Best. Lasagna. In. SF. This place has odd hours, is a bit out of the way but totally worth the visit. This massive piece of deliciousness comes in a hot metal pan. Get their classic or mushroom or Bianca lasagna entree. They have indoor and lovely outdoor seating. Street parking is easy to find in the area. The service is great. They start you off with some bread and each slice comes with a light salad.

3.5/5 Perhaps the softest lasagna I've ever had! This place used to be lunch only but ever since the board game cafe next door took over, they're opened for dinner as well. This spot is a casual takeaway spot with some tables inside but all of the food comes in to-go style boxes. My friends and I tried: Butternut Squash (lightly sweet), Mushroom, and the Abruzzo (probably the most disappointing as there wasn't much spiciness or italian sausage). I wished all had a stronger taste but the mushroom one was the best! Each bite was so soft: borderline mushy but still good! Each one is like $20 though.

One of my favorite lasagna places in San Francisco! We went on a weekend afternoon and the place was packed. We had to wait around 15 minutes for seats. The restaurant felt really cozy and the day was super nice out and sunny so we decided to sit outside. We got the meat sampler lasagna and the mushroom ravioli. I enjoyed the meat sampler lasagna a lot. The meat sauce was flavorful and packed with delightful tomato taste. 5/5. I wish the portion sizes are bigger. The meat sampler came with three small slices of lasagna but it wasn't enough for me! Wish it was more! The mushroom ravioli was delicious as well. The ravioli was well made, and the mushroom sauce was creamy.

Loved Marcella's Lasagneria! Wish there were more restaurants like Marcella's-- it's a cute neighborhood gem! This lasagna shop differs from others because it doesn't use the thick lasagna sheets like a lot of other places do. We ordered the Abruzzo (Italian sausage) and Bolognese (ground sirloin angus beef) lasagnas and enjoyed them both. Interior is small with all outdoor style garden tables and service was friendly. The only caveat was that we thought our waitress forgot our order and our lasagnas were just warm instead of hot like the other tables dishes. Would love to try the tiramisu if I go back!

Wonderful neighborhood spot, owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating! Meal comes with bread and salad! The abruzzo lasagna had nice flavor, the tomato sauce has a nice acidity that keeps the lasagna from being heavy. I enjoyed the charred bits! Could have more meat filling is my only desire.

Lives up to the hype! Can be hard to eat because their hours are weird? Conveniently located right off the T Muni Metro line. Lasagna is filling and fluffy and handmade. Lots of meat. Tender mushrooms. Nice texture and ratio of cheese to sauce to pasta.

Came here to get some takeout for lunch on a Friday. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive even though they were packed with dine in customers. Their lasagna really stands out among the average. I don't usually go for lasagna when I have the option of other pasta because often times the lasagna sheets are super thick and doughy. This isn't the case here though, the pasta is thin and the texture is amazing. I would totally come here again to dine in, Im sure it's even better served fresh.

About 10 years ago, I worked at a company that would have catered lunch once a week and Marcella's was always one of my favorites. The lasagna using thin fresh pasta was nothing like I'd had before (except for in Italy) and the flavors were amazing. The abruzzo, pesto, and butternut squash were my favorites. Inspired by Marcella's, I even learned to make my own lasagna using fresh pasta but lemme tell you, it's a labor of love and who has time for that? I've made it out to the restaurants a few times since and it never fails to disappoint. I love the outdoor seating on nice days and the staff has always been nice. The bread, chili oil, and salad that come with an order of lasagna are all very good too. I want some of that chili oil to take home. I keep meaning to try their pastas, but the lasagnas are too good to pass up and the portion sizes are healthy enough that I leave feeling stuffed as is.

We waited an hour to dine here last weekend, and unfortunately the whole experience was fairly underwhelming. I had the abruzzo lasagna, bolognese lasagna, and tiramisu. The lasagna came out barely lukewarm and lacked flavor. It didn't taste that fresh. The only good thing about the lasagna was that the layers of pasta sheets were nicely thin. Luckily, my meal ended on a decent note because the tiramisu was pretty tasty. This was the best thing I tried here. If you're coming here on the weekend, make sure to arrive at least 40-60min before closing, or else you might not make it onto the waitlist. We were one of the last to be seated even thought we arrived by 1pm.

So delicious! The best lasagna I've ever had! The hours here are only during lunch but it's definitely worth making it in time. I tried the abruzzo and eggplant. The abruzzo was so delicious with yummy sausages. The eggplant was also so good with a flavorful savory flavor. The people working here are also so nice and friendly! The orders also come with bread and salad which I love!

Food was 10/10 one of the best pastas I've had. I'd definitely recommend the rigatoni con pollo.

Cute neighborhood place and friendly service. The edges have the nice crisp texture; the layering is nice and even. However the lasagna was on the dry side and the noodles a bit too soft - acknowledging it's a matter of personal taste preference. $60 after tax for 2 people.

Marcella's is often described as a "hidden gem" or an "institution". However, I couldn't help but feel disappointed by my dining experience. I found the service to be ridiculously slow, the prices to be far too high, and the food merely decent. I'm not sure why this place recieves so much praise. At first, I thought my disappointment might be due to ordering a vegetarian dish, but my dining partners agreed that while the food was good, it didn't meet expectations. House Salad: With an order of lasagna, you're given the choice of a soup or a salad. The soup of the day was tomato and broccoli, which seemed like a poor pairing with a red sauce lasagna. I opted for the house salad, which was fine. It was drenched in balsamic vinegar, but the components were well chosen. Mushroom Lasagna: My raison d'être. I love mushrooms, so I was expecting bites of umami goodness. Unfortunately, while mushrooms were definitely present texturally, they contributed little flavor. The dish mostly tasted like red sauce. And while the red sauce was good, it made for a monotonous dish. They also use bechemal instead of ricotta, and I prefer ricotta .

My favorites were: the chef's choice crudo, specially the tuna and hamachi(?). The tuna was rich and smokey in a great milky and fragrant fennel sauce. The hamachi in the root veggie wrap with a slight kick, awesome! And the scallop was good too! My boyfriend liked that one, but I thought the chip on top was over powering. My other favorite, the lamb pasta! Loved that texture. Flavor wise, savory and spicy. It was cold out and really warmed me up. Loved the experience. Our waitress was also awesome and patience. She let me try a few of the wine before settling down on a full body red that went very well with my pasta. Oh and the affogato, yum!! Exactly what we were looking for. The standing area next to the bar was also a cute spot to wait while our table was getting ready. Food-wise, we tried the crudo tasting while the other crudos were fine, they didn't stand out nearly as much as the scallop. The corn and mushroom pasta was very tasty, especially the sauce. We also tried the pesto pasta, which also had excellent texture, but the sauce tasted a bit more charred than I would have liked. Overall, I thought the atmosphere and dining experience were stronger than any individual dish. The communal seating and lively dining area gave the restaurant a great energy. I can see why this place is popular, and the tasting menu is a fun way to try a variety.
