not as great as I'd hoped. Flavor was lacking a bit, but I added some ketchup too it and it was perfectly fine after that. The bourbon blackberry lemonade was good, and my friend enjoyed her cortado.
