Marc's at the Eastgate Shopping Center is a pretty busy, high-volume shopping destination. The good news is that this Marc's is surrounded by other retailers such as Target, ALDI, Five Below, and CVS. So if you're looking for value, it's a good plaza to get everything on your shopping list. STORE/INVENTORY: The store is quite spacious with usual Marc's layout. The inventory is well organized and stocked. One standout is beer walk in cooler. I haven't seen this at any other Marc's retail locations. Closeouts section has so many treasures here! There are plenty of Christmas merchandise - clothing (even deeply discounted brands like Express for $3.99 or Target brands for $3.99), 15 days of socks (!), decor, Christmas packaging, and toys!!! I was very surprised to see Janod toy brand. I have seen this brand at European toy shops. These toys are wooden and pretty unusual. Perfect for gifts! Triple check any clothing you purchase. I purchased a shirt with a stain which I hope to Tide! SERVICE: Service here is the Wild West. I was really surprised to be honest. Employees stock the store and move merchandise without any regard of customers. At some point, myself and another customer were trapped in an aisle because two employees had carts blocking us in. Some employee came within inches of my foot with his industrial cart. It was quite strange and inconsiderate. The service at the rest of the store is not so pleasant. There are minimal conversations at checkout, mediocre service. This happens continuously during all my visits. I would recommend this store if you want to accomplish mundane shopping and want to dig for treasure at Closeouts. However, don't expect nice service. Ran in to get a phone charger . I have the kind that plugs into a cigarette lighter .. found what I needed and it wasn't expensive . I blacked out in the close outs and bought a pair of Minnetonka shoes on my way out . In and out in 5 mins . Check out was quick and easy ... parking easy . I love all the Marc's stores . First and foremost, I only put the one star because I believe it is required and can't be zero or negative. This store is unorganized, has expired foods and overall customer service is horrible. Moreover, I was hired there for a cashier position and the way some of the employees treat people in a whole was extremely rude. Their hiring process is unorganized and sloppy. I worked several days and was never even given directions to the restroom even after inquiring. My last day I unfortunately bled through my clothing due to womanly issues and the manager that I had to work with was rude and disrespectful. I to experience how some of the employees interacted with some customers was outright out of line and to see management jokingly talk behind customers back was appalling to me. Hello Marc's Management, I would like to share my experience shopping at Marc's on East Gate Plaza in Mayfield Heights from yesterday October 19th 2023 between 4 to 4:50 pm. I was at the register #7 and cashier entered incorrect price for one of my items. I asked him to double check the price because it was on sale. He asked his supervisor to double check the price. She was on the phone with the meat department for at least 5 minutes but they did not even answer the phone. I was patiently waiting. Then, something strange happened. She and the guy cashier left the store saying nothing to me or the other cashiers. They were missing for 15-20 minutes. I was waiting, asking other cashiers where they were. Then, I saw them entering the store from the parking lot. I thought they were coming to the register but they went to the back of the store and were missing for another 10-15 more minutes. I was still waiting. Finally they came back. The cashier at the register #7 finished my transaction, I paid and left the store. Everything was recorded at cameras inside and outside the store. I have never been treated this way at Marc's at Golden Gate Plaza, Mayfield, OH. I been a customer there for 28 years! I wonder where they went, what took so long to check the price for one item? The supervisor and the cashier totally ignored me and just left the store and disappeared for 30 minutes. Today, 3/13/24, I was at the Marc's location in the Eastgate Shopping Center: 1:26 PM - 1:55 PM. I was looking for the glass tea kettles with the colored handles that I had purchased from Marc's in the Closeouts section however, I didn't find one today. I decided to purchase a pair of 0.99 reading glasses. When I walked up to the Customer Service desk to pay, I looked on my left-hand side because the store manager was standing there looking directly at me. As soon as I placed the eye glasses on the counter, he walked away towards his right-hand side / the back of the store. Was there something about me that he felt was suspicious? 1st, I have been shopping at that Marc's since it opened. 2nd, I don't drink, smoke, consume drugs, & I have never & would never steal. I have a lot of self-respect for myself so the behavior from the store manager isn't appreciated. Please let me know why it occurred. To Marc's Management. Your Mayfield store has reached new lows. No one checks product "sell by" dates at this store. Many are MONTHS past due dates. I went to return a past due product today. I didn't catch the date until I got home. I took the item to your "Service Desk". I got the typical indignant, smug look, and was told "get yourself another one". No I'm so sorry, thank you, etc. I took the replacement item back to the desk. Your "manager" just thru the original bag at me and stared me down. On a previous visit, I had to dig through packages of hot dogs to find one not past the "sell by" date. Many were at least 4 months past their dates and turning GRAY. I was confronted by the employee in that department, and told to put the bad items back where I found them. I went to the Service Desk, and was treated like I was the problem. On the next visit, those same GRAY spoiled hot dogs were back in stock. There is NO training, from the top down. During today's visit to the Service Desk, I had to listen to your 2 "managers" discuss what an idiot their boss was, and how they were leaving at 3, regardless if anyone comes in to replace them. Usually, there are only 2 checkouts open at any one time. Your checkout clerks act like they don't even want to be there. Some have actually stated so. Just thought you might want to know. The eastgate store is disgusting. The store was virtually closed today at 4pm because there wasn't a single open register. None. The one woman working a register closed out because her shift was over and there was no one to take her place. Some management guy came out snd said he checked "in back" hoping to find someone to Work a register but there wasn't anyone. Want a bad day? Go to this Marc's store! I dont even know what is happening at this place! I got in line, stood there for 10 minutes. A woman speaking broken English jumps infront of me with a cart full and says Im here now. I said no. She said it's ok. I said no really its not. Then the cashier came out shooded everyone from the line said shoo shoo Im closed now. Shoo... Of course she kept the woman who cut me In line. Upset I went to the next line and waited 10 more minutes. Lines were outrageous and slow. Ive never been shooed from a line before and cut at the same time. Customer service was terrible and I had a couple of things and this lady who had a black scarf on joked with her coworker saying "don't we have a express line" very rude what kinda establishment is this. really good prices, but sometimes the fruits & vegetables can be suspect. I think the main problem is when I buy grapes from there when they are not, you can end up with 100 fruitflies in your home that duplicate, duplicate, duplicate, duplicate...you get the pic. dry goods, and some amazing discounts. I used to love this Marcs. I always knew that it was a bit dirty, cramped,loud, and filled with semi-rude employees but i disregarded that because i was able to get cheap food here. But within the past 3 months, my eyes have been opened completely. I had a job interview here and was given barely any instruction on where to meet the manager. When I asked the customer support employees where I should go, they got annoyed at me and gave me very vague instructions on where to go. I had to the back of the store and wait by the employee's only door for the manager. After waiting 10 minutes they finally came and had very little energy. She slowly guided me all the way across the long employees-only hall, which was filled with rotting produce or smashed fruit and damaged boxes of food. It looked like half of their products were damaged and in the employees-only area. Finally, I went in the managers office and did the normal interview stuff and left. I was kinda starting to realize how gross the store actually was after that. I didn't take the job but I did come back a few times to get food or drinks occasionally but my mind had become more aware and so I was able to look harder into everything to see how bad this store actually was. I realized that all the negativity I knew about was worse than I thought. Employees treat everyone like garbage,smells terrible inside,expired food (Typically juice),broken or opened containers of food, constant theft (watched a few people pocket some stuff but I didn't want to snitch), aisles are very narrow,floor looks disgusting and its filled with stains/cracks. My last straw with marcs was today. If I were to review this store before the experience I had today, my review would probably be 2.5-3 stars. Anyways today I walk inside in search of energy drinks. I navigate through the narrow aisles and go to where they keep "Rip-It energy fuel". I could barely tell the price of everything. On the container it said the price but under some of them the tag was different. But most of the tags were missing or damaged and you could barely read them. I finally decided to just grab 2 and wait in line. it took forever to finally be rung up. After she said my total this is what happened. I handed her spare change and there was maybe 2 quarters. I KNOW THIS IS A BIG INCONVENIENCE BUT IT WAS ALL I HAD BECAUSE I DONT MAKE ALOT OF MONEY. The mean cashier looked at me and sad "Are you serious right now???" and got very pissed but still counted the change. I quietly apologized and tried to explain that it was all I had but she didn't answer me. Finally she counted it all and then threw my receipt at me barely even trying to hand it over. I went in on 1/13/18 and bought some groceries. I bought some juice for my toddler and didn't realize the expiration date until I was ready to feed it to her 2 weeks later. EXPIRED ON 10/1/2016. They sell juice to give to young children 2 years past expiration date! Horrible! Never going there again. read more

When shopping at Marcs, it's helpful to remember: this is the chain that sold human heads a few years back. No, not on purpose. Some smuggler hid remains (possibly ancient and valuable) inside ceramic head statues. Seriously, this happened. So, I guess Marcs gets whatever washes up on the beach, and one day it was human heads. Or maybe they raid archaeologists' basements in the wee hours. I don't know. But people bought the heads, and eventually one broke and a skull was discovered. I'm sure Marcs took them off the shelves. My point being: expect an adventure at Marcs. Maybe one with a happy ending: some good deals as long as you have cash or Discover! Maybe one with a sad ending: every now and then Eastgate Marcs goes months with no shopping baskets! (I know they get stolen, but are they really that expensive to keep on hand?) Love Marcs prices but I just had a terrible service experience. Just went shopping Friday on my lunch break - waited on line 15 minutes while the customer ahead of me repeatedly searched through her cell phone for a discount coupon but graciously told the cashier she was happy to go to customer service rather than hold up the line. The cashier said no problem and continued waiting for the customer to find her coupon on her phone. I said if its ok with you I would like to check out because I have to be back at work at 1:oo pm and the cashier sternly told me it would only be another minute Five minutes later the head cashier came over to assist with this coupon search and I again asked if I could check out because I had to be back at work The Head cashier told me sternly I would wait for you if you had a coupon In frustration and because I would be late for work as I was now in line 20 minutes I left without my filled grocery cart. This might have been the worst Marc's I've been to. It was dirty and everything was very unorganized. No one kept up on product placement and there was no real rhyme or reason where things were located. I went to get tomatoes and a good amount were so soft that they were about to go bad or some already had gone bad. I could see dirt all over the floor and there were products laying on the ground. I went to use the ATM because they only take discover and not even a debit card and the ATM machine wasn't working. I left right away, very disappointed. read more

I go here all the time since I live 2 mins away, but the bad part about this place is that, it's so dirty, the cashiers are rude most times (especially the evening time", and their shopping carts are terrible, because u will have a hard time pushing them around since they are not smooth and it makes the loudest noise ever. Marc's claims it's fame through good food for a great price. I don't know why we don't always shop here. This particular store is large enough so they have all the regular staples. The layout is a bit cramped but that means there are more deals per square foot. The secret is out so there will be a little wait to check out, but it is a wait I am willing to make for half off my grocery bill. read more

Marc's store is fine, but after we got to the checkout my mother in law /grandmas change wasn't coming out. We will come again. But all of us thought he was trying to steal. I am a paranoid person , I didn't want to call the manger but I should have, I hope u want to come to this Marc's but I just want to make this clear because he said he locked the door but when the next customer came, and he easily opened it without him. Any muscle so yeah.
