I really hate to be a stereotype, but I don't enjoy dealing with the vehicle maintenance. I used to be fine with it, but in Reno, the dealership service department is huge; it's like a giga Costco of auto shop; moreover they routinely messed up the services, like charging for one thing and didn't do the thing they charged for. The last time I brought it in, they didn't even turn off the "maintenance required" warning! So I really wanted to find a smaller, honest shop I can rely on, and in tern if anything is done wrong I could come back to talk about it. MAPT responded to my inquiry very quickly and with enough information. They took care of the issues that the dealership service dept messed up. It's a bit too soon to tell, but I'm hopeful that I've found my auto shop going forward. I'd rather support an honest local small business anyway. read more

I sent a message out explaining what I needed done and the details of my vehicle and the owner of MAPT got a hold of me through the messenger. I basically just needed a brake inspection and my serpentine belt replaced since it's been while since it was replaced. I also added that my vehicle was a stick shift since there are a lot of people out there who don't know how to drive a stick shift. Other businesses also replied but some of them had low ratings and I did not want to put up with that kind of headache later on. The business (MAPT) is located at the corner of a strip mall. You can miss it if you're not paying attention. I almost got it mixed up with another auto mechanic business that shares the same building. So I decided to stop in Monday morning. I met with the owner at the front desk and he remember our conversation. It took about a couple hours for the work. I just opted to sit and wait in the lobby. The good thing is that there are restaurants close by if you wanted to kill time and get something to get or drink. There is also a Quick Stop within walking distance if you just wanted something to grab and go. They were very thorough with the inspection of my vehicle and even took photos and notes for future maintenance. They advised me of what I should get fixed in the future. Being an older vehicle, I know there were a few things that should get worked on and replaced. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service I received. The cool thing is, I think this chick did the work on my vehicle. And she knows how to drive a stick! read more

This place rocks! Everyone so friendly and upfront about their services/costs. Very timely on service and my car has never been running better! I brought my mini cooper in because a screw got stripped and we couldn't get out the part we needed to. They were able to get it done quickly and replace the part that we needed to be fixed. The next week I scheduled an oil change and brought my car in around noon. They got it done quickly and my car has been running fantastic ever since. They have this neat service where they will send a quote right to your phone so you know immediately an estimate of the services. Big shout-out to Matthew and his technician at MAPT Automotive! I recently took my 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe in for a check-up. Not knowing when or what maintenance had been done, I was expecting a big bill. They confirmed that the services I expected to need had recently been performed. Only service needed was an oil change. They inspected my vehicle and pointed out a couple of things I should be aware of in the future. Nothing major--after all, the car is 10 years old. I've never had a mechanic who saved me money. I came in because my check engine light came on along with a weird noise and immediately Matt figured out what was wrong and got everything done quickly while keeping me in the loop. My 2004 Sebring has a constant grinding/rumbling noise in the front end as I drive, increasing when I turn to the left. I went to MAPT to have it fixed. Their diagnosis to fix the noise was to replace the front brake pads and rotors and struts and bushings. This didn't seem logical to me but I figured they knew what they were talking about and agreed to the brake job after again being told that this would end the grinding. MAPT charged me $385.20 for the brake job which I had to pay before I could get my car back. I drove it away and the grinding noise was still there, exactly as before. I emailed the owner Matt and told him that this is not what I expect from a good auto repair shop, and I questioned the diagnosis, pointing out that if there was some logical reason why the brakes would be causing the noise, I would expect his guys to see some evidence of the metal to metal or some cause and effect when they got into the brake job (they should have seen it as part of the diagnosis). But MAPT's brake job diagnosis was just a guess with zero physical evidence or logic to back it up. I asked for a partial refund of $150 since they didn't fix the problem. Matt's reply was he would give no refund and that I needed to have new struts, control arm bushings, and sway bar end links. I asked him to explain how these "worn" parts could cause grinding noises when driving and he never responded. He was again expecting me to pay even more hundreds of dollars for side-issues that still wouldn't fix the original problem. BTW, my old rotors were not gouged and yet MAPT charged me for new ones since the shop "doesn't have a rotor resurfacing machine." MAPT also charged me $33.23 for "shop supplies." That's a lot of paper towels and spray cleaner. MAPT seems to have no problem with mis-diagnosing the cause of the problem the customer comes to them to fix since they can make big profit by "fixing" those mis-diagnosed side problems. All while expecting customers to pay and not complain. read more

Service at MAPT is great. They send you texts with pics and the ability to approve or decline any work from your phone. They recommended needed services in addition to the reasons prompting my visit originally and provided detailed notes and pics with each recommendation. Really appreciated the forthright and detailed nature of everything they offered. The ONLY disappointment for me is the listed cost of the parts they used compared with those same parts online: OES hub cap online lists the price as $65.83 w/ free delivery, they charged me $106.99 for the part. OES steel wheel is available from manufacturer for $125 (w/ shipping), they charged me $140. Shop supplies fee was $74. All of these prices were listed in the estimate and I approved them, so it's not a dig against the business. Just disappointed that these cost me more than if I'd grabbed them. read more

Bring my Tesla model 3 to check the radiator leaking. Paid the $75 diagnostic fee . Four out the repair cost more than Tesla dealerships! And lost my protection plate underneath the car . Called them they said yes and forgot to put it back . Which is cost me an extra trip to go back and have it put back ! For the $75 fee I paid they should refund me! read more

I am very disappointed in this place. They seem to lack customer service and take advantage of people. I went in for an oil change and of course they found other things wrong with the car. It doesn't seem to matter when you schedule an appointment because they will take forever to fix your car and not communicate with you on what's going on. I spent alot of money on rental cars and lyft expenses due to their delays and they did not offer to help reimburse me. Even though this mistake was their fault. I spent a decent amount of money to get My power steering replaced and they took over two days on it. Then once I got my car I noticed that the wheel was really hard to turn. I took it back and again they took two days on it. They claimed the part failed. I was confused on why didn't they notice this before they gave it to me? Also they claimed to replace the power steering tank and I looked at it and it still looked super dirty and unreplaced. They also Didn't really bother to update me on time when I didn't know if I needed to pay for another rental car day or not. I felt taken advantage of and wasted lots of money and time on this place. 12/5/22 I diagnosed worn out ball joints on my vehicle, called MAPT to share which parts needed to be replaced, and was specific about the work I needed done. I was instructed to bring my truck in anyway to assess and make sure they were ordering the right parts (after explaining exactly what needed to be done, and which parts were needed). I agreed anyway, dropped off my truck the next morning and was told they would need it all day. Huh? Around 1:30 I was called and told they could NOT find the problem, but after explaining how I diagnosed the worn ball joints in my drive way with nothing more that a floor jack and a pry bar, an estimate arrived by text minutes later. The estimate was for $2300 which included a 40% over RETAIL markup on the parts, and what I calculated as 12 hours of labor, which is appropriate for a driveway weekend warrior DIYer. Undecided on if they would get the job, I returned to retrieve my vehicle and was hit with a $150 invoice for diagnostics. Huh? I explained that I had provided the diagnosis and had specific instructions on what needed to be replaced, and further insulted by having to tell them how to replicate the issue. I also shared that I was never told about diagnostic fees, signed nothing, and expected no fees since I had provided the diagnosis to them to begin with. There was some back-and-forth handled by the nice receptionist while the owner / service writer stayed in his office avoiding conversation with me. I was offered a discount to $120 to get my keys to my vehicle and promptly left. I spend $5,000 a year on average in auto repairs. MAPT will only see $120 ever. Great job screwing over a new potential customer. read more
