I love Davy Jones Deli, and my family and I take any excuse to stop there when we're passing through Sausalito. It's right off the freeway so it's easy off and on. We usually sit in the park behind the deli and look at the house boats while we eat our sandwiches. So nice. I love the sandwiches because they make all the meats and toppings fresh every day and create really creative, delicious sandwiches. It's hard to find sandwiches with real homemade meats and lots of veggies and homemade sauces that aren't mustard or Russian dressing. I also love the Twerks, which is the delicious veggie topping combo you can get on your sandwiches: Spinach, Arugula, Cucumber, Carrots, Radish, Beets, Green Sprouts & Bean Sprouts, Salt, Fresh Lemon, Pepper, Roasted Garlic and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauces. I usually get the turkey pesto melt with the twerks, and it's a top five sandwich. I dream about it. I've tried some of the veggie wraps, my partner loves the pork sandwiches, and my daughter gets a grilled cheese on Dutch crunch. All delicious. The only negative is that the sandwiches are expensive and take a while but the quality and flavor make it worth it. We usually call ahead to order so we don't have to wait long. read more

You might not expect to find an amazing sandwich shop at this Liquor store- but that is the greatest local secret. The liquor store guy is a total sweetheart and always so polite and kind. The sandwhich part is to the left upon entry. What is so amazing about these sandwiches are the spiraled veggies that top your sandwich! So fresh! Includes beets! Just a pile of fresh vitamins that tastes amazing on whatever you get. The minimum you might get is the "Werks" but the super variety would be the "Twerks"- which I always go for. Now, they don't top the sandwich as tall as when I was first brought here- but nonetheless no one makes such a delicious sandwich & as unique as this. It can be hard to decide but just ask for help- they are great at helping you. I tend to get the "Hot Mama" like I am. Lol And my kids love this sandwich in a green tortilla and hummus and veggies- hold the jalapeños called the "Vulcan Wrap" with almond pesto and the twerks. Everyone they bring they try this. The ambiance is a liquor store in Marin city by the house boats and next to the freeway and bike trails between Sausalito and Mill Valley. What a hidden gem! It is located within a convenience store and there isn't really signage about it that's big and obvious - just a small standing board outside so keep your eyes open! Big menu with lots of options from different types of meat to vegetarian. The menu is slightly confusing and difficult to read so we asked one of the employees their favorite and went with those options. You order at the counter and pay at the register on the opposite side so make sure to pick up some drinks and snacks on the way! The two stars are based on value. Ordered a brisket sandwich. The sandwich was delicious, but the price was super unreasonable, no matter how good it was. The base sandwich with 1/4 lb of meat was $22. Possibly the most expensive sandwich I've seen anywhere (no sides, just the sando). Then I asked for extra meat, and they charged me $12 for an additional 4oz of meat. That is CRAZY!!! The total price after tax was just over $37... We pulled into the Harbor Center and were a little confused. The Deli is located inside the Bait Shop Market. The Market is part Bait Shop, part Liquor Store, part General Store and looks to be the go-to spot for people who live or work nearby on the water. Davey Jones Deli is known for their sandos so my niece ordered the Chef's Ham and cheddar panini - she didn't want all the accoutrements and the staff were happy to accommodate and make her simple sandwich. Her eyes lit up after her first bite and she exclaimed that it was the best sandwich! Two of us were intrigued by the vegan Vulcan Wrap (a bestseller) and the Booty Bowl. We opted for Booty Bowls and we were happy with our hearty, healthy choice! What's in a Booty Bowl, you ask? What's not in it?! Check out this abundant ingredient list: Quinoa, Apple, Carrot, Cucumber, Radish, Beet, Tomato, Pickle, Onion, Bell Pepper, Cilantro, Cabbage, tossed in Hummus, Balsamic, Roasted Garlic and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauces I asked for no bell peppers and my sister asked for no dressing. Beyond lost for words. On a road trip with two close friends of mine and what was supposed to be a quick stop for a bite turned into the most memorable experience for the entire trip. We're all from LA and we don't see much authentic delis here. I ordered the chicken and almond pesto on dutch-crunch, until this day I have never found or tasted a sandwich that comes even remotely close to that one. We tried a few more sandwich shops during our time in the bay but, Davey Jones was always the topic at the end of every last bite. We stumbled upon this place after hiking near Mt. Tam. It's located inside the New Bait Shop Market. They have a big menu. We tried the Booty Bowl and Uncle (both $10). I loved the Booty Bowl. I initially thought it was small, but because the salad bowl has no leafy veggie (instead is filled with cucumber, pepper, beets, apple, carrots, hummus etc.), the portion is quite generous and it's pretty filling. The sandwich is also delicious. I like how they cut it in half and individually wrap each half. I agree with some other reviews the sandwich is on the smaller end. I love Davey Jones! I saw this place highlighted on Check Please Bay Area and was so intrigued. The location was tricky at first for us to find but it's at the Sausalito exit in a little Plaza that's right by the water and yachts. The deli is located inside a little market/corner store. They have a pretty good selection in their menu and the staff is usually pretty nice and patient while we try to decide which to try next. You can even see the owner himself making the sandwiches and wraps which was pretty cool. You can get the ingredients in a traditional sandwich bread like Dutch crunch or you can get it wrapped. I always ask for mine to be in a green wrap because it just makes me feel healthier. Lol! My favorite by far is the P3 which has pulled pork and I ask for extra arugula! I ate mine faster than I thought about taking a picture so I'll post one next time :) We ordered the grandpa as well which has brisket and fresh bell peppers and other veggies. We've also tried the Uncles which has pork and jalapeños among other things. I feel like it's hard to go wrong with any of the items here as everything has always been so fresh and left me feeling satisfied and not gross since it had lots of veggies in it. I definitely recommend getting your order wraps in a green wrap. If it's hard for you to commit they also have pre-made ones in the small fridge next to the ordering window. Theyre just half pieces of the "sandwiches that are in a wrap. We found ourselves in the area after a day of passport processing. Yelp told us to go here, but could not find the place. We later realized it was in a random bodega type store. Go inside and place your order and wait outside. They make it adamantly clear that you should wait outside. I got the TBA. Turkey bacon avocado. Took a bit, but got my sandwich and parked out back near the water. Great views by the way. The grub was good, but there was something keeping me from getting excited over it. Bread was just ok, a few hours from calling it stale enough not to serve. Fillings were decently good. Definitely fresh, but the combination of stuff in it was different. I mean, good different, but not your typical stuff, especially the arugula and other greens. I like it, but the bread could use some work. And for me, bread is a huge thing. The sandwiches were great, especially the ones that they make to order. The ham and mozzarella sandwich was very fresh and not too big. The bread was perfectly toasted and the ham was sliced thin. There was also a good amount of vegetables. I got the pre-made sandwiches and was kind of disappointed. The bread was borderline soggy and it just didn't taste as good as the toasted one. However, when you buy the pre-made ones you can mix and match with other types of sandwiches or buy a half order if that's what you want. I've been coming to Davey Jones deli for years. It's my favorite place to stop at when heading into Stinson for the day or for a hike at Mt. Tam. I've tried almost all of their sandwiches, but my favorite is a classic turkey sandwich with the works (twerks if I'm feeling a little extra that day). Price is reasonable and my favorite part is that they package your sandwich into two separate halves. That way if you only want to eat half, then the other half is perfectly preserved in its own packaging. 10/10 recommend them! read more

And this was the size difference compared to what is actually is posted and displayed on here and their website.. This place is inside of a mini mart, and they have great COVID protocols (make you wait outside). They make the best turkey sandwich: the White Boy Supreme. It's a simple turkey sandwich, but really hits the spot if you're craving something fresh and meaty. They use real turkey pieces too, not sliced deli, which makes it even better. Mr. L sandwich is great if you want something with a ton of different flavors. It's pricier than the other sandwiches, and personally I don't think its worth the price point, but it was good. You can really taste the weird combo of pesto, bacon, sweet balsamic, and bell pepper all at once. As good as Mr. L is, I loved the White Boy Supreme because of the amazing sauce flavor. I appreciated that they cut it in half but I do wish the wrap was a little bigger it was a good size but I felt that I still needed a snack after. I'm a bit dumbfounded. This is where expectations and reality don't align. Came in yesterday for a sandwich after seeing the rating. The guy working the counter wasn't very friendly. When asked for suggestions he didn't know the menu well enough to give one out. His response was it's whatever you like. I don't know what that even means or how that response helps in deciding. The menu itself is pretty busy adding to the confusion. And some of the sandwiches seemed slightly redundant. And various options/upgrades that don't make a whole difference for a sandwich. Cut the options out. Focus on fewer but higher quality ingredients. Keep it simple all around. And maybe they need a more clear menu. In terms of sandwich-the amount of turkey in the sandwich was minuscule and perhaps a bit old. The veggies seemed mushy/wilted. The whole sandwich seemed mushy. I didn't eat the second half but was still hungry. Just unacceptable especially for the price they are charging. Sandwich's here don't come cheap, which I don't mind if it doesn't seem cheaply made. Also having an Italian sandwich option would be good. It's probably among the most popular type of sandwich, so for a shop not to have one is an interesting choice. Worth every penny. The menu is so extensive I asked the sandwich maker to recommend one, he suggested the Turkey BLT with avocado. I took his advice and went to the register to pay, the clerk said $20 so I yelled across to the deli to see if they had made a mistake (I didn't look at the menu on the wall) a nice guy yelled back, (turns out to be Davey) this is not just any old BLT it's made with the finest ingredients and it's loaded with yum. I waited as the sandwich maker went to work, carefully toasting my bun and lathering it up with delicious greens, onions, sauces and love. I couldn't wait to eat it! Fresh, delicious, and perfectly portioned. This place is the definition of unassuming from the outside, but once you pick up your sandwich, you know you did the right thing. The meat is always freshly roasted and perfectly tender. The sauces, rubs, and marinades are making my mouth water again just thinking about them. I ordered the X and my wife had the Surfin Bird. Both were perfect. While the meat is delicious, the fixings put it over the top. The twerks should be on every sandwich, all the time. Everything was so fresh. Highly recommend for a picnic around Sausalito or for a hike in Marin. We did the SCA trail towards Slacker Hill for a gorgeous view. read more

Best sandwiches I've ever had. To the people who didn't rate them 5 stars: you're an idiot. And to the person who called the Rando Sando Abhorrent - you're a terrible human being and worse yelper. I've waited a long time to write this review because honestly, I'd rather less people know about this HIDDEN GEM. Everything here is house made, particularly the seasonings and greens. The Rando Sando (chef's special) is my go to. It usually involves brisket, Dutch Crunch (with the middle taken out!), pickled beets (unreal), house special greens, and god knows what else. The combinations they make, I would never think to try and are OFF THE CHARTS. And oh, each sandwich half comes individually wrapped.
