Great burrito and incredibly friendly people! The tortilla on the burrito was homemade and perfect. We ordered the eggs & potato and the eggs & chorizo, and both were simple and delicious. The coffee isn't the best in the world, but it's complimentary. Be forewarned that it's cash only, but they were incredibly nice and didn't mind that I had to walk down to the ATM two blocks away in order to pay. Also, brush up on your Spanish skills. Overhyped. I give it 3 stars for friendly service and the unique experience of dining in an unconventional "restaurant." We ordered breakfast burritos and they were disappointingly mediocre. The burrito lacked not only flavor but sauce as well. It was dry and bland. The tortilla was nice and fresh though. They don't even have any red salsa, so they gave us green salsa which is fine if the salsa was actually good, but it wasn't. I've had much better back in California. This place was recommend by a friend I was staying with in Alpine. The owner is so sweet and generation. There was a slight communication challenge, but we bonded and figured it out. I was in town for a wedding and starving before the big event. I found this place which can be a little misleading when you plug the address into Google maps because it takes you a few buildings down. I realized I didn't see it at first because of all the trucks parked in front of it, but there is a sign that says Marfa Burrito, and yes, it's a house. I had the huevos y papas burrito which was good. The tortilla was the best part. My understanding is it's made there from scratch. Some of the other patrons ordered a chicken burrito and that looked amazing. I wish I would have ordered that, but it wasn't on the posted menu. You have to know the secrets to ordering in this place. It helps if you can speak Spanish, but if not, no fear...someone will be able to help you out. read more

The boyfriend and I came here for breakfast before we were to explore the town of Marfa. We came in and looked over the menu taped to the side window of the kitchen. We decide to share the primo burrito. We sat nearby the kitchen and looked over the Matthew McConaughey photos with the chef. The cook calls us over to pick up our burrito. We were really excited to try these burritos after reading about things to do in Marfa. So we walked here from our hotel two days in a row between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Unfortunately, both days they were closed. You gotta serve breakfast to be a breakfast place. I know the whole not having set hours can make a place feel trendy, but I'd rather just spend my money at a place with good food that also takes their customers' time into account. We got the primo burrito (potatoes, beans, tomatoes, salsa, cheese) and a chorizo and egg burrito. I found the chorizo particularly lacking in flavor, but both needed heavy helpings of their green salsa - which was super tasty and the right level of spice. We were so excited to try this place.... our first mistake was getting a to go order to take back to ElCosmico. We ordered an egg & cheese taco and an egg, cheese & chorizo taco. The tortillas smelled so good. However, my egg & cheese taco was egg & potato and the other taco had potatoes instead of cheese too. Ok, no big deal, we like that too however without cheese the tacos were too dry to eat (which I still don't understand). We each took 2 bites. His went in the trash and mine was so plain that I fed the contents to the dog and tossed the tortilla. Charming little "abuela's cocina" style restaurant. The staff is friendly and nice, especially if you dust off a little of your Spanish from college. The wait can be a little long but well worth it. This little hole-in-wall place doesn't have a menu. I wish that I'd known that before coming to Marfa Burrito. It's more like you are walking into someone's home unannounced and they awkwardly serve you food. I was hoping for more variety and was also hoping that the owner spoke at least a few words of English. I ended up just ordering a bean and cheese burrito because the place didn't seem overly concerned with sanitation. The owners children were hanging out with her in the kitchen when we arrived and seemed to be doing a combination of crying and singing. Wow where do I even begin with this piece of heaven! First off yes this place isn't fancy or anything like that and it certainly does feel like you walked into a strangers house for food. The difference is most strangers don't make the best damn burrito in the galaxy! I think it was only four things but all you need to order here is "The Meat Tornado" which means "El Primo" I'm Spanish. Ok no it doesn't mean that I just call it the "The Meat Tornado". But yes "El Primo" is loaded with everything you can imagine literally and it's wrapped in a huge homemade tortilla. She also has her sweet what I'm guessing nieces serving fruit drinks in the back which are particularly delicious and compliment the legendary "Meat Tornado". On this particular day one of the locals whom was an old Mexican man who looked like Cheech from Cheech and Chong showed up and was bitching about the gays getting married. Ramona pretty much served him humble pie for breakfast and it was awesome! I asked her if I could adopt her as my new mother since mine is annoying and cooks like crap now at her old age but she insisted I show compassion for my mother... Second, the other customers were very friendly, almost all of them greeted us and exchanged a few words. We live in West Texas. Breakfast burritos are a staple for us. Breakfast burritos are a go to for us. We eat breakfast burritos several times a week. This being said, we stopped in for a couple of burritos on the way to the Big Bend. Easily the best breakfast burrito I have had in a very long time. The tortillas were fresh and soft and the ingredients were flavorful and well balanced. The salsas, both red and green, were world class. The breakfast menu consists of two ingredient burritos: egg and cheese, egg and potato, egg and chorizo, etc. I thought about requesting multiple ingredients to make it a little more interesting.
