Our AC stopped blowing cold air on Wednesday in July & I called Marathon for AC repair. We have never used them before since we always had Homeowners Insurance - American HomeShield to cover broken thing around the house. We discontinued that service a few years ago because it got pricey. I looked up Marathon online & the reviews were good. They sent out a repair Tech the next day. Alex Martinez was the Tech. A courtesy call to let the homeowner/customer know they will not be able to show up after a scheduled appointment between the hours from 12:00 to 4:00 pm because no one can give you a set hour, just a window of time; which was a waste of our time. Mom paid 4k for a 2 year old AC to be serviced with any repairs necessary so it works to a certain standard and now 2 months later it stopped and they came back to check and said it will be another 300 to fix something else, when I spoke to the manager he said this is common with this brand to have issues over and over again and wanted to quote me for a new AC to take more money ! Why would you not say this initially and steal 4k and then try too make more money off selling a new AC instead of fixing the ac you just serviced yourself! Just called me back saying 99 dollar inspection fee now since we don't want the work even though I was told they would diagnose for free over the phone when I made appt!! As most are experiencing, the heat is causing our AC to work overtime, which in turn causes some issues for us. I was driving by and noticed Marathon HVAC Service, Inc fixing our neighbors AC. I stopped hoping that the tech would say that that had an opening for us in the next day or so (other companies were a week out for service). Not only did they have availability, Ray the owner who was actually doing the work, followed me to my house to look at our system. He fixed us up on the spot. Marathon absorbed the service contract from my original installer who retired and sold the business. The original company was excellent, and though they charged me a little more, spent much more time servicing my a/c, and cleaning the condenser coil. Marathon charges less, however they are in and out. When I asked the technician about cleaning out the leaves from the condenser, he told me that would be a bigger charge for "deep cleaning". Instead he sprayed the condenser off from the outside and left it at that. I called and asked for a quote to deep clean it, and was told I'd receive a quote. Nothing happened. I did, however get a follow up email asking if I wanted to buy the attic fan, and surge protector. This business wants to do the bare minimum and cash checks for upsells. When I sent an email asking for clarification I received nothing. Thank god the service contract is so cheap, I have no regrets about walking away from any future work from them. I think I've maybe left one review ever on yelp, but they are so bad I had to take the time for this one. read more

The summertime might be one of the worst times of year that your AC can stop working. Out of the countless HVAC repair services I contacted, Marathon was the quickest to respond. In fact, communication with Sarah was quick and efficient. They charged $125 to come out, and if they couldn't fix the problem this time around, that fee would be applied to the whole repair, so long as you did the repair through them. Seemed fair enough. The service technicians were 10 minutes late, which was excusable (traffic). Sergio and Jesse diagnosed the problem in a decent amount of time. They walked me through what they were doing, and it eventually came down to a capacitor replacement. In all it took about 45 minutes. Based on the ease of communication, professionalism of staff and technicians, I wouldn't hesitate to call Marathon again. read more

Marathon was recommended by a contractor for a remodel. They replaced old ducting, relocated the furnace and coil, and installed new air vents. A big job and definitely not an easy one, but they were thorough. They are transparent and honest with what work needs to be done. Their quote was reasonable for the quality of work. Two years later my AC unit stopped cooling, they came out and repaired a plumbing issue that was caused by a contractor, and my AC was up and running again. They wore shoe covers and made sure the areas they worked on were clean before they left. I really appreciated that. I would highly recommend them for big or small jobs. read more

A very close contractor friend recommended Marathon. I got several bids from well known retailers and it was like the wild west. By far Ray from Marathon was the most 'thoughtful.' Some vendors said keep the ducting while others did not. One wanted to put the a/c unit on top of the garage which was a significant added expense and would be dumb due to vibration and potential leak issues as well as maintenance with people walking on my new roof. Ray gave the most thorough bid as he recommended changing the size of the floor registers. Without this change the system would not provide the volume of heat and a/c which was necessary to work most efficiently. He bid a good basic system with the potential to pay more for a smaller, quieter and more efficient unit (16 seer which will be required in 2023). Other vendors lied and said I had to go with 16 seer because a 14 seer was not available! I went with the upgrade as he was not pushy about it and it just made sense and has a low profile to be located on the size of my house. He also recommended a more powerful unit (5 ton vs 4 ton) so there would be no issue of getting desired temperatures and this also allows if I add on to my house. His company is small and I felt a true bond with him as he truly cared about my satisfaction and the job being perfect. His crew worked hard and showed up on time and were very respectful.
