INSULTED And ROBED .. That's how we feel. Let me preface by saying, My wife and I have been together almost 40 years. We go out to eat at least twice a week and our average bill is $70 plus..so conservatively we have dined out a minimum four thousand times. Never have we experienced this. My wife ordered the evenings special entree, Australian lamb chops a.k.a. rack of lamb. She asked how many do you get? Four our waitress replied. Sounds good my wife said and placed her order. We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked and we didn't ask the price. When it came out it was cooked medium/well. My wife was disappointed at the first bite, our waitress asked how it was and my wife told her it was way over cooked, our waitress offered to replace the meal but my wife said no, I don't want to be a pain. First bite out of the second rib and my wife was done. Again our waitress asked and this time my wife said she wasn't enjoying them so she took her plate away. I will get you one cooked better our waitress said. When the replacement came there were only TWO pieces.. Really, what an insult, the meal had four. They were cooked properly and my wife enjoyed them. When the bill came the charge was $38.95 ..Wow.. After we left, out of curiosity I called back and asked what the special was and how much was it. The answer..Lamb special $26.95 So Marcos only replaced the two untouched pieces and he charged us extra for them! So to sum it up, Marcos insulted us by only re-serving half the meal and stole from us. I paid the bill and left a good tip. As we left I spoke to Marco himself to express our dissatisfaction, End result he couldn't care less. read more

It was my girlfriend's birthday last monday night, so I decided to take her to Marco's, as I had heard great things about this place. My experience though, proved differently. The service was unattentive and very slow. The waitress did not notice us for more than 20 minutes as we had no water and no drinks. I realize that sometimes restaurants might get busy, but that was not the case as I saw her talking and laughing with what seemed to be a cook. My girlfriend had to gesture at her so we could be noticed. As the waitress approached us, she did not apologise for the long wait but asked us to order in a rude and unfriendly manner. My girlfriend ordered a Chardonnay, and I ordered a Cosmo. The drinks were very good, but everytime we needed a water refill we had to ask for it. For dinner we ordered a bruschetta appetizer, a spaghetti dish and a gigantic chicken cutlet topped with tomatoes and arugula. The food was generally good, with the pasta being delicious but the chicken cutlet was overcooked in the sides. While I appreciate that the serving portion of the cutlet was enough for 3 people, I was looking for quality, not quantity, and I was never asked whether the food was ok. For desert we ordered a cannoli, which was just ok. Overall, it was not a terrible exprerience, but it was far from good and what I had heard about this place. I eat out with the best of them and have been doing so in the Boston area for many a year - including all of the North End. Marco's is by far the best Italian food I've ever had !! It is quite honestly a GIFT to be able to walk in to a place like Marco's and enjoy food that is mind-blowingly good and the prices are very reasonable not to mention the impeccable service. Enjoy while you can - soon reservations will be out months in advance and you will wish you had taken advantage while you had the opportunity!!! I will add to this later but for now I will leave you with a list of tried and true: best red sauce hands down - put it on everything !! meatballs - everyone at the table tried them and all agreed - best ever ceasar salad - fantastic with a couple hidden gems ! chicken parm - wow - i won't even ruin the surprise caprese salad - fresh mozzarella to die for - you won't be able to go back to regular rigatoni - seriously solid - get it with the fresh fusilli and you will have trouble eating elsewhere ever again read more

Great food, Great Service, Nice atmosphere, Excellent price!! Started with an appetizer: BRUSHETTA AL POMODORO. This was a nicely toasted homemade bread with tomato and basil. Fresh ingredients, and quite flavorful with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It set the stage of what was to come. Main dish: BUCATINI ALLA AMATRICIANA. Flavors integrated well. Pancetta added incredible taste to this dish. My husband ordered this, but I ended up stealing his plate in the end. RIGATONI ALLA BOLOGNESE. Pasta cooked to perfection. Savory meat sauce. Will definitively order again. Dessert: Sweet Crepe: NUTELLA. Crepe with Warm creamy nutella inside. This was out of this world! An unexpected delight! TIRAMISU. Light in texture, not heavy. It was our first time there. The restaurant is nice. The food was definitely authentic Italian. Being Italian myself, I am extremely particular about Italian food. While there food was delicious, the prices are too high. I don't mind spending money on my favorite pastime, but the portions are very small. So a small pasta dish with meatballs was either $14 or $15. We ordered Calamari for an appetizer which was a normal portion, however, it was $14 or $15 without any sauce. I asked for a small side sauce of Marinara. It was certainly that, but at a cost of $2.50. The pasta is very limited. No Angel Hair, Fusilli, etc. The menu needs to be expanded. There was one chicken dish and one meat dish and their seafood changes so frequently that they are not listed on the menu. Lastly, I ordered coffee. The coffee came in a little teacup size and was $3. I think I will keep searching for that perfect Italian restaurant with acceptable portion sizes and reasonable prices. read more

I've had the opportunity to try marcos food by ordering takeout long before I came for dinner with my family the other night. The food is very good, and if it is your lucky night, the haddock might be on the special's list and is absolutely exquisite. However, I wanted to see how would it be to dine in, and I am sad to say that I was somewhat disappointed with the service. Our waitress was irritated and was pushing very hard to get our entire order right away, and my husband felt like he was being rushed throughout the dinner. The same happend when we asked for our bill. She was being impolite and in a hurry to send us on our way. That was not nice and we did not feel welcomed. However, our family loves the food in this place, and we will give it another shot in the future. But something needs to be done about the service. Until then, I can only give 3 stars read more

My husband and I were on our way to Maine for the long weekend and we decided to grab a qiuck bite at this place. As we sat at the bar, we were cheerfully greeted by the friendly young bartender. The place was small but cozy. We were convinced to order the haddock, which was a special that night. Our bartender, Leo, was very helpful in pairing my dinner with a nice glass of wine. The portions were plentiful, and the food was delicious. The haddock came with a lemony sauce with shrimp which we both loved and enjoyed. The salads were great also, and their portions were huge. Prices were reasonable and the place was nice, clean and quiet. I was definitely surprised by the food and the service, as I was not expecting to have such an enjoyable experience. But looks from the outside can be deceiving, and we will certainly stop by for dinner on our way back. read more

WARNING ... If you go to this restaurant make sure you look at your food before you eat it ... I found some kind of Bug in my Caesar salad. Then when I told the waiter about the insect in my salad he had the owner Marco come talk to use. He was so rude and very unaccommodating. I was so disgusted and unhappy that I didn't even have a appetite after that. So I called the heath inspector on them ... So please just beware of this place ... The food is ok. The portions are great size but I would trade half the portion for some flavor. I got the chicken parm. The cheese was big hunk of melted cheese. The chicken was dry and rubbery. The sauce had no flavor at all. No garlic or basil taste just nothing. So it wasnt bad just wasnt good. Very similar to a chicken parm you would get at a regular sub shop. Three stars are because of the massive amount of chicken you get. There was almost no pasta and all chicken which isnt really a complaint for me just something i took note with. Its like a chicken parm you get in florida if ur from the northeast. Edible but not what you are looking for. read more

Owner Marco from MARCO'S RESTAURANT, I want to let you know YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO DISRESPECTED SOMEONE AND YOU ARE A DISGRACE. Your restaurant should not be operating. The manager and all of the staff are very respectful, kind, helpful, caring, and kind. You should not be in the restaurant interrupting the staff while they are doing their jobs taking care of their customers the way all restaurant employees do. I wouldn't be surprised if your restaurant is ever shut down/closed due to lack of customers. Chef Gordon Ramsey would shut it down in a split second. He would have a field day. read more

I absolutely loved the food at this Italian restaurant -- everything was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. You can tell they put care into their recipes, and I'd definitely come back for the taste alone. However, my experience was let down by some careless mistakes. They forgot my drink, and the container wasn't closed properly, so all my food spilled during transit. It really ruined what could've been a perfect meal. I hope they can tighten up their packaging and attention to detail, because the food truly deserves better service to match. read more

I was a loyal customer and stopped by to pick up food for work or just for myself with the original…read moreowner years back. My go to was "chicken kebob salad with feta". Always good and generous amount. I was there quite often. I did stop going there when ownership changed because of a number of different reasons which I will not get into. Then the new owner returned..YAY and I was very happy when the original owners returned and I stopped and ordered my usual. Was I surprised to see that it rang up to $19. and change. I could not believe that my salad which had ice burg lettuce (not expensive) and (chicken -also not expensive) was out of site in it's price jump. How can you justify charging a customer that much? I will not be returning and told all my work friends and they will not return. I do understand when prices of goods go up you pass it along to your customers. However, not every item has gone out of site for cost with the increased that you made for each item. Expecting someone to pay that much for a simple salad with chicken, feta and a side of pita bread to cost close to $20-- that is INSANE. There used to be many cars parked in your lot with people picking up their orders. I drive by there everyday on my way home and maybe 1 or 2 cars if that are there now. You are pricing yourself out of business. No one wants to pay those kind of prices for meals on the go. We are not being served at a semi fancy restaurant just a to go meal. I am sorry that you have inflated your prices or kept them don't know about your previous owner but come on. The average person is not going to spend that kind of money for their family to eat take out. Several people I know have stopped picking up food from your place. Something you should think about as you go forward with less and less customers. Why do you think McDonald's has changed their menu and is now offering lower costs. Sometimes owners have to cut their profits in these times of higher costs to keep their customers. Just my two cents. I have no negatives to say about your food...although I haven't gone back to check out any of the new items.
