Food is good if dinned in. Take out is lack luster. This has to be at least the 3rd time asking for grilled chicken with pink vodka and they give you 3 grilled strips. First time but always heart great things about the restaurant. Went for a birthday dinner, big/loud group but wait staff was super friendly and helpful! We had a couple waitresses helping us out, they took photos for us, didn't mind our noise, overall great service. The food was great; had the house calamari and wow! That is now my favorite! The sauce on it was different, so tasty! We had salad, everyone loved it! The dressing on it made it so tasty. For a main i got dinner special surf and turf; the steak was good, cooked medium rare as I wanted. The lobster tails were ok, nothing special. For side i got a butternut squash that was so good i wanted to ask for recipe! Also go a baked potato but i was too full to touch it. The others all got different pasta dishes and they were huge portions! Each plate could feed 2 people and still have leftovers. Overall everything was great! I love coming to this place for their outsized pasta portions. You get at least two meals worth of food out of each meal. My service was great, but I have to knock a star off for the waiter behind me giving a real estate broker training sales pitch the entire meal. It really kills the ambiance to have a high pressure pitch occurring right next to you for an hour. Anyways, great tasting food, lots of it, prices reasonable for the amount of food you get. The parking lot is not the right size for the establishment, so be prepared for maybe having to park nearby. read more

This place is a staple in the community. I would suggest making a reservation because the line to get a table is always very long. Be careful in the parking lot. There are a good amount of spots, but it's pretty tight. The staff is very sweet and food portions are huge. I definitely raise my eyebrow about how they choose to seat certain people. if you get the regular calamari, it doesn't have any seasoning to it so I would suggest asking for a side dipping sauce. It comes with a red sauce that has a little spice to it but again the regular calamari is pretty bland. The wait staff were excellent. Friendly. Accurate. Helpful. Fast. The Italian bread was ok, but wish it were crispy crust. The ice tea was not drinkable. I drink it with no lemon or anything. It smelled and tasted like plastic and dishwater. Sent it back for a soda. The seafood alfrado had about 3 pounds of pasta in an alfredo sauce that didn't taste quite right. Perhaps adding the wine or whatever changed the flavor of a traditional sauce. I ate some of the lobster, shrimp, and scallops (seemed like a decent amount of seafood by todays standards.) I had a few forkfuls of pasta and took a very heavy container home. About 40 years ago I would pick this dish up and enjoy the aroma in my car driving to my friends house to eat it. Was amazing. I don't know if my taste buds changed, or the recipe. I would not order it again. The room with our table of 8 was small. There was a table for about 12 and two other tables of 6 or so all squeezed into a tiny space. One group of screaming babies left before an adult party arrived that stood in the middle of the room socializing. It was horrible. Noisy. Crowded. Again. The wait staff was amazing. I am done with Marchetti's. There are so many good restaurants in Rhode Island. Quality is better than quantity. Husband had no complaints about his giant meatball. read more

We tried this restaurant tonight because my husband is always trying to find a chicken marsala to beat the last and a coworker raved about this place, I was not disappointed at all!! Nick was our server and he was amazing, he looked so young I was skeptical about service but I definitely was reminded not to ever judge a book by its cover because he was fantastic. He was wicked knowledgeable about the menu, very friendly, and very professional. He kept us informed about drinks and food and checked in just enough to make sure we were taken care of without being annoying. Definitely a natural at his job. I got a martini and margarita and they were both great and served with very little wait time. The food was definitely authentic Italian and served hot with very little wait, appetizers and meals were perfectly spaced out. The meatballs were definitely homemade and delicious and the chicken marsala was probably in my top 3. We also loved the ambiance of the restaurant, such a homey setting that was dim enough to feel cozy but not too dark to see. We will definitely be back!! read more

Amazing place. I was traveling and stopped here with a friend in 2017. It was incredible then. Now in 2024 I was visiting the area and had to come back. It was even more amazing this time. The veal parm is perfection. Best I've ever had. My girl got the seafood risotto special. I stole some of hers because it was equally amazing. This place does not disappoint. Without having to go to federal hill- this is really good food. Red gravy is one of our favorites. Yes portions are huge- really just start by putting half in a to go container . Honestly would love to see a "small" version of the meals offered - leftovers in my house just never get eaten!! That being said, went with my friend and her son. Can't beat the never ending salad (I could just drink the dressing) and the bread and oil was amazing. Soft Italian bread, slight crunch in the crust.. and the oil. You could taste the garlic infusion. Yummm. Had a sangria- substantial drink. If I didn't have to drive would have had another- but the waiter didn't even offer (which is fine I would have had to decline). Arrived an hour after opening on a Saturday- it was PACKED. They don't do reservations before 7. Drove around the parking lot in circles for 15 minutes trying to find parking. Shocking we didn't have to wait for a table- we were seated on the patio. Wonderful spot for a family dinner! We came here on a Friday night and came just in time. We were seated right away but a few minutes after, the line was so long! Come early, it gets packed! I loved the bread and garlic confit to start our meal. I ordered the chicken penne vodka pasta and my husband ordered the chicken parm over vodka penne. Two suggestions 1. Make an area for takeout spots in the parking lot. 2. Have at least 2-3 people on at takeout especially on weekends at opening hours. They never disappoint! Food is great and portions are plentiful, enough to share or take home. They pour a great drink, and the service is friendly and accommodates most requests. The ambiance is very dated and basic. But don't let that deter you from giving it a try. CAVEAT: The line to get in starts just before they open. Especially if you want a bar seat. They say you can't come to Cranston without trying marchettis. So that was our first stop in Rhode Island. The portion sizes are huge here! To start, they bring over a huge family style garden salad, dressed in their famous dressing. It was absolutely delicious! The bread was fresh and warm with delicious oil for dipping. I'm not a fan of Italian food, but the chicken was absolutely delicious! The mashed and the Brussel sprouts were charred and good. The seafood Alfredo however had a bit of everything. Again, another huge plate. Filled with crab, lobster, shrimp, and scallops. My people loved the seafood Alfredo. They get crowded really fast, so if you're going, try going when they open. My husband and I came here in a Thursday night expecting it to be slower. It's a good thing we made reservations cause they were very busy. Even with them being busy, we still got great service. Be prepared to be full when you leave, and walk out with an additional 2-3 meals. I didn't have high expectations, but I walked out knowing that we will be back. We had a reservation for 20:00 on a busy Saturday Night but were seated immediately after checking in. Set the tempo for the entire night, drinks came fast, calamari appetizer was plentiful and delicious as was the salad, bread and garlic infused olive oil. My Wife had penne with pink vodka sauce and meatballs, I had the veal parmigiana. Both our meals were hot, visually appealing, tasted great and the portions were impressive. We both tapped out with lots of leftovers that made for a nice dinner the next day and had zero room for dessert. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. Marchetti's was recommended by a friend who once lived in Cranston, so we went for Pasta Sunday to give them a try. The parking lot was nearly full shortly after their 1pm Sunday opening, a good sign, I thought. The hostess greeted us and promptly showed us to out booth. Table service was prompt and impeccable; we were off to a very good start. Lisa took our order; brought a hugh bowl of house salad with their in-house Italian dressing which was without question one of the best salad dressings/salad we've had. Do not think Olive Garden salad here, this was clearly above and beyond OG. Fresh bread with roast garlic infused hot evoo was on another sensory taste level, flat out phenomenal, show stopper. Our orders arrived from the kitchen in jig time despite how busy the restaurant was. Lisa is an absolutely accomplished, professional waitress who was knowledgeable, friendly and followed up frequently without being overly chatty or obtrusive. You can only wish that your future dining experiences would have someone so skilled and genuinely concerned about every detail of your experience. Marchetti's is an Old School, Old World Italian restaurant that ticks off the three major criteria for an exceptional dining experience: 1) Hospitality. 2) Service. 3) Excellent food quality, flavor and taste. Both our dinners were superb, the seafood in my coipino was cooked perfectly with a world class, homemade Italian red sauce. My wife's linguine with vodka sauce was one of the very best she has had. Marchetti's is reminiscent of eating at Nonna's house on Sunday afternoon. Remember to go there hungry, even famished; I doubt that you will get half way through your meal. Everyone knows Marchetti's. They're known for great food and huge portions. One thing I didn't know is that they take reservations!! I'd always see people lined up in the waiting area and last time I went, I was told there was an hour and a half wait. Why didn't they make reservations?? Lol My sis and I went last night June 8 and there was. 15 minute wait so we decided to sit at the bar and ordered a drink. The two female bartenders were so enthusiastic that we decided to eat at the bar. I wish I knew both their names but one was Kim. These women were phenomenal! My sister asked for extra garlic for the bread and they came out with an abundance of it LOL When they packed up our take-home plates, they made sure to include the olive oil and garlic as well as plenty of bread. These women went above and beyond. She had the broiled seafood platter and I had the Veal Saltimbocca. You also receive a big bowl of wonderful salad with their Italian dressing, as well as bread and dipping oil with garlic.. Each entree comes with two sides, either two vegetables or pasta and vegetable. I also ordered the penne vodka with grilled chicken to take home to my Spoiled, I mean Wonderful daughter. I know they boil countless pounds of pasta daily, but they need to knock off maybe 3 minutes to make it AL DENTE!! It's not rocket science, and a true Italian Restaurant can understand the importance of the perfectly cooked pasta. As always, the food is great and service at the bar was stellar. The headline is: WORST LOBSTER ROLL I'VE EVER HAD. A friend treated me to dinner last night at Marchetti's. I ordered the $35 lobster roll, which came with a side of fries and a salad. Honest to God, it was THE WORST lobster roll I have ever had. The quantity of lobster was generous, but it was the most tasteless lobster I've ever eaten. It tasted liked it had been frozen and re-frozen. I've never thrown lobster in the garbage, but I threw the leftovers out. The roll wasn't even toasted. The butter was BARELY warmed. The diner-quality fries were likewise dry and tasteless. I'd rather have half the portion of lobster, but have it be FRESH on a nice toasted, buttered bun served with hot melted butter with a side of hand-cut parmesan fries. That's what you expect for $35, Marchetti's. I'm sure they'd say, "Why didn't you say something?" Because I was being treated to dinner. Sometimes you just suck it up for manners sake, but I will never go back. read more

We all know this place is known for it's affordability and generous portions, making it the local RI mecca it is, but don't expect the quality to be on par with anything on Federal Hill or any truly authentic Italian restaurant. Not sure if it was because it was a Sunday night but the bolognese was bland (hamburg being the only meat used didn't help), the chicken saltimbocca was a bit of a sloppy mess that tasted only ok, but nothing you'd want to order again. The bread and olive oil/garlic dip was delicious though, as was the "Olive Garden" style salad. I'm thinking they ran out of butter as none was supplied with the baked potato, or the bread. I will no doubt eat here again but not on a Sunday, as a year prior I had gone on a Saturday night and the bolognese was notably better. Bottom line: go here if you're starving and on a budget, but to avoid disappointment keep your taste expectations low, especially if you have a discriminating palate. read more

This place is absolutely phenomenal. The service is great. The food is so tasty. Their portions are very generous. This restaurant is always a go to for my family. I took my dad out to dinner for his birthday. The calamari was wicked good. I got the chicken parm with Alfredo. They make their own Alfredo sauce here and you should absolutely try it. By far, the best Alfredo I have ever had. I would have given this place 5 stars, but I feel as though they don't pay much attention when making the food. I DO NOT like red sauce one bit. I reiterated this to my waitress. I told her that I hated red sauce and to not have red sauce on ANY part of the dish. Now, I'm not sure if this was her fault or the kitchens, but when my dish came out there the pasta was in a bunch of red sauce. The man who served it to me didn't even get to put it down on the table before I sent it back. Not big on Italian-American food, but decided to try Marchetti's with a friend on a weekday night. I like how they give out bread and salad along with their traditional homemade dressing. My friend and I ordered a calamari appetizer, where I was able to take some of it home for leftovers. For my entree, I ordered their seafood alfredo with linguini. The portions were HUGE. It was very creamy with a good amount of lobster, scallops, and shrimp. Additionally, the service was fast, friendly, and attentive. I would definitely go back to try other options. read more

My first experience at Marchetti's and will definitely be back. The food was really good and service was great! My only complaint is the vibe and setup of the restaurant feels more like a sports bar/restaurant with TVs all over the main dining area. I realize it's not a "fine dining" establishment but just feel as though the TVs aren't necessary. Purely in my opinion though. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo and my fiancé had the veal parm. Both were huge portions and needed carry out containers. Dinner was accompanied with bread and olive oil along with salads. We split a tiramisu for desert. It was yummy and I'd guess it was fresh and not store bought. Our sever checked on us often and was professional and friendly.
