I had hoped for better. The atmosphere is pleasant and obviously Marblehead tried hard, but, in my opinion, the chef is a tad bizarre. My companions and I who all love fried calamari were thrilled by the portion size but something was off and the platter was abandoned at 5 pct. But, when the fried clam platters arrived the were compressed into dead ringers for fried mozzarella sticks and also had an unappealing taste. I thought it rude to perform an autopsy to see if there was a clam inside. Also abandoned barely touched. But when the big guys prime rib arrived, it was enormous. On 5/9/25 we went to Easton location due to the good reviews and were very disappointed. This was about 2:30pm restaurant was not busy. I ordered 2 lobster tails for 65.65. It was so rubbery that I could not cut with normal knife I had to ask waiter for a steak knife to cut the tail. He never asked why I was asking for Steak knife to cut lobster. He just brought knife and put on table. The baked potato was brown and dried out. We had to ask for rolls and water to be refilled. When we were leaving I told the people at counter at door, that I have had Lobster many times but never had to use a steak knife to cut it and said I was disappointed and they said sorry. The service was less than you would get at a diner. I feel they need to check on quality of food they are serving, and a waiter who can smile. My wife had Salmon and she liked it except for the baked potato. We must have visited on a bad day, because most reviews are good. read more

Up front I'll tell you that if you live in the area or are passing through and haven't yet dined at Marblehead- you are missing out. Make a reservation because they are consistently busy for all the right reasons. Dress smart-casual and you'll find a nice spot in the full dining room where you can have a conversation with your guests without having to raise your voice. Its a pleasant, civilized level. Be prepared to feast your eyes on a menu loaded with so many choices you'll have to take a moment to soak it all in. Its obviously seafood but there's also items for meat and veggie lovers as well. Some of our favs: crab norfolk, salmon oscar, anything salmon, any of their daily board specials...heck, just about everything is truly wonderful....including drinks. Shout out to the Marblehead Chowderhouse for a great 80th birthday dinner for my father in law. Our group of 12 was sat promptly, had awesome service from the wait staff and even better food and drinks. Prices were reasonable, under $1,000 for all of us (with alcohol!) and tip! While visiting family in Easton and Bethlehem we chose to have lunch at Marblehead one day. The place was not crowded, and they seated us right away. Their menu looked very good with many options. They also offer daily specials. One of their specials was a cajun seafood stew. It was loaded with crawfish, shrimp and other seafood. The cup was plenty and I probably could have stopped there and been satisfied with my meal. But, no, I had to order more. Sticking with the cajun theme, they also had a blackened Cajun Salad. This was a green salad with tiny crawfish and large blackened shrimp. It comes with ranch dressing, but I asked for the vinaigrette instead. The salad was good - the greens and tomatoes were fresh. The crawfish (although very small) were tasty. The shrimp - well, the blackening spices were way too salty. It almost made the shrimp inedible. The others with me were very happy with their meals. So, given that, I had to knock them down a little for the shrimp. Other than that everything was good. The service was also very good. When I visit this area we pass Marblehead all of the time. All-in-all it was a good experience and will definitely try it again. (I will not order anything blackened though.) read more

There's one thing I want to note right off the top. Diane M. made a comment that she couldn't understand why the reviews were so bad and then made a reference about her grandfather being a regular. That my friends is exactly what I'm talking about. It's like food at a hospital or at a senior living facility. Safe. Easy. Bare Bones. No Frills. Buttered and/or salted to the hilt. If you've ever been to The Crab Trap in Somers Point New Jersey you know what I mean. That place is more or less a cousin to Marblehead. Upon entering I took a good look at the dining room and noticed that the old lady and myself out of maybe sixty people were two of the maybe five without white hair on our heads. That again tells you something about the place. I will also get out of the way that the service was top notch the entire time. Yes, the whole specials board being placed on an empty chair thing at your table is a bit odd but that's been their thing here forever so whatever. The old lady got the french onion soup and I started with the seafood chowder. Flavor wise she said the FO was fine but out off all the places I've seen her get FO over the years I can't think of a place where there was such a small quantity of cheese on top of the crock. As for the seafood chowder, the name is a misnomer as (at least to me) to imply that a soup is a chowder usually implies that the broth be thick. This broth had the consistency of water and holy crap was it sallllllty. Yuck! Entrees were Chicken Chesapeake and Surf & Turf. The steak on the Surf & Turf was requested medium and came out more or less fully well done grey with only a microscopic fleck or two of pink. The lobster tail was as expected and more than enough butter was brought to the table. One noteworthy negative to that meal would be the asparagus which according to the menu are sautéed but in reality they were limp & soggy more like they had been boiled. The chicken dish was alright with the one exception being the citrus rice which had the flavor profile of a napkin, i.e. it tasted like absolute nothing. We opted against any dessert partially because we were full but also because nothing on that menu really jumped out at us and based on what had already been served we doubted that anything was likely going to justify the price. In the LV there are only so many dedicated places to get seafood and if you're going to knock out Red Lobster this place is the next best thing in terms of not a great choice but a "safe choice". read more

For example, the lobster bisque is a joke = zero lobster meat - simply a heavily creamed "flavored" soup - not true lobster bisque, yet they charge as much as places that actually include lobster meat. Extremely disappointing. Note: typical con - the FDA allows restaurants to label soup "lobster" or "shrimp" as long as there is just a tiny % of said meat JUICES. The service at the bar is great.
