We live in Chandler and the location is in Avondale so you can only imagine how early we had to leave and how far it was. We arrived at 7:30 to find out that it was changed to 9 am and check in was at 8:30. No email confirmations, phone calls, or anything regarding the change. This would have been nice to know before hand since we live so far. After checking in, there is an hour long class to walk you through the entire process. I would highly recommend paying attention because there is a lot of detailed information. I got my husband 8 laps. It goes by really fast however, they do add on a few extra laps for you. The trackers are very hard to see and it takes 2-3 laps to even notice them and get used to them. The cars are also not very fast either. My husband said it felt like he was driving around 55-80 mph, maybe. Unless you get a groupon the retail price is very expensive. It's a good experience and I recommend getting at least 8 laps or more.

It was an amazing experience. The spotter was courteous and very helpful. It was so much fun to be able to run on a real NASCAR track. It's definitely worth it to get the extra laps.

Absolutely 5 stars!…read more I'm 51 years old and grew up loving all things automotive, from mild to wild. My dad used to take me to car museums whenever we came across one, and he'd tell me stories about all the cool cars he and his friends drove in the 1960s and '70s. I carried that passion into the '80s and '90s, and now I'm doing my best to turn my two toddlers into car nuts as well. We spotted this museum on a recent trip to Phoenix and decided to check it out. What we found was, in my opinion, the greatest car museum I've ever visited. The building is huge, well maintained, and staffed by friendly people. Best of all, you can open the doors and sit in roughly 40% of the cars! That hands-on experience sets this place apart from every other museum I've visited. This may very well be the greatest car museum in America today and should be a mandatory stop for any car enthusiast.

The entry fee is low, the people are friendly and leave you alone and the cars are so cool you can lose your friend easily. Some of the cars are open so you can take pictures in them. I was very impressed by how well these show piece cars are taken care of. If I have any gripe it's that you don't see very many Mopars from the muscle era. I will come back here again when my buddy from LA is in town.

They also had vendors inside, a bar and race betting machines. One thing I learned was to reserve tables in advance. I also arrived early when the doors opened so it was easy to find a non reserved spot. What's cool about this venue is we are right by the finish line tracks. You get to see the horses the entire time but the best zone is watching at the finish lines. Drinks for a seltzer were -$12 and a cocktail was ~$14. Overall a fun experience!

There's a large tent with VIP seating, vendors, and bars. There's another outdoor area with reserved tables and live music. And there were two food trucks (a BBQ joint and a grilled cheese spot). Here's the good and the bad: (1) The large tent is supposed to be VIP but there's grass and dirt accompanied by overpriced drinks; (2) You can view the live races from this area; (3) there was a Stella Artois stand that was giving out free samples and a personalized engraved Stella glass; (4) You can go to the other parts of the venue but you can't bring alcohol to the other parts (meaning you have to finish it before you go to other sections); (5) There are no bathrooms. So, not worth the price of admission in my mind. The coolest part of an event like this is seeing how everyone dresses up, especially the women with their elaborate hats and sun dresses. I'd go with general admission, though. Those areas have lower priced drinks, too.

I've come to know running marathons and ultra distance events as second nature to me. Starting in…read more2007 December till February 2018, I've done 100 marathons & ultra distance events collectively. There's always something out there that's pushing me along. Then enter, Across the Years. It's a popular one. Across the Years ultra distance endurance running event is a multi event that usually attracts the crazy with the most insane people you'd ever find on this earth. The event features a 10 day, 6 days, 72 hr, 48, hr, 24 hr, 12 hr, 6 hr, 100 miler, and marathon. Ideally, this race wants you to test your physical limitations (or perceived limitations) on your own two feet, no matter if you run, walk, crawl. You'll get more fun and excitement in a lifetime, at least that's what they told me. For myself though, I was on a goal to run a marathon or longer in each of the 50 states for the 2nd time around. I needed Arizona, so I decided to register for Across the Years. Registering is easy, since you can google Across the Years race and the link to the website will show up. Sign-ups are usually available on Ultrasignup.com. They only accept credit card thru online registration, but I think you still can register on site, if you decide to be at the location and decide to participate. Cash only I think, if you do race weekend, but best to do it early, to save money on the race registration for sure. It does get pricey if you procrastinate! The overall experience here at Across the Years ultra distance running event was interesting, fun, and wet. On the 2021/2022 event that spans after Christmas until well into the New Year, hence the event name. You do meet friendly veteran ultra runners, those trying to get 50 states - like me, and those who wish to experience a race in Arizona in the winter time. They attract a lot of people here, since it's one of the warmest places in the lower 48 united states, not including Hawaii. I arrived here at the race location - Camelback Ranch at about 7am via uber to an empty parking lot that was locked. However, as soon as I saw tents and activity, I knew that those were my people and got settled in. After getting checked in and settled, we all waited for 9am on the first day of the event to kick things off. The idea was to get as much course loops as possible before your event runs out. I signed up for the 24 hr event to see how much I can go before calling it quits. In 2021, I ended up with 50km, although I wanted to stop at the marathon distance, but I knew I can go further even though the rain and the colder than normal conditions made me think otherwise. The ambiance was cool and lively. The course was lit up at night, so we didn't veer off course too much. The aid station was stocked up with pretty much anything you'd need to keep going - physically and mentally. All in all, it was a good trip. I got what I wanted, but my secret goal was 50 miles in 24 hours, but stopped at 50km (31.07 miles) due to weather. The Across the Years ultra distance running event is located on the grounds of Camelback Ranch, the spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox MLB baseball teams. As mentioned before, registration is usually thru online and accepts major credit cards, although you may get in on race weekend and I assume its cash only. As for parking goes, there is a parking lot for campers and cars too, if you are participating. Best bet would be to check out the details and specifics on where to park on race weekend. If you decide to rough it, you can rent a tent and a sleeping bag. I did and it wasn't terrible, but I just happened to be sleeping on and off that morning instead of checking into a hotel for the night. The ground was saturated with the rain and it was cold, but I purchased the tent and sleeping bag beforehand, so it was money that I could have forwarded to a hotel, but chose to rough it out anyway. This ultra running event festival was as bare bones as you can make it. Just a bit over a mile loops as much as you can for the timed event you signed up for. After so many loops and the sun fades into the darkness, you wonder when is the fun going to start? 5.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the aid station people. Thanks to the volunteers! Support local! A

Mariners fans, here's your guide to a great day at the park…read more Head to the stadium early to watch the guys at the practice fields. It's free, and gates open at 9:30. See dozens of players on the various fields throwing pitches, fielding balls, and taking batting practice. On game day, the guys wrapped up practice around 11:50, so I recommend getting there at least by 11. Don't miss doing this--it's just as entertaining, if not more entertaining than the game. Where else can you see players this up close? Then, walk on over to In-N-Out or Raising Cane's for lunch before the game. They're about a 15 minute walk away. I feel odd recommending fast food, but you gotta try what you can't get back in Seattle! There is food at the stadium, but it's not discount prices. Expect to pay just as much (or more) for a drink than you would at T-Mobile Park. After lunch, head to the park for the 1:10 game. The stadium is very intimate, and there really isn't a bad seat. It does get hot tho--the seats themselves are very toasty. Fortunately, we brought some towels from the hotel to sit on. The couple in front of us had to go buy some towels in order to sit comfortably. Also, pack a small portable fan. As someone who doesn't like hot weather, the fan made a huge difference and made sitting in the seats tolerable. Lastly, bring a water bottle and some sunscreen. There are cooling stations throughout the stadium, and some shaded spots. Parking is right in front of the stadium, free, and plentiful. You do not need to worry about not getting a spot--especiailly if you come early to watch practice.

There's even a kids mini baseball field! We sat in Section 120. There's a good amount of space between the rows of seats and the section is right along the first base line. The bathrooms are close by. The only downside is there is NO SHADE whatsoever (this goes for most of the stadium). However, the weather was perfect today! If you're a baseball fan, make sure to come to a Spring Training game here at Peoria Sports Complex!
