For example, the lobster bisque is a joke = zero lobster meat - simply a heavily creamed "flavored" soup - not true lobster bisque, yet they charge as much as places that actually include lobster meat. Extremely disappointing. Note: typical con - the FDA allows restaurants to label soup "lobster" or "shrimp" as long as there is just a tiny % of said meat JUICES. The service at the bar is great. My brother and I were driving across Pennsylvania and decided to stop for a an early dinner around 3PM on a Saturday. The front hostess looked down upon us as we did not have reservations. It took them forever to find a table when the dining area was half empty. She gave us the worst table near the entrance to the kitchen. Our server, Sharon, was excellent and both of our dinners were great. My brother had the lobster pie and I tried the tenderloin tips with crabmeat. We had been here a few other times and enjoyed great meals. It was too bad that it started on a bad note with the hostess. My college friend and I tried this spot because the menu looked pretty good. It had a nice set up. There was plenty of space and also a large bar that had seating. Our server was very nice and made sure that we had whatever we needed. The menu had a lot of items so it was a little hard to choose. She helped a good bit explaining the dishes. The main problem we had though was that the food did not come out hot and it was not really seasoned well. And to say what they were charging, should have not been that way. We had calamari and my friend had the oyster stew, which kind of threw them off because it was dairy based which was not described on the menu. The bowl was huge and seemed even bigger with only 6 oysters floating in the liquid. We came with a group of 8. The restaurant was busy. The waiter tried to keep up work all he had to do but the waits were long. The oyster stew was delicious but it was Luke warm at best. I love my soup piping hot and it was disappointing to receive slightly warm soup. The seafood combo was just okay. It reminded my husband of a Red Lobster platter which we thought we would get better here. The stuffed shrimp and scallops were good but the fish had no taste. We couldn't even tell what kind it was. No 42 minutes with appetizer, entree and my biggest pet peeve - eating your entree and a restaurant wants a dessert order, that NEVER happens here! We dined here for the first time last night and we will definitely be back! I'll start with the hostess - she had an excellent command of which tables were freeing up and as people were calling to cancel, she gave immediate direction for the tables to be broken down and reset to be able to seat people. We both ordered the crab with the sirloin tips with asparagus and baked potato - the crab was out of this world and the sirloin tips done to perfection. We opted for the key lime pie - I have to say that neither of us were super impressed with it - it didn't have that key lime "tang" that we're used to, but perhaps they just make it differently? I agree with most reviewers here in saying it is a bit overpriced for what you get. I also found the food hit or miss, about 50/50-very inconsistent. Not the quality mind you, the temperature of the food mostly as detailed below. As far a service goes-since I also agree with the Yelp reviewers that the seniors far outnumber all other guests-it is painfully slow service. Seniors all seem to want to spend their entire evening there. I however do not. Since the place is fairly packed most time I've been there-the attitudes of the staff as noted on Yelp-seems to be take it or leave it, portraying they have plenty of business and don't need you. I start off with a bad taste in my mouth personally. If you order the Lobster Bisque soup that bad taste is quickly by an OMG moment. The buttery sweetness of the right amount of lobster paired with the creamy texture and perfectly blended sherry flavor of the soup stands alone at the of the Lobster Bisque world. PROBLEM: If you order it to go or order it cold-they don't tell you it resembles nothing like what is served real time. When returning the coagulated, way to thick quart I had purchased to go they revealed it needed to be whisked and half & half added when cooking on low heat at home. When I took my wife there recently for our Anniversary, it was disappointing for the $160.00 I had spent! The presentation of the dozen each of the raw clams we ordered on the half shell was appetizing-served on a bed of ice-home made, very tasty cocktail sauce-and with plenty of lemons. I immediately tried a clam and was surprised it wasn't even remotely chilled-in which they taste best. So order the salad and clams at the same time and eat the salad 1st-which is what we did. Clams were chilled after eating salad. PROBLEM: While I like their chop salad a LOT-serving it at room temperature or higher brings that bad taste right back! I ordered a $42.00 lobster tail which was served room temperature-not even a hint of being cooked-more like it was cooked hours ago and sat there, then served. I got fries with the tail-and guess what-room temperature too! Fries MUST be served hot in my book! The crab cakes-whether ordered fried or broiled will get that bad taste gone again-and are among the best I have ever had-including trips and dinners in Maryland! My wife ordered filet mignon, cooked right and very tender. Wait was so long for the main entree's thought about leaving. Possibly why lobster and fries were cold? Had tried Seafood Au Gratin and loved it last time. Blackened Salmon was very good on a previous visit. Bread/Rolls were good and overall it is easy to say we'll go back. But not often! Loved this place. Reminded me of some of the great seafood places on the Cape and completely old school. Great seafood choices like stuffed shrimp and grilled fish of all kinds but also with some really interesting and tasty items like crab nachos, which were amazing. Hot and fresh chips were loaded with lump crab meat, spicy sour cream, diced tomato, shredded cheddar and Monterrey jack cheese and cilantro. The owners that took over several years ago have really run this place into the ground. If zero was an option, I would have given them a zero. I was there for a family Christmas party of about 20 people. The food and the service were extremely bad. I contributed it to the size of the party and let it go. Two weeks ago, I thought I'd try them again. There were 3 of us and none of us liked our meals. The portions were unbelieveably small and the prices extremely high. The lettuce was wilted and black. The crab cake was cold and crumbly. The lobster bisque had no flavor. The fries were cold and soggy. The fish was the size of a fish stick. The seafood au gratin was dried out. I've eaten here many times, it's usually pretty decent food. But I just went for my birthday and that was the worst meal I've ever had there. Out of 4 people at the table two of us found hairs in our food and drink. They're doing a lobsterpalooza thing and I can tell the lobster had just been sitting out, it was dry and barely had any taste to it. They did comp two desserts because of the hair but didn't address it any further. We also watched through a crack in the door to the back as an employee was drinking alcohol and ate a cherry out of someone's drink with their fingers before they brought the drink out. Worst"fine dining" ever. Thanks for a terrible and expensive birthday dinner. I DONT recommend this place for anyone. Just based on our experience, I'm surprised at the bad reviews for this restaurant. My grandfather is a frequent lunch diner here and wanted to come for dinner on Saturday night. No complaints from our table. Our waitress brought over the Specials chalkboard for us to peruse and took our drink order a minute or two after we sat down. She returned shortly with a hot bread basket & drinks and took our order. We all started with soup- the Lobster Bisque $5.95- 4/5 was delicious, but could have has a bit more lump lobster. The French Onion $5.95- 5/5 Perfect. Plenty of cheese browned over the top and sides of the crock, great beefy/sherry stock, and super hot. New England Seafood Chowder $5.25- I heard that this fish and calm chowder was delicious, but didn't personally sample it. I had the KEY WEST CHICKEN & SHRIMP $18.95- 4/5 A chicken breast & 3 shrimp grilled with Key West seasoning. Sides are sautéed spinach with red pepper strips and white rice infused with Meyer Lemon Olive Oil from Bethlehem local Season's Olive Oil and Vinegar Taproom. You also get a choice of another side. I chose broccoli. The chicken, shrimp, broccoli, and spinach were all delicious. Three shrimp seemed a little skimpy, but they were were succulent and juicy. The rice was odd. Not something I would choose. I also tried my aunt's PATRIOT'S FISH & CHIPS $12.95- Samuel Adams Boston lager battered haddock with fries and cole slaw. The haddock pieces were giant and delightful, buttery and flaky fried goodness. The cole slaw was also really good. Creamy and not too sweet. I didn't try my grandfather's cod, but the piece of fish was very large and he said it was delicious. He opted against the salmon, because it was farm raised today.
