The prices can be higher than other area stores, but I will say if you are having difficulty locating something elsewhere they tend to have it. My husband purchased items from Dave's on Wilson Mills this morning on 03/30/2024. Upon opening the smoked meat, it was an awful smell because it was spoiled. My husband immediately returned the spoiled meat and was met by a very insensitive manager that told him they are not responsible for the smoked meat they sell due to it already being packaged when purchased by the store. He was refunded but with an attitude and was not given consideration to the inconvenience this caused. For one I am shocked by the response and attitude of this store manager and secondly, thanks for letting us know you have no problem with selling spoiled meat because you are not responsible for the pre-packaged raw meat products you sell. THIS IS A NO STAR post. This is not a "NOT GOOD" review, this is an "AWFUL" review. We have frequented this store on a regular basis and this is not the first time we've had this issue. This store is now a Dave's Market. Being from Atlanta, I love a grocery store with a built in state liquor store. (We don't have those in the South.) One stop shopping! The staff at Dave's is extremely helpful and I absolutely adore the native Cleveland accents. I went to this store with my elderly friend who needs a buggy car. There was a customer service person outside correcting all the shopping carts. We tried to talk and ask if he can bring a buggy car to us, but he didn't notice us. He was listening something and he couldn't hear anything. We honked horn, still he didn't hear. I hope that customer service person could be more aware what the customers need. read more

The staff is not particularly friendly here. I bought some chicken and it did not smell right. I called the store and they did not want to return it. I ended up speaking to a manager and he really gave me a hard time. He ended up conceding that I could return the food for cash back rather than being forced to select something else. I was drilled about when I bought it (A few hours before my call) and was it in the original packaging and am I sure that the food was bad. I had a case with Giant Eagle a couple years back with a roast that did not smell right, I called and they were eager for me to come in and offered double my money back. I did not take it as I was not looking for a handout just a return. They were fantastic about this. Long story short I through away the $18+ in Chicken rather than returning. I don't have time for games and will not do business with a company that makes me feel as if I have done something wrong when they sold me questionable food. I waited a couple months to write this review as an immediate enumeration of my events would have been more aggressive. Truly disappointing and I will not be back. As a side note since this event I have spoken to a couple neighbors wherein this came up and they no longer shop there as a result of 'issues'. I did not ask for details but it seems I am not alone. * Disclaimer: This is the ONLY Dave's I have ever been to (Richmond Hts OH) so I do not know if this is isolated at store level or if this is a chain culture. Dave's deli department on Wilson Mills Rd is the worse : I have tried several times to reach a store manager to voice my concerns with no avail. not only is the service POOR at the deli department they are rude, unsanitary and negligent Yesterday was the last straw when the associate was coughing all over the place, and when I ask her if she would be replacing her gloves, she said she would. finally putting on her personal neck scarf mask And proceeded to service me, without paper between slices ( which I had to ask for, in many occasion). I said 3 times what I wanted and it turn out to be something else. I understand that staffing is low but at lease have competent, efficient staff Members. Not ones that come to work sick and cough over everyone's food. read more

This Dave's is near my home and I have shopped here for years. I appreciate the location, the selection (increasingly organic), the cleanliness and order, and the staff who have been consistently polite and helpful. The one thing I wish could be different is the parking lot, which is a bit hard for me, but that is not about the store. Glad to be a Dave's shopper. read more

I love Dave's. Not just because it's within walking distance of my house, but that's a plus, too. There's a good selection of produce at this store and I know I can always run there if I need anything from black beans to beer. They have an extensive selection of vegetarian frozen foods and meat alternatives, which is a plus for me when I don't feel like driving to Whole Foods. Their wine selection is great and if wine's not your thing, they even have a state liquor store inside. Sure, it's not a fancy store. But sometimes I don't need frills - I just need food. The absolute best part about this store is that it's virtually never busy. I rarely have to wait in line. And even when I do, the cashiers are generally pretty friendly. I also feel good when I buy groceries at Dave's because I'm sort of shopping local. Sure, this is a chain...but it's a smallish-Cleveland based chain. If you live in the Highland Heights-Mayfield-Lyndhurst-South Euclid area, it's worth checking out. You might never go back to that big Pittsburgh chain again... read more

On 4/4/2020 I informed a manager about the sanitize wipes was empty by the carts at the entrance. She pointed at the customer service desk and in a rude tone in her voice she said " Over there". On 2/22/18 @ approx. 2:20pm I went to the hot food section to order. There was no one behind the counter. I then noticed the employee come out the bathroom to behind the counter to serve me. I gave him my order and he began to fill that order, when I ask him if he was going to wash his hands. In a rude and sarcastic tone he said " I always wash my hands ". When I ask to speak to his supervisor he called her over and said in another rude tone," This man has a problem ". The supervisor did apologize to me for his actions. I then met with the store manager Sal and a unknown female. After explaining my story to Sal he said "There are signs in the restroom stating that all employees must wash there hands" He said that the employee ( later identify as Ryan by Sal ) must have got offended by me asking him to wash his hands, knowing that he did. I told Sal just because a sign is posted means that everyone follows the rules. Sal also said that the employees does not have to wash there hands behind the counter. WOW. Every employee that has served me in the past has either washed there hands or put on gloves I have been a loyal customer of this Dave's for many years, but after the conversation with Sal and the entire incident I will take my business elsewhere. read more

As vigilant as I usually am at this place trying to dodge bad expiration dates...they got me again!!!! So that prompted this review. I have had to return an item pretty much every time I have made purchases. Last night I noticed on the shelves the corn tortillas had June 2016 expiration dates, greek yogurt with July dates, salad dressing..the one I purchased ACCIDENTALLY...June!!! It's August 22! Not even for myself but for the elderly customers or special needs folks...what about those on public transportation that get home and with the tight budget they're on, have a freaking spoiled product sitting in their fridge...so they get ill accidentally or if lucky enough to notice it have to trek back up to this garbage place to hopefully get a fresh replacement. Go to Heinens or Giant Eagle may cost a bit more but it's consistent and clean and they know how to pack bags correctly. VERY VERY SAD to do this to the people in your community that rely on your food supplies. read more
