I really don't understand what all the hype was about with this place. The food was average at best, in fact I think its on the same level as Olive Garden. Delicious authentic Italian food at a good price! I usually stick with the Chicken Parm meal. They give you two large pieces of chicken! The place is a zoo on weekend. Try to avoid weekends if possible because finding parking it's almost impossible. I normally do take out. I deducted a star because they need to work out on the take out orders. You just awkwardly stand there for about 5-10 minutes until someone finally notices you. They should have someone constantly checking that area. But other then that I love this place! read more

It's a lot of decent food for a cheap price. The only thing that I'm really in love with is the carbonara. It is really sad to see what has happened to the clientele. Standard Italian family-style fare. Efficient staff, huge crowds, and huge plates. It's a standard for the area and a pretty safe bet. I made reservations for my mother's birthday, we were seated promptly. Our server was the best, food not so great. Portion were fine, but my sister's steak was overdone, she ordered it Medium. My mom and I both ordered Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was a an Alfredo sauce mixed with pasta and Lobster. It wasn't even baked! Love Marchettis! Sometimes i feel as though it's a hit or miss with your server, but they are always very very pleasant and nice, but they are always pretty busy so it sometimes is a wait for a refill or to talk to your server, but I personally don't mind. The food is delicious, the penne with pink vodka sauce never fails me! The eggplant parm is very good as well. And the portions they give are insanely huge. Had a reservation for a booth for six at 4:00. When we arrived the hostess wanted to seat us in the small (and very loud) room to the right of the hostess station. When I made the reservation I specifically requeated NOT to be seated in this area. We ended up waiting a half an hour for the booth originally requested. So much for honoring preferences. The service was good once seated, but the meal was more than ordinary. Don's special meatballs were bland and my husband said that he has had better frozen lasagna (Stouffer's). Yes, the portions are huge! If you are looking for a loud, cheaply priced, Italian atmosphere with OK food that will continue to feed you for several days, this is your place. Personally, we prefer to pay a bit more for personalized service and smaller high quality entrees. Folks, do yourself a favor and try Elizabeth of Portafino in Warwick for exceptional Italian cuisine and attention to detail. Won't be going back to Marchetti's. Oh, and by the way, they no longer offer their famous lobster roll because according to our server the price is too high. I have been dining at Marchetti's for many years now...we LOVE their food, and enjoy calling for takeout on a Friday night. We went today for my best friends birthday, her lobster roll that she ordered could blow away any restaurant, down the coast, that serves them, forget a hotdog roll, it looked as if her lobster was on a half a loaf of italian bread, STUFFED with lobster, it was out of this world!! They cater to those of us who enjoy going out to eat and can't spend alot of money..their food is superb and we are glad we are close by to patron their restaurant as often as we do. Don't waste your time or money. Staff has no knowledge of customer service. Food is swimming in oil and reheated in microwave. Portions may be large but there is no quality. Mashed potatoes are great if u r feeding an infant 100% baby food. Do not go in large groups waitstaff is not competent to get your bill right or even correct it in the computer. I am in a hotel on business for a couple of months this this was awful!!!!!!! I was given a small salad wich has a half of a cup of dressing looked like soup. The chicken Milanese was pieces of chicken in a casarole dish with alfredo sauce and way too much cheese baked it tasted absolutely disgusting I will never return. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Never been so disappointed with a restaurant in my life, my co workers and i ordered from there, about 14 orders, the online menu stated that the food came with salad. The waitress over the phone while ordering said other wise, when getting to the restaurant i asked to speak to an owner. The owner came over in a rude manor, saying "What did you need?" No, you should say "How can i help you?" Asked about why it doesn't specify on the menu that salad doesn't come with take out orders, he said "You're not getting salad" and walked away as i was STILL talking. Unfortunately Marchetti's has now become 1 of my top restaurants to not return to. I went there yesterday with my husband & son. This was the 1st time we got right in, we did have a reservation. Once we were seated, our server came over, never introduced himself, nor did he tell us about the daily specials. The 1st words out of his mouth were. " what do you want to drink". I proceeded to ask him a question, I wanted to know if I could order something specific. What I got in return was a big "Absolutely Not. He could have at least said, let me ask my manager.. I was dumbfounded. He again asked, what do you want to drink!!!! We did order our food, which is always good here, but never once did he return to our table to see if everything was ok, or if we needed anything else. When we were done, he came over with the to-go containers, but again, never asked if we wanted coffee & dessert. I might be able to understand his rudeness, IF the place was jammed packed, but it was not. He returned to our table with the check and that was it. That's the only way I found out this guy's name. Needless to say, I found Robert to be very Rude and very Unprofessional. If it were up to me he never would have gotten a tip. But in all due respect, I know tips are also divvied up amongst others. So from me, Marchetti's gets 2 stars for good food. But definitely ZERO for customer service. Very very rude.. read more

Two of my friends and myself came to eat here as well as do a school project on this place. We made a reservation a few days before which didn't matter after a half an hour had passed and we still weren't seated. The waiter was so disconnected and kept calling us "kids"; I even ordered a drink from the bar so I was clearly over 21. The waiter was very rude when he came over to ask how things were and that was if he even came over at all. Come dessert time, we found a hair in the tiramisu which we had to ask if it was going to get taken off the bill. We all thought that was a normal thing to do seeing we go to a culinary college. We asked for the manager to come over (which was also the owner) and he didn't care! The place was so dark with clunky decorations. The table was mostly clean, with the exception of some crumbs near the back next to the wall. As much as the experience was really bad, the food tasted good. The portion of the entree fed the three of us and we took some home. The appetizer portion was small for the price. The dessert was good while it lasted but nothing to go back for. If it wasn't for the project and everyone saying it was a good place, i would have never came here. read more

It has taken me almost 3 years to write this review. I'm not a native RIer, so my restaurant experiences run from the very best [my family], to my in-laws [think: large portions that are cheap]. I finally gave in and went there with husband's family. After several mediocre visits, we finally hit the *can it get any worse?* visit. They are known for their huge portions. By huge, I mean the cow is literally brought to the table and the prime rib slab cut off as you wait. Salads are communal; French fry platters are huge. Staff literally run in every direction. Patrons and staff slam into whomever is the unfortunate person sitting on the aisle. This is not fine dining... the noise level is unbearable. In the summer, the doors to the outside area are opened frequently and the restaurant is buzzing with flies. [No better system, I guess.] My veal parm was always just.. average. The tomato/marinara sauce is 'unattended'- did anyone ever TASTE or test it for the acidity level? At the very. last. visit.- having been banged in the shoulder 4 times, a full tray banged into my head.. the food arrived. At exactly the same time a cockroach crawled across the cubicle divider from MIL to husband. Yes- the very same cockroaches that abhor and eschew light/people/noise. I called the waiter over [by this time that wily old roach had disappeared into a crack in the woodwork] and pointed this out.. he blankly stared at me & said he would tell 'someone'. The next morning I called one of the owners. The owner 'taught' me that all restaurants have cockroaches, but I simply never noticed. They are serviced for pest control every 2 weeks. My suggestion that they shut down for 2 weeks for thorough cleaning, pest management and inspection was met with 'that's not going to happen'. I was not snippy, just factual. No compensation for almost $80 hard-earned dollars was offered. Grotesque. read more

This was by far the worst experience i had going out to eat. Growing up in RI Marchetti's was always the spot to get great food and great portions. This is why last night my family and I wanted to go to dinner for my little brother's birthday. We were a party of 20 (which we called a week in advance to make the reservations) all but the birthday boy was there well before 730 (this was a surprise dinner). We did not get seated until 7:50 (thank god the birthday boy was late). After being seated the waiter wanted to inform us of what wasn't on the menu.......real......so here it goes he informed us that they are out of the following; unbreaded chicken F**King out of the most basic type of meat out there chicken breast ( which is on 50 percent of all items on this menu), snail salad, scallops, baby shrimp, salmon, swordfish, garlic bread (come on how does an Italian place run out of garlic bread) i sure there was a couple of things i am missing. So i ordered the Chicken Milanese (Italian Cookery. a. (esp. of meats) coated with flour or bread crumbs and browned in hot oil or butter. b. (esp. of pasta) having a sauce of tomatoes, mushrooms, grated cheese, shredded meat, and truffles: spaghetti Milanese.) what come out was a large hot bowl of a bechamel base thick soup/dip with 2 pounds of cheese and 6 pieces of chicken. A yes let me add that the dish was so burnt it was black top and bottom. I simply asked the server that i could not eat it and would like another. Which he kindly did. I feel bad for this server who had to deal with all these problems not one manager came by to talk to us. we did not receive any discount for all the inconvenience. I will not be going back to this place nor will i recommend it to any one. Its sad to see a place that use to be one of the best restaurant in RI now so shitty. read more

To begin with, we went during lunch and had to wait for a table (30minutes). There was so much traffic coming and going in the area as the restrooms are located near the entrance. The hostess was very nice and more than accommodating, however the same could not be said for the waitress. She asked how food was even before a bite was taken and didn't come back with the additional drink and sauce until the food was just about gone. The food....was terrible. I ordered crab cakes and they were frozen and fried and fell apart as soon as I put my fork in. All I could taste was the terrible fried taste! Yuk! The shrimp was fine with cocktail sauce (can't go too wrong on that). The calamari was less than stellar and the waitress presented that with the sauce spilled all over the plate. All in all, I would never spend money to eat there...the only positive part of that dining experience was the hostess.... read more

I am totally disappointed. Years ago, we had our Wedding Reception here at Marchetti's as I wanted a smaller get together for guests because this was our 2nd wedding. This was a celebration after having our marriage Blessed in Church before I started my chemo. The food was killer. Just absolutely awesome and service was spectacular. We have been here a few times since. Its been over a year since coming back as we moved to CT on the NY line. As an awesome gift from my daughter and son in law. We spent last night at the Crowne Plaza enjoying their NY's Eve celebration. As a further surprise for us reservations were made to have a late lunch-early dinner at 3 at Marchetti's. I have been wanting the famous Baked Stuffed Lobster Roll. We were seated and yes they were extremely busy. We waited about 20 minutes for our server to come and he introduced himself as Andrea. We ordered our drinks, my husband and I coffee, my daughter a glass of wine and water, my son in law beer and my grandaughter water with lemon. He came with the water w/lemon, glass of wine and bottle of beer. We had to ask 3 times after that to get the coffee, my daughters glass of water and a glass for my son inlaws beer. Then he came for our order. I ordered the lobster roll, baked stuffed like advertised on the board, hubby had spaghetti and sausages. My daughter ordered some chicken dish with italian ham and linguini pasta. Along with our 3 meals were 1 more dish and 2 appetizers. Calamari a la mama, and stuffed mushroom caps. Although the meals came with salad and bread with oliveoil and garlic dipping oil. WE never received the salad and instead he delivered 3 bowls of soup, to 3 out of 5 of us. Sorry, we just didnt order or want soup. We asked about the salad and bread, we did not get the salad and the bread came to us after getting our appetizers. The bread was not warm, actually refrigerator cold. The calamari dish was soggy and when my granddaughter took a bite there was a piece of thin metal that she spit out. It looked like a piece of steel wool or a piece from a metal scrubber. As she was showing it to us, my daughter pulled out a small piece of plastic from the dish. That was it for that app. The mushroom caps were delishious. Our server was nowhere to be found so as the Hostess was seating a couple behind us we asked to see her. We showed her the metal and she agreed it did look like a piece of metal from a scrubber. That girl asked if we wanted it replaced we said no thank you and she said she would have it taken off from our bill. Then the main meal came, my husbands dish was fine, my daughter received penne pasta instead of linguini. I received, baked stuffed shrimp..not the baked stuffed lobster roll I ordered. The server said oh sorry and took it away. He came back and said I would have the lobster roll in 5-6 minutes. 20 minutes later after nearly everyone had finished their meals mine arrived. I will not lie, it was huge and it was delicious. But, after the metal and all the blunders and inattentive server I do not think we will be back. My husband owned a restaurant for many years and had there ever been problems such as this, we would have comped the entire meal for that party, reprimanded the server and or given better training to him, we would have never just comped the appetizer that had both the metal and piece of plastic in it. read more

We had a reservation for 6:15 got there at 6:05 and was told 10 minutes and no problem figured at least 10-20 minutes. We waited 30 minutes then my girlfriend went up and asked how much longer and the hostess said we were next. The hostess then preceded to call 3-4 more parties until our friend went up and asked what was going on. The hostess then told him that we were 3rd on the list until my girlfriend went up and said that she told us we were next. We were then sat a few minutes later, and the waiter brought my girlfriend's friend a glass with lipstick on it and brought me a regular Ed Hardy Sangria. So I told the waiter I expected the Sangria with fruit juices not the regular wine since I don't normally care for wine. He said he couldn't take it back so we asked for the manager cause this was ridiculous. Then we told the manager about the wait problem and now the drink problem. He then said he would fix the drinks and the first round was on him, so we were like ok fine no biggie. We then order our food and get calamari for all of us as an appetizer and each order an entree. We get our salads and finish them, asking for a refill on the wine and coffee. We never get a refill on the coffee and wait another 20 minutes before we then have to ask the waiter where our calamari was, where he then says we never ordered it until he looks at his notepad and realizes we did. Then about 10-15 minutes later he comes around the corner with our entrees and no calamari, puts my plate in front of me which is covered with calamari which was not part of my entree. We then ask for the manager again and explain how we got no appetizer and i got a totally wrong entree. He then pretty much just asked if i want what i ordered and i say yes and he walks away. We don't get waited on for another 15-20 minutes until everyone else is done with their entrees and i am still waiting on mine. I then tell the waiter to forget mine and that we are done and don't want anything else and that something should be done for the terrible service. They do nothing but bring us the bill with the second wine on it and the 3 entrees which the waiter told us he would take off the second wine before when he forgot the appetizer. we pay the 3 entrees and no tip but a penny because of the absolutely terrible service and disrespect we received from one of the what used to be the best restaurant in RI for italian food to me. It is now the worst and I will never and suggest to you all never to go there unless you want terrible service and the wrong food and dirty Glasses!!!!! Thank you MARCHETTI"S and your terrible waiter and crappy pretty boy blonde hair manager who did not care to help our night for dinner any better. Thank GOd for deserts at GREGG's. Went to Marchetti's in Cranston last night for their infamous prime rib! My husband and I talked about it for days and skipped lunch so that we could thoroughly enjoy the mouth watering oversized prime rib of beef!! Well so incredibly disappointed when we found out that they no longer offered it. I had checked their website earlier in the day to ensure that the prime rib was indeed available and it stated that it was. The level of our disappointed was off the charts! The only thing that softened our depression was the uplifting, high-spirited, compassionate and empathetic waitress Serenna. What a pure delight she was and made the dinner experience a completely enjoyable evening. Serenna truly saved the night as we were down in the dumps when we learned no prime rib!! Marchetti's still delivers overwhelming portions and high quality food, but sadly, no prime rib!! Great evening with our loved cousins!!! read more

So my family and myself went here on Saturday night. I'm on vacation from LA but I grew up in Rhode Island. I've worked in fine dining in Providence as well as the LA area. We had reservations so we didn't have to wait which was nice. It was busy Saturday night you know most nice restaurants are busy on the weekend. You know we did have to wait a little longer for drinks and for our order to be taken but as fellow server and bartender I understand that service is not going to be as fast as you would like it. Appetizers were served, the expeditor or a fellow server came with our calamari as well as another appetizer. I had my youngest nephew who is one and a half in a high chair at the end of the table he had managed to spill marinara sauce all over this poor kid. And then after that he hands my mother a hot plate without even saying that it's hot and anyone in the business( I don't care if you work at Friendlys) know is that if you have a hot dish you let your guests know ahead of time before handing it to them. He said he would come back with a hot towel but he's probably too embarrassed to even do so and then we had to ask for one. Our waiter then tried to control the situation but he should have gotten a manager involved ASAP! My brother even went up the lady that works there not sure if she's the owner or something and told her about the situation. You know the dinner wasn't great myself and my mothers steak was cooked opposite of what we had asked for. We didn't want to complain cuz we didn't want to wait another 2 hours to get our meals. And what pisses me off the most many people that worked in this establishment new about the debacle in the beginning of our meal and they didn't even compensate our appetizers or anything. My mother paid the bill came out to the car and then made me aware that they did not do anything for us I therefore ask my brother to go up to that lady and mention it to her and then she said there's nothing we can do about it you've already paid the bill. Now this is total b******* I've worked in restaurants for over 10 years high end and family restaurant there's always something you can do to make the guest happy and to make sure they come back. Yes, mistakes do happen but that's with the management is for to fix the mistakes and make everyone happy at the end of the day. No I am NOT a happy guest and I will not be going back and I will make sure my friends and their families do not go back as well. read more

Just had the worst experience at Marchetti's restaurant. Walked in at 5:08 and told it would be an hour and a half wait. After waiting an hour I went up to see how close we were to being seated and was told that I only had been waiting an hour and would still have to wait for another half hour. While waiting numerous people were seated ahead of us with reservations. I guess if you don't call ahead you have to wait the hour and half before they even consider seating you. While we waited, another couple came in and was told the same. The gentleman asked if there was any more prime rib. It was now 6:45. The hostess told him yes there was and asked if he would like to reserve one. He did. We were seated and when ordering, My husband asked for the prime rib. We were told that they ran out of the prime rib at 5:00 pm.! I told our waitress this was not true because at 6:45 a customer came in and reserved one for 8:30p.m. She told us unless it was friend of family that wasn't possible. We ordered something different. I don't understand if they ran out at 5:00 p.m. he could possibly reserve one at 7:00 for an 8:30 dinner. He was not friend or family!! While we were finishing our dinner, 2 tables opened up opposite us. A young group of about 8 people were to be seated in the 2 booths. The hostess looked over at us and told them that if they wanted to wait, we were leaving and they could have our table!! We hadn't even gotten our check yet. Now they are kicking us out!! If we didn't have our young granddaughter with us who was very tired already from a 3 and a half hour stay at the restaurant and being her bedtime, I would have had a cup of coffee and sat there for another hour!! Very rude people and they lie directly to your face. I guess because you have a good reputation you can take advantage of customers because you know they will wait! If I didn't have a gift certificate, I would not have. And if you know you are out of Prime rib by 5:00 p.m. you would think that an announcement would be made for the people who are waiting to order it! But I'm sure if they did, half of those customers would leave! I will not be going to Marchetti's ever again. read more

There was a group of 5 of us. We all received our drinks in a timely manner but our server seemed in a hurry. Our salad plates were hot and all the dressing in our salad was on the bottom making it soupy. We ordered Veal with brown gravy was good but the vegetables were ice cold. The lasagna was really salty and had way too much sauce. The chicken Marsala was soupy and the pasta was not good. The chicken penne dish with chicken and peppers was nasty and had a chicken bone in it. The Mediterranean chicken was lacking salt and the butter sauce was like soup. All of our entree dishes were cold. When we went to pay our bill, we asked for separate checks and the waitress got angry because we hadn't asked sooner, and did not fix our bill. We paid for our bill together and person included the tip in her bill amount and when the waitress found out she was very angry and wanted us to double tip her.
